In my bathroom cabinet I have a range of body sprays to pick from each morning which tend to come from two brands - Boots Natural Collection and Impulse. Both of these ranges smell great, and are affordable and good quality. Of the two I tend to buy more of the Impulse range as there is such a wide range of scents and they last on your skin for hours.
Impulse was founded in 1972 in South Africa initially and was then brought to the UK in 1979 by Elida Gibbs. It was tagged with the by-line 'Men can't help acting on impulse", with new fragrances being added regularly.
It was only in 2009 that the whole brand was re-vamped to make it more contemporary, into the packaging we now all know and love. They are now the UK's number one in the women's body spray market. Their revised mission statement was to offer consumers delicate everyday sections and have been launching a new fragrance every year meaning the range is constantly updated and kept up to day. In 2009 Ann Gottlieb a fragrance designer created the Impulse Goddess as part of their rebranding scheme and it is a truly beautiful fragrance.
The Impulse Goddess brings together exotic oriental flowers including Jasmine, and Gardenia. It then combines these with Citrus and Pear to pack a punch when you apply. The oriental flowers are the strongest and create a truly beautiful perfume that is floral but not heavy. When you initially spray it is strong and remain so for an hour or so, then lightens to a lovely fresh fragrance that lasts most of the day.
It is sold in one of Impulses standard sized aerosol cans which hold 75 ml. The Impulse cans are tall and slim. The top turns around to reveal the spray nozzle which you depress to apply. These 75ml cans are priced at around £1.99 each, but it tend to but them when they are on offer, normally either 99p each of 2 for £2 which makes them much better value.
The spray nozzle allows a wide diffusion of the body spray and works not only when the can is upright but when angled allowing easy application. The 75 ml can last me around 2 weeks when used once/twice daily. I often carry a can in my handbag as well to allow me to freshen up if I need to and as the cans are so slim they easily fit without taking up any room.
Whenever I have time when I am shopping in places such as Boots or Superdrug, I like to have a browse through the different body sprays. I like to smell good and I always like to make sure that I have put on a scent before I go out. However, we all know how expensive fragrances can be and so sometimes I just wear a cheaper body spray such as Impulse. One of the latest ones I tried was this Impulse Goddess Body Spray.
The perfume comes in a spray tan where you have to press the top to squirt out the spray. What I like about these cans is that they have a 'twisty top' so that you can twist the top round so that it won't spray when you don't want it to. The can is quite slim which is great as it means that it fits easily in your handbag without taking up too much room.
When I first put the scent on, it smells very strongly, however it seems that like the rest of the Impulse body sprays, it fades after an hour or so, and so I tend to keep on reapplying it throughout the day. One thing that annoys me about the can, is that they don't last very long. I can easily get through a can in a few days even though I don't really use that much.
The scent is quite citrusy. At first I thought that the spray may be a little too overpowering, although after a couple of minutes it seems to fade and isn't so in your face. I had worried when I first sprayed it that it would be the kind of scent which would get on people's nerves, however once it calms down it's a nice scent.
I like this scent because it is clean and fresh and makes me feel really girlie and feminine. I like wearing this scent as it makes me feel confident. I have also received lots of compliments on how good I smell too when I wear this. Even though I like wearing this perfume, it doesn't give me that 'man I feel confident' feeling that I get when I wear my more expensive fragrances. However, it is perfect for day time and isn't overpowering. It is quite sweet and florally, although it is not 'in your face' kind of sweet.
Whilst I always think that Impulse appears to be a young brand, I know lots of older (in their 30's and 40's etc) who also use this spray and so I would therefore say that this spray is suitable for all ages.
You can buy Impulse True Love (as well as the rest of the Impulse range) from places such as Boots, Superdrugs and supermarkets. They tend to retail at around £2 which I do think is quite expensive - although they are nice perfumes. However, they are regularly on offer - usually for less than a pound and so I tend to stock up whenever I see them on offer.
All in all, I would definitely recommend Impulse Goddess.
Thanks for reading!

the colour of the product is really uplifting. I found that using this product gave me a bit of an energy boost because of its brightness. The smell is gorgeous and i would describe it as a light feminine independence.
as with all body sprays, they're only a good substation if you really have the money in your budget to be extravagant. If you really think about it the price is expensive, as the sprays do run out quite fast. Only spraying a little does not give you the same effect as a perfume. You're probably going to have to buy one a week, and so you may as well buy a good perfume that will last half a year. if you rack up a weekly body spray bill it'll break even with a perfume, so splash out and buy a real exceptional quality personal scent.
there really no need to spend a lot of a body spray unless you're really hardly going to use it.
Because you're worth it.....
I always look out for offers when I go shopping and tend to pick up all my toiletries when I see them, the Impulse range is one that I often seem to find on 3 for 2 and so I stock up when on offers. I tend to wear a bodyspray after my deodorant rather than a perfume when I am working as working in the care industry you do feel that you need to keep reapplying due to the smells you are subjected to and therefore I do tend to use quite a lot of the Impulse bodysprays whilst at work.
The impulse range can be bought in supermarkets, chemists and often discount stores although I still find the supermarket is the cheapest when they have the offers on. The bodysprays retail at £1.99 when not on offer and this is for a 75ml tin although I have found they are on offer at £1 at the moment in Tesco and this is even better than the usual 3 for 2, I can see me stocking up again shortly!
The tin is slender and the top has a turning spray piece so that you can turn it to the off position when you are not using it and therefore it is not likely to be accidentally sprayed when in your handbag which I like. On the front of the tin is the claim that this gives a new fresher feeling and then the name of the product along with the name of the fragrance, I find it strange that the names don't give any idea what the product will smell like. This tin is a very pale yellow in colour and has what looks like a couple of petals twisted together in yellows and oranges which stand out really well. I tend to think all the Impulse tins are attractive and look especially nice lined up together.
On the rear of the tin you are told that this is dermatologically tested and that it is gentle on your skin, to use you need to hold the product 15cm away from your skin and spray. The spray is quite powerful and you only need a little to give a lively flowery smell as the smell is quite strong, as some of the residents can't see they say that they can smell me coming by my spray although I'm not sure if this is good or not. You are also given lots of warnings on the tin such as the usual keep out of direct sunlight and then you have a list of ingredients and contact information for the makers Unilever.
I like the impulse range and this is one that I do wear quite a lot as I find the fragrance is pretty and isn't too overpowering yet manages to cover the feeling that I smell after dealing with residents, these are certainly worth the price especially when on offers.
I'm not a regular user of perfumed body sprays but I recently was going on a long bus journey and thought that one of these products might be useful to keep me smelling fresh throughout my trip. I picked up one of these Impulse Goddess cannisters because it was available and reasonably priced.
The product is branded as a 'body fragrance' so it isn't meant to be used as an anti-perspirant. It comes in a spray can with 75mls of spray perfume inside. The can is moulded near the top to curve inward which I assume is for an easier grip although I don't think it's entirely neccessary. It has a clever top which you can twist to open and shut so that if you carry this around with you in your handbag you needn't worry about it accidentally being pressed and spraying out onto your stuff. There is a large hard plastic button to press to expel the spray. I find it quite difficult to press, if I'm honest. I think people with arthritic fingers might have a job pressing this.
Information about the product is printed on the can itself. The can is designed in a pale yellow or gold colour and there is a picture of a heart which is made up of ribbons, diamonds, stars and smaller peachy hearts. It's a very feminine design and it also taps into the idea of a woman as a goddess, which is the name of this fragrance.
On the back of the can the brand say this prodct is a mix of "oriental scents and citrus notes" that will make your whole body smell divine. They say the spray is dermatologically tested and is proven to be gentle on skin. Directions for use state to hold the can at least 15 cm away form your skin. You should not use it on broken or irritated skin and the spray is extremely flammable.
When you press the button down the spray comes out in a very fine mist and has a reach of about 18 inches. The spray feels icy cool when it hits your skin. It dries instantly.
The fragrance is very strong. Just one tiny spray of this and I find myself coughing slightly. If you like strong, heady scents then you'll like this. It's the initial hit that is overbearingly strong though. The scent is less strong when you smell it on your skin. I would decribe the fragrance as being very sweet, orangey with a hint of pine. It's a pleasant fragrance but it makes me think of rich city girls and those who like to dress and act a bit sophisticated. I am not really like that so I don't feel this fragrance suits my character as much as other body sprays I've used. I wouldn't exactly say this fragrance deserves the name 'Goddess' either - it's more like the scent equates to the modern model of an urban woman who wants it all.
The body fragrance is really great for using anytime of the day but I find it particularly useful to freshen up when I'm a bit sweaty and can't immediately shower. It helps to mask any bad odour and replaces it with this strong sparkly feminine scent. The cold feeling you get from the initial spray also feels good if you are hot.
Head on over to:
for more information about this product and the rest of the Impulse range.
I've used Impulse body sprays for years as they're so cheap to buy compared to perfume and they have a good range of scents to choose from. This Goddess one is the latest one I've tried.
I bought this body spray for £1 in my local supermarket which I think is very good value for money and it means that you can still smell nice even if you can't afford to splash out on an expensive perfume.
The can is a typical aerosol can which holds 75ml of the spray. It has a lid that twists around to open or close the spray so as long as you remember to close it it can't spray by itself in your bag. It's a neat little size too for carrying around in your handbag for when you need to freshen up. The design is different to the one shown above but it is very pretty in golden colours.
The scent is a blend of exotic oriental scents and citrus notes according to the front of the can. At first it smells quite musky but after a few seconds the citrus notes come through and it smells really fresh and vibrant with just a slight warm muskiness to it. It is a nice scent but not one of my favourites. It's quite a light scent so even if you go a bit overboard spraying it it's not overpowering.
Like most body sprays the scent doesn't last that long so I do have to keep topping it up during the day if I want to keep the scent. I think this one s definitely more of a daytime scent as it's not really strong enough for night time wear.
Again, I was bought Impulse: Goddess, and its not one I'd pick to buy again. The scent is generally sweet well rounded and has a few, very light, citrus-y top notes, but is still fairly bland. It reminds me of clean, just after a shower sorts of smells, but nothing more exciting than that. It wears nicely though, and you don't have to top up too often to keep the scent lingering around you.
I would suggest this to people looking for a soft smell which doesn't overpower, and whom wish to smell like they have just washed. People who like light, airy scents would probably enjoy this as well.
The packaging is light cream, with oranges and reds thrown in, and has the usual swivel cap and nozzle, which seems to be popular on sprays at the moment. I do find that the title "Goddess" is difficult to read, as its very light orange on cream, but this isn't a major problem once you get to know the packaging.
I have used Impulse Body Sprays for years and although they are mostly nice there is nicer ones out there than others.
I tried this scent about 3 months ago. I had seen it on the shelves but I don't know if the colouring put me off. With the light Orange colouring on the tin I imagined this to be a sort of sharp Citrus scent. I suppose I wasn't far wrong, but it is nicer than what I expected.
This is in the normal shape of tin for an Impulse Body Spray. A 75ml tin which is a slim line shape with a twist lid which is part of the tin. You twist it one way to open and the other way to close. The colouring of the tin is a light cream colour with the pattern in that light Orange colour. It looks alright, and although it does stand out on the shelf, it isn't an eye catching tin.
The normal price for this is around £2 in most places, but there is often offers in the main Supermarkets such as £1 per tin, 2 for £2 and offers like that.
This comes out in quite a fine spray, but gives good coverage. It isn't too strong a scent, but strong enough and you can smell this for quite a while after application. I do tend to spray quite a good coverage of Body Spray and it is good that it lasts well enough.
This is more a summery slight citrus scent. There doesn't seem to be stronger scents in here or musky, and it is a nice light fresh scent.
Still not near my favourite scent in the range, but a nice light change from the other ones that I use.
Impulse is a brand I used as a teenager but stopped as I went into my twenties as I realised that, with a little help from a friend, that they were a bit young and I moved onto perfume of which I am an avid fan and have many. So a fair few years on and a friend sprayed herself with something and I liked it and was suprised to hear it was Impulse.
My curiosity was piqued and I decided to investigate in Superdrug. They cost about £1.80 for a 75ml can, though you can get trial 35ml, and were on 2 for £2 at the time. I also saw one of the variants in Poundland.
They retain the same cyclindrical shape as I remember, only the design has changed and they look rather nice. This one, Goddess, is a mixture of white and cream and peach with pictures of hearts, diamonds and bows so not quite as it is above, nicer I would say. The top has a spray nozzle which is hidden behid another top which you turn so you can make sure you don't spray it accidentally.
This claims to be a blend of exotic oriental scents and citrus notes and it strikes me as very fresh, fruity and light, perfect for this hot weather. A one second spray will be enough to cover you but as it is a body mist, the scent will not last as long as a perfume which is a shame but given the low price you can afford to spray it more often.
I rather like this and will probably buy it again for times when I don't feel like using perfume or when you're just about the house. I also got a compliment on the very first day I wore this so it can't be all that bad. I'm probably a bit old for them, mid/late twenties, now looking at all the teenagers who use these but it makes a nice alternative and it's nice to be able to get a new scent for a thirtieth of the price of a designer perfume!
I look forward to trying others....
When it comes to body sprays I am rather a fan of them to be honest with you. The other day I spotted this in a 35ml handy travel size in Boots costing just 99p and decided after taking a quick whiff of it that it was worth a trial run as the bigger size which is standard is 75ml and usually about £1.99 a can.
No matter the size of the can they both appear the same. Light yellow, tall cylinder cans and to the top of my size it has a push button aeresol sprayer and a cap that fits securely over that. On the larger size however it ha a twisty sort of lid to turn it on and off with. On the font of the can there is a picture of an orange flower and I'm told that it is Impulse 'Goddess' Body Fragrance. On the back of the can other information listed includes being given directions for use, ingredients are listed, the size is clearly stated and contact details for Unilever are given. Nice enough can this is and easy enough to handle etc.
This is easy to spray and the clear highly fragranced liquid sprays out with total ease. It possesses a highly floral fragrance that to me smells strongly of orchids but it is a well blended aroma indeed.
You can use this all over the body and although it sprays out wet it dries into the skin in a none irritating way and that's it job done, it doesn't even leave residue anywhere...including on fabrics!
However although the fragrance is rather rich when first sprayed onto the skin it fades rather fast in my opinion however a light citrus aroma is left on the skin which does help me to feel that I am fresher for longer to be fair to it.
All in all this is a nice summer fragrance for the ladies. I like this at the moment worn as a perfume as it is light and as it's so cheap I can reapply it frequently for instant freshness a wand when required. Not my favourite Impulse body spray but it isn't one I'd avoid purchasing in the future for any major reason.
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc.
This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
I have been using Impulse for years now. It's one of those brands that remind me of hitting my teens and worrying about beauty products and fragrances. 10 years on and I am still loving this brand. I always seem to acquire many cans of Impulse, especially around christmas and birthdays as stocking fillers.
I recently got a few cans given to me by my mother who obviously likes to make sure I stay fresh and clean at university (hence the 5 cans I get sent to me). Amongst those was Goddess.
***What is it?***
Impulse Goddess is a body fragrance/ body spray. It is a "blend if exotic oriental scents and citrus notes." To use it, you hold it 15 cm from your body and spray all over. It comes in a thin 75ml can with a twist lid. It is dermatologically tested and gentle on your skin.
Smell: I like this scent because it is quite light. I find that some of the other body sprays that you can get are quite over-powering and smell cheap. This is really refreshing and summery, and great for when you don't want to use some of your nice perfume. One downfall is that it doesn't last for very long.
Packaging: The can is thin and long and is great because you can fit it in your handbag or travel bag. The twist lid is also very useful- it means you can grab it out of your bag quickly, have a spray and then twist it back as you pop it into your bag. It's much better than having a pull off lid because, if you're like me, you will almost definitely lose the lid and end up accidentally spraying it over all your paperwork in your bag!!
Price: In Sainsbury's, the Impulse range is around £1.76 for one bottle. Quite expensive when you consider the amount you're getting. If you look about in pound shops and other supermarkets, you will probably find a cheaper bargain!!
Great summery light smell. One of the good Impulse products.
Impulse is my favourite brand for body spray, and I use their products on a regular basis. By far, their 'Goddess' scent is definitely my favourtie!
The can itself the product comes in holds 75ml of the spray, and is small enough to put in your bag for when you're out and about!
There's no lid for the can - what you have to do is twist the top of the bottle so that the nozzle bit is protected behind a piece of the plastic design. It's quite stiff to do, yet this isn't a bag thing, and being fairly hard to open/close stops any possibility of it leaking everywhere in the bottom of your bag!
Additionally, each different body spray of Impulse's (I think there's around 10 to choose from) has their own specific colour bottle according to scent. In Goddess' instance, the main colour would be a pleasant, easy on the eye peachy/orange.
On the can, it states that Goddess consists of 'exotic oriental scents and citrus notes'. Now, I'm not an expert when it comes to deciphering all the smells of a particular fragrance, but you really can smell those citrus notes! Upon releasing the spray from the bottle, you are hit with a delighfully zesty smelling scent. It's strong, but not overpowering. I'm not quite sure what 'exotic oriental scents' should exactly smell like, but with the citrus it makes for a gorgeous body spray!
Normally, they're around £1.89 a bottle, however at present Tesco have got an offer where you can get them for a pound each.
Impulse Goddess is a light and fragrant spray, with an attractive pale peach exterior. This exterior is what attracted it to me in the shops, and i decided to try it, after reading the fragrance description.
The first time i used it, i was impressed by its fruity notes, but the bottle claims to have 'exotic oriental scents' , and 'citrus notes' which i was mildly disappointed to discover were just in fact not so subtle orange overtones. The spray had a reasonably lasting scent, which stayed on clothes from the morning to evening.
It was defiantly not a strong or overpowering scent, but even a small squirt over clothes entitled the wearer to smell of it.
I do not think i would buy it again, Impulse have produced some wonderful scents, but this is not one of their best. Its rather elegant exterior is very eye-catching, but that appears to be one of the only plausible things about this spray, as it has a rather weakly disappointing scent.
My mom went shopping again the other day and came back armed with about ten different Impulse sprays (no exaggeration) and lucky me I got to choose 5 of them for myself and some where even scents Id never seen sold before so I was looking forward to trying them out. God I sound so sad dont I?! Anyway the Impulse range seems to have had a bit of a make-over recently so I couldnt actually remember whether I had used this Goddess fragrance before due to its new packaging but Ive always been impressed with the scents from this collection in the past so Goddess was the first spray I decied to try out and review.
The image thats attached to this review is actually the old bottle design for this spray because as I mentioned I think Impulse has given their brand a whole new image over the last few months because my bottle looks nothing like the picture. The bottle I have is light orange/peachy colour and the image on the front is of diamonds and hearts in a deep peach colour which is very in keeping with the new classier image Impulse are trying to convey. As with another Impulse review I wrote a while back I think I actually prefer this design when compared to the older one because it a lot more grown up and a lot classier. Impulse has certainly succeeded in their image overhaul as far as Im concerned. Also the spray top of this is a little bit different rather than just pushing it down to release the scent there is a twist top which I if anything prefer because it means all the spray wont start to come out in your handbag.
On the front of the can Impulse describe this scent as a blend of exotic oriental scents and citrus noted which sounds quite nice but not amazing. Ive noticed when reading their description of the individual scent that they never make it sound as nice as it actually is and this one is no different. I dont really like citrus scents as I think they just smell way to sweet so I wasnt expecting to like this one at all but to my surprise I actually did.
Again as I said on the Impulse Tease review this actually smells a lot better than it sounds so never trust Impulse's description! Before I even start describing the smell I will say that a little of this spray goes a very long way and if you spray to much it is very overwhelming and way to strong, so dont spray a load of it. You dont need to! I was expecting this to smell like strong oranges and really fruity but it doesnt in the slightest. In fact I think it smells more floral and musky than anything else so god only knows where Impulse's fruity description came from. This smells very strong and pretty disgusting at first but when you leave it to die down for a few seconds you will just be left with a lovely, subtle floral scent with a musky afterscent (couldnt think of a better way to describe it). This smell lasts pretty much all day on skin and clothes and you will just be left with wafts of this floral scent every time you move during the day.
This is actually a very nice fragrance but it is very different so Im guessing that a lot of people wont like it. Having said that though I reckon it's different in a good way so Im definately going to be stocking up on this spray when my can runs out and I highly recommend it if your looking for a lovely, long lasting scent. Be warned though as it's not for everyone.

I didnt leave me feeling much like a goddess but its pretty nice all the same.
The spray comes in a 75ml canister which is predominately yellow in colour and at the moment you can buy it for £1 at Lloyds Pharmacy.
Usually this product is about £2 but you can regularly get it cheaper if you shop around and they make excellent presents at this price and you cannot fault the scent.
Goddess is one of my favourite scents in the impulse range, I wouldn't go quite as far as to say it makes you feel like a goddess, but it certainly makes you feel good!
It's a very summery fragrance and I love wearing this rather than perfume during the summer months as it makes you feel very fresh and airy.
When smelling the product the first thing you notice is its citrus scent, its very zingy and really bursting with power!
Although it smells so fruity it's not an awful strong scent, it has all these lovely smell coming from the spray but its also very light and delicate at the same time.
The only problem I have with the scent is that it doesn't seem to last that long, I can go out wearing it and then it seems to waft away in the wind and after an hour you can hardly smell it, so I find I am constantly re-spraying it to keep the scent smelling fresh.
This in turn means that I bottle doesn't last too long (not in my case anyway) so that is a negative, but then on the positive side, a bottle is just £1, so it doesn't really hit the bank that hard.
I also thing the good thing about Goddess is that its not to strong to wear at night, on an evening out I often wear this as it smells very fresh and is sometimes is a great alternative to perfume. I would never wear this one with perfume because of its fruity smells it doesn't mix that well with other perfumes.
I would definitely recommend this product to others; it's fantastic value for money and smells delicious! 4 DooYoo stars from me as it loses one for its lack of durability.
