In terms of deodorant I am much more of a roll-on kind of girl after being a bit wary of sprays when my friend in college had a cyst in her armpit removed due to over usage of aerosol deodorants. However, I do sometimes purchase the odd spray so when trawling through my usual 99p store I spotted this 150ml aerosol of Dove Go Fresh Sensitive Anti-perspirant Deodorant - 2 for 99p it was a bargain I couldn't resist.
It is an anti-perspirant deodorant in a large white can with green writing and a green lid from Dove. Using it is easy, holding the aerosol about 15cm from my underarm I give it a quick spray to help me freshen up a bit. It smells quite light and subtle which is perfect as it doesn't overwhelm any perfume I may be wearing. In terms of scent it is really disappointing. It has absolutely no smell and I may aswell be blowing cold air under my armpits for all the good it does! I mean I know it is "sensitive" but I didn't expect that to mean absolutely no scent/smell/fragrance at all.
In terms of it's effectiveness it does somehow seem to aid in reducing the onset of that sticky, clammy underarm feeling I get when I am hot and sweaty but it is in no way an anti-perspirant to prevent me from sweating. All it actually seems to do is slow down the process and I would in no way recommend this for any 48 hour protection! I used it the other day at work at around lunch time and it did not help me feel as though it was doing anything! Granted I didn't smell like an awful sweaty beast due to using Sure roll on in the morning but it did not add any additional protection and was more like spraying a neutral product on myself which prevented me looking like a sweaty pig for the remainder of the afternoon but had no nice scent or zest to neutralise the situation!
On the plus side it doesn't leave white marks on clothing as long as you don't spray and immediately put a top on! So I advise to spray and wait perhaps 30 seconds before dressing.
It comes in various other scents that perhaps when I finish this one I will venture out and try! Overall, I suppose this was an ok buy at about 50p a pop for a rather large canister but I can see why the shelves were so stocked of these in the 99p store. I do like this anti-perspirant deodorant but wouldn't recommend it. I still don't use it too often myself due to my conscious worry of underarm sprays but its ok for occasional use until it finishes!
Dove sensitive Deodrant
Now that summer is officially here (it hasn't rained in London for 2 months!) deodorant is a huge must. There is nothing more horrible or confidence crushing than sweating. For me having a good deodorant is an essential start to everyday. Exfoliation, moisturisation and deodorant are essential every morning.
I don't as of yet have brand loyalty when it comes to deodorants because I haven't found a single deodorant that works for me 100%. I do however prefer to use the branded deodorants rather than shop brands and the cheaper varieties. This is because I have found the cheaper ones to contain a lot more chemicals and they are also generally much less effective. I will buy deodorants only when on offer because there is always some brand on offer when I go to the supermarket so I don't see why I should pay full price.
I was in boots the other day and I saw that the Dove deodorant's were £1 for 150ml can. I have tried some of the Dove deodorants in the past with variable results. As I am prone to getting a rash from deodorants I decided to try the Dove sensitive brand. I had no experience of using this variety before and I was hoping that it would give me protection as well as prevent the appearance of a rash after a week.
The Dove deodorant range has many different types and the sensitive one is designed for those with oversensitive skin. It comes in a spray form in a slim(ish) white can with a light green lid. The spray nozzle is also green and requires a bit of force to release the spray. I like the design of the can because it is really easy to hold and grip and it is small enough to fit in by bag.
I have used the deodorant on my underarms and my back for the past 2 months. For the first 2 weeks I didn't have any problems but after a fortnight I started to get a rash about 1hour after I had sprayed the deodorant. The deodorant also failed to prevent perspiration. I found that I was not protected very well at all from perspiration as my shirt got wet and as the deodorant is fragrance free there was no odour protection. I have found with other deodorants that do not stop perspiration do however cover up the odour when I do perspire. As this deodorant didn't have a fragrance I was left with no protection. I didn't smell like BO though, at least I couldn't smell anything. I was however very anxious and not at all confident as the deodorant had left with unsightly sweat patches.
I am glad that I tried this product out as I often experiment a lot in order to find a better product. Alas this time I ended up with a dude. I wouldn't recommended this product to anyone who perspires a normal to excessive amount. If you are one of those people that doesn't perspire a lot and does not have sensitive skin then this may possible work for you in the winter. But I cannot really advise on that. I would say that I perspire about a normal amount and now a little more with the increase in temperature and this didn't work for me at all.
