This product has a lovely smell and the roller application is nice and simple - it glides on and doesn't get stuck like some other roll-ons I have tried in the past. The cucumber and green tea scent is very refreshing but not overly strong, a winning combination.
The roll-on is a great size, 50ml, so easy to take in your hand luggage if you are travelling or to pop into your handbag if you think you might need it! It costs around £2 which, though not cheap, I think is reasonable given the quality of the product. It has never left white marks on my clothes (though I do tend to apply my deodorant after putting my tops on which could have something to do with it!) and it lasts for quite a long time, which you might not expect with such a small container.
Having used spray on deodorants for many years, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice roll-on when I decided to make the switch.
I am quite fussy about deodorants and I like to change them every now and again so then my skin doesn't get irritated or too used to them. I picked up this roll on in Boots recently because after a wee sniff, I thought it smelt really nice and thought it looked quite nice so I gave it a go.
The scent of this deodorant is really pretty, it makes me feel quite feminine when I am wearing it, I really like the cucumber and green tea scent. I think this scent is really fresh and zingy and is definitely a nice subtle smell for using under my arms. I do not too perfumed deodorants, but this one has the balance just about right.
This roll on is very easy to use, you simply roll it on under your arms in the morning after washing. I found that it doesn't take much to give a nice smell and good results so I try not to over do it. If I do put too much of this on, it makes my under arms sticky and takes quite a long time to dry, so I like to just use a little.
I really liked this deodorant, it didn't give me any white marks on my clothes or stain or damage them in any way.
I found that the scent from this deodorant lingered nicely throughout the day, but wasn't too sickening or overpowering.
I also found that I was very well protected from sweat throughout the day and I seem to be dry all day when I use this deodorant.
I liked that this roll on didn't irritate my skin as sometime I take allergic reactions to perfumed roll ons.
I really couldn't complain about how this roll on performs and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the cucumber and green tea scent.
Price and Availability
You can buy this deodorant in Boots for £2.35, it is also available in a spray can for around £3.50. I think that this is a little pricey for a deodorant, however because a little goes a long way I think that it is still quite economical and it does smell much nicer than any other deodorants that I have tried so I will probably buy it again.
I really liked this deodorant, it smells really nice, gives me good protection which lasts ages and although it costs a little extra than other deodorants on the market, gives consistent and constant protection. Overall I would give this deodorant 4 out of 5 stars.

I am a lucky person in that for most of the year I live in Spain where it can get very HOT! remember hot? Actually today as I look out the window I can see snow on the hills so don't be too jealous. Well the way that you greet people in our part of Spain is to give them a kiss on each cheek. This is all very friendly but you have to make sure that you smell pleasant all the time just in case you meet some one! Kiss, kiss, hope you smell nice!
To make sure that my friends still want to know me I always apply anti-perspirant and the one that I am currently using is Dove Go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tree Extract. This is the roll on type and comes packaged in a curved white plastic container with a silver Dove logo and a green slice of cucumber and a tea leaf,(green of course). It has a fresh green coloured top which unscrews to reveal the roller ball. On the reverse is a label listing the ingredients in many languages and reminding you not to use it on broken skin and to stop use if irritation occurs. This is the first Dove anti-perspirant that I have used and I have to be honest in that I thought I had bought the lemon grass version until I got it home and realised my mistake.
The top unscrews easily and the roller moves well, the scent is quite hard to describe but it is faintly sweet and cucumberish. I find that I have to wait a little while after using this for it to dry off so bear that in mind if you are doing a refresh on the go, you might have to wave your arms about a bit. It does give me good protection and I am happy with one application a day although the bottle does say that it lasts up to 48 hours. It also bears the little moisture drop logo common to Dove products that means it contains 1/4 moisturising cream and I have found that it leaves my under arms nice and soft with no irritation.
I am not overly impressed. it does not dry fast enough for me and does leave some residue on tight fitting tops. The scent is pleasant but not that exciting but it does stop me from smelling sweaty and the unit at 12cm is small enough to put in my work bag or handbag.I think I will probably try another brand next time or at least another in the Dove range. Mine cost around a pound on special offer for 50ml (small enough to fit in hand luggage) and I think that may be when I would buy another.
4 stars from me.
Made by Unilever, the unit is recyclable.
Thanks for reading my review, I also post on Ciao under spishsplash
I somehow am generally quite a sweaty person and being quite active I can perspire quite easily. I found this particularly traumatic (ok perhaps slight exaggeration there lol) when I was younger as I found I would sweat quite easily and need constant wipe downs and re-applications of anti-perspirant. I found using men's roll on actually much more efficient at combatting this but I notice for some reason men's is far more expensive! My perspiring is not so bad nowadays so if I see a nice one on offer or going for cheap I am more than happy to pick up one, and Dove is always a popular favourite to buy.
It comes in a white plastic bottle, with a top down lid and a green screw cap. It sits upright, in an upside down manner so I don't find that awkward time of the moment when you have to roll a few times to get any liquid onto the roll-ball as it pretty much all flows downwards anyway! The green lid is in accordance with the dainty picture on the roll on of a slice of cucumber with a green tea leaf (ah ha! the fragrance of the deodorant in question!) and looks very girly and delicate on my dresser. Sure, it's pretty basic and simple but that's neither here nor there.
The roll on is easy to use, and comes out evenly as it always annoys me when roll on comes out in heaps leaving my underarm a bit soaking and I have to wait about flapping my arms like a chicken for it to dry! It dries within a matter of seconds and I can get dressed and it doesn't leave any white stains/streaks on my clothes which is a result!
As an anti-perspirant/deodorant this is is a good product as it lasts reasonably long (providing I am not doing extensive exercise e.g. at the gym or anything!) and I have worn this all day at work and felt comfortable and secure at the protection it offers and that I won't be a sweaty betty by the end of the day. It has been good at preventing me from overly perspiring and feeling all hot and sticky on a reasonable weather's day so for this it has been good and something I can't complain about.
My only small niggle about this is the smell. I am not too sure what a combination of green tea and cucumber should actually smell like but it doesn't smell particularly feminine or attractive, and smells a bit like a sour cucumber only! It does smell fresh whilst you sniff the roll on, but when worn it's not too sexy so I just combat this by spritzing myself with some lovely perfume!
I bought this for about £1 on offer and usually costs around £1-£2 from supermarkets/chemists and other retailers. Overall I have been pleased with this roll on and would recommend it, as it does the job and leaves me feeling fresh all day.
For the past couple of years now I have been using roll on deodorants. I think to be honest it's in inner hippy in me worrying about the planet. I usually just go with the flow and buy which ever ones are on offer in the supermarket , but the past couple of months I have been using the same one . I realise that some people prefer the sprays rather than the roll-ons, I just feel I can't breathe when someone nearby sprays a deodorant.
Dove is a very popular brand which is owned by unilever and the logo is a silhouette of a bird.
Dove go fresh cucumber and green tea anti perspirant 50 ml 0% alcohol free
The item is about the size of your palm and is tooth spaced if that makes sense. The bottle is mainly white with an eye catching green screw top . It has the dove design on the front and a picture of a cucumber on it.
The deodorant I found to be really creamy thick, others seem watery in comparison. What i noticed straight away was the fragrance. It's a really strong fresh cucumber smell and has a hint of green tea. Once applied you instantly feel fresh.
What I also noticed was the actual top needs to be clicked to ensure that the item is locked .unfortunately for me this has happened a couple of times while its been in my bag. So i have had a sticky nice smelling purse .
The product is very handy for a small bag and is available at most major supermarkets.
I usually buy when on off for half price and stock up.
I always use roll on deodorant but when one comes to an end I like to change the brand or fragrance that I use. So when mine was coming to an end I went to my local chemist to pick up another one. Our chemist always has really good deals on that's why I go there for a lot of my toiletries, this particular time they had Dove go fresh cucumber and green tea antiperspirant for just one pound so I couldn't refuse it.
It was in a white, slim plastic bottle with a pale green lid on the bottom. I like the products with the lid on the bottom as you don't spend most of your time shaking the bottle trying to get something out of it and even when it is coming to an end it is still easy to get the product out. The label on the bottle had a small picture of what the fragrance was (a slice of cucumber and a tea leaf),it was fairly basic but said all it needed to say.
The product itself has a fresh light smell that wasn't too over powering but that you could notice was there. It was fairly wet and took a couple of minutes to dry but all roll on deodorants are like that so that wasn't an issue for me. It kept my underarms dry and fresh all day without having to top it up and after a few days I noticed my underarms feeling soft and smooth. I wear a lot of black so it is important for me not to have any white marks on my clothes and with this deodorant I didn't have one white mark the whole time I used it. This product lasted me about two months which for the money I paid for it was a great bargain.
The only thing I found wrong with this deodorant was that as I came to the end of using it it started to smell a bit odd. I don't know whether it was because I was getting used to the smell of it of because it had gone slightly past its best but the smell was not as strong as when I first started using it or as fresh and light smelling as it had once been. It was only like this the last couple of times I used it so I'm not sure if it was just the one bottle I had used or whether this always happens. Other than that I was very pleased with this deodorant.
I purchased this deodorant a few weeks ago, and have used it 3 or 4 times since. I have used Dove deodorant before, and have been reasonably satisfied, so I thought that I would give this one a go. To begin with, the roll on does have a very refreshing, feminine smell to it, it is very subtle and natural smelling, which makes a change to the majority of perfume filled roll ons in the shops at the moment. However, when I put the deodorant on, it was almost like a white slime, I didn't have to put very much on, but I had to sit with my arms in the air for a few minutes to actually get the stuff to dry. I then went out to a party. About two hours into the night, I felt sweaty and had to re-apply the roll on, and once again, sit in the toilets of a club, waiting for it to dry. Of course, this happened again later on in the night, to which I just decided to cover myself in perfume. I gave it another try as the roll on does not promise to protect for a certain amount of hours, but still, I didn't feel completely comfortable with it. I tend to sweat quite a bit, so maybe it is something to do with that, but still, I was dissappointed that the deodorant couldn't give me protection for a few hours. The application is also a very sticky, potentially messy situation, not the kind of thing you would expect from Dove. All in all, I wouldn't purchase again. Aside the lovely smell, the deodorant didn't do what it should have ( In my eyes, anyway).
I'm not someone who actually buys or uses roll on and I usually opt for a spray one. However the other day I was in my local Wilkinson's store and spotted the Dove range of products on offer and this costing only 95p, I decided to give it a go as I really do like Dove products as a rule and actually needed some as I was running out anyway and fancied a change.
Well this comes in a neat and rather unisex style bottle which is white and with green a lid to the base of it and its a plastic bottle. On the front of it we are told it is Dove 'Go Fresh', Cucumber & green tea scent, and that it offers 24h protection, contains 0% alcohol an that it is indeed an anti-perspirant/anti-transpirant deodorant On the back of the bottle other information listed includes ingredients and the size being stated (which in this case is 50ml) and contact details for unilever (the manufacturer of the product) are also given. Nice enough, simple and easy enough to use bottle this is and I do like the fact that the roller ball in this is situated at the bottom of it for ease of use.
Well of course you use this as you would any other roll deodorant of course and its best to use it on clean and healthy skin.
This has a large frosted roller ball to it and the liquid that it dispensed comes out clear and wet. The only thing I don't like about this particular deodorant is the scent. It is quite sickly and sweet with a weird aroma of cucumber to it that smells anything but natural to my nasal passages! I don't like it and the scent does linger once applied for a good few hours though does calm down scent wise after a while, sorry I just don't like it one bit!
However the liquid is fast drying, none sticky or drying and is kind to my skin, leaving it soft and supple though not greasy or anything adverse at all to be fair to it.
Its a good worker too, I wouldn't call myself a sweaty sort of person but once I've applied this it keeps any nasty niffs very at bay for me!
All in all this is a good quality and quick, comfy drying roll on however I wouldn't buy this particular one again purely down the weird, sickly smell it has...other than that, if you like the scent of it go for it!
If you can't find this on offer as I did do expect to pay closer to the 2 quid mark in all good supermarkets and chemists etc and other fragrances are also available.
This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
Lets face it there is nothing worse than smelling of B.O or having sweat patches on your favourite top, but this antiperspirant is small and compact enough to fit in any handbag so can be taken anywhere and everywhere!
This is the first time I have used roll on, I normally use the dove spray but I wanted something small enough to fit into a handbag on nights out without it taking up too much space.
The product comes in a white tube with screw off green lid, on the front is the dove logo and information that the product contains 0% alcohol and can last for 24 hours. The flavour if thats what you would call it is green tea and cucumber, personally I don't think it smells of any of these but its still a pleasant smell without being overpowering.
I have found that once you screw off the green lid you are able to apply to roll on straight away, it does not require a shake to get the liquid moving.
On the back is a label that has to be peeled and pulled upwards to show the information, on here you will find a list contact details for DOVE in over 10 countrys such as UK, Ireland, France and Austria.
The dimensions of the product are 11.5 centimetres long and 5 centimetres at its widest point.
I would recommend this roll on to anyone as it lasts all day and has a clean fresh smell that doesn't give you a headache.
This product can be picked up at most shops, I got mine from Asda for £1 and its lasted a long time.
Dove antiperspirant deodorant
I never get the same deodorant after I have used it, I guess I like experimenting with different kinds, and I have never yet found a deodorant that I absolutely love. So when I saw Dove go fresh antiperspirant deodorant for £1 in ASDA, I decided I would give yet another deodorant/antiperspirant a go.
Dove go fresh antiperspirant deodorant claims to give 24 hour protection while still allowing your skin to breathe, and It also claims to have a cucumber & green tea scent. So brilliant, a deodorant that keeps me dry for 24 hours, and stops me smelling! It also says that it is ¼ moisturiser and that it has 0% alcohol in it.
The deodorant/antiperspirant comes in a small white and green bottle. The lid twists on and off easily. On the front of the bottle it has a picture of a cucumber and some information about the product, and on the back of the bottle it has a list of ingredients. The bottle is quite attractive really and a lot nicer then some other deodorant bottles I have seen before.
When applying the roll on, you just take off the lid and roll the deodorant all over your armpits. The deodorant left the bottle and went onto my armpits easily, I have no complaints with that. When the deodorant was on my armpits it did take a while to dry before I could put on my clothes. I found myself wafting my arms around the room trying to get it to dry a bit quicker. I could tell that this deodorant was quite moisturising, and it didn't irritate my skin at all when I applied it, which is very good news as my skin is quite sensitive!
I had never really smelt cucumbers or green tea before, so I wasn't very familiar with the scent, but when I smelt the deodorant I must say that I really really liked the smell of it! It was a really light fresh scent, almost a tiny bit flowery! But don't let the flowery part put you off, it really is a nice refreshing scent.
So the main thing I wanted this product to do, was to stop me smelling, and to stop me sweating. So did it live up to its 24 hour claim? By the end of the day I smelt my armpits and I could still smell the slight scent of the cucumber and green tea. It definitely wasn't as strong as when I first had applied it, but I didn't smell of B.O. so it was all good!
So did it stop me sweating? Well on the days I didn't do much and I just hung around at home, then yes there was no sweat patches. But on some days when I had been on walks in the heat or had been running around all day, and if I was wearing tops that were tight to my armpits then I must admit there were sometimes small sweat patches.
So overall this product did stop me smelling, and sometimes it stopped me sweating but not all the time (and I don't consider myself to be a very sweaty person anyway). I think it makes a good deodorant but not the best antiperspirant. I think it is more of a 12 hour protection, rather then 24! I will still continue trying out different deodorants/antiperspirants. But if I wanted one on a bargain price, I would definitely buy this again, it is one of the nicest smelling deodorant/antiperspirants I have ever used, just wish it was a little bit better at the antiperspirant part!
Deodorants are a necessity for all of us so why is it so hard to find the one we like best? Is it a case of too much choice or just too much pickiness? I mean, there's nothing actually wrong with the ones I've tried yet they still don't seem quite right. Anyway, on my last visit to Boots I picked up a couple of Dove deodorants (two different scents so some of this may be repeated). I chose Dove quite simply because it's become a household name and is known not only for the quality of their products but also for being gentle on skin. This review is for their cucumber and green tea roll on.
I've stopped describing packaging in most my reviews but this I feel is especially well designed so deserves a mention.
This deodorant stands on it's lid. I like this in most products but especially roll on deodorants as it means you can get every last drop out.
The tub (for lack of a better word to describe it!) is quite thick at the bottom. About the size of your average ball on a roll on but very thin at the bottom. Whilst at first glance this does seem to be a strange shape it does mean that it fits in your hand very easily when using it, it seems almost a natural fit in my hand. The lid is green which corresponds with the scent.
The label on the front tells me that this provides 24hour protection and 0% alcohol. Now I'll admit to not knowing too much when it comes to ingredients for things like this but the ingredients do list benzyl alcohol so maybe this is a bit misleading. I do realise that benzyl alcohol is produced by plants but it's still an alcohol right?
I'll admit to being a bit put off by the idea of the scent. I mean, I'm all for fruity scents and I'm even developing a like for floral scents but cucumber? Even worse, green tea?
I did smell it in the shop to try and check if I'd like it but I couldn't really smell anything. However, I had it now so I might as well give it a go.
When I first rolled it on, it smelt of cucumbers this was a bit strange but actually not as odd as I thought it might be. Once it had been on a while though the scent became a really delicate floral scent - much more appealing!
I never seem to learn. I know applying deodorant after shaving stings, yet I do it every single day without fail. Therefore, a deodorant that can ideally remove this problem completely or at the very least reduce it is essential for me. I was pleasantly surprised that this deodorant didn't sting at all, even when used immediately after shaving.
It rolled on easily being damp but not too wet and drying almost immediately. The ball didn't stick and rolled across my skin with no problems even as I came to the end of the tub.
My days vary, I work from home so some days I'm pretty inactive. Other days I'm rushed off my feet and busy from the minute I get up to the minute I go to sleep. This deodorant coped really well no matter what my day was like.
The scent lingered on my skin for several hours. It didn't quite last all day but even after the scent ran out I was left dry and feeling fresh. There's nothing more embarrassing then wet patches under the arms of my t-shirt, fortunately I didn't find that at all with this.
It didn't mark my tops no matter how dark they were, this goes for the inside as well as the outside. It also didn't irritate my skin at all, even when I'd damaged it shaving.
It's not the solution I've been looking for, as I said at the start I'm not really sure why. The scent lasted a long time, it kept me fresh and dry and it didn't sting so there's nothing wrong with it. Maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist! That said, I am going to give it 5 out of 5 and recommend it because I can't find fault with it and it is one I would be happy to come back to.
Price And Availability
As I said, I bought mine from Boots and a 50ml roll on cost £2.15 but it is widely available from chemists and supermarkets. As with anything though prices do vary so shop around.
golferinfr's Full Review: Unilever Dove go fresh Anti Perspirant & Deodorant...
I went shopping last week and bought a 2 pack for $4.00 U.S. Dollars.. I lifted the cap at the store and was instantly bought with the smell of cucumber. The plastic shell body fits comfortably around your fingers with the 3 inch width body. The next morning I showered and did my normal 4 swipes and proceeded with my day. We laid mulch that whole morning and knew I picked up a good sweat in my snow suit, the rest of the afternoon was all office and shed work getting ready for Spring. I took another shower after work made dinner and got comfortable and I caught drifts of that Cucumber smell and new I was still protected when I went to bed a while later.
The deodorant head is just over two inches, but there is a warning on the label that people with kidney disease should not use this product. The active ingredient is Aluminum Zirconinum Tetrachlorohydrex when applied goes on cool and stays cool and if you are physically active yes you will get a wet spot under your arms and a fair warning there is Castor Oil in this underarm deodorant and I have found it to lightly stain my tee-shirts, but it can be from me with all the chemicals I use daily in my prescriptions.
Overall my experience with this Dove Ultimate Cool Essentials Deodorant is a excellent one so far. I like the way it only take 4 gentle swipes and I protected until I was it off. I find that the plastic body to conform uni-sexually and it is easier to say that a woman would enjoy this fragrance more than a brawny man would kind of back away from it. I've been complimented on it twice by women who thought it was a cologne I was wearing. So I will take compliments any day of the week and it's so much better smelling like this than that skunk you just passed dead on the road and then Bamm!!!
Thanks for reading !!!

Deodorant is one of those things I never really think about, unless to complain. A bit like toothpaste, it's one of those everyday items that doesn't warrant much consideration. I am a fickle roll on user and move from brand to brand based on anything from promotional pricing to general whims. I bought this one because it was cheap and I needed a few to bring out to Africa, but I have been very impressed with it.
A few days ago I was half way to work (a 30 minute walk in the scorching sun) when I had a moment of doubt about whether or not I'd put on deodorant that morning. Normally I never forget, but I'd been sorting through my laundry while getting changed, and somehow managed to go from underwear to dress to out the door without stopping to think. I really noticed it that day, and it made me realise how good this product is, precisely because I've never had to stop and think about it before.
This 'Cucumber and Green Tea' scented version smells mildly of these things. It's not overpowering, but it smells light and fresh, though this applies more to the product than to me as I find this has very little detectable smell to it once it is applied. That's ok, though: smelling of nothing is much better than smelling of something bad.
It is 0% alcohol which means it doesn't sting when you apply it as some tend to, and it is both an anti-perspirant and a deodorant, which means it reduces how much you sweat, and stops you smelling too. I can attest to the fact that it works on both these counts, as that fateful day I felt all wet and whiffy. It also boasts a 24hour claim which is fine if you don't wash it off, but since I'm showering at least twice a day here, it doesn't last that long.
I really like the way product packaging has improved dramatically in design over recent years. This item, for example, stores with the roller tip down, so you get every last drop out as it's working with, not against, gravity. There is a solid cap too which makes it easy to stand up, but it's nice and compact so can fit next to a sink or on a dressing table or wherever, without taking up too much room. The lid locks securely in place with a click which means you can safely chuck it in your back to take with you without worrying that it will leak everywhere, though I have noticed a bit of residue inside the lid itself as a result of the way you stand it. It's not so much that I feel it's wasting itself, but it is noticeable.
I think this is a well made product as the roller never jams or gets clogged up with the liquid inside. On application it has only the tinniest sheen of colour and quickly dries clear. I have never had it leave white marks on my clothes, and I do have the bad habit of getting dressed, even in black tops, straight after applying it rather than walking around and letting it dry first.
I have tried this deodorant in the hottest of climates and the toughest of days, where I've been on my feet for up to 9 hours trekking around (if you'd seen the state of the roads here, you wouldn't call it walking). I might have thought I'd evolved beyond sweating, were it not for that forgetful day, but I've clearly not, and my saving grace has been this roll on. It keeps my underarms dry and fresh smelling all day. It's quite telling that the driest part of any t-shirts I take off is now the underarm section. Now they just need to invent one for foreheads / feet / backs and I'd be sorted.
Highly recommended for a simple but effective product.
I got mine on offer for £1 in a supermarket. It's lasted me 6 weeks already, and it feels like there's still a fair bit left.
I have been using the Dove Go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tea Antiperspirant since discovering it a year ago, and would not revert to another brand at this point. As well as being inexpensive and effective, it has a beautiful fresh scent that reminds me of summer gardens after the rain.
The antiperspirant stands at a height of 11.5cm, and comes in tubular container with a flat bottom for easy storing on your shelf. The design is such that the ball sits beneath the liquid antiperspirant, so that when you come to use the product there is no need to shake it to force the liquid to come into physical contact with the ball. This is much improved on previous designs, and ensures very little effort is required on the part of the consumer. On the front label there is an image of a cucumber slice and mint leaf, the colours of which compliment the lid of the product, which is coloured a cool, clear green. There is a groove running down the length of each side of the container, which is very useful when gripping it to apply the product. Given that the plastic from which the container is comprised is so smooth to the touch, it can easily escape your grasp should your hands be slippery with the deodorant itself, cream, etc. The Dove logo is prominent on the front label, and on the back of the product is the list of ingredients and a peel-back label that details contact information, should you have any queries. The lid screws on and off in a simple action, and clicks securely back into position when you have finished using it. This is very useful in preventing any of the product from leaking out. You can unscrew the cap to reveal the ball, which will move fluidly over your skin with little resistance. The ball is comprised of semi-transparent plastic that slots tightly into the mouth of the canister, with no gaps for the product to seep out on any side. The container is recyclable, too.
Applying the product is a simple case of unscrewing the cap, positioning the ball on your underarm skin and dragging if over your underarm area to distribute the antiperspirant as required. When the product emerges it is cool and untextured, so feels pleasant and refreshing. The liquid is fairly thick, so there is no need to apply more than one coat. After application the product takes around three minutes to fully dry, and I would recommend that you wait for the full three minutes to elapse before allowing fabric to come into contact with your underarm. This is because although the deodorant will not leave a white residue on your clothing, it has a tendency to leave an oily trace on some types of material. On durable fabrics such as cotton and polyester this trace can be easily removed by washing. The liquid does not contain alcohol, so is kind to skin and its tendency to induce irritability is greatly reduced. I have often applied the deodorant after shaving my underarms, and providing the skin has not been cut and is not sore, I never experience any irritability or stinging as a result of applying the product. If I do have any cuts or grazed areas the product may cause some mild stinging for a minute or so, but thereafter rapidly subsides. The product is not recommended for use on broken skin, or on areas afflicted by skin conditions such as eczema. As the deodorant contains ¼ moisturising lotion it is very gentle, and after a few days you will notice that your underarms are significantly softer to the touch.
The deodorant contains the following ingredients:
- Alminium Chlorohydrate
- Helianthus Annuus seed oil
- Citric acid
- Potassium lactate
- Alpha Isomethyl Ionone
- Benzyl alcohol
- Butylphenyl Methylpropional
- Hexyl cinnamal
The product claims to be effective for up to twenty-four hours. However, I have found this claim to be somewhat optimistic. Applying the deodorant first thing in the morning, and doing a considerable amount of gentle activity such as walking during the day, personally I find the product to be successful for around fifteen hours. After this period has elapsed its effect tends to wear off and, being an often troubled sleeper, I like to apply a slick of the anti-perspirant before bed, as well. In applying the product twice a day in this manner, I find that a 50ml bottle will last around three months.
A 50ml bottle of Go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tea anti-perspirant is available from most chemists, pharmacists and supermarkets at various prices. I often purchase mine from Sainsbury's, where they periodically offer the deodorant for half the regular price of £1.62, bringing it down to 81p. Alternatively, it is available online from the following sources:
£1.15 from lifeandlooks.com
£1.63 from oneclickpharmacy.co.uk
£1.89 from boots.com
Other products in the Dove Go Fresh range are Waterlily and Spearmint and Grapefruit and Lemongrass. I also enjoy the Waterlily and Spearmint variety, for its light, fresh scent. I find the Grapefruit and Lemongrass variety to be a little sour in smell, although both are as effective as the Cucumber and Green Tea product. These scents are also available in spray form as anti-perspirants.
I love this product and would not alter my choice of anti-perspirant now, as the beautiful fragrance, effective design and longevity of this creation surpasses that of all deodorants I have tried in the past. Below I have summarised my thoughts on the anti-perspirant in three main categories. I would highly recommend the Go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tea deodorant.
I am very fond of the range of products that Dove has to offer and I use many of them. When I was walking around Morrison's I saw there was a new scented roll on, when reading the scent "Cucumber and green tea" I was a little unsure if I'd like it or not but for £1.88 I thought I'd buy one to try.
When opening the deodorant as usual for new roll on deodorants I used my finger to get the ball rolling as they are quite stiff and dry. Once I got the ball rolling I applied the deodorant, immediately I could smell the cucumber, it is such a fresh scent I was surprised at how much I liked it. To be honest though I couldn't smell the green tea but I'm sure its there somewhere. I feel that as an antiperspirant it works well depending on the level of activity, I've been able to go out for a while, moving around and still smelt very fresh.
When applying this product to freshly shaved armpits I find that it doesn't sting or feel any irritation like other deodorants may cause. Also when applying this deodorant I would recommend waiting for it to dry before putting any clothing over it, it doesn't take long to dry and once dry doesn't leave any white marks.
I really like how when closing the roll on it clicks when its closed. I find this very useful because I know once I hear that click its locked into placed and not left slightly open causing the roll on to dry out. I also thought it may be worth mentioning that it contains 0% Alcohol.
The only disadvantage I can think of is after a while of using the deodorant the outer part of the product can get somewhat sticky near the top due to the deodorant going onto it. I find after using the roll on each time its best just to wipe the outer part with a tissue removing any deodorant which may have gone on to it.
The size of the roll on is 50ml, using this daily I find that they last quite a while. They are also known to go on offer quite a lot for either buy one get one free or £1 each at Boots.
