Lush Coconut Deodorant Powder
Advantages: gorgeous scent, soft skin
Disadvantages: needs reapplied on warm day, messy to apply
Being a huge fan of all things coconut and of most things Lush I had to give this a go.
The product comes in a black pot with a twist opening lid, like salt, with little holes to sprinkle the product out of it. I find this a bit irritating as you don't get very much out at once and it takes a bit of shaking to loosen up the powder. I shake it onto my fingertips to rub in rather than directly onto my body as I find it too messy that way and you end up loosing a lot of product on the floor. I've heard of people using a soft face brush to dust it on but I think this would be quite messy too.
As a deodorant this is not going to keep you dry, certainly not on a summer day, but it will keep you smelling lovely. I put on my normal anti-perspirant first then rub this is in on top and dust it all over like I would with Lush's other dusting powders. You need to make sure it's really well rubbed in before putting your clothes on as it will leave white marks and residue if you've got too much on. It's really trial and error with that and takes a bit of practice to apply just the right amount.
The scent is just heavenly. It is coconut yes but it's not a synthetic overly-sweet smell. It's slightly nutty and a little spicy which I think makes a lovely summery scent. It lingers quite well on the skin as a dusting powder but if you're using it purely as a deodorant you'll probably need to reapply it several times throughout the day. I leave my pot in my room with the lid turned to 'open' and often get a whiff of it in the room which is lovely.
It's a fairly expensive product at £3.80 for a 50g tub but when compared with their solid deodorants (around £4) and the actual dusting powders (around £6.50 for 100g) I think this is quite reasonable as it smells a lot nicer than any of the others, in my opinion.
Overall, as a deodorant I would rate this around 3 because I don't think it would be strong enough on a very warm day or if you're exercising but as a light body fragrancing powder it is gorgeous and lasts well and it does a good job of keeping less sweaty areas (for example down your back or the backs of the knees) feel dry. It also has the added bonus of making your skin feel quite soft and silky. So for these little extras and the gorgeous tropical cocktail scent I'm giving it 4 DooYoo stars.
Summary: Delicious Coconut cocktail
