Sony TA-N9000ES
by Processor4
I recently got this Power Amplifier out of storage since I've now retired from the Special Forces Airborne Commandos Air Force,...and now using it in my main Home Theater with my Anthem avm 50 processor and signature paradigm speakers and subwoofers...The Sony Ta-N9000ES Power Amp is still a high quality beautiful sounding amplifier ... which stands up to the best of them....today an amplifier of this caliber would cost five to seven thousand dollars...so if you still have one of these beautiful beasts...congratulations...If your surround speakers can produce bass the Sony ES Amp will make them deliver in spades....with smooth and delicate transient response...and to make my system 7.1;.. I'm using a parasound stereo power amp for the front speakers...perfect power match for the Sony...and for the bottom end,..two signature paradigm servo-15 subwoofers to crack the foundation....love it...this Sony TA-N9000Es power amp will probably last forever,...its still sleek, beautiful and powerful....and all mine....wouldn't it be great to feel that good about your home theater when you know you have great equipment....I hope everybody does...Now time to listen to my new Mummy...dvd that is... Sony TA FB940/S
by Alexander Hutt
I have owned a TA FB940 amp for about 6 years, at the weekend it really gets some hammer driving my massive B&W 605 series2 speakers, which it does effortlessly. I wanted a really simple amp with no flashing lights or other distractions and that is what I got. I originally bought it to drive much smaler B&Ws and thought I would ... have to upgrade when I got bigger speakers, but it was soon apparent that this was not so. I have always been wary of the big brands like Sony, Phillips, Panasonic etc but as this is one of Sony's QS range I think you get a lot better quality than the usual, cheaper 'throw away' ranges. The one thing I do wish it had was a set of pre-outs on the back then I would have bought another identical amp and bi-amped them, at the moment I have bi-wired the speakers using both speaker outputs which takes the definition up a notch. Sony TA FE230
by scullywag324
The TA-FE230is an excellent amplifier for your first seperate hifi system. The Bass and treble features are'nt exactly excellent but theyre certainly good enough. the amp sounds different depending on the type of speakers connected to it, I have a pair of Sony speakers from the mini system, MHC-RG110 connected to it and the sound quality ... is great. It has 6 inputs and 2 outputs, both of which are being used on mine to enable me to record on both my tape deck and the CD. deck.
I have found that being able to control the speakers on or off from one knob very useful. The amp features a loudness switch which when switched on, boosts the treble and bass by quite a signifficant level, if you like bass that doesnt dominate the sound but is noticeably there then this is an ideal amp for you.
With a power rating of 120 Watts, its quite loud, I havent been able to really hammer it but ive manged to have turned up just over half-way, the volume dial is'nt numberd but if it were, it wouldve been around 7 on a 1-10 basis. The sound was not distorted in any form and the bass and treble still sounded the same, the bass was not cut out or anything.
The amp is ideal for a beginner in seperates but is not to be under-estimated, It may look simple and bland but it really does kick the power out, an excellent amp for every day use.
One downfall, when played at high volume for about half an hour it does get very hot indeed. Not a good idea to have an all night party with this one, u may set fire to it haha! Read the complete review |
