The City range of fragrances were released in 2007 by Impulse and included New York, London and Paris. I have tried the New York and London but never got to try the Paris one. Impulse was founded in 1972 in South Africa initially and was then brought to the UK in 1979 by Elida Gibbs. It was tagged with the by-line 'Men can't help acting on impulse", with new fragrances being added regularly.
The Impulse London spray is a grapefruit and black current fragrance that is paired with Vanilla, Jasmine and Sandalwood. The combination of the fruit and vanilla notes gives a nice scent that is almost desert like! Yummy!
The scent is a nice deep perfume and holds its strength for a good few hours after applying, though these City sprays do not seem to have the longevity of the other impulses and do wear off half way through the day
It is sold in one of Impulses standard sized aerosol cans which hold 75 ml. The Impulse cans are tall and slim. The top turns around to reveal the spray nozzle which you depress to apply. These 75ml cans are priced at around £1.99 each, but it tend to but them when they are on offer, normally either 99p each of 2 for £2 which makes them much better value.
The spray nozzle allows a wide diffusion of the body spray and works not only when the can is upright but when angled allowing easy application. The 75 ml can last me around 2 weeks when used once/twice daily. I often carry a can in my handbag as well to allow me to freshen up if I need to and as the cans are so slim they easily fit without taking up any room.
I'm a sucker for smellies and love perfumes, deodorants and body sprays. I'm not really loyal to any one in paticular as I like to experiment and try new scents. Impulse is a really well known body spray brand that has been around for a long time. I've used different varieties of their sprays but this one caught my eye as a new, limited edition one.
The packaging is quite bold and catches your eye when on the shelf with other sprays. It's the usual Impulse can with the twist lid that stops and allows the spray to be used. The Impulse logo is on the front in big letters with a large yellow and gold X covering the whole can. It is describes as Limited edition from the London variety of the City collection.
I spray an anti-perspirant deodorant on first to prevent sweating. I don't really like the smell of anti-perspirants though so almost always use a body spray like this ontop so I'm safe from sweating and smell lovely. I spray this under my arms, accross my body before getting dressed and sometimes accross my clothes when I get a little carried away. It's not a thick spray so you can spray this in a small room like the bathroom without choking and coughing like I've found with some sprays.
The back of the can states that the spray contains sandalwood, grapefruit and vanilla scents. I must admit I'm not sure what sandalwood is meant to smell like but the grapefruit and vanilla are certainly noticeable, making the spray smell fresh, sweet and fruity. It isn't an over-powering smell or too strong but you can smell it quite clearly. I must say I do like the smell of this, I prefer sweeter perfumes and scents so this definitely appeals to me.
I like the smell of this a lot although it doesn't work as an anti-perspirant deodorant. On occasion, if I've run out of a deodorant, I've used this on it's own and it doesn't prevent sweating and loses it's smell pretty quickly. I find it is much better when teamed with an anti-perspirant, and I don't paticularly sweat much either. I don't seem to be able to smell this later in the day and into the evening but I think it's because I get used to the smell as I've smelt in on my clothes when taking them off an evening before bed so it does last quite well. It's also safe to spray on clothes which is great as I often use deodorant after getting dressed and have had problems with white marks from other deodorants but this has never
marked any of my clothes.
The impulse body sprays come in a 75ml can which is a great size to pop in your handbag and keep with you on the go. The twist-lid also makes it ideal as it won't end up getting sprayed in your bag. Although I think the size is ideal for travel, it doesn't seem to last me five minutes. I go through Impulse really fast and I don't know why. I use other body sprays from Avon and Charlie and they seem to last much longer. I don't know if its because Impulse cans contain less spray or if it is just me going a bit mad on the smelly. I do find that this has put me off buying it at times though as I'd like a spray that lasts longer. It'd be great if Impulse did a larger can like a 250ml as that'd last a lot longer and save me from keep buying them.
You can find Impulse body sprays in most shops, small garage shops, corner shops, chemists and supermarkets. It normally retails at £1.99 a bottle which I think is really expensive. You can always find it somewhere on offer for 99p or £1 like Boots or Superdrug so I'd definitely recommend waiting until you see it on offer as it's half the price! Impulse is a reliable body spray and smells great. It's popular with young people and also older which I think shows what a good product it is. I'd recommend this scent in paticular as it's lovely and sweet and quite a girly scent, just make sure you wait till it's on offer ladies!
I am a huge fan of the 'New York' body spray, from the "City Collection" of body sprays from the well-known Impulse brand. I have found it can be quite hard to come by, and was looking for it in a local branch of Savers, the discounted drugstore recently when my eye caught a similar looking body spray product in the same range.
The 'London' body spray is from the same collection in the Impulse range and the packaging has a similar look to it. This was the sole reason for me buying the product, as I am such a big fan of the alternative sprays in the same range. I didn't pay any notice to the description of the spray, but noticed that the lilac-coloured metal canister was quite feminine looking, and fairly eye-catching, thanks to the addition of lots of little 'Londo Themed' symbols on the front of the can, ranging from a red telephone box to a small Union Jack symbol.
I paid only £1 for the canister of Impulse London body spray, which is 75ml in size. I believe that this was a sort of promotional price that was running at the time, and am unsure of what the usual cost of the product would be.
I tried out the Impulse London body spray the following day. It was easy to 'open up' the nozzle on the top of the can, which I managed to do by simply turning the plastic cap anti-clockwise. This allowed the outer plastic cap to reveal the small nozzle underneath it, through which the Impulse spray could be dispensed. This all took a mere moment and I was able to dispense the spray from the can with only slight pressure being applied to the plastic cap. This released a fine mist from the can which I sprayed over myself.
The spray didn't feel overly 'wet' or sticky, nor did it feel like I had used too much from the can, as the mist was really quite fine and it clung to my skin pleasantly.
As soon as the spray had been dispensed from the canister however, I was instantly aware of it's very strong fragrance. The Impulse London spray is actually very sweet and as a result I found it was quite sickly to wear. I thought too that the fragrance felt very 'false' and very much like something I recognise from one of my mother's fragranced air freshener sprays that she uses regularly. All in all, first impressions were not good.
On the plus side, I found that the fragrance seemed to 'die down' quite soon after it had been applied to my skin, and the sickly, sweet tones settled down once the spray had dried on my skin. I found that the spray was much more subdued after I had been wearing it for a couple of hours, and I could only really smell it if I sniffed my wrist, at the point of application. I still found that the fragrance was quite sweet, however, and it still stood out to me as being over-powering and quite sickly.
After inspecting the reverse of the can, I can see that the product is described as "A Blend Of Sandalwood, Vanilla and Grapefruit Scents." This description explains perfectly why the fragrance of the product is not suited to my own tastes. I really don't like the fragrance of either vanilla products, or products containing sandalwood and in all honesty I would never have purchased this product if I had read the description on the reverse of the canister. I could not detect the scent of grapefruit, or anything remotely fruit-like in the tones of the fragrance throughout the time I was wearing it, and found that the other scents were far too fragrant and quite over-powering, so I feel that they drowned out any other scents that may have been underneath.
his was truly a case of buying a product based on its packaging, which is something that I seldom do, but was teased into purchasing this product due to my love of its sister spray, and the low promotional price that it was being sold for on the day. It is fair to say that I have learned my lesson and will be exercising more caution when purchasing sprays from the Impulse brand in the future!
I'm afraid that I can't recommend the Impulse 'London' body spray at all as its fragrance is one that I really don't like. I did think that the product was of a fairly high quality, and thought that it lasted quite well once it had been applied but these, and the fact that the packaging is quite pretty, are really the only positive aspects of the product that I can report. I would not buy it again and have given my canister to my sister, after only using it a small handful of times myself.
There is a whole range of body spray products available from the Impulse range, which can be found in all good drugstores such as Superdrug and Savers, as well as in some larger supermarkets such as Tesco. Prices vary, but you can expect to pay between £1 - £2, depending on where you shop.
Impulse Body sprays are something that take me back to my teenage years but are still a product I stock up on now as its nice to have a cheap fragrance that you can just spray on if you're going to the gym or out going nowhere special but still want to smell nice without using up your expensive perfume. According to the makers of Impulse they say, "Impulse offers you the best in all-over freshness and fragrance, giving you the confidence to feel more naturally attractive. Impulse is available in a wide range of high quality, body spray fragrances to deliver an invigorating sensation of light, fresh fragrance and gentle deodorant. Spraying them all over your body leaves your skin feeling cool, fresh, revitalised and gently fragranced. All Impulse products are dermatologically tested"
Well, you can't argue with that philosophy and I do like them for their all over body spray abilities. One of the recent ones I have tried is the London fragrance. I have tried the New York one too so decided to stick with the city versions recently. Impulse say that London is, "It's the city that's too fast too sleep. Shop for cutting edge style, glimpse the lights on the Thames from a black cab at midnight. Go your own way with Impulse London Bodyspray." I'm not sure I would go that far with it and hey, it's not the height of sophistication but who cares, I like the fragrance and the wearability I get from it.
The can is purple with a picture of a girl on it who is looking cool in the city, London city so its definitely in keeping with the whole image of the body spray. The fragrance is described on the back of the can having notes of sandalwood, vanilla and grapefruit. To me its definitely a fruity fragrance and I can smell the grapefruit more than any of the other smells. I do like fragrances like this and it is sweet without being too overpowering. Perfect for daytime wear, if I spray it on in the morning I can smell it throughout the day and like all the other Impulse sprays you can tell that it has a bit of a aerosol smell but its nice for a basic fun fragrance.
A 75ml can in Boots will cost you £1.99, it will last about two weeks of daily use, especially if you use it all over your body but for that price I think it is quite a good deal.
I have recently noticed the Impulse collection of 'city' scents and as a Londoner myself decided to pick up the London version. It comes in a cute purple spray bottle with lots of iconic Londonesque pictures on the front, such as red phone boxes, a Carnaby street sign etc.
This is a body fragrance and as someone who likes a strong scent I find I use a fair amount of this product. As a result of this is only lasts me a fwe weeks, however its price means that this isn't an issue. It costs between £1.50-£2.00 depending on where you buy from, I think this is a very affordable price.
The bottle has a plastic top which you slide around to reveal the part where the spray is released. You then press down on the top and voila! The bottle is very sturdy and can be carried in your handbag without the fear of breakage which often accompanies perfume bottles. The container is pressurised and as such carries warning labels stating it should not be kept in direct sunlight and the bottle should not be pierced. It is extremely flammable so keep away from candles etc if you are putting it on in the evening.
The scent is a misxture of sandalwood, vanilla and grapefruit scents and I really like this as it is a slightly sweet but deep scent which I really notice. This is a great product for freshening up throughout the day and evening as I feel it is a pretty universal scent which can be applied at all times of the day! I find that when sprayed on skin this scent doesn't linger for very long however, but if it is sprayed on your clothing as well then the scent is held much better and I often find my clothes still smell of the scent when I go to put the in the washing machine!
Impulse are well known for their large array of body sprays and I feel that they are a staple brand in the market and as such are trustworthy. I generally like to try many of their scents, so expect more reviews coming this way soon!
I've been using London Impulse now for the past 2 or 3 years and I have been very happy with it. I haven't considered using any other body spray since I started using this. Also since wearing it, I have received many compliments about the way I smell. I find that it has a fairly strong smell, so I don't tend to wear any perfume as I find the impulse spray sufficient. However, I don't just use impulse, I do use a Dove roll-on aswell to prevent sweating, spraying the impulse spray on top for the nice scent. What I think is good about the product is the fact that it is long-lasting. I spray it every morning not just under my arms, but on my neck, chest and on my arms aswell. I tend to find that when I go to bed at night, I can still smell it, so that shows that it lasts for a long time. The price is very good and it is very cheap, especially when considering the price that people pay for perfume. There are often offers in Superdrug such as 3 for 2 offers so I recommend stocking up when they are are offer.
The problem is that you will definately need to stock up because they tend run out fast! Obviously it depends on how much you use, but I find that sometimes I need a new one every week. But they are very cheap and easy to get hold of in stores such as Boots and Superdrug. I can't think of many other disadvantages, just that it is a matter of opinion as to whether it smells nice or not. Just because I like the smell, doesn't mean everyone else does so I would recommend you trying a few different ones until you decide which you like the best. In the same range, I would say that I also like the Paris one but I'm not as keen on the New York one. Again, this is down to personal preference so try out different ones and see which you prefer
I always vary with which body sprays to buy as although I like the smell of a lot of them, I like variation and trying new scents.
I recently picked up 'London' which is one of the new 'city' scents by Impulse. It was along side other cities such as New York and Paris and i'm sorry but I can't actually remember the name of the rest. I chose this one without even smelling it on the basis that I love London city so just assumed i'd like it...
This cost me £1 as it was on offer in Boots, though i think they're usually priced at around £1.60-£2 per bottle. This can also be bought from all good supermarkets, Superdrug and places like Savers.
The lid to this particular spray differs from that of other body sprays as instead of pulling the lid of and pressing the pump, the lid twists instead to reveal the spray head. I like this design as its more convenient and I can't lose the lid as its attached. The pump is easy to press and when finished all you have to do is simply twist the lid back round and voila.
The smell of this scent is one of my favourites, which was lucky seeing as i didn't test it first. It's quite a sweet smell, but not so much that its sickly. The scent will last for a couple of hours and then need reapplying is required, same as all body sprays really. I only use it to freshen up before i have to go somewhere however.
For £1 I couldn't really go wrong and would recommend this scent to those wanting to try a different spray. let me know how you get on :)
Impulse London- this is the only product in the Impulse city collection that I have failed to review , so I thought I would give it a go. Impulse London is my second favourite in this collection because i think that it reminds me of being in london, where im from. Not that it smells like rotting sewage and tramps but it just smells like home and is not the best spray to have on all the time because it fails to stay on for more than 2 hours.
The smell is sort of like sandlewood-grapefruit and vanilla scents that lisft my mood whenever i spray it. I like this one because when i bought it , it was on sale for buy 1 get 1 free in savers in my local shopping centre. There were all of the city collections to choose from and i picked two of these because they were called London and I had just mooved from there and the fact that they smelled so divine and simplistic.
Not like a deodorant this Impulse has had me queueing up for ages just to get one or two bottles to add too my collection. The packaging on the bottle is very pretty just like the other Impulse city collection. The bottle is purple with lots of signuiture London stuff on the front, say like there is a Carnaby street sign and a red post box, and because the rest of the signs and stuff are purple it really corespons this which i liked a lot because when i picked it up i thought , "Oh,well thats bright , i'll buy that!" No joking, I think that the Unilever brand have had a very successfull range in this city collection because all of the products are practicall the same in the sense that they all represent the same thing, the major citys all around the world and Impulse have now put a signuiture smell on those capitals that are most loved by the public.
You can buy the entire Impulse collection online or in the shops for just £5 in a gift set which for one is also purple and is a nice little gift for someone else or just a pure indulgence for you.
Thanks for reading my review, please rate
That is not London!
Today I'd like to review the London deodorant out of the "City Collection" by Impulse.
I generally have a positive attitude towards the brand Impulse. Well over ten years ago, they made the official Spice Girls deodorant, which I really love and miss! I can still remember the scent and always think of it when I say anything by Impulse.
So when I saw the pretty London body fragrance at Superdrug, I just had to buy it. I didn't want to be impolite and try a bottle out in the shop, so I just bought it without even having a try, thinking it must be good and that it's quite cheap!
So, all together my reasons for buying it were the fact that I really like Impulse as a brand and the deodorant being a London edition with a pretty design on the front!
The bottle measure 15cm and his is 3,3cm in diameter. That makes it pretty hangbag-friendly!
It is of a metallic lilac colour with a London-themed design underneath the black Impulse writing. There is a whirlwind of sunglasses, platform shoes, a tea cup, a phone box, a record,a crown and many more London-related things printed on it. The whole design is very fashionesque with a street sign of Carnaby Street between all those items. The front of the bottle also says "City Collection - London".
On the back of the bottle there is a little text asking if you've "ever been seduced by a romantic walk along London Bridge".
Information on the scent is given as well - the deodorant is supposed to smell of vanilla, grapefruit and sandalwood and it should give you the feeling of "the trendienst city".
The ingredients, security advice and the manufacture's address and costumer care line is given as well.
How to use
The difuser is made of two parts - the spraying-bit and a protection around it that you twiste to reveal the part where the deodorant comes out. I find this very practical because in case you have children, the won't be able to open it and mess around so easily. It also is quite good because the deo won't accidentally go off in your bag.
The amount of deodorant coming out if fine - you can quite easily regulate it by how strong you press it.
Sadly, the scent did not live up to my expectations. The deodorant smells way too sour and strong. I don't smell any of the vanilla that was listed on the back of the bottle but instead a sour smell of grapefruit and too strong sandalwood comes out of the bottlle. I don't feel refreshed when I use this - I feel rather smelly.
I really only use it when I find nothing else - I really worry it might put other people off when I wear it.
Preferrences in scents differ from person to person, so there might be people around who enjoy this kind of scent - but I don't. It smells neither fresh or sweet.
While I am not happy with the scent, my skin is absolutely okay with it. No allergic reactions or stinging! But of course, people with very sensitive skin should look at the ingredients first.
How refreshing is it?
This deodorant will keep sweaty smells away for a few hours. It's not a miracle product, but it's fine! Because of the scent, I don't find it too refreshing, but it keeps you smelling non-sweaty and is good for after gym.
How long will is it last?
The bottle isn't empty too quickly - it will last you quite a while, even when you use it daily!
Alcohol Denat, Butane, Isobutane, Propane, Parfum, Isopropyl Myristate, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicyate, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool.
I bought this in December at Superdrug for a pound!
I reckon this price is acceptable and hopefully the other city editions smell better. And if they all fail, you can still get "Vanilla kisses" by Impulse, which is much better.
This deodorant looked very promising to me - it's by a brand I like, the packaging is very appealing and the price was acceptable, too. But the scent is simply not to my liking. It is too sour and strong! A deodorant should make you feel save and less unsecure about your body odor - but this body spray kept me worrying whether people would reckon I stink or not.
Sadly, I wouldn't buy it again - I hope Impulse might reinvent this deodorant because they packaging is so pretty and the price is alright.
Following on from my Paris Review, I have a tin of this in the house as well. I stocked up when these were £1 each at Asda, and now the Impulse range is 2 for 32 at Asda, instead of the usuall £1.74 per 75ml tin. It is usually the only Body Spray that I use, but I wouldn't be happy at paying all that for it.
This is part of the Cities collection, which also has Paris and New York in the range. These were meant to be limited edition, but they have been out a while now.
The tin looks ok. It is quite a thin tin and mainly a nice lilac colour. It has London things on it, such as a Carnaby Street sigh, a Union Jack and so on. Looks ok and bright enough. You just twist the lid 1 way to spray, or back the other way to lock.
This one is my 2nd favourite in the City collection. New York is the best in my view, and i'm not too keen on the Paris one. This one has a scent that is quite hard to describe. It is a fresh scent, but there seems to be a light purple floral scent. Not a Fruity scent, but it is just a nice airy scent. It lasts a good while as well, and I can stilll smell this at lunchtime slightly after spraying this in the morning.
One of the nicest Impulse sprays and I will keep buying this now and again, especially when it is on offer.
I have to say out of all the body sprays i have tried, impulse is most probably my favourite! Impulse do a huge selection of body sprays so there are plenty of smells that suit you taste. With all impulse sprays, the smell stays on your clothes all day. there always bringing out new sprays. speaking of new sprays impulse London, is one of the latest editions along with Impulse New York and Impulse Paris.
Impulse London is a sweet smell, but it smells casual to. some sprays can smell classy or either like a bowl of sweets! this one isnt to strong but smells just perfect to wear everyday and anywhere you want.
the only problem is these sprays don't last that long when you use them on a daily basis.
i would defo recommend this to anyone whos looking for a sweet but not to strong smell for every day use.
I hold my hands up ... I am and Impulse addict. I have tried nearly every brand of body spray and Impulse is now my one and only, with all their range having sensational scents and amazing designs on the bottle. I have my favourites, with some of them not as good as others, but I would defiantly recommend the Impulse City Collection, with London being my favourite. You can buy the three (London, Paris, New York) in a pack or on their own.
Impulse London catches your eye immediately, with its eye-catching purple design and urban images of London (my all-time favourite city) on the bottle, which makes it easy to find in the shop among the other Impulse range. You can buy it for around £1.50 from most drug stores, and I find it lasts a while, although I do alternate daily between my vast ranges of sprays.
The actual smell itself is a fruitful mix of grapefruit and vanilla, a girly scent that isn't too bland not to notice, but isn't too overbearing, it is just right. Like all Impulse sprays, it doesn't mark your clothes with unsightly white patches, and leaves you smelling fresh all day, although top ups always give you a little lift throughout the day. The screw lid on the top ensures you wont loose the top (ideal for me!) but also, it wont start spraying in your handbag if twisted over the top right.
There is also the same bottle of Impulse London in a mini bottle, perfect for smaller handbags, or a holidays if you want a different range of sprays. You can buy these individually or in the mini Impulse City Collection. It is also the perfect gift for any girl of any age. Well worth the money over bland cheap versions
Impulse London- Good Times...
A Little History on the Company
Impulse is a body spray manufactured by Fabergé which was part of Unilever, an Anglo-Dutch company based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, London and the United Kingdom. It was first introduced as a 'perfume deodorant' in South Africa in 1972, Impulse was then launched in the UK in 1979, including the butterfly design and the slogan "Men can't help acting on Impulse."
Impulse London comes in a 75ml metal aerosol that measures around 15cm long. The can itself follows a purple theme (to make this extra girly) with an attractive woman on the front who would be the typical 'Wearer' of this.
Why Is It Called London?
This is part of a collection that Impulse brought out around two years ago. The other smells are named Impulse New York and Impulse Paris. The cities resemble different smells and get you into a shopping bonanza mood.
Impulse offers you the best all over freshness and fragrance around in today's market which gives you the confidence to feel more naturally attractive and sexy. Every body spray/ deodorant they have brought out are is very high quality and the fragrance delivers a sense of light and fresh fragrance. When you spray all over your body your skin feels cool, fresh, revitalised and gently fragranced.
This is sold at £1.69 in Boots but the price does vary on which shop you visit. This is sold in supermarkets as well as in health and beauty stores!
I bought this to go on holiday once and I was actually addicted to it! Every time I smell it now it just reminds me of the past and it is great. You can really distinguish it from other products. This is a great one to try out and I recommend it to all those girlie's out there!
I bought Impulse city collection London because I loved the sound of the aromas it listed on the back.
I've always like impulse because it doesn't leave a white mark on anything you wear, even though it doesn't actually say anti white marks on it.
It is defiantly a lovely smelling spray, and you can really smell the grapefruit and vanilla scent.
The fragrance lasts all day, and you don't need to keep reapplying it every 2 minutes.
The screw top is really useful, because you don't have to worry about losing the lid.
The color and pictures on the can make it very eye-catching with the deep purples making it appear very seductive and romantic.
I find the can lasts me a good long time, and can last over a month if you only wear it a couple of times a week.
I am very impressed with this spray, and would defiantly buy it again.
Absolutely love impulse body sprays, currently using City collection London and it smells lovely. When I was in Boots a few weeks back they had it on offer a £1 a bottle, so I thought I would give it a try. I have recommended the London one to a few of my friends and they love it too. It comes in a funky purple bottle with little pictures of things associated with London. I find that a bottle will last me a fair few weeks and it seems to last the whole day without me having to spray again or unless I have been doing a workout. I haven't been a regular with buying impulse, I only use to buy it to take on holiday. But recently I have been buying it and whenever I put it on the smell always reminds me of holiday which is a nightmare when I have to go to work. I would highly reccomend this product or any other impulse spray as they all smell great to me.
