Over the last few months I've found myself becoming quite brand loyal to Dove when it comes to deodorants. This wasn't a conscious effort, it just sort of happened and it's rather easy to see why.
I don't stay loyal to one particular Dove deodorant product though, I'm still happy to swap and change between them as they all seem to do a good job with only the scent being any different to any of the others.
I'm sure we're all aware of where such products can be purchased by now and I find that pretty much everywhere that sells a decent range of deodorants will sell this one or, at least, different scented ones from the same range. This comes in a whole heap of scents but I think Grapefruit & Lemongrass may be my favourite, or certainly one of them. This comes in a 150ml and 250ml spray (for some reason I don't think Dove decided to make this particular scent in their new 'compressed' cans - I've never seen it anyway) and also a 50ml roll on. My review will discuss the anti-perspirant spray rather than the roll on.
The price varies rather a lot depending on where you buy this item and is nearly always on offer somewhere. The big 250ml bottle cans can often be found for £2 or slightly less whereas the smaller 150ml cans usually cost around the £1.50 mark. I always tend to buy the 250ml cans I feel it's better value for money but if you require something small enough to pop in your hand bag then you would probably prefer a smaller can as this one is rather large.
Typical of Dove, this product comes in rather simple yet elegant looking packaging. The can in a creamy white colour with pale yellow plastic cap. The Dove logo is present on the front along with the Go Fresh logo, a nice drawing of half a yellow grapefruit and some lemongrass along with a little information in rather small writing at the bottom.
Like all similar Dove products this one contains their 'unique ¼ moisturising cream' along with Vitamin E, apparently 'proven to improve the look and feel of underarm skin'. Like pretty much every deodorant now days this claims to give 48h protection although I'm not going to be the one to put that claim to the test.
Pressing down the top of the can releases a quick, powerful burst of deodorant through the nozzle which also leaves quite a gets-on-your-chest type cloud of deodorant. I think just about every spray does this though so I won't hold that against the deodorant. I'll put with this if it works! It doesn't leave any white marks though nor does it dry in a white, flaky mess making my bra look like it's been in a snow storm.
The spray smells lovely. It's a really crisp citrus scent which is very refreshing first thing in the morning. I do think the lemongrass is the more dominate scent but you can detect the sharp, fruity aroma of the grapefruit in there too. I didn't release Dove do a shower gel in this scent as well until recently but I'll definitely be giving that a try now as I really love the smell this has.
What I particularly love about this smell is how long lasting it is. It really lingers on my underarm skin and, if I'm wearing a sleeveless a top, I'll constantly get a whiff of that lovely scent throughout the day whenever I lift my arms up. It does become a little muskier over time although that's a pleasant musk not a B.O musk! Of course this also reassures me the product is doing its job and I don't stink.
I'm definitely satisfied that this product does do the job too. I must admit that I am a fairly sweaty person, without the right protection I'll have damp underarms by the time I've completed my forty-five minute walk to work even in the middle of December. I think the reason I kept going back to Dove is that it's one of the few deodorants I only need to apply once a day to keep my smelling fresh and looking/feeling dry. I'm not sure I trust the 48h claim but 24h definitely and really, how much longer do you need a deodorant to last?
As for the ¼ moisturising cream I can't really say I've noticed any change in the look or feel of my armpits whatsoever since using Dove products on that area. It certainly doesn't irritate my skin and it does feel like it's gentle on such a sensitive area but I can't say I've noticed anything else about it. Fortunately, this isn't a massive deal for me anyway as long as it keeps me dry and keeps me smelling fresh then I'm happy. This deodorant does all of those things perfect so it's five stars from me!
Dove has a mission and one that I love, this mission was started in 2006. They wish to help girls from a young age to develop a strong self-esteem. They wish for them to have the confidence to feel happy and reach their full potential.
Dove is owned by the company unilever and was introduced in 1955. The products are sold in more than 35 countries and include many products like deodorant, lotions, facial care and men's products.
Dove gofresh is an anti-perspirant/ anti-transparent deodorant. It comes in a lovely shaped can and is very clean looking. The design is simple with the can being mostly white with the name of the brand and product on the front, a picture of a lemon slice and some lemon grass. On the back is the usual things, info about the product, directions, ingredients, contact details and the usual caution labels.
I am always trying new deodorants to find the best ones as the one that I really like is expensive at just over £5.00. Like most people we have less money to spend and I need to spend it wisely. I bought the dove gofresh deodorant whilst it was on offer in ASDA, at the time I bought it, it was £2.00 for a 250ml can. I think this is a reasonable price for what I got. I like the packaging; I find it clean and simple. I like the pop of colour of the lid and the soft button on the top.
When I opened it and used it for the first time I found it sprayed well. Like it says it has a lovely fresh smell, not to sweet and just the right amount. It is not strong smell which I like. I found the deodorant part of the spray worked well but the anti-perspirant not as good, by the end of the day I had a little perspiration under the arms but I still smelt fresh. These new deodorants that say they are 48hr or 72hr never seem to live up to the claims though. This one was a 48h one and I don't believe it would last that long. On days of light activity this worked really well but after any hard activity it didn't do so well, I felt I needed to have a quick clean and respray
When spraying the first few times it did come out a little white and left some marks on my clothes. The can lasted a good month with a few days where I used it twice. Overall a reasonable deodorant and good for people who do light activity throughout the day.
Price and Availability
Dove gofresh is available in most high street drugstores and supermarkets. It comes in a 150ml and 250ml size. Prices range from £2.19 for the 150ml and £3.24 for the 250ml. There are some offers at the moment (July 2013) In Boots, Sainsbury's, ASDA and Superdrug.
I usually like to use stick deodorants but for on the go freshness when I am out and about and need a bit of a spray top up I like to use an aerosol. I love Dove deodorants and so like the stick with that manufacturer for both my stick and aerosol.
The Dove Grapefruit and Lemongrass aerosol comes in quite a simple looking can. It's just white with the Dove logo on and then a picture of half a grapefruit with a bit of lemongrass on it. At the top there is a cap which goes over the spray function which I like because it stops it accidentally spraying if, like me, you carry it around in your bag with you. The spray is simple to use. I hold it a ways away from my underarms because I have found if you spray it really close you get that sort of white foam on your underarms as the spray has no where to go. If you spray it fairly far away you still get it on your underarms but you will get no trace of the liquid. It takes a few seconds to dry and then I put my clothes on as normal. The nice thing about having a spray though is if you do need a top up during the day, say when you are going out in the evening you can just use the spray without having to get undressed, a bit of a cheat but it works.
I really like the smell of this aerosol. Its fruity and fresh and not too heavy or citrusy which would be too overpowering. You can smell it on your underarms for a while afterwards but it provides me with a fresh scent and really does keep me clean all day. According to Dove, this aerosol has, "48 hour protection that allows your skin to breathe combined with the crisp, nature-inspired scent of grapefruit & lemongrass. So with an energising sensation for your underarms, you can now feel fresh and clean all day long! go fresh."
I'm not sure I would go 48 hours without a bath or a shower but its nice to know that option is there for me when I use this deodorant! A 250ml can costs £3.69 and will last for a few weeks and is one I recommend.
I love trying new deodorants and body sprays and normally stick to Sure for my anti-perspirant but these were on offer, down to £2 for 150ml. You'll pay about £2.89 for 150ml normally and around £3.69 for the 250ml can which is pricey but they're regularly on offer so keep an eye out.
Dove is a well known skincare brand that makes shower gels, bubble baths, soaps, creams and mositurisers. They also do spray on and roll on deodorants for men and women. It's been around for years so is a trusted brand that you expect good quality from.
The deodorant comes in a round, white can with the Dove logo at the top in big blue letters. This one is called Go fresh and has a picture of a grapefruit and some grass? beneath it. The fairly plain packaging makes me think it's going to be quite gentle to the skin, similar to the Simple range. The lid is bright yellow and just pops off. Beneath it is the spray button which is unlike anything I've seen on other deodorants. It is like a rubber button that you press down to release the spray. I quite like this as I've broken quite a few plastic ones in the past.
I spray this deodorant on before putting clothes on, although they promise to leave no white marks, I'm taking no chances. I hold the can about 25cm away from my underarms and spray a little. The deodorant hasn't got an over-powering smell, it's quite bland but you can smell the fruity, fresh fragrance. It has a bit of a citrusy smell, lemonny and grapefruity. It has a slightly powdery smell though which I don't really like. I find the spray to be quite 'thick' so when I spray it in a small room it chokes me quite a bit and lingers. It's not heavy or powdery on my skin, just when I spray it.
I use the anti-perspirant then a body spray like Charlie or So! ontop for a nicer fragrance. I've found this works well as an anti-perspirant and helps to stop me from sweating or smelling unpleasent throughout the day so it does its job. It's not the nicest smelling deodorant and I don't like the 'fog' when you first spray it as it's quite thick and wouldn't be ideal for use in public or in a small area like a caravan. I think it's quite expensive too at full price but when it's on offer it's reasonable. It's not my favourite deodorant so I probably wouldn't buy it again, I prefer Sure.
As previously mentioned I regularly buy various deodorant brands depending upon where the offers lie as I like to save money on the essentials. Dove is a name we can all trust as it has been used around the house for years, but long gone are the days of the harsh smelling bar of soap - this deodorant is suprising!
Dove is a franchise of the worldwide brand Unilever producing moiturisers, bath foams, shower creams and deodorants now branching into the male toilettries market.
This deodorant comes in a slim tall white bottle with an image and coloured lid to match the particular fragrance. The sizes are 150ml and 250ml, I bought the 250ml on offer in Wilkinsons for £1.49 which is very tall but lasts a long time and sits nicely in the bathroom. The more plain image Dove provides means that the product would appeal to a wider range of ages and audiences.
The scent is nothing like the pungent bar of soap which makes me feel ill! There was a light hint of citrus which was fresh but a small hint of heavy flowers which was not overpowering in this particular variety. Upon spraying the deodorant does not become powdery which is nice as I hate spending twice the time applying deodorant as I have to clean up the mess.
The deodorant lasted throughout the day and kept me smelling fresh without requiring additonal application until the evening.
I Have always been a big fan of Dove products. When it comes to finding a skin care product which is good quality, smells great and totally usable for someone with sensitive skin then Dove is defiantly the brand for you.
I have to say I love this spray and have used it several times. The most important thing for me, personally is to feel confident that I am wearing a spray that is smells great, will not cause irritation and will last throughout the day. Well this spray scores a hatrick!
I felt no irritation from first application till the end of the day. This is fantastic because this has been an issue for me in the past - and there is nothing worse that feeling that stinging itchiness throughout the day.
The smell is not too heavy either, it is very fresh (as you can imagine) and is not too heavily perfumed, but still provides a lightly noticeable fragrance so you know its working.
Last, but most defiantly NOT least is duration. This spray will last for hours - maybe between 8 and 10 - depending on how active you are. So you may want to top up through the day, but the important thing is you don't have to worry when you are wearing it. You have the confidence to continue with your day feeling fresh and not worrying about an easily fading deodorant all day.
I switched to dove a few years ago - i have tried many deoderants and have finally found the one for me! I like this one and also the aloe and cucumber as well. They smell great. Really lovely fresh and fruity scents that last all day. Every time i move my arms about i get another whiff (and i tend to move my arms up and down a lot in my job, over peoples heads and getting close to them, so its a relief to smell nice all day!). It keeps me nice and dry as well, so no dodgy damp patches, also a blessing. I will say that you have to give the can a really good shake, especially the first time you use it, otherwise you get a bit of snowfall! And not 100% free from white marks either. But nothing that won't rub off. Apart from that, it smells great and keeps me dry. Happy armpits!
i don't normally buy spray deodorants i normally use roll on ,but im so glad i brought this one its kind and caring for your skin and dose a great job of protecting it , the smell is great as well makes you feel fresh this is a really good buy and would recommend to family and friends .
Dove is a brand that has placed a lot of integrity in its promotion of inner beauty and self-esteem. Predominantly aimed towards a female market the products successfully combine simplicity with effectiveness in a Minimal, clean fashion. Dove science dedicates time to research and development into products that deliver results while being kind to the skin. Or so they say!
A Fresh, white, smooth 250ml spray bottle with a simple grapefruit and lemon graphic, the white really does stand out on the shelf. Available from most chemists and supermarkets for about £1.80, I purchased mine from boots, so I feel it is good value for money.
Directions For Use:
As with all spray anti perspiration you need to shake well and spray from a distance of about 15 cm.
The grapefruit and lemongrass has a wonderful crisp, natural, soft scent with an energising feel, however is not over powering. With 0% alcohol and 1/4 Dove moisturisers, it is gentle on your skin and I had no irritation even after hair removal, so in my opinion it lives up to its claims. Unfortunately I can't agree completely with the 24 hour protection, although I did have a fresh feeling most of the day it was not as 'strong' as I would have liked. I would use it again, but not on a busy day!!
Having recently tried some of the other Dove products, I decided to try the deodarant spray rather than the roll on. There are no white marks, smells lovely and kept me fresh. I used to use the roll on but found that quite sticky initially - however this does a good job without the stickiness. Love it! I find anti-perspirant sprays stick to the skin where this feels a lot lighter. I didn't need to reapply in a day! Very impressed I have to say. Someone told me to put this on at night BEFORE going to sleep - apparently we should all do this as the body absorbs the anti-perspirant actives in them when we don't sweat. We don't sweat in our sleep so it is the best time to try any anti-perspirant. I don't use deodarants as they only appear to fade any sweat smells, not the actual perspiration problem. Recommended definitely x
I have only just started doing my own shopping so choice of things like deodorant was new to me. As a student I began just buying whatever was on offer and hoping for the best and this happened to be on offer one day.
I haven't looked back since, I love this deodorant. You don't get white marks that stain your black top and you don't get yellow marks on a white top. It makes your underarms feel silky smooth and what made me love it the most is the smell. It's so fresh and what makes it different to other deodorants is that the aroma is often mistaken as a perfume rather than people smelling your deodorant. Its fruity and citrusy, which wakes you up in the morning and keeps you smelling fresh the whole day, whilst also avoiding damp patches as it keeps you dry too.
I would recommend this deodorant to anyone.
This dove deodrant range smells great. Out of all deodrants i stick to Dove deodrants the most, as this is the only one that seems to really do the trick. This lasts all day and even my boyfriend has used it from time to time :). I particularly like the original one and the go fresh (the yellow one). Compared to other deodrants I would definately recommend this. Having used other deodrants in the past, the smell can change during the day however this one stays the same all day. Overall I would give this deodrant a 5/5 rating! I have sensitive skin and I also suffer from Eczema but this does not irritate me at all. Having used other brands such as Sanex, which is apparently good for sensitive skin, I would still choose Dove over those. Even when I have shaved, I do not have any irritation. This overall is the best deodrant I have used (and I have used many!) and I would not consider buying any other now, even if they are on offer. I wouldnt say this was grapefruit, but it smells gorge!
*** word of warning - if you do overdo it and use too much, it does go flaky***
Deodorant is one of those beauty items where I will always go for a brand name when purchasing. I like buying brands that I know I can trust with regards to them working and being worth the cost. The last time I needed deodorant, I got this Dove Spray Go Fresh Grapefruit and Lemongrass as it was on offer and I like citrussy smelling toiletries.
This comes in a tall white bottle with a pale yellow plastic lid. It's very simple, clean-looking packaging, with a picture of a grapefruit slice on the front along with the usual Dove logo. This comes in both a 150ml and a 250ml bottle. I bought the 150ml bottle and it's a nice size to pop into a handbag.
I didn't find that this smelt particularly citrussy, which was disappointed. I love smells like lemon and grapefruit, but this wasn't fruity enough for my tastes. The smell was just sort of fresh, slightly floral even. Having said that, the smell is nice, not unpleasant at all; just not what I expected.
This didn't sting upon application, even after shaving. I found that if I sprayed it in the morning before going to work, I didn't need to respray at any point during my 8 hour working day. It kept me feeling fresh and dry also, so it's good as both an anti-perspirant and deodorant.
ANY WHITE MARKS?
Nope. I wear a lot of black and have never had problems with pulling on a black t-shirt after spraying this. Nor does it go powdery when applied, which I absolutely hate, loathe and detest in a deodorant.
The usual price for this is normally around £2.60; however Sainsbury's have it on offer for £1.30 currently. (The 250ml bottle sells for around £3.50 when full price). £1.30 is a bargain and I would also be happy to pay full price for it - you can't put a price on smelling fresh and deodorised, after all!
WOULD I BUY THIS AGAIN?
Yes, I would definitely buy this again. I have no real complaints about it - I have found it effective and reliable, and I like the smell. Can't ask for much more.
This product was on offer is Asda for a £1. It had a lovely fresh smell, not too overbearing, the product kept me feeling fresh and confident all day and no white marks on my top. It didn't sting even after shaving will buy again.after using for 2 weeks my armpits feel soft and o redness like you sometimes get using products.
I bought this when I spotted it on the shelf in boots and wondered what a grapefruit scented deodorant would be like. I've used dove deodorants in the past and knew that they leave my armpits feeling soft and dry.
It was like other dove deodorants I have used. My armpits didn't feel sticky after I'd sprayed it on and they also stayed nice and soft. All the great points I'd expect from a Dove deodorant.
However, the smell of it is a bit weird. Rather than feeling like I'd just put deodorant one, it seemed as if I'd just used a room freshener. And the smell followed me around for quite a while too (which obviously showed the deodorant was doing it's job properly!) I just couldn't really get used to the smell. I think as a shower gel or soap it would be a really great smell, but for me, it just didn't quite work as a deodorant.
I'll definitely be trying the cucumber one next time which I spotted next to it on the shelf!
