I have used Mitchum deodorant now for about thirty years and wouldn't even consider using anything else as I have found it by far the most effective deodorant I have ever used. As I have gotten older I seem to sweat less than I used to but I still need to apply deodorant daily, even though a lot of them now claim that they last for 48 hours which this one does, or even longer.
I like both roll on and stick deodorants and I last paid £2 for this Advanced Control shower fresh deodorant from Boots. It does feel a little bit sticky when you first apply it, but I am used to it now and it really doesn't take too long to dry. However saying that I have often put my tops on when it is not quite dry and it has been fine and I have never noticed any marks or stains on any of my clothes.
The first time I used Mitchum I just knew it was a brilliant deodorant and I only used the unperfumed one for many years but when the new fragrances came out I started to try those and this shower fresh one is probably my favourite out of them all. It is a very light powdery type of smell and it smells fresh and clean but is a bit feminine so it wouldn't be suitable for males.
I have bought the 250ml for as cheap as £1 in various discount shops but can be as much as £3.29 if you buy it from Boots, however they do have offers on from time to time. If I see it for around £1 I will buy a few to keep in stock. It comes in a 250ml size and also a 100ml size which is great to take away on holiday. The packaging itself isn't particularly feminine or attractive as it is a dark green colour and hasn't changed at all since I've been using it. If you weren't looking for this particular deodorant you may not choose this one, but don't let its appearance deceive you, it is a fabulous deodorant which really works and it gives me confidence that even if I do start to sweat during the day there won't be any unpleasant smells coming from my armpits
I really can't recommend this deodorant enough and will never use anything else. It contains aloe and vitamin E so is kind to your skin as well as being an extremely effective deodorant.
Although I work in an office I do go to gym a few times a week, walk to work and am busy in the weekends so I need a deodorant that keeps me fresh and dry. I am quite self-concious about how I smell, the slightest hint of sweat and I'm convinced everyone can smell me and think I stink!
I moved away from aerosols and onto firstly the roll on deodorants that are like a gel but wasn't happy as they took a long time to dry. I then discovered the roll-on stick ones which are so much better. After trying a few and never being totally happy with them I decided to give Mitchum as go as I'd heard a lot of people saying it was good for excessive sweating. Not that I excessively sweat you understand but I figure it if works for people who do then it's a winner!!
I found it in Tesco and it was around £3.50. Slightly more than I'd paid for other brands but I think the roll-on stick lasts for ages and works out pretty good value. It was in the men's deodorant section but it doesn't smell 'manly' if you get me, it smells quite fresh and wouldn't overpower perfume or scented body lotion for example.
After trying it I completely fell in love with it and now won't use anything else. It smells great and it keeps me feeling fresh all day, even in the hottest day. I don't have to worry about sweat smells or sweat patches on clothes and I only ever have to 'top it up' if I'm heading out for the night after work although that's more for my peace of mind than the fact that I actually need to.
I still am totally sweating when I come out of the gym, but I don't smell so Mitchum definitely works under pressure! I think it's the best deodorant I've ever tried.
This is a review of Revlon Lady Mitchum Lady's Roll On Shower Fresh which promises to provide 48 hour strength and protection, with minimising white marks. Sounds like a big claim for an anti-perspirant but looking through other reviews of Mitchum roll on it seems that people have nothing but good things to say about this brand. The picture above is nothing like the roll on deodorant I have. It's more of a bottle shape and a brighter shade of green.
The good old days
I remember when I was at school, this was the only brand one of my very good friends would use. She thought she had a sweat problem but I didn't think she had, in that I never noticed her being sweaty or smelling! This did cost around twice of a cheaper roll on and at the time I thought she was mad spending her beer money on a more expensive deodorant and it's taken me a few years to realise that she had discovered a great brand and was sticking to it!
I always thought of Mitchum as a bit of an old lady brand due to its old fashioned packaging but they have revamped this more recently and I think the word is out that they are no longer viewed as a specialist product for sweaty people but something that everyone can benefit from in the quest for hygiene!
The Mitchum green bottle is instantly recognised. I think they have updated it from a darker green to a more brighter shade of emerald. I think the illusion that it is a tad more expensive is gained in the size of the product. You get 100ml in a bottle and I now realise that this lasts me at least three months with daily plus use and the other cheaper deodorants are smaller and don't last as long. You get a screw top and the product sits on its base but I balance it on its head when I get to the last 5% of product so it's quick to access. I have never had leak issues due to doing this and have carried it in a bag safely too.
The roll on has a good sized ball so it applies quickly and it also goes on quite wet so you know you have good coverage, I really like this as sometimes I have wondered with other brands if there is any going on my skin! Within a minute it is dry so there is no hanging about. I use this every morning and after showers if I am going out in the evening etc. so I can use this up to twice a day despite the 48 hour claim, I am not sure why people would want a deodorant to last this long unless they were going on a long journey as it's best to wash armpits regularly and keep clean than trying to mask sweat!
At the moment, Asda sell this exact product for £2 which is a bargain as other supermarkets charge £3.19 for a bottle. It's worth shopping around, obviously, to get the best price. I did hear that some pound shops were selling this recently so if you did see it in there it is worth stocking up. They may be selling off an old style of packaging but I believe the product will be just as good.
I can't comment on the dry sticks or spray anti perspirants from Mitchum but the roll on gets top marks from me and I will never ever switch from this brand as long as it remains available. I usually just buy whatever roll on is on offer but the performance of this is unmatched by other deodorants I have used.
I have never had any problems with white marks with this product, although I am careful to wait for it to dry with dark colours coming close. I have nothing but praise for Mitchum and will choose this above all others. I have even given away the spare roll ons I have in another brand as I don't want to use them now I have found Mitchum. I won't use the spray or stick from Mitchum as I don't like using this formula as a deodorant but I will stick with my roll on!
