Advantages: Great anti perspirant
Disadvantages: Didn't minimise hair
I first discovered this product about a month ago while purusing the shelves of my local supermarket but decided to give it a proper trail before writing a review on, I think it's had long enough now so here goes...
Dove
By now most people will be familiar with Dove products for both men and women. Dove make shampoos, conditioners, deodorants and anti perspirants, soap and body washes, bubble baths, body lotions and hand lotions. Dove also operate the campaign for real beauty which incorporates the self esteem fund, everybody will have seem the ads which try to banish the stereo-typical idea of a beautiful woman (e.g a stick thin model) and use real women of all different shapes and sizes instead.
I myself have quite a positive image of Dove as a company and think that generally they make pretty good quality products.
The Spray
This spray is one of Dove's newest products. It's available in three different scents: wild rose, silky lily and Nature fresh. The bottle is 150ml but it is also available in roll on. The spray is for use on underarms and promises that your pits will look and stay hair free for longer.
The spray contains a unique hair minimising formula containing something called pro-epil complex.
The Science
Pro-Epil complex smooths the hair to make it feel softer and finer. The spray also contains moisturisers and sunflower seed oil, that takes away the dryness caused by shaving, together the ingredients will make the skin appear plumper and softer so hair is less noticiable.
The Scent
I myself have only tried the Wild rose variety, and it is a very nice scent, if you like floral scents I would highly recommend this one there also seems to be a bit of a fruity undertone in there too, it's very very nice.
Performance
As an anti perspireant I really couldn't fault this product. It claims to last for 24 hours (i always have a bath or a shower before the 24 hours is up) but even during the recent spell of hot weather there was no need to re-apply, the scent faded but my armpits felt dry all day long.
Unfortunately as for the hair minimising effect i didn't notice any difference at all, I still had to shave my underarms just as often as I always did and if I did leave them an extra day the regrowth didn't seem any finer or less noticable to me.
Price
I paid £1.89 from ASDA, this was an introductory price which has now risen to the extortionate price of £2.36
Overall
I was a bit dissapointed with the hair minimising but as an anti-perspirant it does a brilliant job although a little too expensive for my pocket.
Also on ciao
Summary: Good for sweat but the science bit doesn't work
