Impulse 02 Body Spray
Advantages: See review...
Disadvantages: Not a pleasant fragrance...
I do like to use body sprays from time to time, depending on the occasion, as I find that heavier fragrances and perfumes are just a little too much for me at times. I prefer to use body sprays and things during the daytime, and usually choose to spray my chosen perfume at night time when I am heading out to a pub or restaurant for a nice meal.
With this in mind, I was looking for a fragranced body spray that was not overly scented, or 'too much/too heavy' for daytime use. After sniffing a few of the sprays that were on offer in my local Tesco supermarket and not really finding anything that fitted into this criteria, I abandoned my search until a few days later, when I was in my local 'Savers' discounted drug store.
In this store, there was a wide variety of body sprays available, and I set about giving them the 'sniff test' to see what appealed to me. The range of 'Impulse' body sprays was the range with the most to offer in my opinion, so I decided to buy a couple of the sprays from this particular range.
One which appealed to me was the 'Impulse 02' spray. I couldn't really smell it properly in the shop as I had a bit of a cold on this particular day and my nose was rather blocked up! That said, I am generally always impressed with any sprays that I purchase from the Impulse range of body sprays so I decided that the faint whiff of slightly floral-based, sweet scent that I could detect from the spray was quite nice, and with that my purchase was duly made!
The green-coloured canister of Impulse 02 body spray cost me £1.75 for the full-sized canister which is 75 ml in size. It is worth noting that several of the Impulse sprays are released in a 'travel size' canister from time to time, which is generally 35 ml in size, and I do find these little miniature sprays are very convenient and handy for travelling, or just for popping in your handbag to reapply or 'freshen up' on a night out.
The 02 body spray was supplied in a very attractive- looking can. The pale green coloured metal canister had an identical coloured plastic lid, and on the front of the canister, just beside the product brand name was a fairly modern looking green design. All in all I thought that the packaging was quite pretty looking and had a very feminine look to it.
The scent of the body spray was quite disappointing. If I had been able to smell the fragranced body spray properly on the day that I purchased it, I do really doubt that I would have bought it. It is really not to my own taste at all, and I find it to be a bit on the over-powering side! I find that even a small amount of the scent sprayed on my skin seems to be over-bearing.
The scent can only be described as being very floral. Not in a subtle, under-tone kind of way either, but in a sickly and over-bearing way! I find that the scent is one of those ones that catches in my throat a little and I have actually ended up with a headache on more than one occasion after spraying this body spray. Needless to say I have now abandoned the whole canister altogether, and would most certainly not buy it again.
The fragrance reminds me of my grandmother's house, and I'm pretty sure she would personally love this scent, so perhaps that will give you an indication of what we are dealing with here! I did not find that the scent was at all modern or 'young' and I personally would have thought it wouldn't be a body spray that you would buy for your teenage daughter or sister!
On the plus side, it is worth mentioning that I didn't suffer any bad reactions when using this spray in terms of my sensitive skin or my eczema, so it is worth noting that this Impulse spray is quite kind to your skin.
I can only award this Impulse body spray one measly star, and I cannot recommend it too highly. There are much, much nicer fragranced body sprays available from the range of Impulse sprays that I would recommend much higher than this one.
There is a whole range of Impulse body sprays that are readily available from all good supermarkets (Tesco and Asda both stock them), Boots, Superdrug and other good chemists and drugstores. The average price for a 75ml Impulse body spray is around the £1.50 - £2 mark. Alternatively, some of the Impulse body sprays can be purchased online from www.chemistdirect.co.uk.
Summary: Give this one a miss...!
