I have always thought of Impulse as the biggest and best brand of body spray since I started using it when I was still in school.
I used to love the sprays they had out back in the 90's. O2, ICO and ZEN were my favourites and I was disappointed when they rebranded and started bringing fragrances out with names such as True Love, but I have still always had a soft spot for Impulse. Perhaps it's nostalgia that makes this brand really appeal to me and I am always thrilled to receive Impulse as a gift at Christmas or for my birthday.
I find it isn't something I often buy for myself though.
I think the 75ml spray cans are quite small and I find they don't last very long.
I don't really think of the brand as being aimed at teenagers despite some of the names of the scents. I know women in their 50's who use Impulse and at 26, I don't think twice about it being too young for me.
~ Price and availability ~
They are available in Boots for £1.99 each, but they are sometimes on offer for half price making them just £0.99 each.
I recently decided I was going to wait until Impulse went on offer in Boots and buy one of each kind to try.
I think there was about 10 or 11 different scents that I picked up.
~ Packaging ~
My can of Loving Words is the one pictured, with a green/ turquoise can and lots of words in a heart shape on the front.
Today I went into Boots and saw this in different packaging more in line with the rest of the range.
This fragrance and another one called Love Puzzle seem to have different packaging to the rest, possibly due to them originally being from a separate range, but now this one has updated packaging in line with the rest of the Impulse sprays so it must be one they're going to keep.
The can I bought doesn't hint towards what this is going to smell like, but the one that I saw today in the shop had, 'violet and raspberry' written on the front, which I thought sounded like a lovely combination.
~ In use ~
To use the spray you simply twist the white top of the spray to reveal the nozzle and then push down on the top of the spray.
The spray is released in a cool burst, which feels refreshing on hot summer days.
I really love the scent. It is a nice fruity floral scent. The raspberry is very sweet, but the sweetness is toned down by a very fresh light floral, which must be the violet. It smells very clean and reminds me of fabric softener. It is quite subtle, but gives you a very fresh smell.
I love this one and although I haven't used all of the range yet, I think this is going to be one of my favourites.
The scent lingers for a few hours before fading away. It gives me a boost of freshness during the day and it makes me smell lovely.
I haven't been using this spray very long, but I know from the sprays I have used since purchasing the entire range that a can will last me around 3-4 weeks.
I find the sprays really handy and with them being quite small they are easy to fit into my handbag. I have a huge handbag, but in the nicer weather I have been using smaller ones and a can of Impulse always fits in.
~ Conclusion ~
I love the scent of Loving Words and will definitely be repurchasing this body spray.
It is such a clean, fresh scent. I think it would appeal to women of all ages.
It comes in quite a small spray can so it easily fits into your bag and it lasts a few weeks. I think it is good value, especially when it is on offer.
