Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Men Deodorant Spray
Advantages: Smells amazing, keeps smelling for a long time
Disadvantages: Nearly £20 for a deodorant is a ridiculous price
When I find an aftershave that I really like and enjoy wearing I like to buy any accompanying products for it too. I was lucky enough to receive a 212 VIP gift set from my sister for Christmas one year and I liked the fragrance so much that I bought myself the matching deodorant so that I could layer the fragrance and make it last even longer. There were two different ones to choose from a roll on and a spray. I decided on buying the spray one as I wanted the one that would have the strongest smell and I assumed that with something that you spray on yourself would be heavier than something you just roll on your underarms.
This smells exactly like the aftershave does for which I was pleased as I have bought accompanying products before and they have smelt slightly different. They usually are designed to go with each other but sometimes that isn't always the case. I knew by just spraying the tester of this that I wouldn't have to worry about it going with the aftershave as it was an almost identical smell.
212 VIP has some really unusual sounding ingredients in it and contains notes such as chilled vodka zubrowska, black pepper, passion fruit, gin tonic, ginger, king wood, leather and amber extreme. Now all these combined give a really heady and musky smelling fragrance that is both masculine and woody. It has a slight sweetness which carries through the muskiness but it isn't sweet by any means and this slight sweetness really compliments the powerfulness of the spiciness. It certainly packs a punch and isn't one for shrinking violets as it is really strong and powerful so because of that you really don't want to apply too much.
The deodorant only differs from the aftershave in the fact that it is ever so slightly lighter than the aftershave. You just use it how you would a normal deodorant and spray some on your underarms and across your body. Layering this with the aftershave and shower gel makes a big difference in how long the scent lasts. Even though 212 VIP is a really long lasting fragrance in the first place this just gives it that added kick.
I like to wear this at night time to go to a bar or club as I think that it really suits that sort of humid environment but it could also easily just be used on its own to enjoy the fragrance in a less intense way. I have worn it myself a few times on its own and I think it really works this way. If not for the fact it was expensive I would happily wear this daily but because it is quite expensive I like to save it to wear with the aftershave.
I bought my can of the deodorant in Debenhams where it cost me £17 and this was it on offer as its rrp is £19.99. Now I know £19.99 is expensive for a deodorant but in its defence you do get a 150ml can and also because it is so strong you only need a couple of sprays but this is the reason why I can't wear it more often because I couldn't justify spending this on a deodorant often so I keep it for special occasions when I am also wearing the aftershave and the shower gel. This is a five star fragrance but because of the price I need to knock a star off.
