A deo change
I have been a very loyal customer of Sure Crystal deodorants for years now, but I felt like a change and wanted to go for a roll-on instead of my usual aerosol sprays. This was just £1 in Asda while I was doing an online shop so I decided to check it out. It's alcohol and paraben free, and promises to work for 48 hours, and doesn't leave white marks.
Easy on the eye
In terms of packaging it is your average roll-on. It stands on its lid, and it's very easy to open with a simple twist. It is white and green in colour so it's pretty simple and the packaging is more functional than anything!
Inside the roller ball is quite large, and I found this easy to apply, and the product comes out easily and in the right quantity. It has a nice, fresh fragrance that is the kind of scent I am sure most people would like, or at least not be offended by! It is a light scent that is a sort of 'clean cotton' fragrance, and although this is marketed at women I think it would work for men too.
This does take a little while to dry, and I have to remember to apply this before I get dressed so it dries in time! As I'm used to using an aerosol that dries instantly, this is something I don't always remember. But once it's dry, it stays dry - and I have to say I've been really impressed with this deodorant. As promised, it leaves no white marks. But, even more importantly, it keeps me feeling fresh and dry all day. In fact I can't fault this product at all as it works really very effectively. So much so that I've started using this in favour of my usual Sure Crystal pretty much every day, and have stocked up while it's still on offer.
In summary ...
Overall I highly recommend this deodorant. I have had no problems with it whatsoever, and it definitely keeps me dry and odour-free all day! It usually costs around the £2 mark but I picked it up for £1 which I have to say is a great price for a product that works so well. A definite five stars from me.
I always keep an "emergency" deodorant in my desk draw just in case I forget to put it on one morning or end up getting extra sweaty from running around between buildings. My last one ran out so I went to Boots opposite my office and saw Garnier "mineral" which looked like a good size for my desk draw plus it was on special office, I think for about £1.80.
It smells really nice of a clean, fresh floral scent which I can smell on my clothes after wearing them. It is a very slightly pink semi-translucent thick liquid which comes out when you roll it across your armpits and the roller dispenses the deodorant easily and evenly. The bottle is a slightly unusual shape in that the upper part is quite flat and thin, which the lower part, including the lid and roller ball being more bulbous. The deodorant stands upside down as it were, so the liquid is at the bottom above the roller ball, which is handy as you don't need to shake it if you have kept the bottle upright.
It's supposed to be a 48 hour intensive deodorant, I cannot comment on this, but it certainly lasts a full day and stops me getting sweaty or smelly! It's also alcohol and paraben free and must be ok for sensitive skin as I have used a number of deodorants in the past which have either dried out my underarms or made them itchy. This hasn't upset my skin at all.
I would definitely buy this again, especially if it is on offer. At full price it seems to be around £2.40 in Boots.
I am not too fussy about the brand of deodorant that I buy as I don't have sensitive skin and I don't suufer from excessive sweating. I do work outside part of the time, so in warm weather, or if I am doing heavy digging, I prefer a product that is both an anti perspirant and a deodorant. In other words I look for something that will prevent damp patches on my clothes as well as prevent odour. I chose to try Garnier's Mineral Fresh Intense Freshness roll on because it seemed to be a quite natural formula, as it does not contain parabens or alcohol. The other reason for my choice was that the 50ml roll on was available for £1 in Savers which seemed a reasonable price. It is currently available for 99p in Superdrug, with the regular selling price there being £2.09.
On the front of the bottle, it says just "anti perspirant" but a quick look on the Garnier U.K website assured me that this product is also a deodorant. It is, according to them, the worlds first such 48 hour product to be "enriched with revolutionary Mineralite", a mineral of "volcanic origin". I must say I smiled when I read the note that Mineralite is in fact perlite, a material well known to gardeners who cover the surface of seed trays with it to prevent moisture evaporation amongst other things. I suspect Garnier thought Mineralite sounds a bit more "revolutionary". I don't mind what they call it if it does a good job! [It's purpose is apparently to absorb the perspiration.] The company claim the product will provide an all day long feeling of freshness, and that it will provide 48 hours worth of protection against sweat and odour. Lastly, it is supposed to allow skin to breathe.
The Fresh formula that I chose is just one of several within the Garnier Mineral range. Others offer white mark protection, or extra levels of dryness for example. They also have different scents but I really like the aroma of the one I have tried. It is citrusy, which I feel is always such a pleasant scent for a deodorant. It always makes me feel fresh when I apply it in the morning, just from catching a whiff of it. It isn't overpowering, and I think it strikes a good balance between being obviously there, and not being intrusive if you wish to wear other scents. I can't smell it when I move around, but traces are clearly there when I wash at the end of the day.
The deodorant bottle is rather flat in shape which makes it easy to hold, even with wet hands. Not a make or break point for me, but useful anyway. The lid has a flat top, so you can stand it on that so the doedorant flows to the tip and remains always ready to use. This doesn''t mean the roll on stays too wet when you come to use it. It applies just the right amount to your under ams. I feel the area is well covered but it dries very quickly - within a couple of minutes. This makes it handy to use in a hurry, and I do not think I have ever suffered a white mark or other stain caused by dressing too quickly after using it. It does not claim specifically to gurard against these stains, although other products in the Mineral Fresh Range do, which makes this more impressive. The roller applicator itself runs smoothly, so it does not drag on the skin or feel at all uncomfortable. It is a little wider than usual which also helps to make using the deodorant quick.
I have found it to work well as a deodorant because I have been using it for 3 weeks daily and I have never detected any unpleasant odours. I have used it on days that I have been doing physical work outside, such as carting sacks of compost up a steep hillside which believe me makes you warm even on a otherwise cold day. The deodorant aspect has not let me down tthen, and I do not feel at all sticky or damp under my arms afterwards. However, a small damp patch has been obvious on my under top on a few of those busy occasions, even though I felt comfortable and was not aware of it being there. This means I would reserve judgement on how well the roll on would work in hot weather if you were similarly active. For everyday porposes, and when I am working at my desk based job, I have had no trouble with dampness. I can't judge whether the protection would last 48 hours because I never go that long without showering. In my experince it lasts, with the above exceptions, for at least 12 hours which is long enough for me and most people I suspect.
I have not had any problems with the product causing stinging/irritation but I don't have sensitive skin. I don't apply a deodorant after shaving so I can't tell you how it fairs in those circumstances either. In general, my skin in exactly the same after using it as before but this isn't a product that claims to pretty your arm pits!
I would recommend the roll on, because it provides me with excellent deodorant properties. The anti perspirant element let me down on the odd occasion, but not badly, and I think it would be fine if I had not been rushing up and down hills with heavy loads in my wheelbarow! The price is good, and the scent does seem to add a particular fresh element to the product. I would note that although the product is free of parabens and alcohol, it does list aluminum chlorohydrate amongst the ingredients, which many people prefer to avoid. [See below] It is available in the poundshops, for £1.49 in my local cornershop and on Amazon, and a little more elsewhere. Incidently, a review bought from Amazon.com to the British site suggest the roll on is aluminum free, but it is not according to the label on my bottle. Perhaps the U.S formula is different.
[This review is also on Ciao under my user name.]
Recently I have been turning more and more towards roll on deodorants as opposed to spray ons. This is because they are just so much easier and never make a mess. In the past I have had bad experiences of white marks and black tops, and to say the least I was extremely fed up of using spray on deodorants. I have no particular preference when it comes to a brand or scent of deodorant, because to be frank as long as it does the job I am not one to particularly moan, as this is an everyday essential.
When doing a supermarket shop, I tend to just grab deodorant as and when I need it, so I am not particularly fussed about the pricing of it, so long as it is nothing too high. This Garnier Minerals Fresh Roll On was £2 which I would say is around average for a deodorant, but I do feel that roll on deodorants last much longer than spray ones, so I would say that it is a very reasonable price for such a good brand, and it is likely that you would be able to find it cheaper if you shop around in stores.
It comes as shown in the image, however the colouring and style of it has changed ever so slightly, and my one is an all over lime green shade in colour. It is very handy how it is upside down, and this allows all of the liquid to run down the bottom, meaning that the roll on is always wet and ready for use making it more more convenient than the stand alone ones, as sometimes you have to roll them around loads before they start becoming wet. To remove the lid, you simply twist one click and it is open, and it is really simply to open and close and is also extremely secure so the liquid does not run out.
The main thing which sold me for this product is that it claims to last 48 hours. Obviously, these statements never actually appear to be true, but as I am often busy in the day, I can end up getting a little flustered, and I do not want to be smelly, therefore I am constantly topping up on deodorant in the day just in case. 48 hour protection would mean I would not have this worry, so I thought I would see if this little deodorant could do the trick.
When applying the deodorant, it is extremely smooth and is done in a matter of seconds. The deodorant is very kind to skin, even if you have just freshly shaved your armpits, and as there is no added alcohol, this is perfect for those with even the most sensitive of armpits. I feel that this has a really lovely scent which smells really fresh, but not too overpowering that it is entirely noticeable. It has a floral yet fresh smell, containing a hint of peach, bergamot, floral powder and cedar, therefore making it nice and girly.
I have to say, I really do love this deodorant as it made me feel so much fresher under my arms near enough instantly! I have to admit that it does not meet its 48 hour claim which is no surprise, however it does definitely last throughout the whole day and night so you do not have to worry about smelling and you also receive that added reassurance. I would say the best effect I have had from this was around 40 odd hours worth which is still extremely good and much better than previous deodorants which I have dabbled with in the past.
Needless to say, I will definitely be repurchasing this as it has slowly becoming my holy grail of roll on deodorants. Would have to recommend this to all you ladies for a peace of mind throughout the day knowing you are fresh and just for the pure convenience of it. Could not fault this product at all, brilliant delivery from Garnier! Thanks for reading.
I'm generally not fussed on what brand of deodorant I use - in fact, the majority of the time I use Sainsburys Basics roll on, which costs me around 30p a time . However, with the weather warming up, I have started wearing clothes that are much more feminine and reveal a little more skin . With my armpits now being on show, I've become aware of the fact that my normal deodorant does leave my armpits looking a little dry and powdery.
Now, I know that nobody looks at a girl and exclaims over what lovely armpits they have - but I know that I would be self conscious about it, so decided to try something different, and came across the Garnier Mineralite Invisible in my local Boots.
Initially, my eye was drawn by the fresh colours of the packaging, which was mainly white with mixed shades of fresh vibrant green . And lets face it, the thing I want most from my deodorant is freshness . I assumed that the invisible claim, which usually indicates that a deodorant will not leave white marks on darker clothing would also prevent it from leaving powdery white residue in my armpits after application . It wasn't too expensive, perhaps around £1.79, so I decided to give it a try.
Applying it is the same as any other roll on . It felt cool on my skin, although I did notice that my armpits felt a little sticky initially, and that this did seem to take longer to dry than my usual brand. I also found it had a slight floral scent, which actually did put me off a little - I much prefer a deodorant with no scent that won't interfere with my perfume . The scent is light though, and perfectly inoffensive.
This deodorant didn't leave any white marks on my clothes - but then I actually never seem to have that problem, I suspect because I apply deodorant a fair while before actually getting dressed. For the sake of experiment, I did deliberately roll some onto a black shirt, and found that actually it didn't leave any marks.
I found this kept me fresh and dry all day - it does claim to last for 48hrs, but I never usually go without a bath that long . However, I do spend a lot of my time at work in front of a roasting hot oven , and it can be quyite a sweaty environment, so I am impressed with it's performance.
My armpits still looked dry and had that powdery residue though, (this is no fault of the deodorant, it doesn't make any claims to moisturise the armpits or anything like that) so although this deodorant performs well, the quest for underarm perfection continues!
4 stars - does the job, just not too keen on the slight floral smell .
Until I spotted this deodorant on the shelves a couple of months ago, I had no idea Garnier had added deodorants to their list of products. I have always associated Garnier with hair care products, which I have tried in the past but have never got on well with. Indeed Garnier's hair products have never seemed suitable for my needs and I have always ended up fairly disappointed when I have tried their shampoo, conditioner and hair dye in the past.
Therefore I wasn't sure if it was worth actually trying this Garnier Mineral roll on deodorant, based on my previous experiences using their products, but I cannot resist a bargain and was duly swayed by the promotional price of just 99p. If it proved to be not very good, then it wouldn't matter all that much having only spent less than a pound.
The fact it was only 99p, is the only reason I bought this deodorant to try, as I am perfectly happy using my favourite deodorant by Dove. However, the difference in price between the two products was enough to convince me to try something new.
Garnier state that this Mineral Deodorant, offers 48hr non-stop protection against sweat and odour, which is a pretty impressive statement.
This mineral deodorant is Garnier's first 48hr anti-perspirant with Mineralite, which is a naturally absorbent mineral of volcanic origin. It lets skin breathe and is quick-dry and soft to the touch and offers double action protection by blocking sweat and odour.
Mineralite is of volcanic origin and is capable of naturally absorbing immediately and continuously. Its rapid absorption is due to its porous structure, which enables it to capture and evaporate moisture.
The roll on's packaging is quite attractive, with its bold green and white colours and curvy bottle shape ensuring it stands out amongst other brands on the shelves.
It is also useful to know that the product contains no alcohol or parabens, which is a bonus for those who actively seek paraben free products.
Specially designed for 48hr protection even under extreme conditions such as heat, stress and sports, I was quite impressed by Garnier's claims and was quite keen to try this deodorant. Whilst I don't do any sports, I do of course want a deodorant that will keep me dry and fresh all day, particularly whilst at work and in the warmer weather and not all deodorants manage to do this in my experience.
I was particularly impressed by the fragrance of this roll on, which I would describe as a fresh fragrance, which aptly fits its mineral name. I recently bought a Sanex deodorant and absolutely hated the sickly floral fragrance so much I couldn't bear to use it, so the fragrance is important to me.
I also don't have a preference when it comes to using roll on deodorants or aerosols and regularly use both, so buying a roll on wasn't a problem for me. However, if you prefer only to use an aerosol then it is good to know that this is also available in aerosol form.
Having used this deodorant for a few weeks now, I have nothing but good things to say about it. I like the fragrance and it keeps me feeling fresh and dry all day. I haven't tried leaving it for 48 hours as I shower every morning and apply fresh deodorant, so I have no idea whether it goes the distance, but I am very impressed with my experiences so far.
After applying it on a morning, I have no need to re-apply throughout the day. I have found with some deodorants I have used, that I have needed to re-apply as they haven't kept me feeling dry and fresh for long, but this certainly does the job for me.
I am so impressed with Garnier Minerals deodorant, that I will continue to purchase it, as it is just as good as Dove and leaves my underarms feeling soft as well as fresh and dry.
It works much better for me than Garnier's other products, so if like me, you haven't found their other products to be suitable for your needs, then give Garnier Minerals deodorant a try and you may be as pleasantly surprised as I have been!
I have been having a bit of a wobble between deodorant brands recently having had one or two disappointments. I noticed this for the first time during a recent trip to Tesco and, guess what, it was on offer, so I popped one in my trolley and kept my fingers crossed.
The first thing that struck me about this was the slightly odd shape of the bottle. As you can see from the image, the bottle is very wide when viewed from the front. Side on, however, it is very narrow, much skinnier than I expected, and my immediate reaction was that it must contain less product than other roll-ons. Maybe it was my suspicious mind but I felt that the shape of the bottle was trying to deceive me! On comparison with other products I found that this was not the case at all, Garnier Minerals Roll-on contains 50ml which was the same as pretty much all comparable products. When I came to use the product I actually found that the shape of the bottle made it very easy to hold - not being at my most co-ordinated first thing in the morning I think the fact that I have never dropped the bottle speaks volumes to me!
Apart from being impressed with the practical design, I was also really pleased to note that this product didn't have a heavily perfumed odour. I find the smell of many deodorants quite sickly and overpowering. This didn't really smell of anything that I can pinpoint but, true to its name, I would describe the subtle smell it did have as 'fresh'. It was easy to apply and dried relatively quickly, although not super quick. I usually apply it straight after showering, then potter round with face cream, moisturiser and various other primping and preening exercises, by which point the product is nearly always dry enough to get dressed, unless I have been a bit over zealous with the application in which case the tried and tested chicken-style arm flapping is sometimes required!
But of course the crunch is, does it work? For me the answer is yes, definitely. I walk to work every day which takes around 45 minutes and, even in this ridiculous muggy/rainy is-it-hot-or-cold weather, which I inevitably misjudge and end up wrapped up as though it were mid-winter, this deodorant has not once let me down. I am so pleased with it and will definitely continue to buy.
A quick check of the Tesco website shows that is still currently half price but usually retails there at £1.89, so a little more expensive than some of its competitors but, for me, the peace of mind is worth the extra few pennies.
I like to change my brand of deodorant every so often so when I was shopping in Boots I noticed a buy 1 get 1 free offer on Garnier Minerals Intense Freshness 48hr roll-on deodorant. I didn't realsie that Garnier had branched out into this market as I always associate the Garnier brand with haircare. I decided to give it a go and hope for the best so I paid £1.79 for two roll-on style deodorants. I believe you can also buy this deodrant as an anti-perspirant for around £1.99.
The bottle is quite eyecatching with it's green lid and the packaging states that this deodorant will last 48hrs and should leave no white marks. Well I know this is a review but I wasn't prepared to go 48hrs without a wash so I can only give you review on the lasting effects of around an 8/9hr day at work. I have to also mention the fact that I don't have a very active job it's just me sat at my desk for give or take 7 hrs. The deodorant has a twist lid that is very easily opened and once removed you see that the deodorant is the same as an average roll-on and it is a 50ml bottle.
So how did it stand up, well first of all I was worried about the application as usually roll-on deodorants can leave my underarms very sticky. Which is not good. However I found myself actually pleasantly surprised, don't get me wrong there is some initial stickyness but it did fade and I was left with fairly dry underarms. The smell is quite strong but not overly pungent it has a flowery scent which is actually quite nice. To test the theory of no white marks I decided to wear a black top to work and then check later to see if the claim was true. So after travelling to work I thought I would see what the effect of the roll on had on my black vest top. There was nothing no marks or anything, so I could breathe a sigh of relief and was pleased that the deodrant was so far living up to it's claims.
So did the scent remain, well after a few hours I could still smell the same flowery scent that had been there when I originally applied it, so far so good. When I got home I had almost forgotten about the new deodorant but was relieved to find that my underarms were still smelling pretty fresh. So this product gets a thumbs up from me.
I found this product really good and was very happy that it lasted a full working day without losing it's effectiveness. The price is very reasonable especially as I got two bottles for the price of £1.79. I would recommend this deodorant and would definitely buy it again.
I do have to point out that whilst this roll-on maybe perfect for me if you have an active job or for use at the gym then who knows if this deodorant will remain as effective. However for an average office work day I found it to be fine and even after I take a brisk 15 minute walk at lunch time it is still ok.
A fresh and energizing deodorant / An exclusive, intensely fresh fragrance that leaves you feeling energised and confident throughout the day / 48hr protection against sweat and odour.
