i tend to prefer roll-ons as opposed to spray deodorants , and i must admit that i don't really care about which brand it is. it just needs to be cheap, and do its job. if however i find a branded one on offer then it's a bonus.
garnier mineral ultra dry was on offer at my local Asda, so thinking that they are supposed to be a good make i snapped one up. very disappointing however. it has a very pleasent smell, but the claim that it last 48 hours is a bit of an exaggeration.personally i would say it lasts about 8 hours.
it's such a shame because i love the colour/design of the bottle and obviously the size ( fits nicely in handbag).
unfortunately this is not something that i would recommend to my friends,i will probably just stick to buying non descript roll ons,or any that are just plain cheap lol
Being a stickler for trying different deodorants rather than simply buying the same one every time, when I saw this deodorant on offer in my local Wilkinsons I was enthusiastic to give it a go. I have in the past used a variety of products from Garnier including hair colour and moisturiser but had never bought anything from their deodorant range. I have now been using my new found purchase for around a month and have been very pleased with the results.
This deodorant comes in two options those being a spray deodorant and a roll on, however being that I like to use a roll on better than a spray I opted for this option. The product is simply packaged in a white case with a screw top green lid. Again the green colouring is used on the label which tells you that this is deodorant is part of the 'Mineral' range by Garnier. The bottle design for this product is slightly different to the standard and I must admit that this is what drew me to it in the first place. The bottle stands on its head as oppose to being upright and has a slightly rounded shape which fits comfortably into the ball of my hand. To sample the fragrance of the deodorant I found the smell to be a lovely clean and slightly citrus fragrance, difficult to describe but nevertheless a very fresh smell which was not overpowering.
Garnier claim that this deodorant gives 48 hours protection against sweat, gives a feeling of all day freshness and contains no alcohol.
Price and Availability
I bought a bottle of this deodorant from Wilkinsons and paid around £1 for it. However I have seen it for a similar price in a number of supermarkets,
Being that I have now been wearing this deodorant for around a month I have put it through a number of daily tasks which have tested how good it really is. I will therefore be marking this deodorant on sweat protection, fragrance longevity and all day freshness.
1. Sweat Protection
OK, so I must admit that I am not the biggest sweat producer, being that my job does require me to sit behind a desk for the majority of the day. However in this lovely sunny weather I have been exercising on my lunch break and the warm walks do cause me to start perspiring. This deodorant does not completely stop my underarms producing sweat however it does mean that any dampness under my arms smells fresh and clean therefore protecting me for the remainder of the afternoon at work. As I have never gone unwashed for less than 16 hours, I am unable to comment on the 48 hour claim however can testify to this deodorant being good enough to last an entire day without needing reapplication.
2. Fragrance Longevity
I do love the smell of this deodorant as it is fresh and slightly floral at the same time and a real compliment to my perfume. This scent goes on in the morning and rubs into the underarms on my clothing meaning that when I raise my arms I get a delightful whiff of fragrance during the day. Plus I put this deodorant on at 6 o'clock this morning and it still smells as nice now as it did then so I am pretty impressed.
3. All Day Freshness
This point is probably reiterated in my comments on fragrance longevity; however I do feel and smell fresh throughout the day and can therefore testify to this deodorant really giving me all day freshness.
Overall this is a brilliant little deodorant, the bottle being design being nifty, the fragrance being a real pleasure and the freshness claims being completely justified.
As a result I do recommend this product as a great value little buy and would therefore recommend it. Based on my comments above this deodorant scores a great five stars from me.
Thanks for reading! x
When it comes to deodorant I tend to prefer and appreciate a spray on one however the other week in my local Poundland store I saw this on offer for £1.00 and usually liking Garnier products and there not being a lot on offer in there at the time I opted to try it though this is widely available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc for around the £2.00.
This comes in a white and green plastic bottle which holds 50ml of the product. On the front of it we are told that it is Garnier Mineral Ultradry 'Ultimate Protection' and that it gives 48h non stop protection and that it allows skin to breath and contains no alcohol and no parabens and of course is an antiperspirant. On the back of the bottle we are told a bit about the product, to use it within 12 months of opening it, the size is listed which is 50ml and contact details for the manufacturer are stated. All in all this is a nice enough looking bottle with nice contrasting strips of fushia coloured plastic to the screw on/off lid which is positioned to the bottom of the product and the bottle is also slightly curvy to give ease of handling.
The Product Itself:
Due to the fact this has a nice large frosted and easy moving rollerball to the bottom of it it really is very simple to use and I like the fact that the rollerball is to the bottom of the bottle so that I dont have to faff about getting the product out and to work. Fragrance wise, well its rather nice and I guess slightly floral though natural, light and quite airy and I do like the fragrance of this and once on I can smell it under my pits very gently for a couple of hours since I applied it.
The liquid comes out thinnly, none sticky and clear and it really does dry very fast indeed leaving no feeling of residue on my skin or dryness or anything adverse at all in fact I think this adds a little gentle moisturisation if anything that seems to work all day long (or night lol).
I can't comment on if this works for 48 hours and I won't lie and say I don't bath that often cos I do. I can say though that I pop this on in the morning and it works well for me till the night time when I have my bath or if really, really tired the following morning. I wouldn't describe myself as an overly sweaty/smelly person though but I have never caught a nasty whiff of myself after using this and it does seem to keep me dry, important in this really glorious weather we are experiencing this last few days in Weston Super Mare!
However there is one major setback for me with this produt sadly and this is why I don't use it very often and won't be replacing it. I wear alot of dark clothes and it does mark them with a white powdery residue. I don't know why this happens I can't see or feel a residue on my skin but its certainly there and doesn't look nice on my clothes! I tend to only use this now when I know that I'm wearing light coloured clothes and that to be fair has solved the problem that I was having with it.
I can't say it doesn't work and the results that it has given me have been great but even though the stains in my clothes do wash out I'm not happy they are there and highly visible when I'm wearing them!

I bought the roll on anti persperant, shortly after a widespread campaign by garnier, promoting the natural minerals inside these products. The reason that I did not buy the spray, was that after you apply the spray over and over, it wears down tissue found in your armpit, which over time can lead to cancer.
The shape of the container, allows easy appliance. What I liked about the design was that when you close the container, it clicks into place, reassuring you that it is closed fully, and putting your mind at ease, that ther will be no spillages!!
The smell of the anti persperant, is not too strong or overpowering, but is gentle and sweet. The container stated also that these were natural ingredients, so I was assured furthermore by the smell, that I was not applying unecessary chemicals onto my skin.
When applied, the roll on was smooth, and was even, allowing a gentle appliance. It dried quickly, and was not heavy once applied.
True to its word, it did keep me dry for 48 hours, which at first I was speculative of, as it did not contain-in my opinion-harmful ingredients.I would advise it for those who persperate frequently, as at last here is an anti persperant that can keep us dry!
The price is very reasonable, considering the quantity use pleasure and ease bof mind that you will receive out of it!!
I bought this product not long ago as it was on offer, i thought i would try it and i must say im very impressed. some deodorants can leave a white mark on clothes or seem very talc-y but this one doesn't, it also smells really nice and is gentle on your skin leaving it soft. There's also no worry about having to put more on during the day, i work in a bakery and it can get very hot, but with this deodorant i do not have to worry, as im still fresh at the end of my shift, its a great deodorant for busy people, hot hot days or anyone who wants nice smelling and soft underarms!
I recently bought this product from ASDA store not long ago. I thought it would be quite good because since I tend to buy the garnier hairspray which workds wonders for my hair. And the can was quite big so I thought it'd last a while. It was the spray can that I used. I prefer the spray deodorants rather than the roll on ones. When I got round to using it, it made me sneeze several times. And it gave me a slight headache aswell. The smell was absolutely awful to me. Since I sweat quite a lot I thought it might go to use during the day. So, throughout the day, I found myself feeling that sweat. I honestly felt like I was sweating even more. So, no. I don't think this product is worth buying although I definitely recommend giving their hairspray a try, it's worth it. I wouldn't reccomend buying this product to anyone.
Having a busy life as a Mum,and always being on the go -Im always keen to try a new effective ant perspirant and this one from Garnier really hits the spot.
Its a 48 hour non stop anti perspirant double action which means not only do you stay dry all day the anti white marks means your favourite tops wont become discoloured and stained in the armpit area either, the added benefits of no alcohol means its not drying for that delicate area and your skin can really breathe whilst staying fresh smelling
Its an attractive can with mint green detailing and a handy little switch on the side of the lid which means there's no danger of it being sprayed in your bag.
The only danger for me was not only did I like this anti perspirant so did the rest of my (male) family so one can really didn't last that long.
Garnier is not a brand I would associate with deodorants but being a brand I knew and trusted to deliver it's promises I decided to give this particular roll on a try. I generally use both a roll on and anti-perspirant one or the other depending on what I'm doing so I always like to have a stock of them in. Plus it does mean that I can buy big brand names for less as I never have to pay full price for them. Anyway today I will be reviewing Garnier's offering of a mineral roll on deodorant.
*~* Packaging *~*
I must admit aside from the price it was the packaging that drew me to this product. It is a lot different to the shapes of other deodorants out there. Very curved and sleek with bold, bright colours of a rich green and deep purple does make it very feminine looking but not girly more classy which is something which I did like.
This is top down which you don't always find. I much prefer this way as it means there is always the actual deodorant touching the ball on the inside so no problems getting it out and onto your skin.
I found the bottle very easy to hold to apply, much more than that of say Radox whose bottle is very wide, thise has a nipped in 'waist' meaning it is much smaller to hold and therefore much easier to apply.
*~* Price and Availability *~*
I found this the very first time in Sainsbury retailing for half the regular price. This normally is around £2 from the larger supermarkets, I paid just 84p so a little less than half.
I have noticed it in chemists such as Boots and Superdrug as well as large supermarkets: Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury. So plenty of availability.
I feel the price is a bit high normally but if it can be found on offer then it's a good contender, I generally never pay more than £1 per branded roll on so for me on sale it is within budget.
*~* The Deodorant *~*
On opening the screw cap you are presented with a clear ball that rolls around to apply the gel to your skin, hence the name. To get the gel round I used my fingers to start it turning as I find that when applying the plastic straight to my skin it can snag and be painful.
It has a very fresh, clean scent. Very nice and a lot different from what I have experienced with other products. It's not overwhelmingly powerful but it does have a strong first aroma. After application I found that this died down and was very subtle and perfect for applying perfume as it wouldn't taint the scent. I'm not sure how to describe it, to me it doesn't smell 'floral' in the classic sense of the word but there is a hint of flowers in there. That doesn't make sense at all but it's difficult to explain. It's definately in the same boat as the packaging very classy and grown up rather than a girly scent.
I found that applying this was exceptionally easy. It glided on with no problems and felt smooth against my skin. I did find in comparison that there did seem to be quite a lot of the gel applied which wasn't a problem but not something I'm used to. As yet the actual rolling ball hasn't became clogged or stuck and it still works very well despite daily use.
It dries in very quickly and leaves no marks against my clothing, even dark colours. My skin hasn't been affected in anyway, there was no irritation or itching and I found that this was gentle enough to apply straight after shaving with no adverse affects.
The label states 48 hours freshness and I may just sweat more than others but I can't say I find this to be true, I would say that on an average day after 6-8 hours I find myself wanting to reapply to get that same fresh feeling again. I did feel disappointed in that it didn't live upto the claims, not that I expected 48 hours worth of freshness but I did expect a days worth so from morning till evening but this didn't happen at all.
*~* Overall *~*
Overall this is a product that I don't mind at all. It is gentle to the skin, has a nice fragrance, no adverse affects whilst using and it lasts an ok amount of time. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this but I would buy it when it's around the £1 mark.
I'll give this product 3/5 stars which is mainly for the distinctive packaging and nice scent than living up to it's claims.
Never being a fan of spray deoderants I always look around to see what the cheapest nicest smelling deoderants are on offer at the supermarket.
Seeing this roll on on offer for 99p at Sainsburys and smelling the gorgeous scent of the deoderant I decided to give Garnier a try out. I had only ever associated Garnier with hair products (that also smell delicious) and was extremely excited to give this mineral dry roll on a go.
The bottle is very eye catching and is unlike any other bottle out there on the market. The shape of the bottle makes it extremely easy to hold and the packaging is lovely on the eye. With a white container the lid is an eye catching green and purple which matches the labelling.
The application ball works well and does not jam like some other roller balls that I have come across in the past. Working the product smoothly onto underarms a gorgeous fragrence is left behind and can last you upto 48hrs protection!
Drying quickly there is never any problem with marks on clothes and having to wait around for it to dry before putting on your outfit for the day.
If they made this in a perfume I would use it all over!
I've always associated Garnier with hair products such as hair spray and hair dyes, they are a fairly well-known reputable company so when I saw this new deodrant on offer in Morrisons for £1 I didn't think twice about adding it to my trolley.
The spray comes in a normal spray cannister which is primarily white with a green spray nozzle. The white cannister is mainly covered with images of green crystals and product descriptions including the promise of 48hr non-stop protection. This spray also has a locking system meaning that it won't cover your handbag contents in deodrant or to stop small children from attempting to spray the deodrant.
The smell is highly perfumed and actually smells more like a sweet perfume than a deodrant. It isn't a floral scent like most other deodrants but more of a fruity, fresh perfume. The scent is very noticable and I have found that it does last for the first few hours that you are wearing the deodrant.
You use the deodrant just like any other deodrant-you spray under the arms with a 15cm distance to avoid irritation. I have found that this deodrant is very gentle to my sensitive skin and has caused no irritation whatsoever, so even if you have sensitive skin but are still interested in the deodrant it is well worth a try!
As for the 48hr protection-I find it had to test or believe this statement in all honesty! Despite this, it does keep me dry all day (for about 12-16 hours) without the need to reapply which is all a deodrant needs to do in my opinion.
As I previously metioned, I paid £1 for this deodrant in the 150ml size which is a very reasonable size for a deodrant and I can see it lasting several weeks. £1 for a deodrant is very cheap indeed especially as it is from a leading brand and smells so good.
This deodrant definitely comes with a seal of approval from me-as for the 48hr protection I guess I'll just have to take Garnier's word for it as I have no means of testing this! However, it is well worth a try especially as the special promotion price!
---- General information -----
Garnier Mineral is the new anti-perspirant offering from one the popular high street brands that I trust.
There are two formats of this product: spray and roll-on and in my review I will be concentrating on the roll-on format. The packaging informs me that this product contains no alcohol or parabens, allows the skin to breathe and provides ultimate protection against sweat and odour for 48 hours. It is enriched with Mineralite, which is a naturally absorbent mineral of volcanic origin that captures moisture and prevents you from sweating. I was even more hooked on this product when I saw Boots offered it half price for £0.89 (current price in Boots is £1).
There are six different types of this mineral deodorant: Ultra, Invisible, Fresh, Silky, Extracare ad Sensitive. I chose the Ultra version for optimal protection, which seemed like the most powerful of the range. I am currently very active with sport classes during the week and need an antiperspirant that will keep me relatively dry during the class.
----- Packaging and appearance -----
The appearance of the product is quite strange to be honest, but this was also intriguing as no other antiperspirant I've seen on the high street looks like this. It has an hour-glass shape which in the top part is very thin and in the bottom part is round and wide in order to hold the rolling ball. I have to admit that the shape of this antiperspirant makes it easy to grab and apply, however it feels bulky and I prefer not to take it with me when I am travelling.
The product stands on the lid, which is very easy to open. However, it doesn't work exactly like another screw cap antiperspirant - it has a click lock closing. There are two bits sticking out of the roll-on just where the rolling ball is connected to the rest of the product. When you put the lid on and twist it will get hooked on the sticking bits. It sounds a bit complicated and even Garnier attached a picture on the back of how to close this product, but once you get used to it, it's very easy.
The inside of the lid is green as is the inside of all of the other variants, and the outside part of the lid is purple (other variants of this antiperspirant have different colours of the outside part of the lid).
The capacity of this product is 50ml and it can be used for 12 months after opening.
----- The smell -----
What I like most about this antiperspirant is it's its lovely fragrance. It isn't overpowering and is quite distinct and long-lasting but at the same time delicate, flowery and fresh. I can smell it for the whole day after applying to the underarms and sometimes don't even use perfume as I prefer the light smell of this product. If you do use perfume then these might clash a little, so you'll need to consider this before buying.
----- My experience (properties and other disappointing facts) -----
I was glad to read that this product didn't contain alcohol nor parabens. I try to avoid nasty chemicals in the products I use. I also noticed recently that my usual antiperspirant dries out the skin under my arms. This product is very delicate, not drying and not irritating the skin. It dries quickly after application.
Unfortunately as far as the properties go, it doesn't fare very well. I find that my underarms are sweaty after a few hours and that it leaves white marks on the skin. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that, during application, the plastic bits near the rolling ball that allow the lid to close, scratch my skin which is unpleasant and certainly defeats the purpose for a product that it not supposed to irritate the skin.
Finally, I keep finding that the rolling ball gets stuck as the liquid on the ball dries up, and I have to use my fingers to get it rolling again. I currently use the antiperspirant once a day after the morning shower and every single time I go back to use it the next day I find the rolling ball dry and stuck again.
There is a label on the back of the roll-on that provides information about the capacity of this product and says in various languages that it will provide 48h protection. This label is stuck onto another label and after peeling the outside label off, I started reading the ingredients list. What was my surprise, when clearly it stated that various alcohols where used in the manufacture of this product. I feel shocked and deceived.
Here goes the list:
Aqua (water), aluminium chlorohydrate, PPG-15 stearyl ether, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-33, parfum (fragrance), perlite (mineralite), phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, benzyl alcohol, methylisothiazolinone, hexyl cinnamal.
----- Summary -----
* No parabens
* Doesn't dry out the skin
* Nice fragrance
* Claims to be alcohol free but there is clearly alcohol in the list of ingredients!
* Doesn't protect against sweating
* Scratches the skin during application
* The ball gets stuck due to antiperspirant drying out
* Packaging feels big and bulky
----- Conclusion -----
This antiperspirant is absolutely rubbish. I never expected it to work for 48 hours. I take a shower much more often than this. However, I hoped that it would keep my underarms dry at least for the day at work. Unfortunately, it doesn't even do that. Yes, it was cheap on offer but at the regular price I could find a much better deodorant. The packaging is weird and bulky, the bits that stick out of it scratch my skin and the rolling ball keeps getting stuck. In addition, the claims about being alcohol free are clearly not correct. The only good thing about this product is that it is paraben free, delicate and has a nice fragrance. I am afraid this is not enough. Not recommended.
Garnier has always been a brand that I can trust, I love their shampoos and conditioners and now I love this.
I love this roll on, stick it in my bag on a night out and off I go. It generally just fits in the corner of my bag which is great. The bottle is very comfortable to hold and grip and angle for those underarms. None of this awkwardly shaped dome bottles that they have brought out which I find to be a bit awkward.
It smells amazing. I have very sensitive skin so anything thats too harsh on my underarms and I'm itching like mad but I am pleased to report this isn't one of them. I have even used this straight after shaving my underarms and not even a sting or a red mark!
The other good thing is that it doesnt stain. I have had a few roll ons that after drying have left white marks behind them but this isn't one of them!
I would definatly reccomend this product, smells lush, great sized bottle. Defiantly worth the money!
Review of Garnier Mineral Ultra Dry Roll-On for Women
Packaging, usage and scent.
I am reviewing Garnier's Mineral Ultra Dry Roll-On for Women. I tend to stock up on basics such as antiperspirants, shampoos and other toiletries when I see a special offer or Buy One Get One Free deal. Subsequently, this was purchased some time ago as one of my bargain buys and I have only got round to using it fairly recently.
There are six varieties in the range, Ultra, the subject of this review, Invisible, Fresh, Silky, Extra care and Sensitive. Although this review is about the roll-on, there is also a spray version of the antiperspirant available.
The antiperspirant deodorant is in a roll on type applicator. It is a funky, modern looking roll on with a curvy, hourglass shape. The packaging is made from non-recyclable plastic. It is white in colour with a green and purple cap which doubles as the base for the product. The cap colour is different for each of the versions of the deodorant. The roll-on contains 50ml and it should be used within 12 months of opening.
The antiperspirant's roller ball is large and rolls freely, allowing the product to be applied to the under-arm area smoothly. As the cap has a click closure, you know that it has been properly closed after use. I have had no problems with the roller drying out as has occurred with other brands.
The antiperspirant dries quite quickly on the skin, leaving no stickiness. I particularly appreciate this in a roll on deodorant as I find there is nothing worse than waiting around for your armpits to dry before getting dressed! I have had no problems with this product leaving white marks on my clothing either, another plus in my opinion.
The antiperspirant has a slightly odd scent, not unpleasant in anyway, but a little unusual. At first it smells almost fruity, a citrus-like scent. The packaging tells me that the product is made with mandarin, orange and cedar wood, which explains the citrus top notes. The initial fragrance rapidly fades to a fairly strong scent with musky undertones, which seems to develop as the day goes on. The fragrance is long lasting, I can still detect it, albeit faintly, in the evening after using the antiperspirant first thing in the morning.
I have to say, I wouldn't want to use this antiperspirant if I was intending to use a perfume or scented body lotion, as it would be likely to clash with other fragrances.
**Ingredients and Company Information**
According to the label information, Garnier Mineral Deodorant Roll On Ultra is made with Mineralite (Perlite), a naturally absorbent mineral of volcanic origin. It lets skin breathe and is quick-dry and soft to the touch. Mineralite is capable of naturally absorbing immediately and continuously. This remarkable absorption capacity is due to its porous structure, which enables it to capture and evaporate moisture. Garnier say that this product was especially designed for 48hr protection even under extreme conditions such as heat, stress and sports.
Garnier state that the Mineral Deodorant is dermatologically tested and contains no parabens and no alcohol. On using a magnifying glass to read the minuscule text of the ingredient list, I was somewhat concerned to find that there are indeed alcohol sounding ingredients in the product. I am not a chemist or very well up on this sort of thing, but as far as I am concerned, alcohol is alcohol!
I do not usually copy an ingredients list into a review as I think it smacks of 'padding', but on this occasion I am going to!
Ingredients as listed on the packaging are:-
Aqua (water), aluminium chlorohydrate, PPG-15 Stearns ether, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-33, parfum (fragrance), perlite (mineralite), phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, benzyl alcohol, methylisothiazolinone, hexyl cinnamal.

More information about Garnier and their products can be found on their website:- www.garnier.co.uk
From ** to ** This information was sourced from the Garnier website.
**Availability and Price**
As mentioned I bought my deodorant as part of a special offer, I believe it was from Boots and was probably a BOGOF deal.
The Garnier deodorant range is widely available from supermarkets, Hight Street chains and chemists. Boots are currently stocking it at £1.83, Sainsbury's at £1.89 and Tesco for a few pennies more at £1.93.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
Garnier Mineral Ultra Dry Roll-On for Women is a very good antiperspirant. I have found it keeps me dry and fresh all day long with no need to re-apply. The fragrance of this product is as previously mentioned a little odd, in that it seems to change and mature as the day progresses. I do like the scent and am perfectly happy to smell of the deodorant!
As an everyday antiperspirant, this is ideal, it keeps me dry and comfortable. The product leaves my skin feeling smooth and unlike a few other brands does not seem drying to the skin. No white marks, no stickiness and no skin irritation, all make it a decent buy in my opinion.
I do not perspire heavily, but the manufacturer claims this product is suitable for keeping you fresh and dry even in extreme conditions, for up to 48 hours after application. I cannot honestly say that I have gone without washing or applying any deodorant for 48 hours, so cannot confirm this claim!
I would recommend this antiperspirant to others, in spite of my confusion regarding the alcohol content. It is a little more expensive than some similar products on the market, but it is worth shopping around for special offers.
Thank you for reading.
