This particular variety of Lynx deodorant was one of the most popular fragrances in the range a few years ago and recently it was reintroduced to a good response from Lynx users. It is now one of their more popular current fragrances and I have bought it since it's come back. Recently Lynx introduced an XL size for their deodorants which is sold alongside the normal sized 150ml cans and they are also available in a new smaller sized can which is compressed to allow the same amount and use from a smaller can. The advertising campaign has featured a Space feel with Astronauts due to the name of the deodorant you might expect that it would contain something about space in the adverts.
This is a nice fragrance which is a mix of clary sage, quince and lavender. It has a fresh scent which feels clean and refreshing and works extremely well after a shower or bath using the Lynx Apollo shower gel or another of the shower gels in the range. It lasts pretty well for one of the cheaper deodorants on the market and will give you decent protection against odor and sweat, obviously the antiperspirant version will do that job better than the normal version but it depends on what you will use it for. The standard Lynx Apollo has a decent length of use and will smell very nice when applied to clean and washed skin. It works a treat.
I have used so many of the Lynx Deodorants over the years and this is one of my favourites. It is a quality scent which will last quite well and looks the part too. As it's a Lynx fragrance you will be able to find plenty of great deals in supermarkets and places like Boots, Wilkinson or Superdrug and I would recommend this fresh, clean scent for a younger male who likes crisp, clean scents that are quite light and distinctive. It's a solid product in my opinion and I would recommend it to anyone who likes similar scents. Why not give the tester a try. It just falls short of five stars as there is better out there if you spend a little more.
When I saw Lynx Apollo back on the shelves, I was rather pleased. This was one of my favourite Lynx fragrances during its original incarnation, due to its relative subtlety when compared to other fragrances. After a quick test squirt, I realised that I could no longer remember whether it was the same as the old one (the company say it is a different fragrance but it does seem similar to my memories of it.)
However, I was reassured that it still seemed a decent fragrance. Rather than smacking you in the face from 10 paces, as some of the fragrances do this was more fresh smelling, perhaps because of the mix of components. Interestingly, the company list that the main scent components are Clary Sage, Quince and Lavender (which they misspell lavander!) My memory associates lavender with my Nan's fragrance preference, so I may not have tried this scent had I seen the advertising beforehand. However, this is certainly not present in any dominant strength. Indeed, upon spraying the deodorant, you get the initial slightly chemically smell common to many sprays, which quickly fades to leave a blend which is, to my untrained nose, not dominated much by any one ingredient. The clary sage is discernible to me but that may be due to the fact that this is also a component in my most regularly used bubble bath. It is not overpowering, as sage can be, but blends well to produce the clean, fresh scent. I am not a fan of musky fragrances, so this was one for me.
Another selling point for me was that I was able to get 2 of the slightly smaller canisters for £5 from Tesco on one of their regular offers, which made it a reasonable proposition. In my experience, this deodorant only requires a reasonably short burst to get a decent coating of the scent and I find that the cans last longer than some cheaper alternatives.
This was all without me even seeing the obligatory over-the-top advertising for the "new" fragrance. The usual Lynx approach is to appeal to male stereotypical values and is always more amusing than bearing any link to reality. However, this advertising campaign also features an intriguing competition in that one lucky customer will end up winning a journey to space. If nothing else, this will generate a lot of publicity for the company and fragrance as the competition moves towards lift-off.
