I bought this Body Spray a while ago from Avon. I saw it in 1 of the sale books so I assumed that this scent had been discontinued. I have looked through a current Avon book as well and can't see it. Then again I wasn't exactly enamoured with the scent, I guess that is how after a good few months I still have some of this left to use up.
I have always found the Body Sprays in Avon to be expensive and me personally would not pay all that much for a Body Spray. I know that this one is the matching spray from a Perfume and it is quite a strong and fragrant scent but to pay £3.60 for a 75ml body spray is a bit expensive for me. I paid £1.50 for this. Often there is a half price offer on the sprays and other offers pop up from time to time.
The tin looks like the picture on here. Nothing all the special or fancy in my view. The colour is a strange browny/green colour. It is just a normal aerosol and easy enough to hold and use.
The scent of this is different to what I was expecting. Since this was in the sale book then it never had a big description next to it and since I had never bought it before then I wasn't sure what it would smell like. The main scent in here is Grapefruit. Looking at the tin I had in my head that this would be a woody, musky kind of scent. I do like citrus fruit scents but obviously they can be that bit too tangy at times I find. After looking online I see that this has Guava and White Pepper in it. I can definitely smell the Grapefruit and there is a slight spicy scent to this too which I am assuming is the Pepper.
The scent of this is alright and I found that a little squirt of this and the scent lingered for ages afterwards. It did seem to be that bit strong to start off with and I really wasn't that keen on it, but once the scent had died down a bit then I found that the scent was that bit more bearable. I however am not a big fan of this scent as it is just that bit too tart smelling with the Zestiness of the grapefruit.
If you like sharper kind of scent then this would be a good scent for you but although I can see myself finishing the tin I know I will not be buying it again if it pops up in the sale book again.
~ THE PRODUCT ~ 'A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet' ~
So whom is this fragrance directed at? In Avon's own words, 'The edition for women Avon Jet Femme aims at spontaneous woman who enjoys sun and beauty; woman who likes elegant things and wants to escape from hectic everyday life to a luxurious corner created just for her'. Umm most women then! Whether any of us are able to attain the wonderful delights mentioned are relative. But, there is little doubt in my mind that this is a very popular fragrance due to its wonderfully appealing 'Notes'.
The Top notes consist of grapefruit: the grapefruit peel oil, known for its gorgeous aromatic fragrance. It is the very distinctive top note of the grapefruit juice is recognized as one of the strongest bouquet known. Milder varieties of the grapefruit are also used in fragrances. With guava's fruity swells affords a beautifully sweet scent. The watermelon note gives a freshly cut sweet aroma with overtones of strawberries. Finally the white pepper notes adding a distinctive spicy influence.
The Middle Notes that include hibiscus supply a wonderfully tropic fresh, fruity and floral fragrance. The jasmine, with its delicate floral and sweet fruity freshness, provides the exotic influences.
Finally, the Base notes consist of warm Amber/Ambergris possessing a kind of strange but pleasantly sweet musky and earthy odour. The musk, depending on the production and variation, the scent can change from spicy, sweet, woody and even leathery odours. But this is definitely on the spicy sweet side, delivering a gorgeous stimulating appeal. Theirs notes with its violet suggestions and woody-green tones, adds to this fine aroma. The Woodsy notes furnish the fragrance with a rustic scent of the forest, distinctive and strong, without being overwhelming.
The cool (Google the Laws of Thermodynamics to see why these pressurized cans are cool :D) metal container has a lovely shade of a warm yellowy gold tone. With the bold large gold capitols of 'JF' dominating the can along with distinctive and contemporized boarder patterning, furnishes the product with a quality professional appearance. The Product holds 75 ml of the fragrant spray.
~ USAGE EXPERIENCE ~ 'Stop And Smell The Roses'...or at least the varied notes! :D ~
I hold the container approximately six inches from my skin, avoiding broken tissue, sensitive areas and my face, depressing the nozzle to spray sparingly in a couple of short bursts for each section of the areas I wish to cover. This method ensures that my lungs and skin do not suffer adverse effects. Applied in a well aired environment affords comfortable and safe use.
Upon first removing the cap even without spraying, the aroma floats out. I would describe this initial odour as a musky floral scent. Pressing down fairly firmly on the nozzle, directing it onto my wrist, the spray burst out but in a fluid directional flow. The floral notes are instantly recognizable, a beautiful intensified bouquet of sweet alluring jasmine along with an effusion of citrus flavours of grapefruit. The primary redolence soon settles into a softer balm of a more delicate fruity and sweet balance, with detectable jasmine dominating the scent. After a longer period of time, I notice the incense of a light musky woodsy spice effect. Now this is pure delight. Although these distinctive scents may sound rather pungent, combined with the effusions of the exotic warm flowery notes, the perfume is well balanced.
I generally spray over clothing, but on the skin such as shoulders, upper arms and legs. I find the spray gives a gorgeous transmission in the breeze. One of the many advantages of this well designed perfume spray is its durability. It is one of the most long lasting atomizers I have used. I notice the delightful essence long after the application; in fact, I still identified the scent in the evening after a full day's wear! As with fragrances in general, one doesn't notice it on their skin after a while, but from time to time, the cologne's aroma would hit me...in a lovely way! :D
If I am outdoors, a breezy afternoon would leave a wonderful wafting fragrance. In the home and secular establishments, an oscillating fan would bring the perfume to the fore. Folks tend to ask the name of the aerosol when standing close by. The body spray is so effective that I have discontinued wearing bottled perfumes when using the spray.
~ USE WITH CARE ~ 'Clear And Present Danger'! ~
When storing the product, the manufactures advice that the container must be protected from sunlight and not to be expose to temperatures exceeding 50oC. The manufactures also advice not pierce or burn the container for safety reasons. Of course this is obvious to us, but I thought I'd add this as it is specified.
~ WOULD I RECOMMEND? ~ 'The Sweet Smell Of Success' ~
Most definitely! This is a beautifully subtle aromatic fragrance that last a very long time. Even when I've stored clothing away, the cupboard exudes the ambrosial luscious fragrance. I purchased this perfumed vaporizer from my Avon representive, being on offer for £1.50p. It can be purchased online at the Avonshop.co.uk website among other sites. Presently, The Jet Femme Perfumed Body Spray can be purchased at a saving of £2.10. Instead of the MRP price of 3.60p, it can still be obtained for £1.50.
