I decided to purchase a boots own brand body spray for a change since they were on offer (buy one get one free) and quite a bit cheaper than some of the other body sprays on the market.
I chose this one because it gives the appearance of being a 'cool' and 'chilled' type fragrance and comes in attractive light blue bottles with images of birds on the front.
I found the main problem with it was that while the curved shape of the tin made it easy to grip the actual spray is quite difficult to use. You have to use quite a lot of pressure to get the spray to come out and I found the shape of the part that you push to be rather awkward.
The scent itself is quite refreshing, it isn't fruity or flowery or anything like that, it has quite a clear smell however I found that it was perhaps a little 'clinical' smelling, rather chemical in fact. It reminded me a bit too much of cleaning products. The scent is quite strong and long-lasting however it can be a little over-powering if you use too much, it is more the sort of strength you would expect from a perfume rather than a body spray.
I have liked other products in the boots own brand range so will be trying some of the other sprays however I found the smell of this one to be too clinical and acidic for my liking.
Boots have their body sprays on offer at the moment, you can buy one and get one free, so feeling adventurous, and after reading so many of xxfoxyredxx's great reviews on various body sprays, I thought I would give the Boot's own brand a try, as working in an air conditioned office can make you feel that you need to freshen up regularly.
One that I chose was in a pale blue slightly shaped spray can, which has a small Boots logo above the word Free. There are stylized pictures of swallows flying over a background of clouds, and stars. Below the picture it says "how do you feel?" and tells us this is body spray. On the reverse of the can it asks "Feeling free and chilled? Then go on and use this soft and mellow fragrance."
It gives directions to shake the can well before use, and to hold the can 15-20cms away from the body and spray.
There are standard warnings, about using a pressurised can and not applying to broken or irritated skin, and not spraying near the eyes. It also warns that it is extremely flammable. The ingredients are listed, and the fact that there is 75ml in the can.
It also mentions that the aerosols contain no CFCs, and that the can is aluminium and recyclable.
When I tried to spray the can I found it very awkward to hold and spray at the same time, and the pressure that you have to use to depress the spray nozzle was rather great, in fact at one point I was having to use my thumb to get the nozzle to depress enough to get the spray to work. I would imagine that anyone with problems such as arthritis would find this impossible to use. When I eventually got the spray to work, it came out in a fine and even spray, but as I said pressing the nozzle with my thumb meant that to spray my body I had to twist my wrist at a strange angle. I'm hoping that as the spray is used the nozzle will become easier to depress.
The scent was very fresh, and light, and cool, with a citrusy overtone, although beneath that there is something warmer, which I believe to be geranium and possibly rose. I think this would be a very cooling scent in the summer, as somehow it reminded me of sea breezes. It is a pleasant scent, but I found it a little too strong, for a body spray rather than a perfume. It is not a fragrance that I would choose to wear every day, but I use the body sprays to feel fresh durng the working day, and it would certainly be useful for that purpose. The only problem is I kept wondering who was using cleaning products nearby when I forget about it, and then realise it's the aroma from the spray! I'm not sure I want to smell as if I've been doing the cleaning all the time! I found it to be quite long lasting too, as the softer tones (what I would call a powdery smell), lasted all day, and was still evident when I went to bed.
Available from Boots, normally selling for £1.56, but on offer buy one get one free at the moment.
