I got this product as a gift from a friend for Christmas. I have a lot of body sprays that go unused and I thought this would be the same as the rest - boring and floral. However, when I sprayed it the smell was unlike any of the other sprays I've had in the past.
It's described by FCUK as being 'a soft floral oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes'. I agree with this statement except for the 'soft..scent' part, because it's a bit strong when first sprayed. However, it fades a little during the day and then it definitely does soften. They also weren't wrong about the pepper! You can definitely pick out an almost spicy quality to the scent that really sets it apart from other floral scents.
A noticeable downside would have to be that it fades during the day. However, you can't expect it to stay throughout the whole day as I've never had a body spray that lasted that long. And also, as previously mentioned above, the strong quality of the smell means it fades and softens over the course of the day, meaning it probably lasts longer than most other body sprays. It also means that the scent almost changes over the day, going from a peppery, spicy scent to more of a vanilla and violet scent with only a hint of pepper, which I happen to like very much.
Also, I would have to warn against using too much due to it's powerful scent. I recommend 2/3 sprays focusing on different areas of the body.
It comes in a 200ml bottle which I believe is a very good size. I've had mine since Christmas and have been using it off and on and I still have a little left now (August).
Overall, a good product. The scent is distinguishable from many other scents due to it's peppery undertones. Although some may find it too spicy and a little overwhelming if too much is applied, I love it's uniqueness and have received many compliments when wearing it.
I just adore FCUK products and on the run up for Christmas Boots do some amazing gift sets! I've been using French Connection toiletries for around five years now; some I like more than others and some have become a 'must have' item.
FCUK Pure - Body spray:
'For fresh fragrant skin, spritz the body with Pure body spray. Use the enlivening floral scent in the morning to awaken and revitalise or indulge in throughout the day to refresh and rejuvenate. The sensual, oriental fragrance leaves the skin feeling deliciously scented from head to toe'
- www. frenchconnection.com
When I first received a bottle of this many Christmas's a go in a large set, I was in two minds if I actually liked it or not. It was a nice clean scent but in my mind I expected something on the sweeter side. I have since re-purchased a bottle of this body spray and had some more as gifts.
I guess before I even sprayed it I was a little hesitant as to whether I was going to like it. As it states 'A soft floral oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes'. Me personally I am not a massive fan of floral scents.
As I sprayed it for the first time I found it smelled rather fresh and clean, but really that is something I look for in a shower gel not so much in a body spray. Still I carried on using it and I must admit I did grow to like it. For me I can not detect any vanilla notes what so ever, which for me was a little disappointing as I do adore vanilla.
For me I found this on the strong side when first applying but luckily it dampers down to nice subtitle but noticeable oriental warm aroma. For a body spray in my opinion the longevity is brilliant, as I have found in the past some body sprays don't even last the hour mark. This one however I feel lasts a good six hours or so.
Over the course of time wearing this spray I think it gets nicer the longer you have it on. It seems to get a little sweeter and warmer. But I guess this might differ a little from person to person due to the natural oils on the skin. I normally enjoy this one when coming away from the gym, it really does hold its scent well and I still feel clean while working out.
This body spray comes in a plastic bottle with a spray lid; I've never had a problem with any of the sprays. The bottle is neatly designed and I personally think suits the product well. Once empty please do remember to recycle.
The body scent is clear in colour and I have sprayed it on a number of things over the years! Clothes, bed covers, curtains, bath room rugs all of with has never stained or damaged in anyway.
Price and Availability:
I can no longer see this one on the Boots website; however it is still for sale on the FCUK site. You can also find this on eBay. For the 200ml you can expect to pay around £4.50.
This was a scent that grew on me and I have come too really like this one over the years, nice fresh clean scent. Perfect staying power and excellent value for money. As a bottle can last me months!
Four out of five stars from me.
Thank you for reading.
This was another of the lovely fcuk items that were in the travel bag I received as a gift last Christmas. It is not one of the products I had used before and while it will not replace the normal fcuk perfume I use it is a nice refreshing alternative.
One of the things I love about fcuk is that they do not test on animals and while more and more companies are going down this road they are one of the first big names I heard did not do it.
This is cheap and cheerful as the labels are stuck on rather than printed to the bottle. It is a very plain blue colour and with a white plastic spray top. Although I have not tried this I am sure it will be possible to wash out the bottle and use it for other products when travelling. The clear plastic lid means that the spray won't be activated when being carried around in a handbag. It is a 200ml bottle and a couple of sprays is more than enough to last for the day.
According to the label it is a "an oriental scent ...of violet, pepper and vanilla but I can't pick any of them out individually. When I first sprayed it I was worried that it was going to be overpowering but it settles down quickly. It does not fade too much as I have been able to smell it on the clothes the next day.
I was a bit worried to read that the instructions are to avoid contact with the face, polished surfaces and plastic. Also eyes should be washed if contact is made and it should not be used near to flames. What have they put into this perfume!!!
They don't actually put on the bottle what is in the perfume and after the warnings it may be best that I don't know.
It is made in Thailand although there is an address for fcuk in Nottingham on the bottle in case there are any questions or problems with the product. I tend to think of this as a light ant summery perfume so can't imagine I will use it much in the winter and hope it will smell just as nice next summer.
At the moment it is available for £4 and I am not aware of there being any special offers for it.

I was given this at Christmas as part of a gift set. I'd never had this before and thought it would probably be put in a cupboard and forgotten about like many I've had in the past. However I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely this one smelt. It's a very light, flowery scent, not too strong or too sweet.
It comes in a very attractive light blue/teal colour bottle. The spray function works well on the bottle, sprays evenly and a good amount per spray. The liquid looks as though it's coloured but that's just the bottle colour that gives that impression. It has a little plastic lid which stays on fairly.
The scent lasts a good while but I do find I'm spraying it on again throughout the day. I've had friends commenting on how nice a smell it is I'm wearing and asking what it is. I think this product is great for using after a morning shower to give a nice fresh feeling.
It's a good sized bottle that can fit in to your bag. I find it very useful to take to the gym, swimming, on holiday etc. You can buy this in smaller bottles as well. I've seen a 75ml bottle. This would be a better size for in a handbag to take for everyday use.
I love the smell of this body spray. It's something I use frequently. After finishing the bottle I'd be given I've since purchased more. I got this in Boots the other day priced £4.34 for a 200ml bottle. I think that's quite good value for this product as it last well too.
I got this body spray in a gift set this Christmas time and am about ¾ of the way through the bottle now. I have looked online and you can buy this product for £4.00 per 200ml in Boots and they currently have an offer on where if you spend £6.00 on FCUK products you receive a free gift so it might be worth having a look!
The bottle is clear but with some pale blue or green tint to it and it also has some light blue swirls going around the bottle. There is the fcuk pure writing going down the side of the bottle and then there is a brief description running along the bottom of the bottle. There is a clear lid on the spray to avoid any spillages.
The information at the bottom of the bottle says that the body spray is a soft floral, oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes. So can I smell any of those things? Well no, not really! To me the product has quite an unusual scent but very fresh smelling too. I can't say it is my favourite scent but as it was bought for me I will use it.
I quite often spray it on to my clothes just before I leave for work just to give me a bit of extra scent for the day ahead. Of course you are supposed to spray it on your actual body and the instructions are that you hold it 15-20cm away from your body and spray. The spray does come out in quite a large fine mist when you press the pump and I would say around four sprays would be apt to leave you with some fragrance.
The product is suitable to be kept for 24 months before you should really dispose of it and the bottle is recyclable.
The size of the bottle is handy to take away with you or just carry in your bag for day to day use when you just feel the need to freshen up. The fragrance doesn't last all day and I would say it probably lasts just an hour or so but I don't really expect a body spray to last all that well anyway.
So do I recommend this? Well it isn't something I would go out and actually buy myself. I tend to prefer the aerosol body sprays as I feel they last a little longer on my skin but if someone bought me this product again I would use it. In summary I think if you like fresh smells but are prepared to have to apply it regularly than once this would be a good body spray for you. There are however many cheaper alternatives out there so for that reason I will give the spray 3 stars.
FCUK (French Connection) was founded in 1972. The company is known for selling clothes and accessories at premium prices. They also have a range of toiletries.
Here we have the FCUK Pure Body Spray. The Pure range is extensive and offers various beauty products.
This spray is described as being "a soft floral oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes".
The body spray comes in rounded, plastic bottle which is see through and therefore you can see how much is remaining. The bottle has an integrated spray nozzle on top and a plastic lid to avoid leakages.
The bottle is a light green shade with contrasting colour designs. The writing is in black and therefore stands out against the clear background. The FCUK logo, product name and a description can be found on one side of the bottle. Further round, you will find directions for use, ingredients and contact details for FCUK in Nottingham.
The bottle can be recycled after use and once opened, is safe to use for 24months.
Simply remove the cap and hold 15-20cm from skin. Spritz the desired amount from head to toe.
*Availability and Price*
This body spray can be purchased in a 75ml mini size for £2.25. It is also available in a larger 200ml size for £4.00. I have so far only seen this range available in Boots.
I always recognise the fairly rude sounding FCUK brand as being expensive and way out of my price range! I shop in Boots and was shocked to see quite a large range of FCUK products for sale and at fairly affordable prices. My Mum must have realised I was interested and treated me to one of the giftsets last Christmas. In this set, there was the travel size FCUK Pure Body Spray.
This little dinky bottle is perfect for handbags and taking on holiday or weekends away (I am not that lucky so mine stays in my bathroom :( ). The light green colour gives the rather plain bottle a more attractive appearance and the little plastic lid stays on fairly well even when bumped about.
I like body sprays but often find aerosols a bit harsh to the point where I am spluttering for 5mins after spraying! This spray appears to be more water based as the contained liquid is runny and clear.
Spraying this from a distance, the liquid comes out in a fine mist and is very cooling against my sensitive skin. The initial scent shocked me as it was very like hairspray/deodorant and was rather strong. It took a while to settle down on my skin and the fragrance notes started to etch through.
It is described as being softly oriental. Well I have never been over that way of the world but I can understand what this may smell like. It was quite strong but this scent soon subsided. The pepper and violet tones were evident pretty quickly and blended well together for a floral yet spicy kick. The vanilla tone came through last and was sweet without being sickly. I did like the scent overall once it had settled.
As for long lasting, I would have expected this to last a few hours as the initial scent was so powerful. Unfortuantely this was not the case. Within approx 30mins..I could no longer smell the scent on my skin. Not even a trace.
For the 30mins that this body spray worked, my skin felt refreshed and beautifully scented but all good things come to an end.
I don't think I would buy this once my bottle runs out as there are cheaper sprays which provide a longer lasting scent.
Thanks for reading :)
The FCUK pure body spray is advertised as a SOFT floral scent. I bought it as many of the normal body sprays irritate my skin. It comes in a slightly blue coloured 200ml bottle with a swirl design on it.
This is a great bodyspray for the sensitive types, although very fragranced it doesnt give me that horrible itching skin.
It doesnt give that horrible alcohol smell when first applying.
The design is standard but nice, it is a cylindrical bottle with a little cap and spray mechanism beneath. Very durable and has lasted AGES.
Saying it is a soft floral scent is an understatement, it is very overpowering! Although I like the scent maybe 2 hours after application when it's toned down a bit, at first its just very unpleasant.
The spray mechanims is not like other body sprays which give a continuous spray, it is more like an Eau De Toilette, in that its one spray. The mechanim does give out a lot of liquid in one spray, much too much for a wrist.
I tend to use this spray on furniture etc. in my house as a room spray. Its much to powerful a scent.
Pure body spray
I found this today and I forgot that I even had it and then I remembered how much I like it. I have the 75ml spray bottle and I quite like the simple, fresh blue/teal packaging.
It contains soft floral notes, it says on the bottle that it is an oriental scent but in my opinion it isn't really. It is more soft, fruity, summery, airy and light and it is just really really light on my skin it just covers my skin in a light mist of wonderful fragrance.
It is also in a really handy convenient spray bottle that is perfect for putting in your hand bag or in a make up bag or for holidays to refresh your skin in the heat. It is a clear liquid but it looks blue because of the blue bottle, so it doesn't stain my clothing.
Another thing that I like about this product is that it is made in the UK, most products that I see now are not made in the UK, but this one is which is good. But I don't know if it is recyclable, as it doesn't have a recycling symbol on but it has a kind of yin and yang thing on it, If anyone knows what this means please leave a comment.
*A really nice, light, airy, summer, floral fragrance that make me smile when I smell it
*Good high quality French connection UK brand
*Nice small bottle - handy spray bottle
*Pretty and simple blue bottle design
*Very handy to have in my bag or on holiday
*Leaves a delicate fragrance on my skin which lasts a long time
*Really cheap as at boots it is now on sale at £2.67, save £1.33 for 200ml! which is really really good
Thank you for reading my review
I bought this in Boots a year or so ago because I felt like treating myself. There were no testers, as is fairly standard for body sprays. The description was quite elaborate for an inexpensive scent: apparently the fragrance is built around violet, pepper and vanilla notes, and is generally in the 'floriental' category.
I am not keen on vanilla in perfumes at all, and I also find the 'fcuk' brand very irritating - it's not big or clever to have an anagram of a swear word on products - and I think I was unduly influenced by the blue-green colour of the product, because I was looking for something fresh and uplifting, like the Boots Natural Collection Ocean Deep scent, which has sadly been discontinued. I did find the idea of the pepper notes intriguing. I bought the 75ml smaller bottle of the Pure body spray which was £2.25 (I see on the Boots website that it currently costs £1.50).
The bottle is quite pretty; the turquoise liquid shows through it, and there are black and turquoise swirly lines on the bottle, as well as the usual writing. It's a natural spray, which I much prefer to aerosols. The spray pump is white.
I tried out the body spray when I got home, and I was surprised by the complexity of the fragrance. I could smell the violet to an extent, and it was mixed with a general 'sweet' smell with a hint of cucumber freshness. There was a black peppery sort of edge to it, too, but on the whole I'd say it was quite musky. The muskiness, peppery and sweet notes stayed around for quite a while. I didn't detect too much vanilla, which pleased me. I found the scent lasted a long time on clothing, and a fairly long time on the skin considering it was just a body spray.
I have worn this scent occasionally since I've had it, and it doesn't seem to have gone past its best. It's not my favourite sort of smell; I'd prefer something a bit more fresh and a bit less musky, but it is quite nice and subtle, so I'd recommend giving it a try if you like the idea of a musky, peppery yet floral scent. I don't think 'pure' is a very accurate name, as that, to me, suggests citrus and freshness! Vanilla fans may be disappointed, too.
*** What is it? ***
FCUK Pure body spray is part of the Pure range of toiletries developed by FCUK in conjunction with Boots. I'm not normally bothered about whether my toiletries and cosmetics are designer and I stopped liking FCUK clothes years ago, but when I was given an FCUK set for Christmas last year I was really impressed by the quality of the bath and body products. My initial gift set included Pure body scrub and body lotion and when they ran out I decided to buy the body spray from Boots so that I could keep enjoying its delicious scent.
*** Packaging ***
The spray (I bought the 75ml mini bottle) comes in a long, tallish pale turquoise-tinted plastic bottle with a white plastic pump-spray and cap. It looks ok, though a little cheap compared to the packaging for the scrub and body lotion. The bottle is decorated with a pale blue flowery/swirly pattern which I think clashes with the more utilitarian black text, leaving the overall look a little to 'busy' for my liking.
*** How to use ***
Simply spray directly onto the skin before dressing, holding the bottle 15-20 cm away from the body. According to the instructions on the bottle this product can be used "from top to toe", but I wouldn't recommend spraying it near the eyes. You should also avoid spraying it near painted or polished surfaces as it could cause damage.
Due to the nature of the pump spray, the product comes out in liquid form - it's still a mist, but not as well-dispersed as it would be from an aerosol. Therefore you have to wait a few seconds for it to dry before dressing.
*** My experience ***
I bought this product for the uplifting fragrance and I wasn't disappointed. It is described by FCUK as "a soft, floral, oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes".
When you first spray it, it's definitely the heady violet notes that dominate; I don't usually like flowery scents and prefer sweet perfumes, and this is about as floral a perfume as I can stand. The violet top notes soon fade little, though, and the fragrance changes into something akin to parma violet sweets. As I child I hated the smell of parma violets, but the vanilla in FCUK Pure makes the violet element sweeter and softer. This violet-vanilla melange may sound a little sickly, but the pepper notes add a hint of sharpness to the overall scent, making it a little spicy. I find it really fresh and revitalising to use in the morning, but when it fades it becomes quite warm, so is suitable for evening use too.
If you're a fan of vanilla-based perfumes you might find this too flowery and if you prefer musky scents you'll possibly think it's too sweet (this does have musk as a base note, but I can't detect it myself). After the initial application it is not overpowering, though, and fades quickly so that it ends up quite a subtle fragrance.
*** Staying power ***
Unfortunately this is where the product falls down. I find that the fragrance fades quickly and about two hours after application I can no longer detect it on my skin. So it's not the kind of product you can apply one in the morning then forget about; you'll need to keep topping it up throughout the day. I took to keeping a bottle in the bathroom at work and applying it a few times a day. It seems the fragrance was popular with other people in my office and not just myself, though, as I noticed that the bottle started to run out suspiciously quickly! The product should be used within 24 months after opening - so that won't be a problem for me.
Another negative point is that the bottle started to look a bit tatty after a few months. I've had it about 4 months now and condensation has started to build up on the inside of the bottle, giving it a 'sweaty' appearance on the outside. This can be removed if you give the bottle a good shake but it comes back and doesn't look very nice. In addition, the plastic label that covers most of the outside of the bottle has gone cloudy-looking and slightly sticky, which doesn't really make me want to use the product up.
*** Where to buy ***
FCUK Pure body spray can be purchased at Boots branches or online at www.boots.com , where it's £4 for 200ml or £2.25 for a 75ml bottle. On the FCUK website www.frenchconnection.com I can only find it as part of a £10.00 Pure gift set at the moment.
*** Conclusion ***
A lovely, warm but refreshing scent, but I think I'll stick to the other Pure products in future.
I recieved this body spray in set along with the shower gel and body lotion of the same make for Christmas and it's honestly one of the loveliest scents I've come across.
I've always stayed away from FCUK products as I've thought they were ridiculously over-priced for what they are and generally just smell rather synthetic and cheap. Yet this seems quite different and retails for around £3.91 for a small 75ml bottle.
The packaging is lovely and conveys a really fresh and airy feel. The atomiser is generous when it doles out the spray - you can feel like you're drowning in it until it's rubbed in when it then feels almost moisturising on the skin.
This is great to use as an everyday perfume instead of wasting your expensive cologne and the spray itself really refrehes you as it's applied to the skin.
The scent is quite unusual and I'd imagine not to everyones taste but I love it! It's definitely vanilla based and reminds me a bit of The Body Shop's 'White Musk' range whilst holding peppery and flowery overtones. It's definitely girly and when used with the shower gel and body lotion the scent lingers for ages - whereas just using the spray on its own tends to leave you feeling like you're not wearing any scent after a few hours.
A good product overall and one I'd buy (or request as a gift) again.
I received this originally as part of a gift set for Christmas a couple of years ago and it took me quite a few months to start using it but I really was pleasantly surprised once I did.
The bottle is clear plastic with swirly lines on it and a press down top which is white and has a clear plastic cap on the top. It's great for just throwing in to my wash bag or even my handbag depending on the side of it.
The spray is very easy to use with just a couple of presses required to cover the top half of my body and as soon as I apply this spray I find that my body feels a little warmer so it's fantastic to use first thing in the morning. It has a nice scent to it but nothing I can really put my finger on, it's really just a floral scent. It is not a greasy spray and I don't feel the need to rub it in at all and within a minute or two of applying I put my clothes on (if I'm applying it before I dress). The smell lasts for hours on my skin or on my clothes and I'm really happy with it. I have since brought a couple of bottles of this and while I don't use it everyday I do use it fairly regularly. A 200ml currently costs £4.00 from Boots stores or www.boots.co.uk I think that this is a little expensive but I wouldn't hesitate to pay for this as I really enjoy using this body spray and my other half often comments on how nice I smell.
I would recommend this and I am rating it 4/5 because I think it's a lovely scent in a pretty bottle and it keeps me smelling fresh throughout the day.
I was given this body spray at Christmas, it came as a full gift pack.
Although the rest of the gift set has been nicely scented, I found this to be a very overpowering floral scent to it, actually the same sort of scent as you would have with an air freshener.
It states that it is a soft floral oriental scent built around a "delicious fusion" of violet, pepper and vanilla notes, and that by using it your skin will feel refreshed.
However, the few times I have used it I have not noticed a refreshing feeling, nor oriental, just a very pungent smell, which makes me sneeze! I may have tried using it a little more if the vanilla had outweighed the rest of the scent but unfortunately it doesnt.
The fragance also seems not to last for more than half an hour, which is probably a good thing this time round.
Although this is not a particularly expensive product, I have seen it in the shops for a little more than £4, I know that there are plenty of other nicer smelling body sprays around such as Charlie or Impulse at half the price.
I think I will stick to those.
Definitely not a product that I will think about buying.
I was given this body spray and thought any old scent is fine by me when I am at home bumming about. This however has stayed in my drawer and I am now planning on giving it away if I get any takers but most of my friends and even my daughter don't like it!
This has a very odd scent and I can't put my finger on why it is that it really doesn't work!
It has a very sweet marshmallow type of smell to it, when it is first sprayed it just smells very fake, in a chemical imitation way. It has a peppery hint that makes me want to cough and that just makes the sweet smell really standout and they fight for supremacy.
It is meant to be a soft floral oriental scent, I don't know where the oriental comes into it, that is lost on me I just think it is very floral!
This doesn't last long on the skin and so you need to use more of it the thing is that when I used it, it gave me a headache!
This really isn't a good effort from FCUK! It costs £4, save it and spend it on something nicer! For less you could buy some impulse which is far nicer and has a choice of scents!
Floral scents to rejuvenate and lift you up in the morning!
