I have tried many different deodorants over the years promising all kinds of different things. I have found many of them lacking in different areas, but one brand that never disappoints is Dove. I have gradually learned to turn my back on the advertised special offers by other brands because when you've tried the best, why bother with the rest? I really like the Go Fresh Range by Dove but another of my favourites is Silk Dry. I will be reviewing the Silk Dry spray, although the silk dry roll on is just as good. What does the product do? Silk Dry is an Anti-perspirant Deodorant which means that it prevents sweating as well as odour. The product promises to give you 24 hours protection although you'd have to go a full 24 hours without washing in order to test those claims! The quarter of the product has been created moisturisers and therefore it promises to soften the skin, leaving it smooth, soothed and silky. How do you use the product? The Anti-Perspirant Deodorant is to be used in much the same way as any similar product. According to the instructions on the bottle, you are to remove the lid, hold the can around 15cm away from your body and then push down on the top of the bottle to release the product. Packaging and Price The bottle is fairly plain and it is cream in colour. It has a frosty, pearlescent beige lid which needs to be removed in order to access the product. The front of the bottle tells you that the product will leave you with soft and smooth underarms and it also tells you that it contains 0% alcohol. On the back of the bottle, there are the directions of use, some more information and some warnings. The product is available in three different sizes. You can purchase a 150ml bottle for around £2 or you can purchase a slightly larger 250ml bottle for £3. For travelling or simply to pop in your handbag, a mini travel sized bottle can be purchased and this will cost you around £1. Even though this sized bottle looks very dinky, I have found this size to be surprisingly long lasting. This product is widely available and it can be bought from many department stores, pharmacies, supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites. The product is often on offer so keep your eyes open in order to get a good deal. I always stock up whenever I see a reduced price. Extra Thoughts The aroma of this deodorant is really fresh and clean. It smells like bed sheets or clothes that have just been washed so although it doesn't have a 'fragrance' as such, it just smells very clean. It is quite a relaxing aroma and the scent lingers on my skin for quite a few hours. The best thing about this product is that not only does it have a nice smell but it also prevents any other horrible aromas from breaking through and appearing. It really does make me feel lovely and clean all day long. A problem with some deodorants that I've found is that they have a horrible smell in the first place so you are fighting a losing battle. However I don't think anyone could dislike this fragrance as it very inoffensive and gentle. The product is easy to use and the dispenser is easy to push with one hand. The stream is released steadily but powerfully and it is easy to control. Even when I accidently spray the product too close to my armpit, it still hasn't resulted in any white marks being left on my skin and it doesn't mark my clothes. As with the Go Fresh deodorant, this product also seems to full the room with a cloudy mist and if you spray too much, you'll start coughing. This product has even managed to set off my fire alarm when I've got spray happy! I'm not sure why this happens but I do find that I need to open the window after use. The product does a really good job of preventing me from sweating and it is a lot better for doing this than lots of other antiperspirants in a similar price range. Dove's promise that this product works for 24 hours might be correct but I've never worn the product for that amount of time without having a wash but its effects do keep working until I shower. The results are long lasting. It doesn't stop me sweating completely but it is still enough to leave me satisfied with the product and it is still much better than others I've tried. It does completely keeps any odour away and does so even when I am hot and bothered. The moisturising cream within the deodorant really works and it makes the skin feel silky and smooth as promised. I must be honest, my armpits have never been an area that I worry about feeling silky. I buy the product for its other benefits but it is a nice additional benefit and it does make my skin soft, smooth and silky. The product is gentle on my skin and it doesn't sting or irritate me, even when I have used it immediately after shaving I don't get pain, stinging or adverse effects. It has never caused me to feel itchy or to feel uncomfortable, even with prolonged usage. Unfortunately it does contain Aluminium, which is not the best thing for your skin but it's hard to find a product of this type that works without that ingredient. All in all, this Anti-Perspirant Deodorant smells fresh and clean from the start and keep any bad odours from appearing. It stops sweating considerably and leaves your armpits feeling soft and moisturised. You can't go far wrong with a Dove Anti-Perspirant Deodorant.
As with most people, a deodorant is an essential item in my toiletries bag as it stops bad smells and helps keep me fresh! I'm always looking for new deodorants to try and picked up this Dove deodorant on a shopping trip. ***The Brand*** Dove is a low-to-mid range of bath, shower and moisturising products, more expensive than store brands and budget buys but definitely cheaper than Lush, Soap and Glory and other premium brands. Dove products are marketed as being gentle, suitable for sensitive skin, and moisturising and are distinguished by the Dove logo and simple white packaging which is often combined with blue or other colours. ***The Deodorant*** Dove deodorant is available in both aerosol and roll-on form. The packaging is usually white, but the body of the packaging, or usually the lid, is a different colour depending on the type. Kinds available include the 'Go Fresh' range consisting of Grapefruit, Water Lily and Cucumber, the Minimising range comprising Nature Fresh and Wild Rose, Invisible Dry, Pro Age and the deodorant which I have - Silk Dry. ***Price and Availability*** The deodorant normally costs just over £2 but is often on special offer. It is widely available at Boots, Superdrug, discount stores and supermarkets. ***Packaging*** The deodorant is attractively packaged in a practical roll-on with the lid at the bottom - this way you don't have to worry about the roll-on drying out. The packaging is sleek, simple and attractive and it's easy to hold. My Silk Dry roll-on has a light brown lid. ***Claims*** It is claimed that the Dove Silk Dry Roll-On combines pure silk extracts with a beautiful fragrance to leave your underarms feeling soft and fresh all day long. ***My Experience*** I've been using the deodorant for a while now. When I first apply it I can smell a refreshing scent - it's neither fruity nor floral, I'm not really sure what it is but it's quite nice. The scent isn't overpowering but if I stick my nose close to my armpits (which isn't something I do often - just for the purposes of reviewing!) I can still detect it. My underarms, which can sometimes be a bit dry, have felt soft and moisturised and the skin certainly hasn't been irritated, which suggests that the moisturising effect of the product is a good one. My underarms do feel silky-soft which means the product's name is appropriate! Another plus is that the deodorant does not leave white marks, which to be fair is common to many roll-ons and is one reason I prefer roll-ons to aerosols (another is that roll-ons are smaller and more compact). The deodorant sometimes takes a couple of minutes to dry, but this is something that is common to all roll-ons and it doesn't particularly bother me as I usually apply makeup before getting dressed anyway. The deodorant performs effectively in most situations and I am kept feeling fresh all day when I go to work or come home. Sometimes if I've been out shopping during my lunch hour I get a bit hot and my underarms feel slightly damp, but I've never noticed any smell. I usually reapply again if I'm going to the gym, but not if I'm just staying at home, in which case the deodorant lasts all day no problem. Using it every day, sometimes more than once, the deodorant lasts me a couple of months which I think is good value. Overall, I think this is an effective deodorant which lives up to its claims and I would buy it again - I would also like to try some others in the range.
I Seen this roll on for just £1 reduced in Tesco so although I usually prefer spray deodorants I thought I would give this a go as I know dove is a well trusted brand. It was a 50ml bottle and came in a lid down bottle in colours white and gold.On the front it tells me it is a anti- perspirant and anti- transparant deodorant. It claims 24 hour protection which for me is very important as having 3 young children means I am constantly on the go. The deodorant itself has a very sweet flowery smell and it is also very strong which to me gives me some reassurance it will last the 24 hours that it claims to. I put it on and did find it took a little while until it felt dry but I was used to this as this is why I do not usually use roll on's. It only took 1 roll on each under arm for them to be covered. The test came midday after id been running around with the deodorant on for 6 hours my body would have been working hard so if it was going to show any sign of weakness it would be then. After having a brief smell I could not believe it it was still working well and there was still a strong smell of sophisticated flowers. 6 hours was a good test for me but this roll on claimed 24 hours so I decided to wait and see what would happen the next morning. 6 am Thursday morning 24 hours after I had first put the deodorant on was the moment of truth I had a little smell of my under arm and although there was no real smell of the deodorant there was not a smell of anything else. It had lived up to it's claim and kept me neutral for a full 24 hours. Although I will not use this as my main deodorant as personally I prefer sprays to roll on's I always have a bottle of this in my drawer just in case I fancy a change. I would recommend this as it is a good deodorant that keeps you fresh but you need to like roll on deodorants to start with as it is not that good to convert you from sprays I still had to flap around like a chicken for it to dry. It normally retails between £2-£3.
This deodrant is avaliable in roll on or spray and for this review I shall be writing it on the spray deodrant. I bought it in Tescos where it was on offer for £1, though is sold in the likes of Boots, Superdrug and other big Supermarkets. It comes in a 250ml can with a lid over the spray canister. The deodrant is described as silk dry anti-perspirant deodrant with 0% alcohol. The deodrant itself smells very fresh and slightly musky, unlike the more floraly body sprays. It does also smell slightly summery which makes the deodrant smell slightly lighter and not so heavy. Unfortuantley I did find that it left some small white marks when first applied which did have to be rubbed off. After wearing this I did find that my underarms did feel more moisturised and smooth, which it did say on the bottle. I was happy to find that my underarms smelt grey all day, even if I did sweat. I was happy with this as some of the cheaper makes don't always do this, but as Dove is a well trusted brand I feel that this is why it has succeeded here. Despite it being dove I was a little disappointed that it did leave white marks to begin with, other than that it is a lovely deodrant!
It was whilst I was in my local (independent) pharmacy waiting for a prescription to be made up that I noticed several anti-perspirant deodorants were available to buy for what seemed to be a fairly reasonable price. Available in either a roll-on or a spray aerosol, I decided to try the "Dove Silk Dry" aerosol spray as I have come to trust the Dove brand in general over the past few years or so. Packaged in a rather slick-looking white canister with a magnolia-coloured design on the front of the can, and a matching plastic lid in the same magnolia colour, I was instantly attracted to the product given the little design to the front of the can that quite clearly stated "24h" alongside the proud admission "0% alcohol". Both of these factors appealed to me as I find anti-perspirant deodorants that DO contain alcohol can sting when applied to the delicate underarm area, and as I suffer from very sensitive skin - on this area among others - I do tend to look for deodorants that don't contain any alcohol to help alleviate this problem. That, coupled with the need for a good-quality anti-perspirant to stop any 'wetness' developing in my underarm area made this spray seem like a good, all-round contender for my own personal needs. I paid around £1.70 for the 250ml canister of the deodorant, and this lasted me for around a month which I do find is on a par with most other aerosol spray deodorants that I use regularly. I think that in terms of value for money and being economical, again the Dove spray is on a par with most other brands in my opinion. The design of the nozzle on the canister is designed sufficiently enough to allow a fine 'mist' of spray be applied to the required area. I find that some alternative brands - in particular those brands at the cheaper end of the market - tend to 'gush' out a huge amount of sticky spray, but this didn't prove to be a problem with the Dove Silk Dry spray. The anti-perspirant, once applied to my skin seemed to dry instantaneously, which is of course preferred when using an aerosol deodorant. I found that the deodorant didn't feel sticky or clammy when applied to my skin and instead had a 'lighter' feel to it. I also found that in terms of white marks coming off on my clothing, the Dove Silk Dry certainly wasn't the worst product I have ever used, but neither did it eliminate this problem completely. I think to be fair there were perhaps only two or three occasions where I noticed a white mark on my top or t-shirt, but this is extremely annoying, nevertheless, particularly when other rival brands seem to have nailed this problem once and for all! The overall scent of the Dove Silk Dry aerosol is one that I found to be very pleasant, which makes a change for me! I tend to find products like this one are far too overpowering for my own tastes, but I found that the Dove spray was much more subtle than other brands that I use regularly. The scent is very feminine, although I don't find it to be overly flowery or that of a more heavily perfumed product. Instead, the fragrance is quite under-stated and has a crisp and 'clean' edge to it, which helps when we are talking about a product designed to eliminate 'staleness' and promote freshness, methinks! I find that lots of body sprays and deodorants are reminiscent of an air-freshener type product rather than a body-freshener type product, but this truly isn't the case when considering the Dove Silk Dry spray. I find that the scent is modern, crisp and even though there is a definite feminine edge to the scent, the overall impression I get is one of clean cotton or freshly laundered linen. In terms of keeping me dry, I would say that this deodorant is pretty much on a par with other brands that I use on a regular basis. I cannot really confirm 100% either way if the "24hour" claims on this product are founded, as I personally prefer to apply deodorant twice a day at least. I would tend to disagree with these claims though, as I felt a slight 'stickiness' in my underarm area later in the day, after applying the deodorant in the morning. To be fair this didn't happen every single day, but when other factors such as the weather/temperature are brought into the equation, I do feel that the Dove Silk Dry deodorant could have performed a little better, and I was a bit disappointed that it didn't prevent any underarm wetness altogether if I am being honest. Overall though, I was quite happy that this product performed as well as other brands that I buy on a regular basis, except the Dove Silk anti-perspirant smelled much, much nicer and cost a little less. For these reasons I would probably buy it again, although if I was travelling to a hot climate or needed to be guaranteed to be completely 100% dry in my underarm area, I would probably apply a stronger product, and would overlook this brand. For this reason, I will be deducting a star from my Dooyoo scoring. Back to the plus points for the time being and I think it is important to point out that in terms of my sensitive skin and eczema, I found that the Dove Silk Dry caused no excess itchiness or sensitivity. I also found that these skin problems were not aggravated by the use of this product whatsoever, so I would tend to recommend it for those of you who are prone to similar symptoms. The Dove Silk Dry is also available in a roll-on form, and both this and the aerosol anti-perspirant are widely available from all good drugstores and pharmacies, as well as supermarkets such as Tesco. Alternatively, you can buy it online from www.boots.com where it will cost you £3.25 for the spray, although this seems a bit over-priced to me, and I would suggest shopping around! I would give this anti-perspirant spray four dooyoo stars out of five, because I think for the most part it was a very pleasant product to use and I absolutely adored the lovely fragrance. I also think it performed well in terms of my sensitive skin and being pleasant to wear. The only thing that let it down for me was the lack of staying-power in terms of protecting against perspiration.
I started using this roll on this month and it has worked wonders. I bought this at Tesco for under £2. I've been using it every day and still have plenty left in the container. I have also found that there is no staining on clothes with this roll-on and the liquid comes out in one smooth stroke - so no wastage and constant rolloing around to get the desired amount. It is much better at preventing perspiration than it's counterpart deodorant spray. I would say it lasts for a good 6 hours more (in smell and prevention) than the spray. It smells quite florally - not at all unpleasant. This smell stays on you for the whole day and never once had I smelt anything "bad" seeping through. It doesn't dry out the skin, which I find can happen with the spray (resulting in itchy pits) and the skin on my arm pits feel smooth and soft.
I used to only ever use aerosol deodorants as I found roll-ons too wet but when I went travelling I wanted something smaller that wouldn't take up much room in my backpack as well as something that would last a lot longer. I stumbled upon the large selection of Dove deodorants and decided to purchase one of these are they were reduced to only £1 and I know Dove is a good brand. I wouldn't have considered getting a cheaper brand or a shop's own brand as I tend to sweat under the arms sometimes so I needed something with a good reputation that would keep me nice and dry. I chose the Silk Dry option as it looked like it would have a plainish smell and I didn't want a lemony or minty smelling one. The deodorant comes in a small 50ml tube but it is a slightly different shape to that shown in the picture above. It is an upside down deodorant where the lid is at the bottom and the container curves into a rounded point at the top. The container is white and the Silk Dry range has a pale bronzy/peachy colour lid which makes it look calm and feminine and a little sophisticated. To open the lid you simply twist it off. The good thing about the deodorant being upside down with the lid at the bottom is that it can stand up like this and so the roll-on part is always wet and you never have to end up shaking it really hard to bring the liquid to the bottom of the bottle. This is an anti-perspirant, anti-transparent deodorant with 24 hours lasting protection. I put it on first thing in the morning when I get up and I don't usually need to use it again all day, except maybe sometimes when I've done some exercise or after I've had a shower. When you open the deodorant it has a very pleasant sweet and feminine flowery smell and it makes your underarms smell very nice. When rolling the deodorant on, you don't need to use too much as the roll-on stick will already be very wet and too much can cause white marks which will then take a while to dry. A few strokes up and down will suffice which doesn't leave you with any white marks and after only several seconds my underarms are dry and I can get dressed. If I find myself sweating during the day for whatever reasons, a quick roll of this will stop my sweating and leave me with a pleasant smell, making me feel a lot more confident. This Dove deodorant can be picked up for between £1.50 and £2 depending on where you buy it from, but I often find it in £1 deals. It's a great, inexpensive deodorant that lasts a long time, has a pleasant sweet smell and effectively protects against sweating and body odour.
Last Christmas I received one of the big Dove gift sets and, as Dove is amongst my favourites in the bathroom, I was thrilled! Part of the said gift set was an aerosol deodorant - Silk Dry. When it comes to deodorant I usually go for Dove but would always choose the roll on variety for preference but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth! The full name of this one is Dove Deodorant Silk Dry and the writing on the front of the can says 'with silk extracts anti perspirant % alcohol'. As you probably know the various varieties of Dove deodorants come with different coloured lids and this one is the one with the beige lid. The miniature version that I have is a traditional aerosol with a pull off plastic lid and a standard spray button, so nothing fancy here. I don't know if the full sized version looks the same (only bigger of course) but the contents will be the same so I thought I'd tell you what I think of it. As with all Dove products this deodorant is one quarter moisturising cream although I have to admit I don't really think about moisturising my armpits! The fragrance of this one is lovely. I notoriously find that fragrances are very difficult to describe but this one is light and slightly flowery without being too sweet and sickly. One thing I did notice is that the spray created is quite mild, for want of a better word. On the rare occasions that I use an aerosol deodorant I sometimes find that, when I spray it, the resulting effect in the air really catches the back of my throat and makes me cough. Not so with this one so that's a big advantage for me. The deodorising and antiperspirant effect lasts all day even when I get hot. I have been working as a merchandiser so I have been constantly on the go during 5 to 6 hour shifts and I never had any problems with perspiration or BO. The other advantage of this deodorant is that the plastic caps can be recycled with your plastics and the aerosol can be recycled in the fortnightly can collection so no landfill! I have taken a look on the Boots website and a 250ml aerosol currently costs £2.89 and they are on offer at 2 for £4. In conclusion I am very impressed with this deodorant - it works well, it isn't expensive and it smells lovely! Although when I buy this one myself I will get the roll on version but that's just personal preference.
I am a big fan of this Silk Dry Anti Perspirant Deodorant from Dove. I really like the scent that I find lasts all day. I do not find that my skin stays particularly dry though. This anti perspirant seems to coat the skin in some way. However I do not smell, despite the moist sensation so it must be doing its job. Also, like all Dove products, this really moisturises the skin. My underarms feel as smooth as my face after I have used the Silk Dry anti perspirant. It does not contain alcohol, which must help in this regard. The plastic 'rollerball' top works really well. Although I left one of these deodorants in my swimming bag and didn't use it for several months, it still glided easily on the skin and did not drag, as some can do if you do not use them frequently. I would highly recommend this product. It smells good, it makes you smell good and it really lasts. Ten out of ten from me!
I am not a lover of roll-on deodorants and it has been many years since I last used one. I have always preferred the aerosol ones. However, my usual brand 'Natrel' has recently changed into a 'new better fragrance' variety which is in a smaller can and isn't as efficient, so I was looking for a different deodorant that I could rely on. The price of aerosol deodorants has really rocketed and I didn't want to pay over £2 for a can of something I might not like. I am familiar with Dove and generally like their products so I thought I would try this. The plastic bottle with the 'rollerball' top is made of white recyclable plastic and has a light peachy coloured top. It contains 50mls of anti-perspirant, anti-transpirant and deodorant that is designed to last for 12 hours. It contains no alcohol so doesn't dry up as quickly on the top of the roller ball. It contains aluminium which is normal for an anti-perspirant, glycerin and a whole host of ingredients that it would take a qualified chemist to interpret. If you really want to read these, these the back of the bottle. You had better have some strong reading glasses, or a magnifying glass handy, though, because the price is very small on a shiny background. There is a symbol on the label which invites you to, 'Open here'. This, if you could open it, reveals lots more blurb about the product. Unfortunately I couldn't persuade the top layer to peel of to reveal the print below. (I could see it all through the top layer but not read it, of course). I only wanted to open this for the purposes of this review bit I couldn't. This product has a light fragrance and does give protection all day. I haven't left it on for 24 hours because I don't fancy doing that! (You know what I mean...you need to wash it off and start again.) The only problem I had with this is that it is very wet. It takes a while to dry on the skin. This can be a nuisance if you are in a hurry but apart from that it is a pleasantly fragranced, efficient product.
Being a fan of Dove by Unilever of course I own a couple of deodorants in the range. I don't use them every day and actually forgot I had this one stuffed in a drawer (shame on me lol) so I dug it out the other day and have been using it since! I never buy roll ons. I don't like the wet lotion applied under my arms and me having to flap like a chicken so that no lotion is applied to my clothes or any white marks and this is why I've been using Right Guard spray for a good while now cos I trust it implicitly! However this is different... read on lol The Roll On... Is a white plastic recyclable easy to hold 50 bottle type thing with a peachy coloured twist on/off lid and underneath a fairly large clear plastic roller ball is situated. On the front of my 'bottle' I'm told in blue writing it is indeed Dove that it's 'silk dry antiperspirant, 24hr protection and contains no alcohol. On the back I'm given a list of ingredients. Verdict.... Well the first thing that ever attracted me to this little roll is the smell. It's sweet and feminine and not at all harsh in the old smell department. To me I always think I smell a hint of peach with flowers and to me its quite unusual and hard to describe. The best thing I can say about it is, is that it's quite sophisticated in fragrance and makes a change from fruity ones or stuff that smells of gardens! I hate all that and prefer something not too heavily fragranced and also with any fragrance I use I like to be one of the select few that wear it, including deodorants! When you use this alot of the deodorant comes off the roller ball in the form of wetness. Where this wins out is that although its a fair amount of product you don't have to keep rubbing under your arms this takes one swipe and your away! Yes it does feel wet but it does dry in a matter of seconds and if your impatient (like me) your fine to put your clothes on anyway it doesn't create sticky looking pit mark on your clothes or stain white as it contains no alcohol and that's what creates the white marks as far as I'm aware. The nice thing about this is that its so mild and gentle you can apply straight after shaving and it doesn't make you scream but just as importantly it doesn't get into where you've shaved and get inflamed. Although it's that mild it really does work. I'm not an overly sweaty person don't get me wrong but not only do I find this keeps me smelling clean and fresh all day long (and beyond) the delicate fresh smell hangs around too. This is an all round good quality product that really does make under your arms feel silky smooth to the touch (providing no hair is there, it is not a miracle worker after all so don't think your getting out of hair removal just yet ladies lol) I bought mine for 99p in Boots but can be found all over the place!
