The Dove Compressed Grapefruit & Lemongrass Antiperspirant is available for GBP 3.50.
The deodorant is described as follows. "Dove compressed with ¼ moisturisers. Effective protection plus care in a little can. Use Dove compressed just like your normal 250ml Dove aerosol and it will last just as long. The crisp, nature-inspired scent of energising grapefruit and lemongrass - absolutely. So with a freshingly light sensation for your underarms, you can now feel fresh and clean all day long! Wake up. Go fresh."
The ingredients are Butane, Isobutane, Propane, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Cyclopentasiloxane, Parfum, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dimethiconol, Octyldodecanol, BHT, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Hexyl Limonene and Linalool.
The deodorant is designed in a simple white with predominantly black writing, a few words were highlighted in orange. The cover is yellow and on the bottle is a subtle picture of a grapefruit and lemongrass. I think all in all a very nice design. I love this deodorant, it smells wonderfully fresh and especially in the summer this is the perfect fragrance and perfect care for shoulders. The smell ago I think it is fantastic. It's nice and fresh, pleasant, subtle and not so pushy. I could see over the whole day light scent waves of citrus, where the smell is not at all artificial. From Grapefruit I could sniff out anything directly, as a whole, the deodorant provides a great, fruity fragrance. In the beginning I had some once sprayed too much and therefore White residues were perceiving. But that was my own fault, and then did not get before, when I had dosed the deodorant something more economical. Then white patches remained out of black clothes, which I prefer. It lasts all day with me.
Item: Dove Go Fresh Deoderant
Fragrance: Cucumber & Green Tea
Bought in: Asda
This is the travel size can and I bought it for taking on a weekend away to save packing space.
Packaging and design:
This comes in a white can with a green lid. The lid is made of a clouded green plastic and easily passes my test of staying securely closed in my bag. In fact you need to use both hands to pull the lid off the can. The can is white with Dove written across it in dark blue with a grey dove outline below it (in the original Dove colours) and the rest of the writing is in pale green and grey. It also says "Go fresh, cucumber & green tea leaf, anti-perspiring deoderant". It has a picture of a cucumber slice and a green tea leaf pictured too so you can see the fragrance in picture as well as words. The front of the can is very fresh looking. The back of the can is very text heavy and has details of ingredients and directions for use.
Scent and lasting anti-perspirant action:
This smells so fresh. It smells of sugary cucumber, I don't really detect green tea, I smell more a mix of cucumber and vanilla. The scent lasts really well all day. It states "48 hours" on the can but happily I've never had to rely on it for that long. Longest I've worn it has been around 10 hours and all through the day when I move my arms about I get a nice waft of the sweet (not sweat haha) smell. It hasn't made any white marks on my clothes either. I usually spray it for around 5 seconds in each armpit and that seems to be plenty. I've used it 4 times now and the can still feels at least half full. I'm not sure if it stops me sweating as have been in varying locations/weathers when using it, but I certainly does not leave me smelling of sweat.
Overall really happy with this. Price per ml is much higher than if I bought a larger can but the value is in that it is so easy to pop in your bag and can go through in hand luggage at airports too. Smells lovely and has a reliable lid too!
I got this in Asda for 99p at the travel section but was part of a 4 for price of 3 so you can keep costs down a bit by bulk buying them.
I love the Dove range and use alot of the toilettries however I find them pricer than other brands so do watch out for them on offers which does seem to happen pretty regulariy. The deodorants come in 2 different sizes, a 150ml is about £2.60 and a 250ml tin is about £3.70 and can be found in chemists and supermarkets.
There are a couple of difference fragrances in the Go Fresh Deodornat range and personally I have the cucumber and green tea scent which I think is lovely. The deodorant comes in a mainly white tin and mine has a pale green push on plastic lid and then little green bits on the tin such as the Go Fresh name and a picture of a slice of cucumber and a leaf.
The deodorant is made by Unilever and on the back of the tin you are given their contact details, also on the back of the tin is the promise of 48 hour protection and you are told it contains 1/4 moisturising cream and vitamin E.
To use the deodorant you have to shake the tin and then holding about 15cm away from under your arms simply spray, the deodorant comes out pretty powerful and a little spray each side is plenty so you don't actually use much of the product. The deodorant doesn't cause any white marks on black tops which is a big must in my opinion as I think white deodorant marks looks awful. The deodorant feels dry pretty much as soon as it hits your skin and it doesn't dry out my underarm.
I think the deodorant smells really fresh and I love the cucumber smell to it, you can smell the deodorant throughout the day and I don't feel the need to reapply which is great however it certainly doesn't last 48 hours as it promises and I would say 24 hours would be pushing it, I certainly can't smell it the morning after I have applied it.
I think this is a really nice deodorant, it smells lovely and I really feel protected and with my job as a carer we run around and as it is older people who feel the cold we work with the heat in work is ridiculous yet I still don't sweat an feel confident I smell nice. I wouldn't ever buy the item at full price simply as there are others that are just as good so I simply stock up when I see it on offer.
I bought this a while back because 1. It was on offer and 2. The title of the scent drew me in.
Pomegrante flavoured deodorant? Sounds good to me.
250ml is a large, white can, which uses a refreshing colour palette and gives you the feeling of freshness - just by looking at it! Mine has a picture of half a pomegranate and some lemon leaves. On the back is the normal info you would get on deodorants, directions, warnings and ingredients.
In the information, this deodorant claims 48hr protection, 1/4 moisturising cream & vitamin E, improves the look and feel of underarm skin, and to feel fresh and clean all day.
It is a anti-perspirant deo with 0% alcohol which is nice!
Usage - I use this everyday and the most noticeable thing about it is the gorgeous smell, mm!
Pomegranate is very strong and fruity, and the slight lemon scent combines perfectly with the pomegranate. It is the best smelling deodorant I've ever used, which made me buy it again when I next ran out. I'm not sure if it will be my staple deodorant from now on but I do know that I will keep coming back to this if there's nothing else I would rather have. Spray like a normal deo, onto armpits from a distance.
It does create a huge cloud of very strong smelling mist, which can linger for quite a while. But as it is a nice smell in my eyes (or nose) then it's not too bad.
Claims - Well it doesn't last for 48 hours, but I swear no deodorants ever do. Maybe you can still smell it after 48 hours but I would of definitely have sweated by then, because if I was wearing it for 48 hours straight I was probably partying haha. It does last a while, but I sweat quite easily, even in winter if I am wearing a warm coat. It does soften the skin. I did notice that my underarms were really soft even though I shave. Fresh and clean all day - hmm not so much, it does last for a few hours but I can easily reapply another two times in a day and night.
Overall - If you are looking for a deodorant with a unique smell that isn't a typical deodorant smell, then you should try this. Fairly good protection. Lasts a good while. It's like a body spray and deodorant in one. Yay!
I always use an anti-perspirant deodorant every day because I find that without it I sweat. Sweaty armpits are a no no and even if I've just had a bath or shower without anti-perspirant I can feel dirty and sweaty again very quickly. When choosing an anti-perspirant I'm not fussy, as long as it keeps me dry and smells nice I'm happy. I usually go for whatever is on offer at the time so am frequently switching brands. Dove Gof Fresh is one of the deodorants I most recently.
Dove Go Fresh is an anti-perspirant that promises 48 hours protection. It contains their unique 1/4 moisturising cream and Vitamin E which it states on the can is proven to improve the look and feel of underam skin. That's not something I go looking for in a deodorant but is a nice added benefit. It's available in either a 50 ml roll for £1.17 on or a 250ml spray priced at £1.84. It comes in 3 scents pomegranate and lemon verbena, cucumber and grapefruit. I chose the pomegranate in a spray. On the back of the bottle the deodorant is described: "The crisp, nature-inspired fragrance of pomegranate and lemon verbena leaves a refreshingly light sensation for your underarms , you can now feel fresh and clean all day long! Wake up. Go Fresh.
Directions for use aren't are as usual with any deodorant, shake well, hold the can 15cm from your underam and spray. It also states on the can that this is for underarm use only.
I've just used up the last of this deodorant and found it lasted me quite a while using is once daily. I think I got about 3 weeks use out of it. The scent is beautiful and really really fresh smelling. You can definitely smell the lemon mixed with something a bit more floral smelling. I don't think pomegranate really smells of anything to be honest but there is definitely a floral smell there. I really love the smell of this because it's lovely and feminine and really is fresh like they describe it to be. I found I only ever needed to apply this once after my shower or bath each morning and I was good to go for the rest of the day. I stayed dry all day long till the next day but I wouldn't say it lasts 48 hours like it claims. Obviously if you applied this and did a workout you'd still definitely be sweating but you'd expect that. I can't say I've noticed any improvement in my underarms but it doesn't dry my armpits out like some anti-persiprants have in the past. Sometimes they are so drying I itch like mad and get a rash but I have had no problems at all with this. It also contains 0% alcohol so if you've just shaved your underarms you don't get a nasty sting when you put this on.
I would definitely recommend this deodorant and will be purchasing it again. It keeps me dry all day long and smells divine :-)
Available in supremarkets, Boots & Superdrug.
In terms of deodorant I am much more of a roll-on kind of girl after hearing horror stories of cancer related to aerosol usage and my friend in college had a cyst in her armpit removed due to over usage of aerosol deodorants, but occasionally from time to time I have a little spray when needed! (Sorry to start this review on such a depressing tangent!) I tend to keep a spray in my box of necessities at work for those super sweaty days and living in there is a 150ml aerosol of Dove Go Fresh Fresh Cucumber & Green Tea Scent.
It is an anti-perspirant deodorant in a large white can with green writing from Dove. In terms of spray I will always use either Sure or Dove although I am completely loyal to Sure when it comes to roll-on. It costs about £2 in my local chemist (at the time I bought it!) And considering I hardly use it, and it has lasted so long I find it quite good value for money!
Using it is easy, holding the aerosol about 15cm from my underarm I give it a quick spray to help me freshen up a bit. It smells quite light and subtle which is perfect as it doesn't overwhelm any perfume I may be wearing. In terms of scent it has hard to pinpoint it as smelling like cucumber (as much as I love to eat cucumber I wouldn't particularly want to smell like one!) Although it does have a very greeny, fresh scent which is very summery and fragrant.
In terms of it's effectiveness it does keep me fresher for longer, reducing the onset of that sticky, clammy underarm feeling I get when I am hot and sweaty which is great! It offers "48 hour protection" but I honestly haven't gone 48 hours without washing and only relying on this deodorant to be able to judge! It does give long lasting protection, probably 6 hours max being the longest I have relied on this so it has been brilliant for me in this respect. It doesn't leave white marks on clothing as long as you don't spray and immediately put a top on! So I advise to spray and wait perhaps 30 seconds before dressing.
It comes in various other scents that perhaps when I finish this one I will venture out and try! The aerosol can is a long cylindrocal shape which is easy to hold and slimlined and at the 150ml sized can I have it is still a great size to carry around in my suitcase of a bag lol!
Overall, I do like this anti-perspirant deodorant and would recommend it. I don't use it too often myself due to my conscious worry of underarm sprays but for my occasional use it has been great :)
Like most people, a good anti perspirant deodorant is something that I use on a daily basis and I favour aerosol sprays over roll ons.
I have used this Dove Go Fresh spray deodorant a lot of times and tried quite a few of the different scents. I first chose to buy this deodorant as it was on offer which caught my eye, I liked the packaging as I thought the design looked simple and fresh, I thought the different scents sounded nice and I trust Dove as a brand as I have used various lotions, handwashes, showergels etc from them in the past.
Dove describes this deodorant as follows: "48 hour protection that allows your skin to breathe combined with the crisp, nature-inspired scent of grapefruit & lemongrass. So with an energising sensation for your underarms, you can now feel fresh and clean all day long! go fresh".
I have been satisfied by this product and liked it enough to buy it again on a number of occasions. I find that it generally performs very well and I feel fresh throughout the day on a normal day when I use it. It is effective enough for normal sweaty situations like being on packed public transport. However, if I am doing sport or out for a long time in high humidity then I do feel that the anti-perspirant part of this can struggle a bit at times and my underarms do not feel completely dry. On those occasions I often end up having a shower again and then respraying this, so I certainly don't think the claim of 48 hour protection would be true for me, although I have not tested it!
I have not suffered any irritation of the skin when using this and it has not left any white marks on my clothing.
The scents I have tried are grapefruit & lemongrass (which is the one pictured), cucumber & green tea, and waterlily & freshmint. The latter appears to no longer be available as it is not listed on the Dove website and not available to buy at Boots. It was a few months ago that I got mine, so maybe it has been discontinued. It is a shame if so, as it was a very nice, light and clean smelling scent - very neutral for those who do not like their deodorant too fruity smelling. None of the scents are overpowering and I don't find any of them too chemically - they don't really have that strong chemical deodorant smell which can sometimes catch in your throat when spraying. I have liked all of the ones I have tried but cucumber & green tea was probably the nicest for me, just personal preference. They leave me smelling clean and fresh but the scent is only a slight lingering one, not in anyone's face at all, and doesn't interfere with my perfume.
There is now also a pomegranate and lemon verbena one and I think this is new. I have not tried it although that scent combination does really appeal to me as it sounds very refreshing. I will probably end up trying it at some point.
The deodorant comes in 150 ml or 250 ml cans. The cans are standard shaped but don't go in too much in the middle, but rather they are more straight up and down. They are still fine to hold in the hand and spray with no difficulty.
The 250 ml costs £3.69 at Boots and the 150 ml costs £2.89 at Boots. This is not bad but you can sometimes find them cheaper elsewhere, for example I got 2 of the larger sized cans for £5 at Superdrug not too long ago. I am reluctant to pay the full price at the moment as I am trying to save money, so I have switched to Sure for the moment since I got some of theirs for £1 at Tesco. I would be happy to go back to the Dove if I see it reduced.
The marketing blurb
Dove Go Fresh in "Energising Grapefruit and Lemongrass" claims it gives protection that allows skin to breathe.
The packaging is in the usual Dove style of mainly white with bursts of colour. The lid is yellow, to denote the citrus smell of this product. The canister is tall and thin. I like to keep deodorant in my bag, and I think this can is slightly too big to be carrying around in the average handbag. It is however unoffensive enough to put into the bathroom and blend in.
Grapefruit and Lemongrass makes you think of citrus, right? Wrong. This deodorant smells of powder. Nice smelling powder, but definately not the smell described on the can.
However, it is a very feminine smelling deo and I would describe the smell as fresh and clean rather than overpowering. Another positive point is the fact that the smell won't overpower the smell of your favourite perfume.
I always put this on a couple of times a day. Its not that I don't necessarily trust it to last all day, its just that I've found from experience that deo's don't usually last that well into the day, especially if you lead a fairly active life.
Nice packaging and a fairly decent effectiveness, but not the smell advertised on the tin. If you want a deo which smells strongly of citrus scents, then this is not for you.
I bought this today in the cucumber and green tea scent from superdrug for £3.29. This price is quite high and usually I would go for something that has a 241 or similar offer on it but I was in a rush and needed deodorant desperately!
Overall I think the product was worth the money. I normally prefer to use roll on deodorants as I find that they last longer and they leave less marks however I found that the dove spray was equally as good as a roll-on on these accounts. I often expect spray deodorants to dry on my arm pits and leave a white flake that is both annoying and means the deodorant is ineffective, however this wasn't the case here. The spray went on well and didn't leave any flakes behind. I also put on a black dress shortly after applying the deodorant and there were no white marks left. I also really like the smell of this product. Often deodorants can smell slightly sharp however this was very fresh and not too strong. In terms of effectiveness I wore the deodorant before a night out in a club and then overnight and I was still smelling clean and fresh at 11 o clock the next morning which I consider to be a success! It would also be important to note that I am quite allergic to several body products however I did not have an averse reaction to this even though it isn't especially marketed for sensitive skin.
Dove is a well-respected brand with a reputation for being gentle on people's skin. I have tried many of their products over the years and have been impressed with most of them. You can expect to pay a bit more for Dove than you will pay for supermarket brands, but in my opinion, it is well worth that bit extra.
I have been using the Dove Go Fresh anti-perspirant deodorants for a couple of years, though I do change between brands sometimes, usually opting for Sure if they have a good offer on and Dove are still at full price. I most recently bought two 250ml Dove deodorants, as there was a two-for-one offer on at the supermarket. You can expect to pay between £1.50 and £2.10 each, without offers.
The Dove Go Fresh collection includes body washes and hand washes, as well as roll-on and spray deodorants. The three spray deodorants are fresh touch cucumber and green tea scent, cool waterlily and freshmint, and energising grapefruit and lemongrass. I haven't tried the waterlily one yet, as this one seems harder to find and I don't think it sounds as strong a scent as the other two and I do like a nice strong smell to my deodorants.
The Go Fresh anti-perspirant deodorants all claim to give you protection for 48 hours, though I would never dream of trying to last this long and spray usually twice a day, which probably isn't great for me, but I hate the idea of smelling bad at all. I keep one of these in my bag and the other one in the bedroom and use them more often, if I am getting hot and sweaty and if the temperature is high.
They also claim to be "protection that allows the skin to breathe" and while I'm not sure about this one way or the other, I like the fact that the spray is light, not sticky or heavy. You only need one short spray per armpit and get a good covering for this and a lovely whiff of powdery scent. The anti-perspirants are also alcohol free.
I like the design of the bottle too, as it is light, easy to hold and has a colour coding which is easy to understand - white with a green lid and picture for the cucumber and green tea, yellow for the grapefruit and lemongrass, blue for waterlily and freshmint. The lids are easy to get on and off and the spray comes out of the hole easily, without ever sticking.
The cucumber and green tea smells fresh and you can discern the cucumber, though the green tea is harder to pick out, though it is a lovely combination. The grapefruit and lemongrass version is also a really nice smell, fresh, light and citrusy. What is handy is that they are unisex, so my fiancé can use these too, if need be, but I also think these are great scents for women too.
Overall, I am very impressed with every aspect of this product range. You can certainly buy cheaper deodorants, but I think this Dove Go Fresh range is really worth the money. It performs very well, is reliable, and has very good packaging and lovely scents. What else is there to say? An excellent product!
I have been using roll on deodorants for some time now, and although I am more than pleased with the results I have with them, I do miss the initial burst of scent (and yes I know that body spray should be the only scent I need, but I do find after a long day at work a quick spritz of deodorant lasts me until I can get home for a shower!), so after seeing this spray deodorant on offer for £1.00 a bottle I decided to get some.
I have been using this brand for some time now (roll on of course!), and have had no problems with it, but this is a new scent to me and really fancied something that could potential smell of mint!
The spray claims to offer 48 hour protection, contains 0% alcohol, ¼ moisturising and protection that allows skin to breathe, big claims for a spray deodorant!
When I sprayed this on the scent that came out was not quite as minty as I was hoping, but still made me feel nice and fresh and left a lovely lingering scent.
There was no stinging sensation that you can sometimes get with spray deodorants, especially after you have shaved!
There was a fair amount of residue from the spray left, I did at one point leave a trail of white powder not only on the floor, but streaks down the sides of my top, so with spray I have started getting dressed first to try and alleviate this problem!
I have always been a woman who can get quite "warm", so find that I need to reapply deodorant a few times throughout the day, but certainly don't expect to start smelling as soon as I did with this spray (which in my case was 4 hours of normal daily activities, not quite the 48 hours I was promised!).
The can itself has only lasted me barely a week due to me having to keep reapplying it, the white powder is annoying but probably something I could have put up with if it helped keep me clean and fresh (which of course it didn't!) and finally after spraying this in the confines of my bedroom (which is actually a lot bigger than I have made it sound!), I found that it actually caught in the back of my throat, leading to a rather unpleasant coughing fit!), all in all I really can't recommend this particular product...well, unless you only sweat once a week and can hold your breath whilst applying it, or if you wear solely white.........
Thanks for reading x
Dove is a brand which believes in bringing out the beauty from within. It aims to smash the stereotype of what it means to look beautiful and wants to make every person who uses their products feel special, whatever their age or size. All their products contain moisturisers which leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, and they are constantly campaigning for our benefit and making products that leave us feeling fresh and pampered.
I have tried many of their products over the years but one product in particular which I have remained loyal towards is the Go Fresh Antiperspirant Deodorant Spray and in particular the Fresh Touch Green Tea and Cucumber variety.
What does the product do?
The product is both a deodorant and an anti-perspirant and it promises to give you 48 hours protection for definite. It claims to leave you feeling fresh all day using natural ingredients and completely free from any odour or sweating. Not only this, but as a quarter of the product is made using moisturisers, it promises to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and soothed.
How do you use the product?
The product is used in the same way as any other deodorant. After removing the cap, you hold the bottle 15cm away from the body and push down on the top. A short burst should be enough in order to achieve the desired effect.
Packaging and Price
The bottle is very attractive and is white in colour with a frosty green lid which you pull off in order to access the product. On the front is a band that tells us that the product allows the skin to breath and that it contains 0% alcohol. It also has a picture of a cucumber and a tea leaf. On the back there are the directions of use, some more information and some warnings.
The product comes in three sizes. The 150ml bottle will cost you around £2 or you may prefer to choose the larger 250ml bottle for £3. Also available is a mini travel sized bottle which costs around £1 and I have found this size to be surprisingly long lasting. The product is widely available and can be bought from department stores, pharmacies, supermarkets and a variety of online websites. I have seen the product on offer plenty of times so keep your eyes open in order to get a good deal.
Other Available Products
If you find that you like the aroma of this product, then you might also like to try the Fresh Touch Roll On Antiperspirant, Body Wash or the Shampoo and Conditioner. If it's the Deodorant Antiperspirant that you particularly like, then also available as part of the Go Fresh Collection is a Grapefruit and Lemongrass product which promises to leave you energised and also a cooling Water Lily and Mint variety.
The smell of this deodorant is incredibly fresh and clean. Every time that I spray the product, someone comments on how nice it smells. It is very refreshing and the scent lingers on the skin for quite a few hours. The product not only makes me smell nice but it prevents any other horrible aromas from appearing and makes me feel lovely and clean all day. Some deodorants have a horrible smell in the first place but I don't think anyone could dislike this fragrance as it very inoffensive and gentle.
The top of the bottle is easy to press and a steady yet powerful stream of product is released. Even if I accidently spray the product to close to my skin, it hasn't resulted in any white powdery marks being left on my skin or marking my clothes.
Rather strangely, the product does produce a lot of mist in the air around you when you use it and the room can get cloudy if you go over board with the application. Randomly, the deodorant has also set off my fire alarm a few times although I'm not sure what that is all about! The mist which it produces can also catch in your throat and make you cough so make sure you use the product in a well ventilated area.
The product prevents me from sweating considerably and it is much better for doing so than other antiperspirants in its price range. Dove's claims that the product works for 48 hours might be correct but I've never worn the product for that amount of time without washing at some point but its effects do seem to remain until I shower.
The products results are long lasting and although it doesn't stop me completely, this is enough to leave me satisfied with the product. It completely keeps odour away, even when I am hot and bothered. The moisturising cream within the deodorant has a beneficial effect on my skin and it makes it instantly soft, smooth and silky which I was quite surprised about.
It is a gentle deodorant and it doesn't sting or irritate my skin. I have used it immediately after shaving without any pain or adverse effects. It has never caused any itching or discomfort, even with prolonged usage. The inclusion of aluminium is obviously not the best ingredients to be used on your skin but this is the substance that prevents the sweating and it is hard to find an antiperspirant without this addition.
All in all, this is an antiperspirant deodorant which smells fresh and clean, and prevents any horrible odours from being produced by the body. It stems sweating considerably and leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturised. This is definitely the best product of this type that I have tried within this price range.
Fresh touch cucumber and green tea is the new scent from Dove deodorant. It is an anti-perspirant, I don't think many people know the difference so here it is:
Antiperspirants contain fragrance, but they also contain chemical compounds that block the pores to stop the discharge of perspiration. No sweat, no odor.
Deodorant allows the release of perspiration, but prevents odor by combating it with antiseptic agents, which kill odor-causing bacteria.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
The new scent from Dove is gorgeous, I have a think about the smell of cucumber anyway, I think it is a very fresh and clean smell which is exactly what you want from a product such as this. When you use the spray I think it makes your skin feel softer and I always see the Dove brand as being kind and gentle to your skin! The packaging is very simplistic and has a great shape making it easy to hold. The part you press down is a lime green rubber, again making it easy to use. They claim that the spray has 48 hour protection and I have no complaints with that! I bought the spray on offer at boots as it was 2 for £2..BARGAIN. I always like to get two at a time so I have a back up!
I highly reccomend the spray and I will be buying again!!
I bought this on offer in Asda a few months back. It cost a £1 for 150ml and seemed like a good buy. Dove Go Fresh comes in several different varieties; grapefruit, waterlilly and freshmint and green tea and cucumber. I tried the waterlilly and freshmint. Which came in a white aerosol can with a blue lid and a picture of a leaf and a waterlilly on the front.
Dove states on all of their 'Go Fresh' products that the scents are inspired by nature. The anti perspirant contains Dove's 1/4 moisturising cream to protect and moisturise your skin. It is also claimed that this spray gives 48 hour protection as well as keeping you clean and fresh all day long.
To use this spray you simply remove the cap and spray about 15cm from your underarms. The scent of this spray is really nice, it is very floral but in a fresh way. I can't say I noticed the smell of mint at all. What I didn't like about this spray compared to Sure or Garnier is the design of the can. I always lose the cap and then it ends up accidently spraying in my handbag!
I was really disappointed with this anti perspirant, even though it smelt really nice, I noticed I was feeling really sweaty after only applying it a few hours before. Come the end of the day I had the dreaded wet patches. I have never encountered this problem using Sure, it definately wouldn't last the whole 48 hours. I sit at a desk all day in an air conditioned office so I was hardly running a marathon! The only plus point was that I could smell it all day long and after a discreet sniff of my underarms I didn't notice any sweaty smell. This did however stain my clothing, my white t shirt looked yellowy and I noticed white marks on my darker clothes.
I would not recommend this! It doesn't do the job the only bonus is soft underarms and a nice smell! I would much rather pay the extra for Sure and not feel self consious all day long!
I was out of deodorant so I visited Boots to pick some up. Over there I saw the 250 ml bottle of the Dove mint and waterlily deodorant on sale around the £2 mark. I picked it up because a) Dove is a good brand that generally makes really high-quality products that I like, b) I have used products from the Go Fresh range before and liked them, and c) it was on offer. Dove has 2 other deodorants in the Go Fresh range, but my review will be based on the mint and waterlily deodorant as this is the one I have used.
Packaging and Instructions.
This deodrant comes in a long white bottle with a light blue plastic cap. I own the 250 ml bottle so it is quite long and a little heavy when you pick it up but you can comfortably handle it. There is a picture of a water lily on the front of the bottle. All you have to do to use this deodorant is pull the cap off, shake the can, hold it 15 cm away from your underarm and spray.
When you first spray the deodorant, you will be able to smell a light, floral scent. It is quite pleasant and not at all overpowering, even in a room that isn't well-ventilated. There will be a cloud of deodorant when you first spray it, but this soon vanishes. This is an anti-perspirant deodorant which promises 48 hour protection. I cannot comment on this as I shower every day so I will only be discussing its performance during a 24 hour period. The deodorant feels dry as soon as you spray it on so you don't have to wait around for ages waiting for the damp feeling in your underarm to disappear. It is very gentle on your skin and does not sting shaved underarms at all. This is probably because the deodorant contains 0% alcohol and 1/4 Dove moisturising cream. This deodorant usually leaves my underarms fresh and dry for a good 24 hours (after which I shower) even when I walk fast (unfortunately, that's the most physical activity I undertake). However, there are those rare days when I do feel myself perspiring, and my underarms start to get damp. I'm not sure why this is, as on these occasions I haven't even been doing any activities that should make me sweat. Most days the deodorant works brilliantly though. The 250 ml bottle lasted for 3 months with daily usage and I was quite satisfied with this.
Price and Availability
This product can be bought in supermarkets, pharmacies and most places where you can buy deodorant. At Boots, the 250 ml bottle retails for £3.32 and the 150 ml bottle retails for £2.15 . However, I was able to buy the 250 ml bottle around the £2 mark as I have already mentioned, and I thought this was pretty decent value for money.
Do I recommend this?
Yes, I do. The deodorant works really well most of the time, and leaves my underarms feeling fresh and dry. Also, the scent is pleasant and subtle, so it doesn't interfere with the scent of my perfume. Finally, I have seen this on offer quite often so if you find it on offer, it's actually cheap. This Dove deodorant has outperformed most other brands that I have used, and I will be sticking to Dove deodorants from now on.
