Lynx Deodorant in General:
I have grew up using Lynx deodorant, every morning I will go into my wardrobe and at random pick up one of the 10 or 11 different fragrances I have in my "Lynx Box" - yes, I actually have an entire box dedicated to lynx products (deodorants, antiperspirants, shower gels and even shampoos), - and spray myself for a couple of seconds to instantly make myself attractive to the opposite sex (At least this is what the adverts claim - I have a feeling this may be a bit of an exaggeration though, no girls have crawled out of an overturned bus for me... yet).
For those of you who may be interested to see this "Lynx Box", I have taken a photo just for you:
The packaging of the deodorants seems to change pretty much yearly. The deodorant comes in a pretty standard metal cylindrical container as many deodorants do, from the cheap no-brand deodorants to the more expensive ones, therefore there is nothing really remarkable here which would make you want to purchase this over another. However, the main difference between this packaging and others is the twist top mechanism on top of the metal container. As the description suggests, this mechanism means that in order to reveal the button to initiate the aerosol dispersion, the user must twist the lid to reveal it. When untwisted, the button is completely level with the top of the lid and is also jammed meaning that there is no change of accidental dispersion in, for example, a bag. With traditional containers, such as you will generally now see on the un-branded deodorants, I always found myself opening up my karate bag to a very pleasant smell - this is definitely not what I expect to find and although this sounds good, it meant that my deodorant can was now empty without me wanting it to be.
Lynx Fever Fragrance:
From what I remember, this fragrance came out in about 2007/2008 and instantly became my favorite. If I am doing a deodorant shop and this is on the shelves, I always get at least one of these no matter what else is available. I just love it!
It is a fruity fragrance, much more so than any other Lynx deodorant. The bottle says it is a Brazilian orange scent but to me it seems like a mix of many tropical fruits. It is a very lively choice and also quite a strong and bold scent, you and other people can definitely tell that you have it on no matter how much you use - not really a fragrance if you just want a subtle top-up. The generally lasts all day, if I put it on in the morning, I can still smell it on me at night although it is obviously much more subtle than before. This is a nice change from some other Lynx deodorants which I feel can be a bit short lived e.g. Lynx Click.
Following the successful and well thought out advertising campaigns that Lynx have deployed on the British consumer it is now expected the their antiperspirants are of the highest quality, and Fever certainly lives up to the hype.
The can is as noticeable as ever and I particularly like the bright summer look of the can. Lynx have not been tempted to stick to the ice cool theme that is consistantly adopted by other companies. To me styling is all about pushing the boundaries and that is what Lynx have done. However my only criticism comes about the name which has undoubtable conitations of an illness. I appreciate the fact that it is meant to be symbolic of a party and a fever pitch atmosphere but on a rainy English day ones mind seems to imagine something not as pleasant! This would certainly not put me off buying the product as it does have many positives and at the end of the day you must ask yourself what you buy an antiperspirant for?
The ingredients list is considerable as with any other modern antiperspirant and allergie sufferers may wish to look at the following list: alcohol denat, butane, isobutane, propane, parfum, propylene glycol, polyaminopropyl biguanide stearate, citral, limonene, linalool. The antiperspirant comes with all of the normal warnings and usage guidance and it is also worth noting that like many if not all of its competitors it is classed as extremely flammable.
The Lynx brand is owned by the retail giant Unilever who have gained my considerable trust and respect due to their openness on problems and complaints. A free conatact number (0800 585204) is included on the can as well as how to contact them by post for customers in both the UK and Ireland.
The fever spray seems to be iconic of the route that the Lynx brand has taken as a whole, it is now innovative modern snappy and does the job that it sets out to do perfectly, worth the money.
I have always been a fan of lynx body frangrance and wash, as far as I'm am concerned the range of lynx products are by far the best for mens grooming. With such brilliant frangrances as lynx africa, pulse and click.
However I feel lynx have come up short on their lynx fever fragrance.
I bought this frangrance when it was new on shelves hoping to be again pleasently suprised from lynx however I was very wrong.
First of all the frangrance has a very sweet aroma about it which makes for a sickly smell, and too be honest I did not want to walk around all day having to smell it. And I am also sure if I was in a club a girl would not be speaking to me too often if I smelled like an orange.
Another thing is that if you have been sweating just a little bit, this stuff makes it smell a whole lot worse, sweat mixed with lynx fever will equal a horrible smell stained into the fabric of your clothes leaving for an embaressing time if anyone was to smell you.
I do enjoy lynx fragrances but unfortunatley, this one is not for me.
At first glance, Lynx Fever tells you exactly what kind of fragrance it is, with its furiously luminous orange and yellow design. It also gives you a clue with the smell claiming to contain 'Brazilian Orange Essence' - Its not found in the ingredients. It is incredibly sweet and tangy resembling a super sugary energy drink (Relentless Inferno to be precise) with a strong sickly smell of citrus orange. Since it isn't a particularly masculine scent, one can expect mixed results from both sexes. It really depends on whether you want to smell sharp and fruity, no pun intended, or if you prefer a strong eye watering stench, in which case, this is the former. The smell is light but manages to cling on for a while, unless you go through some rigorous activities and work up a sweat. You get a decent amount in the can but you do need to use quite a bit.
This scent comes in the twist and press can for a bit more protection. It stands out with its vibrant colours but still matches the Lynx design, with a black top and silver fonts. It can be found between 2 and 5 pounds, with better results online (Amazon, eBay etc). Overal the smell is a step to close to being a feminine fragrance and could probably get away with being a unisex deodorant. I kind of like it, but I wouldn't really wear it as my main antiperspirant or for special occasions. Its hit or miss whether you or someone else would like it.
- Deodorant Bodyspray - with Brazilian Orange Essence
Well hello folks, its me again! The Hairy One back to review another of my favourite products, and oh boy do I have a biggy here for you today... product I mean!!!
You see I came by this stuff completely by accident. Literally it just happened, but ever since that fateful day I have been hooked.
Let me tell you a story...
I have been with my girlfriend now for 6 months. We moved in together on 31st August 2009. Everythings great. Except one thing. A big thing. Which is absolutely killing me inside.....
... I'm lying to her.
... But for a very good reason.
Why I bought it
OK I'm lying to her. As far as I see it, its not a big lie, and its something I'm working on so very very hard so I don't have to lie anymore, but let me explain why I have to...
My girlfriend is adoreable, we get on so well, life has been so good since I met her. When we first met, we talked quite a bit about our likes and dislikes and it transpired that the one thing she hates most in the whole wide world is smokers....
... I smoke.
I am trying very very hard to give it up - have been since I first met her in March. But as any smoker will tell you it is very very very hard. I have discussed this with Sarah, but unfortunately she seems to have the brain cells of a budgie and just can't comprehend this. As much as I've told her I am trying so hard... so hard I'm left in tears sometimes, her attitude is... "It's easy, just dont do it. Stop making excuses".
But it really isn't that easy.
And so I am forced to lie to her. On a small scale admittedly. Thankfully.
But its killing me now, I have to focus my mind even further and just do this for her. If I do nothing else for her, I just have to do this and very very fast now.
And so it happened like this...
Firstly you need to understand that this started before we moved in together. Way before we moved in together, but this theme has continued.
I had been smoking all day at work, stupid I know for someone who is trying so hard to give up, but stressful situations call for desperate measures. So there you have it, I had been puffing away like a chimney all day, not expecting to see my beloved until the weekend.
Oh yea and one other thing you need to know about me... I absolutely hate letting people down. i.e. saying no.
And so during the afternoon, I receive a text message, from Sarah, along the lines of "Hello darling, how are you? Wondering if you fancy a drink straight after work tonight? I'm missing you and really want to see you"
Panic set in... what do I do? I've been smoking all day, I've tried spraying myself over with sprays before but they just don't hide the smell well enough, but at any rate I don't have any, and at least if I did, it might hide it just enough for her not to realise.
(in case you are wondering why I have to hide it, the last time she found out I had been smoking (and it was a desperate time, I smoked right in front of her) I only had one cigarette and she went into one for over a week over a silly little thing like one cigarette)
In hindsight I should have replied and said I was already doing something, but sadly I was too much in love to do that, so I (like a fool) replied, "I would love to"
The moment I sent it I went quiet.
I had no sprays or aftershave with me at work (having run out on the previous occasion), was not satisfied that they hide it enough anyway, and at the same time knew I had an emergency situation on my hands here.
And so in desperation I thought I would wander down to the off licence (its just a few hundred yards from where I work) for some chocolate to focus my mind.
This is where it gets weird
The last thing you expect an off licence to sell is deodorant. But for some reason (paranoia?) the first thing I spotted when I walked in the door was a row of deodorants on a shelf behind the counter.
"There is a god!"
I thought!I chose the brightest one I could see and bought it... just one.
Never had it before, didn't expect much to be honest, but still, I had this bright orange can of smelly stuff in my pocket with which I had the challenge of hiding my smoky smell. impossible I thought....
The Spray Test
So I got back to the office and proceeded in spraying this stuff methodically over every square inch of my suit in a desperate attempt to cover my wrongdoings. 10 minutes later the office smelt like a boys changing room just after a swimming lesson!!! I drew furious glances from some colleagues, bemused looks from others but to be honest I had only one thing on my mind. Not losing Sarah!
I left work for the evening, still very conscious that I might still smell (I had already brushed my teeth). On my way past reception, I asked Sandra if I could ask her a question without offending her...
"Whats that" she said...
... "Could you just sniff me please"
The look on her face changed from her normal look to an "oh christ I have a pervert on my hands" kind of look, but I managed to reassure her by explaining that I didnt want to smell of smoke and could she just take a quick sniff and see if she can detect any smoke (after all, the best person to ask is a non-smoker!)
And so she sniffed me up and down (politely!) and then said something I thought my ears would never hear....
... It smells gorgeous...
That was not what I was expecting at all! I expected her to say that I still smelt like a chain smoker and that you cannot hide it from a girl. But she said the complete opposite, and this is a woman I trust. I admit that all I could smell was this delicious orangey smell, but I am also aware that I am a smoker so may not detect the smell of smoke as much as someone else might do.
Brazilian Orange Essence - What is that? who cares! Never heard of it before, and I only bought the spray by chance when I was in the Off Licence. And I only chose it because of its bright orange colour. Just goes to show how bright colours can market a product all by itself!
yes kind of. I really don't know how to explain the smell but yes it is indeed quite orangey, but in a pleasant way rather than in a bitter fruity kind of way. It also has some kind of vanillary smell to go with it.
One thing I will warn you is that the smell is very sweet and very strong. Although I usually use a can at a time so yes I suppose it will smell quite strong to me!
The can is pretty standard, much like any other Lynx can with their special twist top made of plastic and their distinctive livery spread across the can. As with all Lynx cans I love the cartoon on the back. Obviously I can't replicate that here but I can translate the pictures into words...
... Lynx + Mans body = Women
Just exactly what I need! My cup runneth over!
Actually I have eyes for one woman and one woman only... Sarah. Thats why I really owe my relationship to Lynx because without it I would have been doomed some time ago.
And after that first time?
Christ! I became addicted! I absolutely love the stuff, way before I've run out I buy more, I just love it (the pictures prove this), finally Lynx have created not only a scent that I absolutely love, but a spray that I have gone back to purchase again and again and again.
But how can I get my hands on some of this?
The shop dumbo! most shops seem to sell it. Boots currently have it on offer, 2 for £4
Hmm... i wonder if the priory offers sessions for Lynx addiction?
Please don't use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
Alcohol Denat., Butane, Isobutane , Propane, Parfum, Propylene Glycol, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide Stearate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool
Oh and just one other word of warning...
Use this stuff in a ventilated area and please
Don't want you blowing yourselves up!
I like to smell nice and fresh when I have had a shower or bath and I like to freshen up too along the day and have a top up sometimes and I bought this deodorant body spray for only £2.70 for 150ml and is in a nice can that has a twist top and it is easy to use too.
The smell is a very pleasant one and it has a very nice manly fragrance to it and it has a hint of orange but the orange is not too strong a smell, it is more of a softer manly one and not at all feminine for my liking.
It is easy to spray from the can and only a little is needed and it keeps me nice and dry for a very long time indeed, I use it over my body too for an extra smell but I do not over use it as I think it can be too much sometimes and I use this as a every day spray and deodorant and it works very well for my liking and suits me just fine.
The can is a nice small size to place in the bathroom cabinet and it is just the right size for a wash bag for when I travel away from home, either on a holiday or for when I work away from home from time to time too.
It dries quite quickly and it has never irritated my skin at all and it has kept me dry for a very long time, even in the hot weather that we had a few weeks ago and it has never rubbed off onto my shirts and there have been no wet patches either under my arms, which is very important to me and it is a good quality spray too and for a very good value cheap price too.
Smelling nice is very important to me and personal hygiene too as it is for a lot of people and this one is one of my favourite brands that I use on a regular basis and the range of fragrances with Linx is a very wide variety to suit all of men's choice of deodorants and sprays.
I really like the combination of the deodorant and body spray with this one and I am very pleased with the results it gives too and I highly recommend it to anyone to give it a go as the quality and smell is very good and the price is a very good one too and I have often bought Linx on special offer too, and saved myself lots of money as it is a brand I like to use all the time and I am completely satisfied with the products.
I rate this one 5 stars.
Lynx... Probably the current most popular and famous brand of male grooming products in the UK and possibly the world? In every teenage boys room you are likely to find some form of Lynx product, whether it's shower gel, deodorant or whatever else you get in one of those boxes at Christmas from the people who have no idea what to get you.
Lynx is a good brand, and I am very familiar with their products but I was overwhelmed with Lynx produce last Christmas. In total I got 11 shower gels, 7 deodorant cans, 4 deodorant sticks, 2 deodorant bullets, 1 mini hydrating shower balm.... and a partridge in a pear tree. Not that I'm ungrateful! I was very happy with all of my smelly gifts and set out immediately testing them.
I liked them all bar one! LYNX FEVER!! The outcast in my sea of lynx!
This was one of the first sprays I tested. I lavishly smothered my body in a mist of this cooling spray... and took a deep breath. URGH. It is an awful smell! Why would I want to smell like that all day? It's sickly and really makes me gag. It might just be me... but It really isn't a pleasant fragrance. I do not recommend you buy this! Choose lynx Shock or lynx Dark Temptation, very pleasant smells. Anything but this!
Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray
I do like to smell nice and I hope other people too, because I don't really like people that smell badly. It's never really nice especially not when you have to work with somebody or sit in the train next to somebody that smells. That's why we use deodorant! And I'm a fan of the lynx range. Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray is just one of the many that Lynx has in his range of products and proves that they know how to smell nice!
The Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray really stands out with this bright orange fire colour. It got a really good design, which also gives it high expectations. The new can that Lynx have been using now is really nice and handy. This screw cap on the can prevents you for spraying per accident or that the can will leak in your bag. It's easy to use.
But does it work and preventing me to smell badly? Well I think it does and since people are not running away from me or avoiding sitting next to me, I think they agree. The scent is what I really enjoy about this product. It's really refreshing while using it and it has this tropical fruity feeling to it. It contains red dragon fruit extract, so that might just explain the scent.
Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray is really one I would recommend for smelling nice during the day. I do have to say I'm a little doubtful that it prevents you from sweating all day long. Normally I like to use it again after a day work, just to be sure. The spray is very friendly to my skin and it never irritates, which is really important. So definitely a good one to use!
Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray - The future's orange...
"Fever" isn't an obvious choice of name (Latin America not being notable for orange-growing, maybe?).
I've always found Lynx products to be acceptable in the main. For some reason the latest additions to the Lynx range are quite a varied bunch (in the '90s, all their products smelt reasonably similar).
Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray is one of those things that caught my eye on the shelf... I could have bought one of their usual deodorant sprays, but the brilliant orange colour of the aerosol can drew me straight to this one!
When I got around to using it, I wondered if it would be scented slightly of oranges, with the can giving the impression that it would be. Upon reading the blurb, yes it was. Given that I tend to like citrusy fragrances, this sounded pretty good to me.
Wow. The first spray and YES, it most certainly smells like oranges. A lot.
It isn't at all tangy or citrusy, more like a newly opened jar of marmalade!
But then the scent matures into a sweet odour that really does not smell like oranges, but give much more of an impression of "orange" air freshener!
It leaves a pervading sweet-ish odour that doesn't smell particularly pleasant at all. Even after a couple of hours, there is still a malingering whiff apparent.
As you can probably tell, this is not one of my favourite Lynx products.
Lynx have made a fantastic name for themselves as far as men's hygiene is concerned and they always seem to come out with products that have sex appeal and smell generally good. I have a number of there different deodorants and would recommend them unfortunately however this is not one of them.
This is one of the few Lynx products that I have bought and haven't liked. I think it all started when my girlfriend thought I was spraying some sort of cleaning fluid on myself instead of deodorant and informed me that the smell of that deodorant was disgusting. On taking a second look at it and actually taking a proper smell of it I found that it in fact didn't smell nice like all other lynx product seem to but it smelt very very strong and of a smell i'm having trouble describing.
It does smell slightly like Orange as it says on the tin however its far too strong and if you spray just that little bit too much of it in the room you're in then it feels like you have a large amount of phlem at the back of your throat that will taste ten times stronger than orange peel.
I wouldn't think this would be too much of a hit for the ladies as anyone i've asked about it who took a proper sniff thought that it was way to strong and a little overwhelming. I have to agree.
The long and short of it is that if you put enough of this on so that it can still be smelt when you go out then the ladies may have to beat there way through a strong pungent orange cloud to get near you which most of them probably won't do. The advantage of this is that if you want the whole dancefloor to yourself then use the whole can.
Overall. Not impressed.
Oh and the Lynx Fever shower-gel is actually nice as it isn't as strong
I have previously written a review quite a bit ago about Lynx Africa Deodorant Body Spray which is one of my favourites but was written when I first joined dooyoo so I feel with Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray I need to go into a bit more depth about the fragrance and also a bit of history about the Lynx range that unbelievably even though under a different name launched in Europe in 1983 and in the UK in 1985.
I can always remember my first experience with Lynx Deodorants it was the early 1990`s and gone were the days of bad haircuts, men wearing make up and discos and in its place there was Bermuda Shorts, Nintendo`s and Raves. I like both era`s if I am being honest but I was not even a teenager when I had my first try of lynx.
I think I remember my mum getting it from the supermarket and then I saw this black canister and it had like a weird kind of purple emblem and the name of my first Lynx Deodorant Can was Oriental and I dont know if they were trying to give off a smell of the Oriental but I always remember it being a fresh smell and something I could relate to and I kept on asking for my mum to buy Lynx for me.
I even remember once going round to one of my best mates as he said he was struggling with his Science Homework and me being so good at it asked for my help. As a reward he gave me a drink of juice, a couple of biscuits, a play on his Nintendo on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and then a liberal spraying of Lynx Oriental Deodorant.
At the time I thought it was a good deal but now I think I was ripped off a bit and wish I had bartered for more! There was not another Lynx Deoderant released for a couple of years but then after about the third release of the fragrance they released one every year, then into the 00`s and advertising was used more to sell Lynx Deodorants and is still used in the present day to market these Body Sprays.
There have been over 50 Lynx Deodorant Sprays released in total with many different fragrances, most of them have sadly been discontinued but there are still some that have stood the test of time and one of those being Africa which is one of my favourites as I mentioned before and was first released back in 1995. There have been normal Lynx Deodorants and Limited Edition Lynx Deodorants and there are some more Lynx Sprays due to be released in 2010.
As mentioned before the product I am reviewing is Lynx Fever Deodorant Body Spray. When I first looked in the supermarket and wanted a different Lynx Spray and something that was eyecatching Fever did that straight away and I saw the familiar black can and then at the base of the can so many bright and wonderful colours like red, yellow and orange and then I twisted the can for a description and it says "Fever Deodorant Spray With Brazilian Orange Essence" and to me that sounded great so without further hesitation I purchased a Can Of Fever and then was on my way to give it a try.
As I sprayed some of the fragrance for the first time my senses were awoken and a deep and powerful orange smell mixed with other wonderful magic smells that literally had my nosehairs quivering with delight. As I smell it now it just puts a huge smile on your face and gives you a glow of positivity and the people who came up with this fragrance deserve a huge pat on the back and a round of applause as if they wanted people to feel confident about using Lynx Sprays then this is bursting with enthusiasm and positivity and every time I spray it on myself I start to feel good about me and the things around me which can only be a good thing.
It looks like it retails for about £2.79 but if you shop around should be able to get if for cheaper and I have seen it on offer in Tesco where you can buy this Lynx and another fragrance for £3.50 so a saving of about £1 per can and I think this is a decent offer in my opinion.
So if you like Lynx Deodorants give this one a try, if you have never tried Lynx before then give it a go I feel sure you will not feel dissapointed by how it makes you smell and feel.
Here is a link with some more information about the Lynx/Axe range :-
Thanks as always for reading hope this can persuade you to buy some Braziliant Fire!
