Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Advantages: Excellent Smell
Disadvantages: None worth mentioning
Yesterday I reviewed the Allure Homme Deodorant and today I am moving on to my favourite fragrance from Chanel which is Platinum Egoiste and the deodorant for this smell.
Most people are first introduced to the Chanel fragrances through Allure Homme and I find Platinum Egoiste along with Antaeus and Pour Monsieur to be the three that smell the most different to Allure Homme. For Platinum Egoiste the differences lie with the notes that are used in its production. The main notes here are Rosemary and Lavendar whilst the middle notes are a combination of Sage and Galbanum. I am not familiar with the second middle note, however they are vastly different to the middle note of Jamaican Pepper used in Allure Homme.
The smell is very fresh and it oozes class in a different way than other premium brands. I think this is due to it being a lot more modern in its smell. I can't imagine people from decades ago wearing anything like this. It is more of a youthful look and not one personally that I would wear on a daily basis. I would use it more for dates and occasions like this. The longevity is only a few hours but of course you should use the EDT and the aftershave to complement the smell of this deodorant. I like to spray some over my clothes as well as I find clothes seem to hold the smell longer.
This is a brand that a lot of other people enjoy and one of the only deodorants where when I have it on I get complements, but I make a point not to spray too much as I don't want to overpower people with my smell. I think ladies are the biggest culprits sometimes with going overboard with the amount of fragrances they put on and literally leave a trial of smell behind them as they walk.
The one thing I am not too fond of with these deodorants is the nozzle. They are a little fiddly and you need to keep pressing it. I prefer the Lynx style where you can spray yourself in one long spray. It is much more convenient but Chanel have had it this way for years so clearly they don't see anything wrong with it and no one else ever seems to bring it up as an issue so maybe its just me.
Like all Chanel and premium brand deodorants expect to pay more than the Lynx/Adidas type deodorants. From an on-line check i can see the cheapest retailer you can buy this from is Boots and it will set you back £23.
Overall this is my favourite deodorant, just as there is nothing else on the market like it. There are a lot of brands that can imitate the Allure Homme range, more specifically I think Hugo Boss Man is a complete rip off of Allure Homme. However Egoiste is what Diesel Fuel for Life dreams to be like. It is the pinnacle of smells and for a deodorant it has to get five stars from me.
Summary: My favourite deodarant
