“ Brand: Calvin Klein / Gender: for men / Type: Deodorant Stick / Suitable for: Body „
As a fairly recent convert to deodorant sticks as opposed to my many years' use of deodorant sprays I am encouraged by the fact that the major fashion brands are getting involved with making mens deodorant sticks. I find them so much easier to use, less fussy and simple to apply. Deodorant sticks are also better for the environment and I find them so much more effective at combatting body odour. Pricing is also a key issue I have raised in previous reviews, making the comparison between sticks and sprays gave me the impression that sticks can be much more cost-effective.
The Calvin Klein 'Crave' deodorant stick has been around for a number of years now and comes in a 75ml container, priced at £5.99. Although this isn't one of the 'cost-effective' deodorant sticks I would recommend it is still reasonably well priced compared to some of the more expensive deodorant sprays available. The stick comes in a pure white plastic container with soft orange writing giving details of the product and other useful information such as application instructions. The Crave branding with the arrow in a circle is applied vertically to the container.
As Calvin Klein are well known for their fragrances I did expect a lot of the scent of this product - I were not left disappointed! I am in no way great at describing scents but I am left with the impression it is quite fruity and fresh. Deodorant sticks don't generally give you that burst of fragrance as you apply it, but Crave certainly lives up to its name, with the constant need to sniff the refreshing aroma it leaves on the skin.
The Calvin Klein Crave is a great deodorant stick, and with the scent still fresh in my memory I must award the product 5 out of 5 stars. Although there are many deodorant sticks available for the £2-3 mark, £5.99 is well priced compared to some of the more well-known branded sticks which generally cost £10+!
I got this product as part of a deal when I bought the Calvin Klein Crave aftershave. This deodorant stick has been with me for around 3 years now and there is still a lot of use to be done with it. It actually works really well and has a lovely smell, just like the aftershave. It's very easy to use and does a good job.
The product comes in a plastic white container with orange writing. The container doesn't look like cheap plastic, but has this modern designer feel to it. It has the Crave logo going vertically up with an arrow facing up in a circle, to signify it's for males. Below it says Calvin Klein, Get Fresh Deodorant. It's alcohol free and comes in a 75ml container with a NET weight of 2.6 ounces.
The white and orange colour scheme gives a fresh impression and is unique. It's the same colour scheme as the rest of the Crave collection. The large white cap simply unscrews a fair bit before coming off. Underneath is a faintly yellow tinted deodorant stick. It's a good 3cm wide so gives efficient use. It is slightly translucent and you can see bits in it, which gives it a textured look.
You can quite easily notice the lovely smell once the cap is off. It has a very fresh, summery smell with a slightly strong essence lingering behind. It smells very masculine and pleasant and after use, this smell will remain on you for a while. You can adjust the roll on by turning the very bottom of the stick where a separate piece of the white plastic is able to move, which screws up the stick.
You simply expose the stick and rub it onto your body. It can be used anywhere you like such as armpits and your main body. Not only does it smell great, but also it actually seems to prevent sweat too, working as an anti-perspirant. It may be the texture of the roll on as it has an ever so slightly sticky texture, which covers over your skin.
It feels really nice to rub it along your armpits as it has a soft texture and doesn't hurt at all. It's easy to use, but I have found one problem. Sometimes, it seems to be overly sticky. You will roll some onto your skin and it will make it sticky, so that when you put on a top, it will stick to your skin a bit. This doesn't always happen, and letting it settle down before putting on a top can prevent it. The other annoying thing I found is that sometimes the odd lump comes off the stick onto your body. This can't really be prevented, but you can roll it in more to spread it over.
You can get a 75ml stick for around £10.50 in good beauty stores or the duty free shops you will find at airports. The stick will last you a very long time and is ideal for special occasions as it smells so wonderful and gives your body a long-lasting lovely smell. It also helps to prevent sweat from my experience so it keeps you dry.
