      A good all round product!

Being on holiday and running out of stuff meant that I've had to buy a few more things before I get stinky! I was in Marks & Spencers and needed some antiperspirant and when I spotted this costing a mere pound a bottle I really thought that was a bit of a bargain! The Packaging: 50ml clear plastic bottle that has an indentation to the middle of it for ease of handling and a screw on/off plastic lid/cap to the top of it that securely goes over a large transparent roller ball. On the front of the bottle it has a greeny coloured label and on the I'm told it is Aloe Vera Roll On Antiperspirant and the size is stated (as I've listed already). On on the back of the bottle I'm warned not to put it onto broken skin, ingredients are listed and contact details for Marks & Spencers are given. It's a nice bottle and I like being able to see the transparent light green liquid through the bottle too! Using It: Well this is really a great little antiperspirant and handy to use etc. It rolls on with ease, has a lovely light and natural smell of aloe vera to it that really is delicate and fresh though once on it does lose it's fragrance pretty quickly. It dries quickly and leaves armpits feeling soft, smooth and supple and it doesn't transfer onto clothes or anything like that. The most important thing with this is that it does really work. It keeps armpits drier than usual, it doesn't go sticky or anything and works at keeping BO totally at bay (in my case) for hours and hours. I like this loads and think it really is superb quality for what it is and where it's from! Only available in Marks & Spencers stores.

      Disadvantages

      Small, inexpensive deodrant

I must admit when I buy tolietries from Marks and Spencer I normally go straight for their floral range. However displayed next to my normal range was their more basic ranges including their Aloe Vera range.   Looking at the packaging the bottles are clear bottles compared to the white packaging of their other range. To be honest I like the idea of a clear bottle as you can see exactly how much is left. The bottle contains 50ml which I estimate will last me four or five weeks. It's small enough to fit into a reasonably sized handbag or tolietry bag. The smell iof the aloe vera is fresh but not overpowering and does not interfere with any perfume I have worn it with so far. I have found it a bit wet when first applied but it soon dries quite and has proven very effective throughout the day.   This is only a part of their basic range. Also included in the range is shower gel, talc, hand and body lotion and bubble bath. Not everything is available in all fragrances unfortunately but things might change. As all the items in the range are £1 it's great to try as they seem to work just as well as their more expensive range. I bought mine when it was 3 for 2 so it works out even cheaper.

      Well worth a try

I was recently given a gift voucher to spend at Marks and Spencers and I decided to go and take a look at the toiletries. I was surprised and pleased to find a wide range of shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths etc at just £1 each! To be fair I hadn't expected value like that at Marks and Spencers. One of the items that I decided to try was the Aloe Vera Antiperspirant Roll On as I do like the smell of Aloe Vera and I needed some new deodorant. I normally stick to Dove for my deodorants as I know they all work well and don't sting even after shaving but it doesn't hurt to try something different once in a while - I don't want to miss anything do I? The packaging As I said it is called Marks and Spencer Aloe Vera Roll On Antiperspirant and it comes in an opaque plastic container with a screw top. The container is flattish in design with the ball at the top which is unusual these days as most of the manufacturers have upended their designs so that the ball is at the bottom of the container making it easy to get the last drop of deodorant out. Having said that the design of the container does make it easy to grip and use. Once you unscrew the cap you are faced with a nice big ball (ooer missus!) which makes applying the deodorant to your underarms nice and easy. The deodorant runs freely although it feels wetter that the deodorants that I usually use but, on the plus side, it does mean that there is never any problem with it drying out. The smell I was really impressed with the fragrance of this one. As I said earlier I do like the smell of Aloe Vera and it makes the fragrance of this deodorant light, fresh and flowery. Obviously I was going somewhere special and wearing nice perfume this wouldn't be appropriate as the fragrances would compete, but for an everyday deodorant I really liked the smell. Did it work? Well of course this is the most important question isn't it? Having a deodorant that looks nice on the shelf and smells nice under my arms is no good at all if it doesn't work! I am pleased to report that the deodorising and antiperspirant effect lasts all day even when I am working in the garden or spending the day on the promenade selling lifeboat souvenirs. I must admit that when I shaved under my arms I used my usual Dove for a couple of days so I can't comment on whether it is painless after shaving! As I mentioned earlier I did notice that it went on slightly wetter than Dove and my armpits took just a little longer to dry than usual, but it wasn't too bad and I found that a quick flap of my arms did the trick much to the astonishment of the cat! The cost As I have already said the cost of the deodorant was just £1 and for this I got a 50ml of deodorant which is the same size container as my usual Dove. After all it isn't worth getting a 'bargain' if you then find that the volume in the container is less than usual. Other stuff Being a roll on, it is in a small container making it ideal to take on holiday, and as it contains no propellant it can be taken on an aeroplane with no fear of explosions. The other advantage of using a roll on deodorant is that it is kind to the environment, as it does not contain any CFC gases. Even though the design of the container is the old fashioned shape I found that getting all the deodorant out was very easy because of the slightly wetter consistency so there were no problems with balancing it upside down to get the last bit out! The final advantage is that, being made completely from plastic, the empty container goes into the recycling bag! In conclusion I would probably stick to my favourite, Dove, but this is definitely a good, budget deodorant to try for a change.
