“ Brand: Brut / Type: Roll-on / Subcategory: Tonic / Suitable for: Body „
A few years ago I received this deodorant as part of a gift set for Christmas, It was originally released in 1988 in the Brut range by Faberge and is a nicer and more likeable fragrance than the normal Brut. Production continued until 2005 but the deodorant has since been rebranded as Aquatonic Man. The brand was acquired by Conquest Personal Care who also make the Addiction deodorants. So what does it smell like?. It's quite a strong scent as you would expect from the Brut range but it has a pleasant freshness about it. I remember the scent of it a few years on and here's my review of the deodorant.
This deodorant is best when used after a shower or bath and the strength of the scent means that you don't need to apply too much of the spray so it should last a while. The scent has hints of fresh herbs, bergamot and ozonic accords and also has a woody tinge with a slightly musky feel especially before it fades out and as a cheap deodorant that you might find in Poundland or Poundstretcher it obviously doesn't have the kind of long lasting scent that you would expect from a more expensive and better quality deodorant. The scent is best used for nights out but I suppose it can be used at any time really. The problems of a cheap deodorant are here though as this deodorant doesn't last for very long and can leave a distinctive musky scent when it fades but the actual main scent is quite nice if a little strong.
This is a fairly nice smelling deodorant that has the low price on it's side but there are far better deodorants out there, that both smell better and last for longer. I would still recommend this deodorant for those of you looking for a cheap deodorant that will mainly be used as a second or third deodorant if you like to keep products for longer by using alternatives now and again. The deodorant can also be found in Asda and Bodycare for £1.29 which is a decent price and that is also the same price as the accompanying after shave in the Aquatonic Range. So all in all a fairly decent deodorant but there are better options out there, I would recommend giving a tester spray though and see if you like it.
I used to really like this and hadn't used it for ages before I tried it again the other month. Asda was selling this for £1 each, or it was part of the 4 for £3 range at the time. I got 1 of these and a few different Deodorants. £1 seemed good enough, but 75p was certainly better.
This came in the same coloured tin that I remember from years ago. It is a quite wide tin, but tall enough. Just seems a bit dumpy, but it's alright. The colours are green and blue and although i'm sure they don't really go together they work well enough and it stands out against the black and grey tins on the shelves.
So this is a brand name, but after all these years is it still as good? No, I didn't like it. I don't think the smell of this has really changed but I can guess that my taste in smells has. I remember using this probably when I was about 15, and I would probably say this seems to have an old man smell about it. It is dry smelling and a bit powdery. There seems to be a splash of the Sea in here, but really not that much.
Yes, this is certainly best remembered in the past for me, and I had to just throw this out as I wasn't happy smelling of this. Far too powdery smelling and I would say if you like old, dry smelling smells then this could possibily be for you.
"You smell nice". You know you're doing something right when you hear that! Well anything's better than smelling of BO - Body Odour emitting from the underarms. BO is generally emitted by bacteria caused by stale sweat. The sweat can't evaporate easily from the underarms. Strange but true, many people with bad BO are unaware that they smell. In some people the sense of smell has become so rudimentary that there are certain molecules that their noses are simply not sensitive to. They maybe able to smell garlic and curry, but not BO! This has been scientifically proven. Anyway, enough of the science. Simply, there's no excuse these days to go around stinking the place out, making people sick, as the range of deodorants is just incredible. Now Brut from Fabergé is one of the "less fashionable" brands perhaps, I seem to remember in the dark distant past, the slogan of Brut - "The Essence of Man". It's of the "old spice" age I guess, but it is effective and long lasting! It's a deodorant protection, with the fresh and distinctive fragrance of Brut - and it really ain't that bad. I'm hopeless at describing what things actually smell like, but it's Brut, sure you must all know by now (if not, nip down to your local stockist). At the end of the day, you either like it or you don't, so smell it and see. It comes in a 200ml Christmas Tree green coloured can, with simple white Fabergé and Brut Logo, and the words Deodorant Spray on the front. The cap is black, and once removed you can gain access to the button which releases the essence of man. Interesting stuff on the reverse of the can says : Use only as directed - meaning spray it under your armpits, at a distance of around 1
5cm. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents can be harmful or fatal - no idea why you'd wanna do this, but don't. Do not spray near eyes or face, or on sore or broken skin - would hurt I should think. Keep out of reach of children - kids do all sorts of things they shouldn't do. Pressurised container: protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50° C - don't microwave it either. Do not pierce or burn, even after use - just put it in the bin like a good boy. Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material - I remember doing this as a kid, and it's a bit dangerous, so be warned. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking (it's bad for you anyway), during or shortly after use. Use in well ventilated places (don't use it in lifts or caves), avoid prolonged spraying (it's a waste). Extremely flammable (a big red flame symbol reminds you of this). Brut Deodorant contains (sure you are really interested) : Butane, Isobutane, Propane, Fragrance (of man), Denatured Ethanol B, and Isopropyl Myristate - nothing too dangerous. The product is CFC free which means it doesn't cause further damage to our ozone layer. It's not caused me any damage either, doesn't leave any residue, and really does last all day, so I'd give it full marks for effectiveness. The cost of this varies dramatically, I paid £1 for mine last time I was in the UK (yes Poundland), but I've seen it for as much as £2.19. I think £1 is a real bargain. OK, so it's not fashionable, the can is not too shiny, but it makes you smell better, really it does. It really is a case of (that much overused phrase these days) "does exactly what it says on the can". Of course the Bru
t range contains the very famous Aftershave (splash on and spray!), as well as shaving foam, and the all important gift sets. Deodorant is also available as a roll on stick. One last really interesting fact (hehe) I found out is that Brut is a very popular product in Suriname (a South American country for the uneducated), it is taking the lead in the fragrence market.
Brut has come a long way since the days of henry cooper splashing it all over, and the brut aquatonic anti perspirant is living proof. Great fragrance, goes on dry and doesnt drip like many others. Lasts for ages and doesnt stain clothes, the can itself looks smart and not tacky like some other deodorants and the price is very reasonable too. Can be purchased from most pharmacists or high street stores, but i would say its main advantage is it washes off easy and doesnt leave you feeling sticky .
This opinion speaks for the many millions of us who want to combine sweet smells with active lifestyles. It sadly highlights the growing trend towards chalky residue within the anti-perspirant/deodorant world. (Notably, I find that Sure's range of finely scented products also have the tendency to leave cloud formations under my pits!). 'Brut aquatonic' sounds like an oxymoron: mixing the old '70s Brut Man image with something really rather quite classy. Despite these points, it does smell pleasant and comes in a rather attractive canister. A delightful young lady once buried her head in my armpit at the kebab shop. She went for my left pit. This was the one to which Brut Aquatonic was applied (Brand X control canister was used on the other).
This deoderant stains your clothes. I have used this deoderant for a number of years but over the past few months i have noticed that it stains my clothes. I do not know if they have changed the stuff in the can but when you sweat a lot then the deoderant runs onto your clothes and discolours them. It is a shame really because it smells really nice. I highly recommend the normal deoderant though because of the smell. Chicks love it aswell.
