I bought this whilst I was working away in Greece and I was first attracted to the bottle design, its very sexy looking and looks good quality.
They say "there is nothing quite like the Lynx effect" and that is quite true with this one, one of many in the Lynx bodyspray and shower gel family.
Lynx, also known as Axe outside of the UK, has been around for 30 years so it makes me feel confident that's its a decent & also safe product to use, it's also part of the Unilever group which owns many other famous brands like Dove, Hellmans, Lux, PG Tips, Ben & Jerrys... I like it being part of a big group as it gives me confidence in the product.
The Lynx brand is catered & marketed towards the younger male and I can see why with this one, the bottle is design is sexy & stylish. It combines the hints of chocolate and whipped cream to create an irresistible fragrance, this makes it seem a bit kinky too in a way.
Would highly recommend to feel sexy and fresh for a day or night out.
Mrs Ginger tends to pick these up when they are on a deal as they are a bit pricey, but as my teenage lad thinks they are a shower in a can, you can never have too many around.
Personally I like the smell - I cannot vouch for the claimed pheromone like attraction that Lynx "suggest" in their subtle ads, but maybe it's my face! Seriously, this is a pretty fresh scent and not too overpowering like some of them are.
I think this is supposed to be a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant as well - I recently sat a 2 hour exam and despite a liberal application of this stuff, by pits were still dripping half way through, although the scent of the Lynx masked any "nastiness" so my fellow candidates could be grateful for that.
The Lynx tin design is good with the twist top - stops it going off in your suitcase when travelling and setting of a sweet smelling "security incident"
Compared to the 7 other we have on the shelf, this is my fave - go on - knock yourself out and buy a couple!!
I always get my hubby Lynx Africa for Christmas / Birthdays and so on so as a change I got him the Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray set which came with a shower gel and cost around £5. You can buy Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray on it's own in a 150ml spray can for around £2.60.
The Lynx Lynx Dark Temptation comes in a black can like all Lynx sprays do but this one has accents of gold (unlike the photo which seems to be purple, which is Lynx Excite). It has a twist up and down lid in black plastic which reveals / hides a spray button.
The mist given by the spray is good, not wet and it doesn't drip like some cheaper aerosols can. It also lasts, too, you on a daily spray a 150ml can will last you a month.
The problem for me is the smell, I really don't like it. Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray smells like.. well, rank. It actually smells sweaty, which is a real problem for a body spray! I think it smells musty a bit like clothes which haven't dried properly on the radiator. I really don't like it, or the shower gel, either. My husband used this for the month and once it was used up I was so glad to throw the empty can away, I won't be buying it for him again or recommending it as a gift to him from my family, either.
So, overall I really cannot recommend Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray, it just doesn't smell nice. My husband didn't mind it as much, but he did find it a bit too musky for him, so it is probably an element of personal taste in there but for me I really dislike it and it's the only Lynx spray I've ever really strongly found unpleasant, all the others are fairly nice.
I will have to award Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray 1 star out of 5 because of this - maybe if you've not smelled it you could give it a spray in the shop but really there are so many nice Lynxes I would just opt for one of those.
My partner uses this deodorant regularly and whenever I run out of my own deodorant I use this until I get to the shops to buy more (I'd rather smell like a man than just plain smell).
Most people have probably heard of the Lynx brand before as they are very popular for their range of deodorant and shower products.
This particular lynx spray is supposed to smell like chocolate, hence the name dark temptation and Lynx say "Lynx dark temptation is designed to stir the female desire for all things chocolate" as with most of their products this one is marketed as having the ability to turn any man into a bit of a lady magnet which is a bit cheesy really!
I have purchased this product in Asda, where it is available on it's own or as part of a set. A normal can will cost you £2.89 and a mini can will cost you £1.12 (the mini one is currently on offer at 3 for £3). There is a gift set which is a trio set with a full size spray, shower gel and an anti-perspirant for £8.
The spray isn't the cheapest, but it's not too bad and it works out at a good value if you buy it as part of a set.
This product is available easily on the high-street and I have found that the price can vary up to £1 cheaper or more expensive than the asda prices.
The deodorant comes in a spray can that is in black and brown colours with some swirly designs on it. The can is quite chunky and features a twist down cap rather than a pull down lid.
I quite like the packaging, it is a bit different and so it does stand out on the shelf next to other brands of body spray. The colours and design of the can fit well with the name of the product.
Using the product
Like any body spray it's easy to use, you just open it up and spray over your body! The twist up design of the lid confused me the first time I had used this but it's not difficult to open.
I do smell a bit like a bloke when I use this as it is made for men, it does smell much better on my partner who likes it enough to use it every day. He always chooses the dark temptation rather than a different scent of spray and I do prefer the smell of this one over other types of Lynx. It doesn't smell exactly like chocolate, but there is defiantly a hint of dark chocolate in the smell and the smell seems to last well.
My and my partner are both prone to rashes but this body spray has not causes any problems for either of us.
I would recommend this product as it smells good and lasts well which is exactly what you want a body spray to do!
I like to use deodorant most days but I can't say I have a favourite brand or type of smell. However I do like Lynx because the smells are normally very nice and they don't sting at all, unlike some of the cheaper versions. I can also find some in the back of cupboards where they have been for months and they still work and smell just as good. At around £2.50 you are paying quite a bit for the name and there are others, especially supermarkets own brands, that generally do just as good a job for a lower price.
I had never used Lynx Dark Temptation and had not even smelt it but it was intrigued as to whether the chocolate smell would work or not. I my opinion it doesn't. It does smell like chocolate but I found it is too overpowering and too strong to use as a deodorant. It might work better it smaller amounts but when you use it under your arms and over your body it is just too much. Like all Lynx products it does the job it is supposed to do, it keeps you dry, and if you like the smell it does last.
I have found most of the Lynx smells are generally very nice and aren't overpowering. This one is far too strong for a deodorant. It all comes down to personal preference but I would suggest trying it out before you buy it.
In true Crimbo style, I received the usual array of 'smellies' from family members doing their Christmas shopping the night before in Boots. One such toiletry gift was the Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray and Shower Gel set.
Lynx have always been quite innovative when it comes to body sprays and with this body spray they have really have pushed the boat out. Coming with the strap line of 'with the effect of chocolate' it is supposed to be the smell of tempting chocolate. I guess the thinking behind it is that women love chocolate so they will not be able to resist you if you smell of chocolate. Personally, I find women can't resist the smell of chloroform and an old oily rag, but Lynx have yet to bring that one out.
As this was a gift and part of a pack I cannot vouch personally for how much was paid for the gift pack, but a quick google (and who doesn't like a quick google first thing in the morning?!?) will tell you that Tesco price this at 3.80 for the 200ml body spray, whilst on Amazon, the price is 2.79. Boots have this at 3.05.
The spray comes in a black metal container with a black cap that you twist to be able to spray. The colours are black, gold and a dark brown - all quite befitting the name of the product
Oh dear... what an awful smell. I really do question what chocolate this is based on because I have yet to smell chocolate like this. It's a musty, overpowering smell that actually makes you smell worse than if you had not applied the spray in the first place. It's a kind of old chocolate bar smell... the sort of smell that might come from an out-of-date chocolate bar found at the back of a cupboard in a spring clean. I did not like the smell at all and most importantly, neither did my fiancé; a woman who simply loves chocolate!
To really test this out and give you consumers a thorough testing of the product, I tried this under 'sweaty' conditions and under no exercise conditions.
During exercise this product failed miserably. The already musty smell did nothing to combat any sweat smells and actually made the overall smell far worse and a little embarrassing. The spray fared marginally better under non-sweaty conditions but still the awful smell of rotting chocolate prevailed.
Terrible idea and terrible product. The thinking behind this must be questioned. Women like chocolate so make a spray smelling like chocolate - in that case men like beer and kebabs - so make a female body spray smelling like that!. Nothing about this works - overpriced, overpowering and overly horrible. I can safely say I will not use this product ever again and would rather rub a KitKat under my arms than use this again, in fact rubbing a cat, dead or alive, under my arms would create a better smell and induce more attraction.
Lynx - You got it very wrong this time!
If the advertising is to be believed Lynx is the most irresistible deodorant man can possess. Well I don't think that's true but I really don't know of a better brand of deodorant on the market, this is one of the brands newer fragrances and it really should mention that this smell is based around chocolate, as this is something that could either have a really strong effect on whether you want to buy it or not.
Available for £1.99 from any decent supermarket or from chemists, I have found that the best place to buy them is Asda or Tesco as both sometimes have 2 for 1 deals on these meaning each can costs 99p each.
I find that generally one 150ml spray lasts for roughly 3 weeks, it is dark black with a brown chocolate logo which is one of the least appealing of the lynx range, the spray element has a twist to it, you need to twist the top to display the spray nozzle and then spray, this may have been designed for child safety or to avoid people simply wasting the spray, by spraying it in their eyes, either way its a decent innovation that I really appreciate.
The deodorant has an aromatic spicy scent which is followed by an afterthought of dark chocolate, from most people I know this has had mixed reviews, many have asked what the deodorant is to ensure they don't buy it as it is too strong, others have found it to be something which grows on you, personally I agree with the latter, it has a strong smell which does stay with you and it kind of evolves and is really nice after a short while.
This is a fragrance for colder days when you need invigorating and isn't so suited to the warmer weather, it is well thought out, mature and suits me at the moment.
Prices vary with a can costing almost £3 in Boots and available through offers fairly often in the supermarkets, there are also bullet cans which are small portable versions to store in a suit, these are really good and give you a chance to test the product and have it available for any potential need whilst out and about.
In my stocking at Christmas I got a spray can of the Dark temptation variety of the LYNX deodorant body spray. I am a big fan of lynx products and usually love their rich, long lasting and attractive fragrances. This particular variety comes with the strap-line "with the effect of chocolate".
The deodorant comes in an attractive black can with a modern brown and gold shiny design on the front and the LYNX branding. The cap of the can is quite an innovative design: it consists of a protective plastic collar which you have to twist by a quarter turn in order to reveal the spray nozzle. When the collar is up, the top cannot be depressed which is handy if you want to transport the product in a bag because it means that it cannot be accidentally be sprayed due to something lying against the top or whatever. When the collar is down you simply press one side of the top and the spray comes out the hole at the opposite side. The directions on the can suggest you hold the can 15cm away from your body when you spray.
I like the scent of this product. It is a characteristically rich fragrance that I have come to expect from LYNX products. It has a sweet, musky scent with a hint of the chocolate scent suggested by the product. (The can sees it necessary to display the disclaimer that "this is not a food, do not ingest" for this reason! The scent is quite calming and something I would associate more with the evening or night-time than with early in the morning when I like a fresher, more invigorating scent to wake me up. This would be ideal for a night out for example. The scent lasts for a long time as well which means you do not have to constantly reapply it throughout the day/evening.
LYNX products do tend to be more expensive than many deodorant brands, especially store brands, and this can is currently available from boots for £2.91. I think this is a fair price and will continue to use this and other LYNX deodorants because I find they work well and have scents which I love.
Thank you for reading. Review may also appear on Ciao.
I'm getting right into this writing about what's in my cupboard lark. Unfortunately i'm sure sooner or later going to run out of products, or end up buying more things to write about and that defeats the purpose of earning more money doesn't it?
There was a lot of press with this Lynx fragrance. I think there was more than this one out at the time, and I remember the advert where is seemed to indicate Chocolate, but a Chocolate Body Spray would be a bit odd - wouldn't it?
This comes in the usual 150ml tins with the black colouring and the large plastic twisty lid. I would have thought the colouring on this would have been brown, but it is a very light yellow kind of colouring.
This doesn't seem to be on offer much, but it can often be found for around the £2 mark in our local Savers, instead of the £2.50 usual price.
This smelt nice enough, but not the smell I would have thought it to be. It didn't smell like Chocolate, but there was a kind of Food type of smell in this. Hard 1 to describe, but I would say it is a Ginger kind of scent. It is a deeper kind of scent so keeping with the name of Dark Temptation, it isn't altogether bad, it's just that bit odd. I would say it is a smell you either like or hate.
The smell lasts a good lenght of time as well, and although the smell seems a bit strong when you first spray it, when it settles down it is a nice enough smell.
This is the middle of the road for me, and I will keep to using this now and again.
I reviewed a Linx spray recently and this is a brand I love to wear for casual days or for work, it is a cheap enough spray to use and it smells nice too and for the price of this brand, it cannot be beaten for my liking and I bought 2 of these recently from Asda on special offer, and they were priced at 2 for £5, and so I just could not buy them as I use these all the time on a regular basis and I always know they are going to be a good value spray.
I often have these bought for me as gifts at Christmas time as my family know I use them a lot and I always run out of them so quickly too, this one comes in a can which has a nice design and it looks nice in the bathroom and stylish for the cheap price.
The smell is nice and it sprays very easy from the can and little effort is needed with this one, the smell is not too strong or over powering and it is nice for day or evening, it is a good size of 150ml and I think it is good for both men and women as my wife often uses it, and she loves the smell too.
This spray sits on the skin nicely, it gives it a nice smell for a very long time too, and it is good for the under arms, it keeps me nice and dry and very fresh for a lot of hours, without a top up, it does not make marks on my clothing etc and it works a treat in the summer months when it is hotter too.
This is a spray with a difference, it is a combination of chocolate, frozen ginger, black sage, whipped cream, pear sorbet, and coriander and it does have a little smell of these ingredients but not so much that it is a sickly smell, it is a mild one but very pleasant.
It is kind of like an aroma of sweet ingredients and it is a sweetish smell, hence the name dark temptation but I do not smell of a chocolate box with this one lol.
I would say this one probably is one that some people may not like because of the sweet smell, but I like it a lot, because I have a sweet tooth and do not mind the sweet smell at all, but it is worth the money and very good value and the quality of the spray is a very good one.
I rate it 5 stars and I will buy it again in the future as it was one I like with a difference and a quality brand.
I have had this deodorant for quite a while and use it when I come home from university. It's really unique and although a bit weird at first, it's actually quite nice! When I'm spraying on another deodorant, unless it's Lynx Dark Temptation, I do tend to miss the smell, it's addicting! I'm not sure how it smells to others when you're wearing it, but I quite like putting it on as it still has an attractive and deodorant-like scent.
The deodorant comes in a 150ml can, which will cost just under £2.50 in most supermarkets. It's definitely a more premium price than other deodorants, but the whole Lynx range seems to be like this!
I really like the design of the can. It has a black background with a chocolate brown and beige smooth design on the front by the Lynx logo. Just above on a narrower part of the tin is the Dark Temptation title. There are loads of directions for use and ingredients and other information on the back in gold writing. The whole colour scheme makes this one look quite elegant. The design of the cap is what I love most! You give the top plastic part a twist anti-clockwise to reveal the spray nozzle as the bit you twist descends to reveal it. This also exposes and activates the spray button.
The spray button is nice and large and gives out a really nice wide stream of deodorant. I'm not so sure that this is an anti-perspirant too but it certainly helps to prevent me from smelling of body odour. The scent of this deodorant is really unique - you would have never smelt something like it before! It has a slightly masculine spice to it, but then the addition of a chocolately scent. This chocolate scent isn't too strong however, so when it's on it smells pretty standard like most other deodorants.
One can of 150ml worth will last me quite long with daily use - a good month. You can purchase this at most supermarkets including Tesco and Asda as well as places like Boots. It's really unique and I'd recommend trying it just for the experience! It's not the cheapest however, and places like Poundland seem to stock 'rip-offs' of the Lynx range, but they definitely aren't as potent or long-lasting.
Thanks for reading!
Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray
Lynx is a brand that's been around for years. Did you know the brand is called Axe is other countries? I always find it funny how they name some brands elsewhere. No matter what's it called, I like the Lynx products, but if the Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray is one to use?
Lynx has quite a range of products and these days it shows adverts on television where you see the man getting women by using this product. Well I don't know if that's a plus or negative, because I imagine it would be quiet annoying having a group of women running behind you every day. So no, it never happened to me or anyone else that I know.
Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray doesn't really stand out from the other deodorants with its colour, but it does a nice brown chocolate design on the can. The background is black and the can has some product information with the product name. The new can that Lynx have been using now is really nice and handy. This screw cap on the can prevents you for spraying per accident or that the can will leak in your bag. It's easy to use.
Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray should make you smell like chocolate. I thought that was just a really weird smell, but wanted to try it anyway since the commercial looked really good actually. I wouldn't say it smells really nice chocolate, but it has a really sweet dark scent to it. When you spray the deodorant on you, the scent is quiet strong, but weakens to more a soft scent. If it prevents me from actually sweating? Well I didn't really test it by going running or something, but I like the Lynx products and think they are good preventing sweating. I never really sweat a lot and I still smell nice.
Lynx Dark Temptation Body Spray is really one I would recommend I you like a really sweet scent. I won't choose this one again, because I'm more a favourite of the fresh menthol scent, but it's not bad either. It does make you smell nice and it does prevent you from sweating I think. The spray is very friendly to my skin and it never irritates, which is really important. But if it's really a nice fresh scent for the summer? I don't really think so.
Lynx dark temptation is by far my favourite lynx deodorant scent, its sweet and smells nice, and as well as dark temptation is also known as lynx chocolate.
The can the deodorant come in is pretty impressive in itself, it's a really nice brushed aluminium can, with a really nice black and brown swirly design on their which glimmers in the light, so if the smell of the deodorant was anything like the can it comes in I knew I was in for a good surprise.
And the smell was even better than I could of expected really, its something that I haven't come across before, a totally unique scent, a really sweet but not sickly smell, which actually lasts as I can put some of this on in the morning and still have people comment that I smell good later on in the day.
The deodorant isn't that cheap though, being lynx it costs usually about £2.50 a can and there not the biggest of cans either, though you can make them last a while usually and its definitely worth it for the lovely smell, I'm just glad I got a fair few lynx sets for Christmas now.
Lynx Dark Temptation is the, perhaps somewhat controversial, 'chocolate deodorant'. And rather than have this as a subtle ingredient it is the source of the advertising campaign, you may well have seen the chocolate man lynx advert. This chocolate man is, of course, irresistible to women. I don't know what exactly the boys in the ideas sector of Lynx were thinking when this idea was formulated or why whoever suggested it wasn't laughed out of the board room meeting. The logic is obviously because women like chocolate they will be attracted a man that smells like chocolate which is frankly ridiculous logic. I think if I was a woman and I found my date turned up stinking of chocolate bars I would probably be infinitely more perplexed than aroused.
The design of the Lynx cans has always been excellent and Dark Temptation is no exception. The suave metal can is topped with a twist spray nozzle which prevents any accidental spraying when in transit or when fumbling in the bathroom cabinets. The graphics are also always very contemporary and look achingly stylish which is probably one of many factors in it's large popularity within the teenage boys. (A probably larger factor is it's advertisements that promote it's ability to attract women without fail).
The actual scent is very odd. As you would expect it has a sweet aspect to it, there's a fruity, flowery hint to it also without it smelling too much like a perfume and of course the dry alcoholic stench makes it smell as manly as a can of petrol. The 'chocolate deodorant' smells surprisingly little like chocolate, not even chocolate ina jar of pot pourri. I did some research and discovered that infact this deodorant does not contain chocolate but rather it contains caramel. Which surely means it just contains sugar? I'm no confectionist. But Dark Temptation is a surprisingly standard Lynx scent. It's inoffensive, light and sweet smelling. And I have a feeling that this chocolate deodorant malarky is all just a gimmick...
After first seeing the advert for a chocolate man, I decided to give this new Lynx deodorant a try, having already though very highly of their other scents, particularly Africa and Click. I got it for about £2.50 at my local supermarket, which I thought was a little pricier than the other brands like Rightguard, considering the size of the can. One can will normally last me 2-3 weeks, which is fair enough, only the price is around 50p more than Rightguard, and you get 100ml less.
However, despite the price tag I really liked this new lynx scent, and with all of their deodorants I have never had a problem with white marks being left on my skin or clothes. With Rightguard and Adidas' sprays, they have normally left white marks on my clothes even when spraying from far away.
The packaging and design of the cans is also really attractive. The black, brown and gold colourings all go really nice together and stand out among others on the shelves. The twisting top and push down spray button are also unique to the Lynx brand and really do help to do the price some justification.
The smell itself is quite refreshing and does smell quite like chocolate to me. Some people have said that the smell is overpowering, but I have not really found it too bad, unless of cause you spray a large amount. Lots of people do recognise the smell when I wear it which I guess is good. So far unfortunately though I have not turned into a chocolate man and no ladies have yet tried to eat me or break of part of my arm, so maybe I should claim my money back for false advertising? ...
In comparison with the other sprays Lynx have produced, this one really does hit the spot and is my personal favourite, and I have continued to buy this even now. Like other Lynx sprays, the only thing that would put me off buying them again would be the price, however for the quality of the deodorant and the nice aroma of scents, it is a real winner. Combining women's two favourite things - Men and more importantly CHOCOLATE will always be a winner.
