      Advantages

      Will use again

I first purchased the dove deodrant stick whilst on holiday in Canada. The stick style seems to be much more popular and widely available in Canada / America than it is in England.

This product is compact and small enough to pop in your handbag whilst traveling. Also, it is a handy alternative to taking an aerosol on planes where the size of the bottle is limited.

It is an easy to use product you simply remove the lid and run the smooth deodorant stick along the under arms. When the stick gets low you simply turn the nozzle at the base of the tube to boost up the stick.

The smell is nice and subtle (I also tried the cool cucumber which I LOVE the smell of). Like many other dove products, the deodorant is kind on the skin and left my underarms feeling very soft. It gives a good amount of protection which lasts the full day. People have asked me if the stick is like using a roll on; not at all! I actually despise the roll on deodorants as I don't like the feeling of the roller ball and feel they leave my underarms wet and not fresh at all. The stick is certainly my preferred choice over spray on's and roll on's.

I found the price to be slightly more expensive than a spray on at around £3.50 per stick however one stick lasted around two months which I feel is great value.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Nothing compares.

I have tried all types of deodorant, spray, roll on and stick. And the stick is my firm favourite. I find sprays don't have any effect and roll ons are horrendously sticky. I have also tried other stick deodorants, and even other dove brands such as the invisible marks version. However, this is just the best, by miles and miles.

It keeps my underarms dry and fresh all day, causes no irritation and feels soothing and moisturising on my freshly shaven skin. Just like the adverts tell you! It feels nice and soft, and really does leave me feeling confident to raise my arms!

The container itself has a wind up mechanism which you should make sure is wound up a bit over the plastic to avoid scratching yourself - ouch. Which is simple enough to use and means you can use absolutely all of it.

I will never stop using this as long as I shall live.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Great travel size little stick for lasting protection.

I am not sure if it's the same for everyone, but I find I have to frequently change my deodorant or it doesn't seem to be as effective. I used to use sprays because I preferred them, but then I found the amazing little Dove Deodorant Dry Stick.

The sticks come in an attractive package, not quite bottle and not quite tube. I have the original one which has a clear blue lid, but I have also seen the Invisible Marks one which has a clear colourless lid. It is nice and plain with the name and the Dove symbol on the front and also has the ¼ sign in a tear drop, which relates to the moisturising cream which is added to keep skin smooth. It also says that it contains no alcohol, but does have vitamins E and F.

When you first use the product, there is a protective plastic layer over the top which you must remove. In order to use, you need to twist the base of the tube to the right which raises the deodorant stick to a level where it can be applied, much like a lipstick.

The deodorant itself is a white solid mass with a very clean smell, like washing powder or shower gel clean, which I really like. It glides on smoothly and isn't sticky or wet like other deodorants. It says it works for 24 hours, and I do always feel fresh (well, as fresh as can be after a 30 minute tube journey) when I get home from work in the evenings.

It is a nice size (40ml), easy to carry round in your handbag just in case you feel the need to reapply throughout the day. In Boots, it will set you back about £2.50

I would definitely recommend it as I use it all the time, and I give this product 5 stars!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I've been using Dove Deodorant Stick for some time now and in my experience it is great. It does everything a deodorant should do! It has a mild fresh scent, which is far from overpowering like some brands. It is kind to my skin, with no drying out or stinging effects. I think it is also good value as the stick lasts a long time. I'm not too loyal to particular brands when it comes to cosmetics, bathing products and fragrances etc, but I make an exception with the Dove Deodorant Stick and never head for anything different on the shelves! I would recommend it fully.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Long lasting and worthwhile purchase for those looking for alternatives to sprays.

All bar a very few exceptions I have used mainly Lynx deodorant sprays and their antiperspirant sprays. I have tried a very few roll-on products - the Dove Deodorant Stick is a similar kind of thing and I have been happy with my experience of this product. The Dove deodorant stick is like no other deodorant product I have tried, but due to its kindness to my skin and effectiveness of keeping body odour at bay I have to say it is extremely worthwhile.

The Dove deodorant stick comes in the typical Dove packaging, a white container with a dark blue cap, and the Dove branding is clear to see along with what the product is. Dove also sell an 'Invisible dry' version of this product, but I use the plain deodorant stick with good effect. I would probably say that this product will be mainly used my women, as men don't tend to use deodorant sticks/roll-ons as much as women.

I love the fact that this product is kind to my skin, and that it leaves me feeling refreshed after use and it is such a simple product to apply. I have found that when I spray my Lynx deodorant sprays they make me cough and get in my eyes, and the deodorant stick from Dove is much kinder to the environment. Dove state that the deodorant stick will give you 24 hours protection and it contains 0% alcohol. I take their word for the alcohol claim and I will also back up their suggestion that the product offers 24hour protection. I have found that deodorant sticks and roll-ons do offer much better protection.

The Dove deodorant stick is so easy to apply, simply twist the bottom of the container and the cream stick comes out - a lot like a Chap stick or lipstick (not that I would know!). The wording on the packaging also states that the product is made up of 1/4 moisturising cream, so it is quite clear that it will be soft and kind on your skin. I have found my skin is kept dry after the use of the deodorant stick, other products have simply left damp marks if I apply them immediately before putting my t-shirt on. The Dove deodorant stick also smells quite distinctly like most Dove products, and I have used the Dove soaps and handwashes in the past for this very reason.

In the long run I would definately say that the Dove deodorant stick is much better to be using than the deodorant sprays I have used in the past. The product is easy to apply and kind to my skin, and most importantly it is effective at keeping me smelling fresh for a long period of time. At just over £2 a stick you might not think that it is very cheap, but the Lynx cans don't last half as long as this deodorant stick and they cost more. I would definately recommend this product to you, whether you are male or female.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This product has disadvantages but they are bareable in return for an effective product

A good deodorant is the best accessory a girl can have. Even thousands of pounds of dress is going to be ruined by sweat patches - vulgar but true!

          Price and availability
This deodorant is slightly higher in price than some of its main competitors (£2.50) but if it works it is worth it. It is available from larger Boots stores but I have had trouble locating it in some of the smaller stores and kiosks, this is also true for Tesco. The deodroant lasts an average amount of time but, annoyingly, often tends to snap when it is near the end leaving you with wasted product (and money) and with little bits of creamy stuff on your carpet - lovely!

          Results
The stick is shaped to make it easier to apply and it goes on faily evenly (much more so than liquid roll-on deodorant). The deodroant takes a while to dry which is frustrating and it does leave white marks on your clothes if you dare to attempt dressing too early.

Despite all of this, this is the only Deodorant that I trust to work so I will put up with the drying time and the crumbling because staying dry and smell free is just far more important.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A good deodrant especially in winter

I love Dove products and have been using this deodrant stick for years.

What I really like about it is that it really does feel like it moisturises my underarms when I have used it. The cream is nice and thick and does not feel sticky when you apply it and I find it just melts into my skin so it makes my skin feel really soft and smooth. It is also very kind and gentle to my skin. I like to use this kind of deodrant in winter as because it is a cream it is not cold when you apply it like spray deodrants are so it feels nicer to use on freezing cold mornings.

I pay about £1.50 for it which is a good reasonable price for a deodrant and because this is a cream it does seem to last for a long time so it is good value for money.

It is very simple to use as you just turn the bottom to move the solid cream at the top up more and then rub it on your underarms. You can use as much or as little as you want.

The smell of this is gorgeous and smells very creamy and fresh and is not at all overpowering and I really like the fact that the smell is noticable all day which shows me that it is working and doing its job.

There are two problems though that I have found with this. One is that it does leave white marks on your clothes if you are not very careful when you get dressed which is a pain to wash off and is a bit annoying. The other is that it doesn't offer me enough protection against sweat patches on very hot days. I know the deodrant is still working because I can still smell it but it doesn't stop me from getting damp which is not ideal. I still use this though as in all other respects it is good and is definately good to use in winter.

          I would recommend this deodrant.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A great deodrant but not 100% effective

I have been using this deodrant for several years now and it is really one of the best.

It is very easy to apply as you just remove the lid and turn the base which moves the cream upwards and then you apply it to your underarms.

With it being a Dove product I have found that it has always been kind to my skin and has never irritated me even though I have sensitive skin and doesn't make my underarms sting even when I apply it straight after shaving. It leaves my underarms feeling soft so it does feel very moisturising.

I think the smell of this deodrant is lovely. It is a very fresh smell which you find with all Dove products and the smell does last all day but is never overpowering which is one of the best things about it.

The only problem with it for me is that in very hot summer it did still leave me with damp patches but the deodrant did still smell lovely.

This is a great deodrant but for me on some days I do need something a little stronger.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Good deodorant

I'm not very brand loyal when it comes to any products really, but I have found that when it comes to deodorants Dove has never let me down.

I have used the aerosol and the roll on varieties up to press, but when I ran out of my current deodorant recently I decided to try this cream stick version..

The deodorant comes in the form of a solid cream. This is housed in an upright standing plastic 'stick' shaped container, and as it is the original fragrance is in the Dove uniform colours of white and blue.

Accessing the cream deodorant is a very simplistic affair as it just involves removing the plastic lid (which covers the cream) and twisting the base. This action controls the amount of cream available via the winding 'mechanism'.

          My experience of using this~
I have been using this now for just short of two weeks and so far have been impressed due to the simpleness of the product.

On removing the lid you notice the clean fresh scent that emanates distinctly, letting you know this is a Dove product.

The appearance of the cream (in solid form) has an almost chalky substance to it, which before applying made me wonder if this would actually stick to my skin.
Applying the deodorant was simple as you just smooth against the skin a few times for even coverage.

The first few occasions I used this I found it left my underarm area feeling really odd in the fact this is a cream, therefore doesn't dry on contact like roll-ons or aerosols do. However this didn't mar it's performance in any way as I later found out.

          Does it work?~
After a very busy day pounding the streets back and forth on the school run, I was slightly paranoid that this would let me down. I applied it firstly after a morning shower and kept discreetly sniffing under my arms at several times during the day to see if it was working. Which it was luckily!
By the evening time the deodorant was still effective and does actually promise 24 hour protection. As I don't go that long between showering I cannot comment on it's performance if left that long though.

This is a really good type of deodorant that I won't hesitate in using again. Its very easy to apply and doesn't sting nor cause (me) any rashes, which certain deodorants in the past have been known to do to my poor delicate underarm area. At first it feels slightly greasy but once you get used to the feeling you don't notice it after a while.

I used this several times whilst wearing dark coloured clothing and was very impressed that it didn't leave any white marks whatsoever.
The cost is anywhere from the £1 mark up to over £2.50 though I paid £1.89 in my local Superdrug store, so do shop around first.

The cream 'stick' comes in a standard 40ml size which though doesn't sound very big the amount you actually use on each application is so minimal that it barely looks used, even after twice a day for two weeks, making this in my eyes an economical buy.

The small size again is ideal for popping in bags whilst out and about safe in the knowledge that if need be you can reapply (though I never had to) without it taking up too much room in your bag.

This Dove product is made by Unilever and more information can be found by looking online at www.unilever.com.

This also claims to be 0% alcohol so why not treat your underarms to the experience?

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

It's OK esp for the price for people who barely sweat

As I do a fair amount of physical activity I place great importance on having a good deodorant and often randomly pick one I've not used before to try it out. This time I picked Dove Original Anti-perspirant deodorant from Tesco for £1.99. I think that's a really good price, considering it does an OK job. I wouldn't say it's the most effective at being Anti-perspirant that I've used (I tend to stick with Mitchum's for that). But it does have a really nice smell, smells clean and fresh although some would find it overwhelming. It says it's 24 hour protection but I very much doubt that as I'm yet to find any deodorant which still has an effect after 6-8 hours. I prefer it to any Dove aerosols I've used and it hasn't left any white marks on me. The application is easy and fairly neat, you just twist the.. twisty-thing at the bottom of the product and the stick comes up bit by bit and then you just wipe it on your underarm. I have also been using this deodorant for another reason. I read online that you can use stick deodorants to help prevent irritations after shaving as there is an ingredient in which disinfects or something so I've been putting this on my legs after shaving and have had no bumps or red marks or anything which is great! Therefore this deodorant is OK for hte price but not the best I've used but I've found this great trick so I will continue to buy it for post-shaving!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Fab product.

When it comes to deodorant I am a big fan of the "stick" variety. Sprays can be awkward and messy, roll on varieties leave you with sticky underarms that take ages to dty. With a stick deodorant, you can apply the product and then get on with whatever you are doing with no fuss or bother.

I am surprised then, how few of this type of product you see in the shops. Last time I went in Wilkinsons, I saw row upon row of sprays and roll ons and hardly any of the stick or cream variety. I was even more upset to see that my usual favourite, Soft and Gentle, had gone from the shelves completely. The closest product I could find was Dove Original, which I had tried before, so I bought that.

The stick comes reasonably priced, at less that £2 for a 40ml container. Thye conainer is white plastic, with a pale blue "pull off" lid. Wehn you first open the container, there is a plastic protective shield over the deodorant stick that you remove before using. This gives you confidence that the product hasn't been tampered with in any way.

You raise the level of the solid stick by twisting the bottom of the container. One twist should raise the level enough for several uses. The deodorant itself has a lovely soapy smell, which in my opinion, could suit men or women. It is a lovely clean fragrance, that smells like you just got out of the shower.

The stick itself is white and has a creamy, slightly waxy texture. It holds together well and does not melt in the heat or crack. When I applied the product it felt more creamy and moisturising than my usual deodorant, but it didn't feel wet, and left my underarms feeling smooth and slightly moisturised, but not greasy.

This is a really effective product. The label on the container says it is effective for 24 hours, and I certainly found this to be true. We have had sweltering weather this week, but the Dove deo stick never let me down once. It prevented me from sweating, while retaining that lovely fresh soapy fragrance.

I suffer from eczema and my skin can be very sensitive, but I had no problems at all with this product and had no skin rections or rashes. I was really impressed with it, especially as the variety I had bought wasn't specifically for sensitive skin. I think it would suit most people with sensitive skin. I should warn however, that it contains Aluminium, which doesn't suit everyone.

The product is made by Unilever, who have a website at www.unilever.com. The packaging is recycleable where facilities exist. The bottle is a handy size for travelling and taking with you in a handbag, although it is so effective, you only need to apply it once a day.

I am now a Dove convert, and will be buying this product regularly from now on. It is convenient, smells great and really works. What's not to love Dove?

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Lovely product

I have used Dove for a number of years. I have tried all sorts of different deodorants, as I have sensitive skin and can't use the sprays. I have tried them all and I find this one to be the best.

It smells nice, but not overpowering like some deodorant sticks, and it dries very quickly. It does leave white marks on your clothes if you don't wait for it to dry, but I have yet to find a deodorant that doesn't. They come off with a damp cloth anyway, but that is only if it isn't properly dry.

I will never deviate from this deodorant as I find it so good. If you have sensitive skin, especially from shaving and things like that, this is a great product to get some moisture into your skin, and it smells nice, and one stick lasts ages.

It is not too expensive and I find it does last all day too.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

You can't sniff at this antiperspirant for value or performance.

When it comes to an everyday essential such as deodorant, I don't think you can be too picky. The effect of an overpowering smell of roses lingering with you all day, or worse, a flakey armpit should not be underestimated.

Having been a fan of aerosol deodorants for many years, the challenge of a smaller budget forced me to consider the efficiency and price of what I had been buying. I discovered that not only are aerosols less kind to the environment, but that they are actually less efficient than deodorant sticks, despite containing less in the way of mls (deodorant stick 40mls; aerosol deodorant 250mls). As a person of average activity and sweat levels (I hope), I was having to buy one aerosol per month, but find that I buy a new Dove stick once every three months.

So, the sticks won it for me. I could have chosen a traditional roll-on, but as a single twenty-something at that time, the idea of 'rolling on the Mum' really did not appeal. I did try some other roll-ons, but found that they generally left a gloopy residue that took a while to dry.

This particular deodorant stick is great. Retailling at around £1.69 it is sold in a compact container which travels well even when squashed mercilessly in a bulging suitcase or weekend bag. It smells fresh, nothing special to be honest, but clean; you can't complain. It is easy to apply, and you only need one to two 'swipes' per armpit for an effective antiperspirant effect which lasts all day. As the stick is gradually worn down, you simply notch it up by turning the base of the product half a rotation. As for the dreaded 'white-marks' I have to be honest: If you put on your figure hugging LBD just after you have put on your Dove, yes, there will probably be a small amount of white residue where you have wriggled into your dress. However, on a daily basis, I have noticed very little transfer of white marks; and much less so than with aerosols.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A great little deodorant that does the job without the annoyances of sprays

For most of my deodorant using life, I've stuck with sprays. I did make a brief foray into the world of roll ons, and while I liked the idea of being able to see what's going onto my skin, and how much of it, I didn't like having to wait around half naked for the stuff to dry before getting dressed. So this deodorant stick sounded like the happy medium.

This deodorant is much more compact than a spray- 12cm high, 6 across. But don't be deceived by its small size- it lasts just as long as a spray. And at £1.85, it's slightly cheaper than its spray equivalent which is always a good thing.

It's really easy to use- just remove the plastic cap, twist the bottom to raise the deodorant stick (like a pritt stick!) and swipe on under your arms. You really don't need very much- just one or two strokes per arm. Unlike roll ons, this doesn't leave your armpits sticky or wet, and dries really quickly because it isn't liquid. A big plus point for this is that it's 'anti white marks', and I can say I've never had any problems with white marks after using this. I do generally give it 30 seconds before I get dressed just to be on the safe side though.

The smell is quite simple and fresh, and a bit milder than the sprays I've tried before. I personally like this, but if you choose your deodorant for its smell, then maybe this would be a bit too subtle. As for its deodorising properties, I haven't had any problems with it, and don't have to reapply it during the day. I'm not sure how well it would last if you do a lot of exercise, or sweat a lot naturally, but for most people, I think this does the job fine.

I'd definitely recommend this deodorant- it's gentle on your skin, very compact and doesn't plague you with white streaks on your clothes. I'm definitely a convert, and can't see myself going back to sprays any time soon!

            My favourite deodorant

            Dove Deodorant Stick

Description: Brand: Dove / Type: Stick / Hypoallergenic antiperspirant. Colorant, preservative and alcohol free. Dermatologically tested.

As a big fan of Dove soap, I was keen to try their deodorant range when they brought it out and the deodorant stick is my favourite way to apply it.

The stick is in a white plastic case with a dark blue plastic lid and the Dove logo on the front. To use, you twist the bottom which pushes the stick up, and then just spread it under your arms. It doesn't feel damp when you apply it like some roll on deodorants can, which is an added bonus for me.

A 400ml deodorant stick costs around £1.85 and can be found in most supermarkets and chemists. You can sometimes buy them on special offer too so they are worth keeping an eye on.

The scent is very similar to Dove soap, very light a fresh. It doesn't smell flowery, but is still quite feminine and applying the stick never leaves you feeling sticky because it glides on very evenly.

I find that this deodorant keeps me feeling dry and fresh all day and is really reliable. Unfortunately, it can occasionally leave white marks on black clothing if you get dressed too quickly, but to be honest, I have noticed the same issue with most deodorants. This one is one of the better ones for white marks though, which is another reason that I keep buying it.

I really recommend this deodorant, it goes on evenly, dries quickly and keeps you smelling and feeling fresh and dry all day without having to reapply.

4 stars from me, simply because of the occasional white marks.
