      wow

lynx for me is the best smelling deodrant around. i have worn lynx for years and probably tried every single different flavour for example. lynx africa however is my favourite smelling one. the can design is fashionable and the spray is a a a amazinggggg. sometimes however it can be expensive due to the fact that its not on offer nd its 4 quid a can. sometimes it can cost even more if you are looking in a certain shop or looking for a compressed or xl can. lynx for me is my favourite spray and i absolutely adore it. the ladies love it too and everytime i go and by any spray i take one with me and when i say do you like this smell, when i find the lynx they never say no whatever taste they have in boys. the adverts for lynx are pretty good aswell and they dont lie half the time especially the one for lynx attract ;) the perfect present for someone on thier birthday or maybe in a box set at christmas is lynx africa. also the fact that you can get a dry deodrant to so therefore it will stop you sweating and you will smell good. with new compressed cans lynx can save money and help the environment so if i were you i would buy the compressed cans with the green stripe just below the lid of the can. lynx sprays are also very easy to use and i would recommend them to anyone or everyone that would like to know a good spray that would suit them. i give this product a 5/5 in my books. now go to a pharmacy and buy some lynx because trust me you wont forget it!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Lynx is still the best smelling deodorant and now comes in a smaller can

As part of the latest Bzzagent campaign, I had the Lynx Africa Deodorant bodyspray sent to me.

Unilever, the people who produce the product have gone on a mission. They are reducing the size of their cans but still keeping the same amount within side. Its called "compressed". Of course this raises questions in your mind as to whether you do get less for your money.

So the can is now 100ml and not the 150ml. The can is near enough round and black metal with a plastic top. The top is abit different to your usual can in that it has a twist top. Twisting the top around then reveals a nozzle. This nozzle you then push down to get your spray out.

      How to use:
The can states that you hold the can 15cm away from your body. By spraying it like you would do with your usual cans, you will use exactly the same as your older, bigger can.

      Africa Scent:
In my opinion this is the most common and popular scent that Lynx have to offer. I cannot really describe what it smells like. The official description is "an exotic mixture of warm African spices and aromas". Either way, its a very pleasant smelling bodyspray. My wife likes it aswell, so for a bodyspray smell, its all good.

      Duration:
Ok so we kind of need to something straight here. Is it a bodyspray or a deodorant? Bear in mind that these are two very different things. A bodyspray literally just makes your smell nice, whilst a deodorant is more about keeping you dry when you sweat. Lynx says that its both, which I guess can be a good thing then. First off, the smell lasts for hours. I can go for a day, take my shirt off and still smell the Africa scent. It still smells on the body and on the shirt. The deodorant itself however, I do feel does not last as long. I would save you get a good 6hrs, and I whilst I do not get "smelly arm pits" I start to loose the dryness feel after this 6hr stint.

      Compressed Can:
Whilst I was rather sceptical of the compressed can theory, and recognise that it must be difficult to promote something as positive when you reduce the size, I do believe that it does work. They have compressed and whilst I have been using it, the can still remains the level I would expect. I have no problem with what they have done and believe that it still produces the result that I would have expected from the larger can.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Wouldn't buy it myself

I bought this when I didn't have time to go to Boots & get FCUK and this was the only one from Lynx in this convenience store.

They say "there is nothing quite like the Lynx effect" and maybe that is true with this one as it's been around since 1995 and is most popular Lynx scents in the UK but I can't say it's my favourite to be honest.

Lynx, also known as Axe outside of the UK, has been around for 30 years so it makes me feel confident that's its a decent & also safe product to use, it's also part of the Unilever group which owns many other famous brands like Dove, Hellmans, Lux, PG Tips, Ben & Jerrys... I like it being part of a big group as it gives me confidence in the product.

The Lynx brand is catered & marketed towards the younger male and I can see why with it's newer scents but this one is catered in my opinion to older men, I know my dad likes this one although he likes some of the more modern ones too. I believe this once was his favourite though.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Fine for everyday, probably not for special occasions

Lynx body sprays have been around for years now and many young men won't remember a time when they weren't around. Me, I'm old enough to remember when a man only had three choices of how he smelled. He either smelled of Brut, of Old Spice or of sweat.

Lynx Africa has become a bit like the Brut of the modern day I guess, it's the body care range that a lot of young men first try out after progressing from Spider-Man or Spongebob (or whatever the character of the day is) shower gels. Lynx has the reputation of being an interim body spray that almost-men use before they grow up and find a proper fragrance that they like. But is that a fair analysis?

This Lynx Africa deodorant bodyspray comes in a 150 ml can which is, like many of Lynx's products, mostly jet black. This one has a few green and red stripes on it (maybe they're meant to be claw marks?) which bring to mind some African nations' flags. It also has an ingenious locking cap mechanism. Instead of a pop-off top it has a screw down section which is built in to the structure of the cap. When it's in the 'up' position you can't depress the spray button section of the plastic top, even though it's clearly visible. Turn the top of the can though and a plastic sleeve slides down to allow you to press the spray button. It's quite clever really.

The spray is quite a fine mist and not wet at all when it hits your body. It smells quite strongly initially but soon relaxes to a pleasant level that stays as a background smell all day. It's quite a musky, masculine smell but there are also tangy aromas of fruit in there too. If I were the pretentious presenter of a BBC2 wine program I might even say that I could detect a slight hint of chocolate in it also. But fortunately I'm not, so I'll just say that it smells just fine. It's not a subtle smell but it's pleasant, there's nothing offensive about it at all. It stops you smelling of man-sweat too, which has to be a good thing. And seeing as it's available in my local poundland for (unsurprisingly) a pound a can, it's reasonably priced as well.

There's nothing whatsoever wrong with this spray. It's like a baggy pair of jeans or a scraggy old t-shirt with the name of a young hard-rocking band on it. It's great for a certain time of your life and for later times too when you just don't care that much.

But you just know that at some point you'll feel the need to move on to other things.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I like it and buy it often for family :)

        **Price and Availability**

Lynx Africa Deodorant Body Spray is usually priced around £2.50 - £2.70 for a 150ml spray. It is widely available as probably the most popular and 'traditional' of the Lynx family of sprays, from corner shops to pharmacies to supermarkets. You can also pick up a Lynx Africa set which includes the body spray and a bottle of shower gel for around £5 - I'd say this was less good value because you can pick the shower gels up often for £1 in Wilkinsons, Boots and Supermarkets on offer, whereas the deodorants are rarely ever reduced or on offer apart from the occasional 2 for £5 offer.

        **Looks**

Like most Lynx sprays for men the tin is styled in black with a black plastic lid. The lid screws down to close the spray functionality for travel and then screws back up to pop up and be sprayed.

Lynx Africa Deodorant Body Spray is styled in red and green swirls and is easily identifiable. Lynx is called Axe outside of the UK but it is still easy to identify due to the colouring of the tin should you need to buy some when you are on holiday.

        **Use**

As Lynx Africa is a deodorant as well as a body spray my husband squirts it under the arms and a quick squizz around the body and job done. He uses it on the day to day for work and for popping to the shops, he would use an unscented deodorant and an aftershave for going out and formal occasions.

It's easy to use and he advises me that the deodorising properties last all day. The scent is a bright, lively and pleasant one with a hint of musk. It's probably a bit retro, now, but it's very popular nonetheless.

        **Overall**

Yes, I'd recommend Lynx Africa Deodorant Body Spray, it's slightly more expensive than a supermarket copy or own brand but my husband says the scent lasts all day whereas with cheaper sprays it disappears almost the moment you've stopped spraying. It's a well known brand, easy to get hold of, a nice little gift set to give and suitable really for all ages. Five out of five from me, you can't really moan :)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

a nostalgic fragrance, but i'm not sure i'd admit to wearing it

As you get older and you progress past lynx and onto the 'proper' fragrances, and 'real' aftershave you start to notice people wearing lynx and it smells so bad that you can't believe you used to wear it to. Of all the lnyx fragrances (all of which are ridiculously, overbearingly potent) africa is the only one I can remember possitively, everyone in the world seems to agree- Lynx Africa was the fragrance to own back in the day (and they still make it today).

It is the most noticable and memorable fragrance they have ever made. I have no idea what it smells of (chemical jungle?) but it's rather pleasant, slightly spicey, some wood tones and generally it smells way better than all the rubbish that makes up most 'sporty deo's'

The bottle has been through numerous redesigns, and although I much prefered the older rounded push/slide spray can's, these work well too, and are much harder to accidentally spray while in your gym bag.

Africa is a legendary fragrance that although isn't going to compete against fashion brand scents it comfortably defeats everything else lynx make and most other cheap deo's

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A cheap deodrant that beats most competition easily.

This has for long been my favourite deodorant from all the Lynx deodorants as it offers a distinct smell that is easily noticed as Africa, unlike most deodorant these days (they practically smell the same!).

I have been buying this deodorant for the past few years from just about everywhere sainsburys, Tesco, asda...... and the great thing is they all sell it for around the same price which hovers around 3 pounds. Which is great considering this is such a quality product that actually stays for a few hours after applying. I mainly buy the 150 ml can as it is the most practical of the lot.
However, I do tend to buy 3 or 4 at a time as deodorant does seem to run out very quickly.

I have bought the "bullet" version a few times but I do not understand how it is worth the money as it finishes in the blink of an eye without being "life lifesaving" AT ALL!!!!

Overall, the Lynx Africa deodorant will always be my favourite deodorant as it offers absolute value for money with a wonderfully refreshing scent.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Its nothing special, but somehow its still one of the best

Of all the lynx "flavors" this one has to be my most used. I was first introduced to lynx africa back in my spotty teenage years after being given the shocking drastic news that some deodorants actually smelled of something other than testosterone. One whiff of the smells on offer convinced me and though i much preferred the scents of pulse and dark temptation ( Back when it was know as chocolate), my friends encouraged me to get Africa for entirely teenage reasons. Lynx have been a long favorite of mine since that day.

        -Made in Africa?!?-
Africa comes in three main varieties; regular, dry and bullet. Dry is more of an antiperspirant than a deodorant and comes in a manly silver can and bullet is a teeny tiny version on the spray that can be taken with you in case you feel the need to become attractive at a moments notice. I feel the need to point out however, That hoards of women are yet to flock to my person upon use. Disappointing, but in the long run its for the best. It retails for approximately £2-4 making it available to most.

        -The smell-
The smell of lynx Africa is hard to describe. It has the warm manly testosterone like smell but unlike most other deodorants this one is a lot more subtly and soft on the nose. Its nothing special i have dubbed it the generic smell as it often seems that all other lynx flavors are based off this one. if i could compare the smell to anything the best i could really use is the combined smell of soap and aftershave. Personally i cant tell why its the most popular lynx fragrance but with that said nothing has stopped my buying this.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

If you are in need of some heavy-duty deodorant, this is perfect - maybe not an everyday scent.

I have grew up using Lynx deodorant, every morning I will go into my wardrobe and at random pick up one of the 10 or 11 different fragrances I have in my "Lynx Box" - yes, I actually have an entire box dedicated to lynx products (deodorants, antiperspirants, shower gels and even shampoos), - and spray myself for a couple of seconds to instantly make myself attractive to the opposite sex (At least this is what the adverts claim - I have a feeling this may be a bit of an exaggeration though, no girls have crawled out of an overturned bus for me... yet).

For those of you who may be interested to see this "Lynx Box", I have taken a photo just for you:
        http://i.imgur.com/evGcDMZ.jpg?1

The packaging of the deodorants seems to change pretty much yearly. The deodorant comes in a pretty standard metal cylindrical container as many deodorants do, from the cheap no-brand deodorants to the more expensive ones, therefore there is nothing really remarkable here which would make you want to purchase this over another. However, the main difference between this packaging and others is the twist top mechanism on top of the metal container. As the description suggests, this mechanism means that in order to reveal the button to initiate the aerosol dispersion, the user must twist the lid to reveal it. When untwisted, the button is completely level with the top of the lid and is also jammed meaning that there is no change of accidental dispersion in, for example, a bag. With traditional containers, such as you will generally now see on the un-branded deodorants, I always found myself opening up my karate bag to a very pleasant smell - this is definitely not what I expect to find and although this sounds good, it meant that my deodorant can was now empty without me wanting it to be.

Now, onto the fragrance of Africa in particular.
As in my title of this review, I see this particular fragrance as the classic, whenever I try to visualise (well... not visualise, but you know what I mean) Lynx, I go immediately to this one in particular, this is most likely due to it being one of their oldest fragrances but still amongst their best sellers. Everybody will have their own interpretations of this but this is mine. I see this as the most manly fragrance in the Lynx deodorant range, it is incredibly strong in comparison to some of their others and is by no means meant to be subtle, if you wear this or somebody else wears it, you will be able to tell no matter how little they use (within reason). I find it very hard to actually describe smells, but in my mind it smells a little like hairspray with an exotic twist - for this reason, this is actually one of my least favourite Lynx fragrances and it why you cannot see a bottle of it in my "Lynx Box". Do not get me wrong though, I do not dislike it and I would happily wear it if I had no others in my box, but if I had the choice between this and the majority of the other Lynx cans, I would go with the alternative.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A decent solution for your armpits!

          == Introduction ==
Firstly, I'm no connoisseur of deodorants, but then again who is? actually, with six billion people on this planet and with some of us as obsessive as we are, I'm sure there are some who live for deodorants! but alas, I'm not one of them, but I do own this one!

          == The Smell ==
Probably the most important thing heads-up I would imagine, is the smell; since this smell will be at the very least - partially - defining your daily odor.

So, does this smell nice? that's of course completely subjective but to me, yes!

It can be a little challenging to describe a smell, but I'll attempt to (I'm that audacious) by trying to pick a single word that best encapsulates this one; and, I'm going to go with 'musky'. There's some what of an Earthly tang to this spray but it's manly and pleasant.

          == The Effect/Protection ==
Does this spray effectively protect your armpits? as far as I have experienced, yes it does.

I use this spray after I get out of the shower and notice no sweat patches or bad smells oozing from the location of thou armpit hair'ian but then again, I never much did. I'm not the 'sweaty type' really; but I can say that this spray appears to effectively keep my armpits dry and 'of and aroma.

          == The Cost/Value ==
The cheapest I've seen this (Lynx Africa Spray) for is around £2. So you're going to be paying around that / upwards for a single can of it, or you can save money if you buy a pack.

I'm sure you could find cheaper deodorant but Lynx is a brand, and so you're partially paying for the history, the name and the quality of course. I personally think that 'you get what you pay for' does apply to many things, and I wouldn't want to be spraying cheap solution on MY skin! personally.

A single can of this deodorant seems to last quite a while and the one I have and of which I'm referring to and reviewing I believe, is 150ml. I'd say it's going to last you a few weeks.

          == Closing Statement ==
There's not too much to say about a can of deodorant and I only pretty much want something that smells fairly nice and does this job, and this ticks both boxes.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A nice smelling deodorant from lynx

My boyfriend was in need of some new deodorant, he was a bit fed up of his old deodorant (I forget what it was, some other lynx deodorant though) so next time we were at the shops we browsed the isles for something new and came across this.

This review is on africa lynx dry, not sure if its exactly the same as africa lynx but I'm assuming its very similar. The lynx africa dry comes in a silver 150ml metal can with a black lid. The lid is quite funky, instead of coming off the lid bit twists which pushes up the spray bit of the can. I guess this means that you can't lose the lid which might happen! The smell of the lynx is very nice, I think some lynx deodorants can smell horrible but this one is lovely. It is quite sweet smelling which might put some people off, but it does have that kind of "manly" smell to it as well, other wise it would be quite girly!

The instructions on the can suggest you shake it well, hold it about 15cm from your armpit and spray, pretty standard instructions for deodorant really. Obviously since this is an aerosol can it is highly flammable so no spraying it and lighting it! My boyfriend says the deodorant works well and tends to last him all day, he sometimes has to re-apply if he's been out working on his car or something but otherwise its fine.

The deodorant cost around £3 which is pretty standard for a brand name deodorant, if you want cheaper you can go for own brand. Overall I would recommend it based on the smell and my boyfriend would recommend it because it works well :)

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

works well as an efefctive deodorant and nice smell

I like my Lynx and I am a Lynx Man if there is such a thing. I like to receive my Lynx gift sets at Christmas and birthdays and I especially like the one called Africa. Africa seems to be the most popular choice amongst blokes and I know my other half says she prefers the smell oft his one to all the other ones I have tried over the years.

I usually use up my gift box sets quite quickly but when I run out my other half stocks up for me and gets me the deodorant and the shower gel which is what I use most often. The deodorant costs just under two quid for a 150ml bottle spray and it'll last me a good four weeks and I spray quite liberally, I have to as I have a lot of hairs under my arm pits and I find the spray just sticks to the hair and doesn't manage to actually get onto my skin unless I spray a lot of it. It has a powdery white finish to it but its not wet like a roll on and obviously is dry pretty much as soon as it has sprayed.
I like the black can as it looks masculine and there is also no way my other half would think of using this as its not feminine smelling in any way at all.

The smell is manly and my other half always says I smell good when I have just had a shower and I put this on. The smell doesn't last long though and that is a negative thing probably but I also use the shower gel and the after shave in the same range so this helps to keep the smell going all day.
The smell is heavily fraranced inthis deodorant and smells woody and strong and reminds me of what living in Africa might smell like, though I have never been there. It is kind to the skin and does not irritate it at all. It is refreshing to use and very soothing. It works well and lasts all day and I don't perspire all day long if I use this even on hot and humid days, so it is very effective as well as nie smelling.

          Thoroughly recommended.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

An amazing scent you can rely on!

This was one of the first cans of deodorant I ever used and I still stand by it to the day. I really do not like the scent that some modern deodorants give off nowadays. As with all of the products from Lynx the can design has changed significantly over the years. The can now features a handy twist top which means that the spray button is protected when in your bag etc...

As with most cans of deodorant application is very simple - Simply press the button on the top! There are also instructions on the back including the very important instruction: 'This is not food. Do not ingest.' !!!

The great thing about Lynx Africa is that the scent really is long lasting. I have applied it on several occasions early on in the day and still been able to smell its attractive aroma right into the night!

This product is very reasonably priced at just under £3.00 and can regularly be found on offer in different stores.

One word of warning though - I don't think it has quite the effect that the advert suggests where women will come at you from all angles!

Accept no limitations and smell the manly way nature should have intended!

Africa 150ml deodorant - body spray

The daylight hours are venturing into the time territory waters once occupied by darkness - well, since last year anyway. At the weekend 26-03-11 Greenwich Mean Time loses an hour out of our precious weekend; you notice it never happens on a Monday. This timely event also embarks on the dawning of extra sun-light hour (s) during the evenings and mornings (allegedly); for me, it is a time to peer into my musty scented bathroom cabinet and spy out canisters of antiperspirant. Not that I don't routinely cleanse my pits by applying a delicately scented roll-on, after getting a couple of un-savory morning whiffs; now the clocks impend to spring forward, a more robust heavy-weight is called for; Lynx Africa! It's the same for using an 'industrious' bin-liner rather than the frail kind that splits under the strain of holding the vicious corners of a packet of Coco Pops. If Lynx Africa was a bin-liner the coalition air-strikes wouldn't waste fire-power on liberating Libya - they will be dropping huge tents of bin-liners onto Gaddafi's forces, suffocating the mercenaries on impact.

Lynx Africa's industriousness is man enough to eradicate male odor, for at least a day. My testing of this product has been extreme, hardly a physical one, but a vigorous test of scent endurance; it involved two duvets, a thick T shirt, a dressing-gown, a light blanket, and leaving the heating on all night at 22 C - After eight hours having been cooked raw, and waking up decidedly cranky, that also added internal heat and moistness to the equation. I did the sniff test. Lynx Africa was putting up a valid defense against the onslaught of rebel body odor. With a deeper deliberating sniff - I gauged I has several hours of the Lynx Africa effect still left. As it was time for a refreshing early morning shower, I soaped away the relentless force of rebel body odor; and reapplied my arm-pits with three long pump action squirts of spicy, sweet Lynx Africa deodorant spray; guaranteeing me over 26 hours of scented pits. Although some ladies I've met, prefer full bodied pheromones instead.

            Canister blurb

On the cold, metallic canister in capitals it reads; 'directions: hold can 15cm from the body to spray' - This I find doesn't help with accuracy as the spray spreads out like a cluster bomb and in the past has completely missed the target due to being too amorous with the pump action and not engaging fully where the nozzle hole was? Being a happy Lynx Africa pump action user, several cluster bomb particles went into a 'no fly zone' i.e. my cake-hole. Err - Ingesting, not advisable; the Lynx effect doesn't go as far as solving halitosis problems. In fact on the canister the text reads; 'avoid direct inhalation'. But I suppose 'indirect' is fine, when it's been lingering about in air-space for a length of time. One of the biggest surprises for me is; 'do not spray on a naked flame or incandescent material'; or even start smoking directing after using the Lynx effect; so don't get too angry. This product is 'extremely flammable' and an orange label with a black flame is emblazoned on the canister, obviously Unilever (the product manufacturer) has tested its flammability - hence, the black flame. Good to know if you're planning a Lynx Africa canister clear-out, by lobbing them onto a bonfire that the colour of fire/smoke wouldn't be of florescent vividness, therefore masking your stupidity from neighbours; albeit their washing might smell nice down wind. Text also reads; 'Keep out of reach from children'. Not sure how that works, as the kids these days are taller than the adults.

As Lynx Africa is now sixteen years of age - not a pimple on its chrome surface - the product commenced its shelf-life career in 1995. It is deemed as an adult, and can legally start smoking; which it will, if left in direct UV light (sun) and reaches the temperature of 50 C; of course, without the aid of a shop corner, cigarette vendor. Right at the bottom of the scripted blurb is a comment about the canister being able to be recycled; 'Please recycle when empty'. Sadly canister technology can't inform the user whether it is 'empty' by a sign or an indicator; so a good ear and an energetic shake are called for.

            Twist & Shout!

Naturally, there is a fundamental flaw with Africa. The fact was, I was wrestling with the twist top for ten minutes - well only twist slightly, too unlock the nozzle plastic tag mechanism. The top part should lift up to unveil the headed nozzle. The plastic tag can be stubborn, so bare with the contraption. When the smaller in circumference, pump action, sigmoidal nozzle, sits at 1cm above its spherical parent, the antiperspirant is available for pumping squirts. Initially, it can be tricky to twist accordingly, so remember to check the nozzle is visible before pumping the head. Otherwise the deodorant spray will be collecting in the 'twist' head, leaking through the canister. If, like me, that is the case; refrain from eating sandwiches and doing handshakes straightaway. Over a several hours your pits or hands smell of caramelized vanilla; the undertone scent of 'Africa'.

The 'Africa' branding is immediately recognizable by the red and green, finger-painted lineages through the 'LYNX' chromed text, and centralized; resembling a Bauhaus styled erection by Walter Gropius. Available in Superdrug, Boots and mainstream odor orientated retail shops that make you convulse with a plethora of scents, in which abuses your nasal hairs. Lynx Africa is found at an affable fee of 2.79 GBP.

I've not yet tried it out with a bonus fresh spray, if going out at night, where ladies will be present. Day-time use only, for me; it is far safer. Night-time usage will inevitably get you in hot water. Females will pounce.©1st2thebar2011
