Autodesk Impression 3: ... had a few problems installing Autodesk impression 3 at first. This was because it requires a graphics card that can support pixel shader 2.0 or higher. 	Autodesk Maya Complete 7.0 ... Maya Complete is an Academy Award winning 3D animation, modelling and rendering tool. The version listed on this site is version 7, but in my review I will concentrate on Maya in general since version 7 is a few years out of date - the current version is Maya 2009 (effectively corresponding to version 10). I think of Maya as the old work-horse of 3D animation packages. It s a bit like a big old Clydesdale, which is strong, reliable and hardworking even if it can t always quite keep up with the pace of some the younger upstart ponies. 	Autodesk 3ds Max 9 ... this is when it can get tricky, the PC s we have at uni have 4GB ram and they can struggle on occasions if the scene is highly detailed. But for basic work and beginner work, you ll be fine with 1GB, but 2GB minimum is recommend personally by me. Im not sure what the actual specs of the program are for PC requirements becuase i haven t had to box to look at, I m sure a quick scout through Autodesk s website would find you the info you need. A couple of bugs in the program such as not loading filters from a scene if you load 3d max up on a different computer, but this may be becuase of the different networks and file directories at my universities. 	Autodesk 3D Studio MAX 5 ... year in college we used this version of 3Ds Max for our single solitary 3D unit - I was on a programming course at the time. This is the software that basically served as my wake-up call to switch courses, and is a pretty good piece of kit even though it s been outdated by later versions now. The Good: It has a nice layout, most of the tools are relatively easy to find once you know a little about what you re doing, and it doesn t take long to see the results of your work.
