“ Brand: Asda / Type: Roll-on / Suitable for: Body / What it does: Protects, „
If you take a look at the deodorants on offer in Asda or any supermarket or chemist for that matter you cannot help feel slightly overwhelmed at how many different types and fragrances are on offer to choose from. As for the prices well you can go wild if you have a few bob to spare or you can be frugal if needs be.
I am pretty sure that I have tried out every basic roll on that is on offer, the Other Half was ecstatic a few days ago, he was raking about in my overflowing drawers and managed to unearth a Lynx spray - probably given to him as a Christmas present at some time or another at least he went off for a shower with a smile on his face.
Like most people we bathe or shower every day and neither of us suffer with excessive perspiration, so in my book a run of the mill deodorising product meets our needs.
Asda have a range of roll on deodorants, prices range from a lowly 46p for the Stay dry 24 hour protection roll on and work their way up the scale until you reach 94p which gives you a roll on with an inbuilt moisturiser.
The Asda Cotton Fresh roll-on certainly looks fresh and smart, a sparkling white 50ml bottle that has a pleasant coloured sea blue screw cap and details relating to the product are printed on the front of the bottle in that same fresh sea blue colour.
The emphasis is all placed upon 24 hour dryness, Asda have made sure that no one is going to ignore that fact, take a close look at the labelling and that appears to be the major selling point of the product.
If you were talking about spray deodorants then you could go on endlessly, there are so many glorious fragrances on the market but when you are chatting about a humble roll -on it is difficult to sing its praises.
The Asda cotton fresh roll on is on a par with many other cut price deodorising products. In order to get the deodorant to flow well from the small bottle it is better to turn the bottle upside down for a second or two. The roller ball moves easily and the deodorant flows out and covers the skin with ease.
The smell - now all I can say is that it is fresh, the deodorant does contain a small amount of perfume and some citronellol but there is no definable fragrance except to say that the smell is pleasant.
The `wetness` - as the roller ball releases the liquid deodorant onto your skin you do notice just how `wet` it is. If you angle the bottle you can limit the flow but then you don't feel completely `deodorised`.
But all is not lost, the liquid dries fairly quickly and in a minute or two it is perfectly safe to put your blouse on. I don't like to put my top on when my underarms are still wet with the deodorant, I always seem to end up marking my clothes if I do it that way.
When the liquid has dried on your skin it leaves no trace but there is a gentle smell of something pleasant left in its wake.
I don't have a hectic schedule that is physically demanding so the Asda roll on isn't tested to the limit but at the end of the day I am sure that the next door neighbour would still come and stand beside me !
Asda have offered their customers a simple product and an affordable price. The roll on performs well on light perspiration and maybe that will be its strength.
At 46p I wouldn't turn my nose up at it and I am sure I won't be alone.
Before discovering my new favourite deoderant (Dove Cucumber)- i was a regular user of this very cheap deoderant from my local Asda.
What does it claim to do:
Apparantly it has odour neutalising technology which responds to your body to give longer lasting freshness.
How much is it?
You get a 50ml roll on deoderant for 76p from Asda. I buy the sensitive variety, but you can also get it it cotton, responsive, and reduces white marks. I have quite sensitive skin and so i chose the sensitive. I was surprised as sensitive usually means fragrance free. Not the case with this.
The packaging is simple, yet functional. The different varieties come with different coloured lids, so you can easily identify the one you want on the shelf. Asda have recently changed the packaging and it now comes with a green lid for the sensitive one.
What i think:
The first thing i noticed when unscrewing the cap was the smell. To me it smells of Johnsons Baby Powder. I like that as love the smell of all johnsons baby products. For sensitivity it is excellent. I had no reaction using it, even after shaving. No stinging or red marks. It does keep me protected, not quite sure i can comment on the 24 aspect but if i apply in the morning it does its job all day. The deoderant keeps me dry and odour free-yah! The deoderant is a white liquid, that is not overly runny but applies evenly and without any effort.
My only criticism is that if you don't let this dry fully before getting dressed you will be covered in white marks. Sometimes i just don't have the time to stand flapping my arms in the air!
For the price i think this deoderant ticked all the boxes. However, leaving white marks to the extent it does is unforgivable in my book, so i have now switched to another brand.
