Aldi Cotton Dry Fragrance for sensitive skin. A 50ml Blue and white bottle roll on.
Aldi is my local shopping experience. They have a quality range of products and l like shopping there. Usually when I go, l look at the beauty products to see what is on offer, they are all reasonable priced. When l went shopping a Aldi 2 weeks ago l was searching for a reasonable deodorant with protection against odder and perspiration and long lasting 24hrs.
Looking on the shelf l saw this particular product that l wanted to buy this was a roll on deodorant by Lacura the price is 69p for a bottle of 50ml.
These are 2 bottles in the women's range comprising of Cotton Dry Fragrance and Aloe Vera Extract and 1 Ecite Roll On Deodorant Active for men. Looking and scanning them I decided to purchase the Cotton Day Fragrance for Sensitive skins. On the bottle on the top left a little Icon with a 24hr in the middle and arrows around in a circular direction and if you have sensitive skin like me this actually works. There is no soreness at all.
The bottle has a blue lid and white and compact and has a ball that rotates. The bottle is designed with a diagonal slop at the bottom, that you can only store up side down what an ingenious idea. So all the liquid comes free flow around the ball and stays constantly covered with liquid and remains on the ball. There is a larger ball on the product, that has more coverage and spreads well.
When rolling the liquid onto your skin this is thin in texture and quite smooth and wet and slightly sticky. Drying time usually takes between five minutes but this doesn't restrict me in putting on my clothes on straight after you have used the product.
When dry this product dries clear leaving no white residue. A very pleasant smell, very mild cool and refreshing smell a slight fragrance of roses and talc.
This product is very reasonable priced and this deodorant does what antiperspirants do protects for 24hrs and is not over priced at all. Like some other products of which are over priced and are quite strong for your skin. In other words leave red marks or too strong meaning they can be harmful and stop you from perspiring naturally.
Lasts long over a month. Ball doesn't dry out lasts until the very end.
I've been shopping in Aldi and having been trying some of their beauty ranges needing deodorant I grabbed a roll on Antiperspirant/ Deodorant by Lacura. It didn't cost much I can't remember exactly as it was a month ago but it was around 60p for 50ml.
I chose Aloe Fresh which claims 24 hour protection and is 'ideal for sensitive skin'. The bottle is small and white with a screw top lid. I like the fact that the bottle is small as it fits neatly in my bag. The bottom of the bottle is slopped so it is stored upside down on it's lid thus making it easier to 'roll on' as the ball is always loaded with liquid. The ball itself is large compared to other roll ons I've used in the past but this helps cover a larger area. The liquid is quite thin but sticky and comes out quickly, it feels wet for a while so I have to wait to get dressed but then dries clear without a powdery residue and doesn't stain my clothes. The smell is pleasant, it reminds me of face cream and talc- it's quite strong though.
Does it work:
Yes more or less, although I do find that I sometimes need a top up throughout the day. My under-arms stay more or less dry and I don't smell of body odour (I don't think!!). I don't think it would last 24 hours but it lasts the day. It doesn't irritate my skin unlike their spray deodorant which makes me itch. It's comparable to proper makes infact I prefer to some dearer brands.
It's lasted a good few weeks and the ball hasn't dried out and got stuck- if anything it's too wet.
Because of the price it would be 5 stars but as I find it stays wet and sticky for ages I'm giving it 4.
As i have mentioned in previous reviews on items i do suffer from very sensitive skin and find that most products even those supposedly catering for sensitive skin will leave my skin red raw, itching and after a while very very sore. So to find this product about 6 months ago now was a real blessing for me.
There are 3 varieties of this deodorant the blue 'cotton like' ... the green (with Aloe Vera) or the mens version in a black bottle. I myself prefer the green although the blue is also very nice. The green with the aloe vera has a wonderful light, fresh and almost floral smell, which seems to last for a very long time, well all day in fact.
The bottle is easy to store on your bathroom shelf by standing it on its top so the ball is always wet and ready to use. The bottle is also small so as to be easy to carry with you in your handbag.
If there is a downside at all with this product i would have to say that it is a little too wet and can take a while to dry which can be a bind if you are in a hurry, but that is a very minor complaint.
This deodorant is available in all Aldis for the very good price of around 70 pence and works better for me than anything else i have found. Even though it isn't advertised as being suitable for sensitive skin it really is the best thing i have found, ........ in fact so far the only deodorant that i can use without irritation.
Lacura Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
Roll-on, Cotton Dry variety
This is the Aldi own-brand anti-perspirant deodorant, and it comes it two varieties, I have chosen the 'Cotton Dry' variety. This comes in a blue and white container.
The product is designed to be stored upside-down, so the lid is large with a flat end, and the printing on the label is the appropriate way up as well.
This costs around 75 pence from any Aldi store, which is a fantastic price, so I thought I would give it a try.
The ball inside the lid is large and free-moving, making it easy to apply. The product within is quite 'wet' and runny, which all helps the ball to move around easily.
The product is a translucent white colour, and glides on quickly.
The drying time is average, depending on how much you have used of course.
The product is scented, as the name suggests 'Cotton Dry' but it is not a heavy or strong smell - it just smells slightly fresh and soap-like, and once it has dried, it doesn't really smell at all. This suits me, but of course it's not for anyone who likes a stronger perfume from their deodorant.
As for the anti-perspirant properties, I have tested this by applying in the morning after a shower, wearing it all day, then doing a full workout at the gym in the evening: Does it do the job? Well, no-one has complained, and I haven't noticed any bad odours coming from the underarm area (and I have been checking frequently - you know, the 'saying hello to your armpit' manoeuvre).
One slight drawback (and it is only very slight): When the roll-on dries, it does tend towards a slight white powdery substance which can rub onto clothes. If you are used to the modern varieties that don't do this, this will be a problem, but it's not a lot.
All in all, a good product at a great price, and yes, I would buy it again.
