Dove Silk Dry Deodorant Aerosol
Advantages: None really
Disadvantages: Doesn't give good protection at all
I am a huge fan of the Dove range of products and very often use their deodorants. I am a fan of aerosol deodorants rather than roll-ons so I tend to stick to these. I have tried most of the range but I had never tried their Silk Dry one so I opted for this one last time I was due to purchase some.
I have to say this didn't do anything for me at all, which is very surprising considering how much I rate the Dove range of products.
It didn't have any particular scent which was a little disappointing but the main disappointment to me was how long it lasted. I applied the deodorant first thing in the morning as usual, and by dinner time I felt the need to re-apply which is really unusual for Dove as I can normally go all day without feeling the need to re-apply as they normally give excellent protection but this is definitely the 'black sheep' of the range and doesn't do the range justice at all.
As we are in the middle of winter, I can't even use the hot weather as an excuse. As said, by lunchtime I felt rather sweaty and clammy which made me feel rather self-consious - something which I have never felt with other products in this range before.
I am not really sure what the concept is behind this deodorant but I am presuming by the name 'silk dry' that the idea is that it dries quickly and leaves a silky smooth finish on your underarms. Maybe its just me, but I would rather have a deodorant that concentrates on giving me full protection all day than gave me smooth underarms as its not like people spend that much time looking at my underarms anyway!
Should you wish to purchse this product, it is available in roll-on or aerosol form, with the roll-on retailing at around £1.00 (depending on where you purchase it from), and the aerosol costing around £2.20, which is about average for a deodorant from a good brand.
Overall, as you can probably tell, I wasn't a fan of this one at all. I expect a deodorant from a brand like Dove to last me most of the day, but this one struggled to give good protection for more than 4 hours which to me is not acceptable and so therefore, I cannot recommend this deodorant, though it won't put me off purchasing others in the range as this is still my favourite brand for deodorants - I will just be giving this one a wide berth in the future!
