When I was going on holiday last month, one of the items I needed to bring was of course deodorant, some perfume and a nice little body spray. I had been using Charlie spray in the past but as it was finished I dug up this old aerosol of Avon Little Black Dress Body Spray and this was coming with me!
I got a small one in a small 75ml canister, which is black in colour, with a lovely detail of the small white logo which says the name of the product with a design around and of gold. The design is all very simple, but I quite like the minimal look and I wasn't too bothered about attractiveness when I bought it out the catalogue anyway!
I already have the little black dress eau de toilette already and this is in essence the same just as a perfumed body spray, deodorant perfume. The scent is a lovely mixture of floral scents including gardenia and jasmine, which are a gentle scent but behind these top layers, out fuses a deep sandalwood/amber scent which creates a nice oriental aroma altogether and is very mature yet not outdated. It's slightly on the heavy side but I tend to find most body sprays are as their consistency as an aerosol doesn't allow them to be as diluted as the scent can quickly fade.
As a body spray, it is worth a mention not to apply this to any underarms! Using it is easy, as I hold the canister about 15cm away from my body and I give it a quick spray to help me freshen up a bit. It doesn't feel suffocating or overpowering, and is quite a nice fragrance but in my opinion, it is much more suited to wearing out in the evening to dinner as opposed to a daytime casual scent.
In terms of it's effectiveness it does a great job at sprucing me up especially if I have already been wearing the perfume of the same name so it doesn't smell conflicting on me. It is quite good quality as it doesn't leave white marks on clothing as long as you don't spray too close to your top! The lasting power isn't the best as probably after a couple of hours its hardly noticeable anymore but for most body sprays I never find they never last long anyway so this is a decent one.
Overall, I do like this spray and I would recommend it. Of course it's not as great in terms of longevity but it is a nice little top up and works fab for me :) It is available online at avon or from their brochure and costs about £3.60 which I think is way over priced. I am sure I bought it half price or on some kind of deal, so always worth waiting for a bargain to arise!
I was given the Little Black Dress body spray in a basket of random beauty products a while ago. My mother is an Avon rep and so I get the chance to try lots of Avon products, but I have so many body sprays that it can be difficult to get through them all and I have only just gotten round to trying this body spray in the last month or so.
Little Black Dress is an Avon perfume and one I have worn myself, albeit a long time ago now. This body spray is one of the matching products available, along with a body cream, roll on deodorant and a body mist. I haven't tried the body mist, but other than the fact that comes in a pump bottle and this body spray comes in a pressurised spray can, I can't imagine that there would be a whole lot of difference between the two.
The packaging of this product is rather basic - the spray can is black in colour with a small white logo and a few touches of gold. It's all very simple, but I quite like the minimal look.
I use this as a sort of refresher - usually part of the way through my working day when my perfume has worn off. It sprays out in an even mist and I usually spray it over my clothes to be honest, rather than directly onto the skin and it hasn't faded or damaged any fabrics so far. You should bear in mind this is just a body spray, so it is just designed to add fragrance and isn't an anti-perspirant, so won't protect against sweating.
As I mentioned it has been a long time since I used the Little Black Dress perfume, but I instantly recognised the fragrance when I sprayed this. From memory it does smell like the matching perfume, which you would think would be a given, but I have often found that the so called matching products don't match at all!
The scent is a combination of florals such as gardenia and jasmine, mixed with a deeper sandalwood/amber scent. The jasmine is definitely the predominant fragrance and I think it gives it a bit of a depth and oriental tone to the fragrance. Even as someone who is not overly keen on floral scents I really like this fragrance. It's slightly on the heavy side even in body spray form, but I don't find it overpowering or heady as I sometimes do with jasmine based fragrances and it isn't old fashioned.
The scent lingers for perhaps an hour or two after spraying. This perhaps does not sound a lot when compared to a perfume, but I find it adequate and around what I would expect from a body spray. I do find if sprayed over clothes the fabrics seem to retain the scent, therefore making it last longer than if it is sprayed directly onto skin - although I'm sure that's probably not the officially recommend way of using it.
A 75ml can of this body spray retails at £3.60 which I do find a little pricey for this sort of product to be frank with you. Thankfully, Avon has special offers on almost constantly throughout the year, so there will no doubt be countless opportunities to pick it up for less. Currently it is selling for just £1.75 at www.avonshop.com which I feel is closer to what it is worth.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this body spray. The scent is lovely and I find the spray perfectly good at giving me a refreshing burst of fragrance which is what I want and expect from a body spray. I would use this again and in fact using it has made me want to buy another bottle of the matching perfume! A five star rating from me!
