      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Ever since I couldn't get hold of my favourite Natrel Plus Fresh Gel Deodorant, I have been trying to find a suitable replacement. I am now using Gillette Clear Gel - The Cool Wave Fragrance; produced (obviously!) by Gillette! ~~~WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. The Gel is clear and comes in a clear plastic container with a silver coloured base and lid. There is a blue label on the front, with the Company logo and product name on it. The label on the back panel is clear and gives the usual information - such as ingredients, instructions, warning and Company contact details. The pack contains 75ml of deodorant. ~~~HOW TO USE. If you haven't used a gel anti-perspirant before you will quite it quite a bit different from a spray or roll on...if you have used a cream one the principle is similar. You twist the "dial" on the bottom to push the gel out to use it. When you first take off the lid you will find a silver strip that protects the gel and shows that it hasn't been opened or tampered with. Remove this and you're in business! You may have to do a few twists initially before the gel starts to show, but after that two to three twists per armpit is sufficient. ~~~HOW MUCH & WHERE FROM. Mine cost me £1.99 from my local Bodycare (it was the same price in our other "cheap" shops). I couldn't find it for sale in Superdrug, but you can get it Boots. ~~~WHAT I THOUGHT. ***THE GOOD*** I was a bit worried that the fragrance would be too masculine because the Gillette Series is marketed as a men's grooming range. I needed have worried because the scent is fresh, cool and a nice change from some of the sweeter or floral fragrances available. I rather liked it and didn't think that I smelt like a bloke! I asked my husband and he said I smelt "alright" - that is a big complement! It passes the "shaving test" too - I used it
after shaving and didn't experience any stinging and it didn't feel uncomfortable. It also survived a busy day in the Library - some anti-perspirants don't last a morning in the hot and sticky Children's Library. With this one, I still felt fresh, was free from "damp" underarms and was ready for an afternoon of trolley pushing, book shelving and smiling at the public! The gel is a nice consistency too; it isn't runny and dries quite quickly after applying. It doesn't leave any sticky marks on your clothes and doesn't leave any powdery residue like some sprays would. The pack is easy and convenient to operate and the clear container means that you always know how much is left! The cap fits on securely and, because it is a gel, there isn't anything to leak out. ***THE BAD*** My big problem is that I couldn't apply it without getting some gel on the side of the container - I advise you to have a tissue handy. The residue comes off easily, but if you leave it the container is quite sticky and a bit slimy the next time you come to use it! My only other real downside is that it cost me more than my Natrel Plus, but at £1.99 it doesn't cost the earth and it does last for a long time. I bought mine two weeks ago and I still have around two thirds remaining - not bad! I could quibble and say that it would be nice to have a similar Gillette product aimed at the female end of the market...but the scent is good, so I'll let that one pass! ~~~CONCLUSION. All in all, a creditable replacement for my beloved (and now defunct!) Natrel Plus Gel! The smell is pleasant and refreshing, it's easy to use, it works (very important that one) and it is small enough to carry in your bag! I recommend that you give this one a try - alternatively you can nick it off your husband or partner! For details of Gillette products and contact information go to:

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Gillette have always given me good underarm protection, so when I found out there was something better, I jumped at it! I wasn't disappointed. This stylish little tube contains what I beleive is the best anti-perspirant on the market. Not only does it provide a pleasingly subtle smell, it also stops sweat patches. It dries clear, leaving no white marks, and it stays with you for the whole day, which is a miracle for me - usually I have to reapply half-way through the day. There is also no wasteage, because you just wind up what you need. To add to the advantages, it is also in the middle of the price market, so its not too expensive for a student like myself. What else can I say, maybe this is the best the man can get, until they make a better one!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Being a young, hip dude I've always been quite concerned with the subject of Bodge (Body Odour). At this point I would like to point out that I DO NOT HAVE BODGE!!! It's one of those things that no one but your closest (no pun intended) friends will tell you that you have and anyone else won't come within a 10ft radius. Because of the fact that I only need to shave once (maybe twice if there's a holiday) per week I can choose my fragrances purely on the merits of their sassy bottles and pleasing aromas, but I do insist on some practicality if I'm going to use an anti persperant. If I'm going to clog my body's pores it damn well better work. I have, on occasion, received comments on the difficulty I have maintaining (or getting) a sun tan and as such I tend to wear light colours - the Marilyn Manson look never worked for me. The only down side to this is the tendency for the golf balls to appear in the pit region and so I resorted to trying Gillette Clear Stick Anti-Persperant Deodorant. I was quite surprised that despite its gooey nature it didn't stick my arms to my torso and it also adequately satisfied the nasal test. Unfortunately, as the day went on, while the pleasant and even pleasing aroma continued, the anti-persperant action of this particular anti-persperant failed leaving me to wear a jacket in an air-conditioned office. The words "thumb" and "sore" spring to mind! I don't believe that this was the desired effect and think that I will revert to my usual brand that I use when doing more vigorous activity. The best a man can get ? I don?t think so!
