OK, so I've tried a lot of deodorants and some are sort of ok but don't really last. If you have a quiet day then that may be ok but if you're rushing around at work and especially if you have to go to meetings, you need something that goes the distance. This one is my favourite of all time. You put it on after a shower and then forget it - you're still fine by the time you get home.
I quite like the smell as it's very fresh and a bit spicy. Smells clean, perhaps a little bit antiseptic.
It does take a while to dry, though. You need to give yourself a good ten minutes to wander round the house and have a coffee before you put your blouse or jumper on.
The price is fairly average - depending on where you buy it, it's around 99p for 50 ml. The cheapest place would be Wilkinsons - they sell it for around 60p which is quite a bargain for a branded antiperspirant.
All in all, the best one I've found....
Not as glamorous as the usual products I review, but I'd like to save you money as there really is no need to spend more than £1. A deodorant masks odour and prevents odour bacteria forming and an Anti-Perspirant clogs the sweat pores.
Triclosan - effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria
Alcohol - drying effect and also kills of bacteria
Perfume or Essential oils to mask odour
Te rest of the ingredients will differ depening on whether the deodorant is a aerosol, gel, stick, liquid
Aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium-zirconium compounds - temporarily clogs the sweat glands (removed when washing)
Soothing ingredients ie Allantonin, aloe vera
The rest of the ingredients will differ depening on whether the AP is a aerosol, gel, stick, liquid
Very few deodorants or AP's contain parabens because the formulations do not require as much preservation as other cosmetic products, in fact Triclosan is a good preservative.
Effectiveness & Testing
I personally find AP more effective than deodorant and crystal rocks, but it's a matter of personal taste. A small percentage of people are allergic to aluminium compounds and experience skin irritancy. I used to sell the aluminium and zirconium compounds to the personal care industry and I can share that there around producers of these ingredients worldwide, they all conduct sweat tests on their ingredients to give the 24 or 48 hour protection. The brand owners use these tests and the guideline formulations, add their own fragrance/essential oils/skin calming ingredients and the aluminium-zirconium compounds at the manufacturers recommended level.
So any AP on the market that states 24 hour protection is going to be as effective as the next one claiming 24 hour protection. It's all a matter of which fragrance, medium you prefer, a supermarket own brand for 60p may be identical to a luxury brand costing £5.00
I have used this one for the past decade, it's non-staining, I like the clear roll on medium, not overly fragranced and costs 89p from Savers, and I have no hesitation recommending it.
Purchasing AP's on Holiday
If you run out of your AP on holiday and the only brand you recognise in the shop seems 5 x more expensive than the rest. Simply look at the label if it contains aluminium or zirconium compounds and says 24 Hr or 48 Hr, that you can have complete confidence in buying the cheaper one.
I first started to use amplex roll on deodorant when I was trying to reduce my shopping bill. Aside from own brand varieties, this was the cheapest roll on that I could find. I usually buy this from Wilkinsons, priced at around 68p. This represented a saving of around 30p on my usual sure roll on - not a huge saving, granted, but as they say look after the pennies.....
The packaging is simple - clear plastic shaped nicely to fit into your hand whilst applying. Handy also that you can see how much of the deodorant you have left, to prevent any product wastage. The lid is plastic and screws on. Lid colour is an indication of the fragrance that you have bought, I usually opt for light blue or pink - both very nice but pink is a little more feminine and light blue perhaps a little more 'sporty' in that it is a fragrance that I would associate with other 'sport' deodorants that I have tried.
It is actually an anti-perspirant deodorant, so you get the best of both worlds - primarily it tries to syop you sweating, but if you do sweat a little, it stops it smelling. I have found this to be pretty effective at stopping sweating and I always feel dry when using. The fragrances, whilst nice, aren't particularly strong so I don't actually smell them on me throughout the day - so I would question if you did sweat alot if this would offer you sufficient deodorising protection.
It is easy to apply and you don't get too thick a layer on to the skin when rolling on. It takes a few seconds to dry but it leaves the skin feeling soft rather than sticky, and there are no white marks or any powdery feel to the skin. It is also gentle on skin and I have used directly after shaving with no stinging etc. I feel protected all day from a single application. A bottle of deodorant also lasts a rather long time - I usually get a good months use from mine, applying every day, which is great value for the price paid. I would definitely recommend this.
This without a doubt is the best everyday deodrant to wear! It keeps you fresh but also your clothes. Have you ever thought why does my top smell but my under arms don't? This as I say keeps everything fresh.
It's so cheap I think between 90-99p for 60ml it last me about 2 months and I use a lot! It doesn't mark your clothes and leaves it looking clear under the arms.
I use others in between I hate them even expensive ones or good brands they just don't work as well.
The only problem with this is that its hard to find I usually find it in superdrug or little pharmacies.
My Mum has used it all her life hence why I use it! It comes in three smells which I only know by colours as I don't take much notice of it to be honest. There's pink, blue and yellow. I always go for yellow or pink as the blue is original I believe (I never go for original). It is a roll on and never dries out or goes over wet that you end up flicking the product everywhere! They also do a range for men as well.
The packaging is a lot different to the other brands on the market as this is a lot taller, it's a clear bottle with a coloured label and a matching colour lid.
It's good for sensitive skin and doesn't cause ingrowing hairs. I find it slows my sweating down or even stops it sometimes. The only reason I know that is when I haven't been organised to get another one when I've ran out and had to use another brand it either makes me sweat or doesn't stop me from sweating.
I do body massages which get you really hot and I don't want to be wiffy or dripping with sweat over my client!
This definetly deserves five out of five.
Thank you for reading! :-)
I find Amplex roll on deodorant is ideal to use as a an every day anti-perspirant deodorant. It is the product that I prefer to use for daily use.
I use Amplex roll on even whilst on holiday in hot countries. However, I do admit, of an evening while holidaying I sometimes use Mitchum or I use the Amplex but also use a very small amount of a spray deodorant. BUT this is really just a precautionary measure and I don't think I smell too much and I don't have too much of a problem of underarm sweating.
This is my usual deodorant. I find that it dries better than most roll ons. I find it quite good at not leaving white marks on dark clothes IF it is allowed to dry properly before dressing. I haven't really found any deodorant that is completely invisible, despite claims to the contrary.
This deodorant is effective for the day.
I use the active type or the pink. I prefer the pale blue lidded versions as the smell is subtle and therefore doesn't clash with other toiletries and perfumes. The deodorant comes in 60 ml thick see through plastic bottles so you can see when you're getting low.
It is reasonably priced. I most often buy it from 'Savers' and never pay more than eighty pence.
Another plus is that it doesn't sting and, although I don't suppose you should really do this, I have used it after shaving my under arms.
I find that Amplex roll on doesn't drip, unlike some other brands that make a mess of the container or drip on clothes or parts of your body where you're not using deodorant! Therefore there is very little waste with this brand.
When it comes to using deodorants, I really do not like most men's brands such as lynx, I find the smells over powering so I tend to use women's or odourless deodorants. Amplex roll on has all the features. It is 24 hours protection with a nice light odour, contains an anti white stain formula, and has a special non sting ingredient for sensitive arms...
Deodorant - In terms of performance this deodorant is very good, I have never had a day where I have smelt of body odour after use. Only if I run into the next day and still haven't showered I may have a slight smell, but this is after the 24 hours promised and so it does do the job.
White stains - I have a favourite black shirt I like to wear and it does not leave a stain on there, I have had so many other deodorants which do stain and so this is something that amplex certainly make me happy about.
Anti Perspirant - For it's anti perspirant properties, it works somewhat well. I still sweat like a beast, but not as much as I would without it. As long as I don't smell I am not too worried.
Anti-sting Formula - The anti-sting formula works a charm, sometimes I have had sores under my arms and applied worrying it will hurt, it's like dabbing water, you feel nothing. My mother who is allergic to many deodorants also uses amplex for these reasons. It also contains aloe vera, which is always an added benefit to underarm skin...a place which is rarely moisturised.
Odour - The odour is very pleasant, it is purely a light fresh scent enjoyable to all noses.
To sum up it's a good deodorant, it smells nice and works well to prevent odours. It has a gentle caring formula, very good for those with sensitive skin and does not stain clothes. It's anti-perspirant properties are ok, not brilliant. At a cost of 99p, I would say it is worth the buy.
Honestly Aldi should pursue a beauty range! this is cheap but effective deodrant. I really like the fact that even straight after a shave, it doesnt sting as it goes on. Its clear so it doesn't leave marks on my clothes either. It also looks pretty good on my dresser with the blue screw lid.
I like the shape of the bottle and that the bottle is squeezable so I can get every last bit out ... lol I'm very money saving!
The product comes in a roll-on stick with a lid, 60ml for around £1.?? (I will edit).
The one I have is the active one and its good for the gym as well as everyday stuff too.
I cant really see any downsides to this deodrant, maybe the bottle come come with a flip-cap or summat to save a bit of plastic ;) although its obviously recyclable anyway.
This is one of my favourite roll-on deodorants because it's inexpensive yet effective. The one I am using at the moment is Amplex Active Anti-Perspirant Deodorant and the label boasts that it has 'anti-stain formula', '24-hour protection' and 'non-sting' ingredients. I have to say that it lives up to all these claims. I don't usually put my clothes on immediately after applying deodorant because some of them do leave a tell-tale stain but on the occasions when I have been in a hurry, this has not stained. I can't really vouch for the 24-hour protection but I do know that it lasts for at least 18 hours and it definitely does not sting even if applied straight after shaving, although the advice is not to use it on broken or sore skin.
The lists of ingredients is mind-boggling and I can't pretend to know exactly what they all are. It does contain aluminium chlorhydrate and there have been some worrying claims about using aluminium as a deodorant in recent years. It also contains water, urea (which is a good moisturiser), hydroxyethylcellulose PPG-1-PEG-9,lauryl glycol ether, perfume, allantoin, Aloe barbadensis, maltodextrin, alpha-isomethyl ionone, linonene and linalool. You don't need to use a lot of the stuff each time which, judging by the list of ingredients, is perhaps just as well.
Amplex is a reliable and effective anti-perspirant deodorant which is good value for money.
Amplex For Men Ahhh...there's nothing like a bus journey on a hot summer's day to remind you just how important finding the right deodorant is. Nothing like being stuck in the office, computer lab, classroom etc. next to someone who has yet to find the right one yet and nothing worse than the uncomfortable feeling that perhaps yours isn't doing its job right! I have a problem with deodorants, but I have more of a problem with those who don't use them. Going 'au naturelle' may be nice for you mate, might save you a couple of quid on smellies, but its hell for th rest of us believe me. My problem is that I'm somewhat allergic to the propellants in the spray-ons, have a throat which doesn't deal too well with many different perfumed products and a skin which reacts to half the crap they throw into these things. Amplex is one of the few I can wear without putting myself in some kind of discomfort for the pleasure of other peoples noses! ~So What Is It?~ Amplex 'For Men' is the humorous title of this particular brand. Humorous to me that they genderise these products when in all fairness a deodorant which has such little smell, is invisible when applied, comes in a neutral packaging(doesn't have testicles or facial hair either) could just as easily be used by men or women. Ladies, I'm sorry, but obviously any contact with this might vapourise you. The product comes in a 60ml roll-on packaging, styled in manly black and white so as not to give any impression that its in the slightest bit feminine, because to not want to smell like the inside of a marathon running yodeller's lederhosen just might be construed as such and is totally unperfumed because any rough tough beer swilling guy knows that smellies are for girlies too. FOR MEN is emblazoned across the front with a striking red background - a STOP symbol for women - back off! Its ours!, along with its claim to protect without staining and t
he usual techno-crap about advanced formulas and such like. Its a no-nonsense man product, complete with translucent container part so you can see that theres absolutely positively NO gimmicky colourings or such like inside - just a transparent, water-like deodorant. ~Application~ Personally, I was never much of a fan of the spray-on type deodorants, the number of times I would get up in a hurry, still half drunk or half asleep(or both) from the night before and 'mis-spray' ending up with a faceful, window splat or just an expensive airfreshener was far too many to mention. Everyone who tries a spray-on will just once spray those 'other parts' where a roller isn't quite so appealing and wish damn well you hadn't as well. Dry rollers always seemed to get clogged and generally nasty looking and there always seemed to be a rather large amount left in the packaging which you could never use, so wet roll-ons have been my choice. Amplex is a wet roll-on, obviously or I wouldn't use it given the last piece of info. Application is easy, simply tilt the bottle once, then roll it around the desired area, applying as much or as little as you feel you require. Anything undesirable gets on the roller then you can wash it under the tap - easily applied, no mess. ~After Application~ First problem presents itself after application. I'm in a hurry most mornings you see. I love my bed, I'd stay in it 14 hours a day given the opportunity but unfortunately no one is willing to pay to let me do this. I'll keep trying the lottery but until then I'm stuck with aving to get up at certain times to be in certain places for certain reasons and most of them aren't condusive to you being later. Nevertheless, I'm still someone who'll stay in bed until the very last second and then rush around like a lunatic to get readyand out the door without being late - and Amplex doesn't aid me in this endeavou
r! Once applied you are left with a sticky liquid sitting under your arms and wherever else you may have shoved it(where you shove things is your business), and its takes AGES to dry. Well, it seems like ages to someone in a hurry anyway - its not a short time thats for sure. Put too little of it on though and you'll sweat and be smelly, put too much on and it'll take forever to dry, becoming slimy and sticky as it does and stiffening as a white horrible crust when it does so. Ewww! There's nothing like white crusty armpits! ~Does It Do The Job~ Ummm...yes and no. It certainly stops the smells, but I'm a little less confident about its ability at stopping the sweating. Using Amplex you'll find yourself with an unpleasant wet, sticky sensation under the armpits all day, the sweat mixing with the deodorant and whilst not smelling, not exactly leaving you feeling particularly confident, nor preventing those nasty under-arm wet rings, nor leaving you feeling very comfortable either! Its deodorising at the price of damp, slimy armpits...your choice. ~Staining~ One of the first deodorants I used was made by Sure. "It won't let you down" was the claim, it didn't, but what it did do was completely ruin several perfectly good shirts which is one of the reasons I tried this one. They are true to their word - no stains. BUT you have to wait for it to dry before you get dressed otherwise you can toss that claim out the window and considering the time it takes to dry its easy to get impatient. Any stains you do get here though are at least washable, the ones I got from Sure were permanent. ~Smell~ Amplex For Men is very lightly scented with manly spiciness. For me its hardly noticable but then I'm not reknown for the quality of my sniffer... ~Ingredients~ No idea, rather unhelpfully they do not actually say on the packaging. Probably best avoided if you have allergi
es of any kind because...well you never know whats in here seeing as they do not say. I hate companies like that. ~Cost~ Cheap. 70p is around the right price. ~Overall~ This isn't my first choice deodorant because the sticky sensation it leaves is rather unpleasant. I'm not too keen on aving to wait 10 years for it to dry either (then for it to get wet again!), but it does stop the smells and is at a rather appealing price. Its claim not to stain clothes is reasonably supported - forget perfection, they all stain to some extent, but in this case its a lot less than with most others I've tried and any stains it does leave with come out in the next wash. Not a bad choice if you ask me, but most of us guys will be more interested in the Physio Sport kind of thing rather than this product and in all honesty its a better deodorant as well...for a price.
Over the years I have tryed many different types of deodorants.I found that sprays just go everywhere and infact make me sneeze, so I avoid these.I am always looking for one that works well and does the job its suppose to. I have a last found a brilliant anti- perspirant deodorant, it is a roll on type, so it’s very easy to apply, and has a lovely sweet smelling fragrance, which is called Tropical. It reminds me of oranges, melons, just really fruity. It contains Aloe Vera, which is valued for its skin caring properties. It is dermatologically tested and gives twenty- four, hour protection. Another advantage with this product is that it’s got an anti-stain formula, so no more nasty stains left on your clothes. I found that it is very quick drying, which is great when you are in a hurry. It is priced very reasonable at 69p, and that’s for the 60ml size. I will say that I buy mine from wilko’s, as it’s cheaper than in chemists. That’s not all, I have saved the best bit to last, how many of us go through the pain of applying deodorant just after having shaved, and yes it’s dam painful. Well you have no need to worry hear. This is absolutely fantastic as I can confirm that it is completely non-sting, and really does work. It certainly was a good find and I would recommend it to everyone. If anyone is interested in trying this out, to make it easier to find on the self, it has a bright orange top, you can’t miss it. I hope that you have found this helpful and go and get your self some, it’s worth every penny. Bye from Cinystar
I have a bit of a problem. I do sweat and when I mean sweat I mean buckets. I need something that will keep dry at a good price that does not stain my clothes. Most of the deodorants that I have tried either stain my clothes or do not keep me as dry as I think that it should. I should first admit that I am not Miss Skinny. I am a larger lady. That is the only reason I can think of is why I have a bit of sweat problem. Most of the time there is not much of problem. But I can never wear silk shirts in the summer as I end up with huge sweat patches under my arms. I do wash every day and shave about once a week. But that does not seem to help. While wandering around one of my fav shops Wilkinsons I saw Amplex non-staining formula roll on deodorant. Great I thought. I have not used a roll on for a long time. But it is worth a try. I think that the price was £0.79p Bargain I thought. I bought two. Once my old deodorant rang out. I started on the Amplex. I used it for a week and the chucked the open bottle away. And the unopened bottle I gave to my mum. The fragrance was nice and clean and did not clash with my perfume. But it just was not up to the job. It never seemed to dry and was sticky all day. Even when I knew that I was cool and would not have a problem with sweating I felt wet all the time. It got to the point that I had to run to the ladies and using toilet tissue wipe all the deodorant away. And I was just paranoid for the rest of the day. I work on a computing helpdesk so I do get very close to people and have to lean over them some times to take over the mouse or keyboard. So I have to smell sweet all day with out fail. If you like roll ons you might get on with this one. But I was unable to. You get what you pay for. The price is cheap and if you can stand the feeling of being wet all-day it is the one for you.
After recently trying Amplex roll on, I have to comment on the gorgeous scent it has (the one in the orange n clear bottle, forget the type)... It really is wonderfully refreshing to be wearing it. And, ofcourse, the effectivity of the deo itself is important, and in my opinion Amplex have done a bloody good job with this product. It serves its purpose as a deo well and is also cheap to buy. Although, i would question the staying power - i felt it stopped working a bit too soon for my liking. But what it lacks in staying power it makes up for in aroma... mmmmmm, a must try for those who like to smell nice. It definately gives the more established products a run for their money, especially in value!
