Advantages: Does a decent job

Disadvantages: Expensive and doesn't last the full day

I tend to stick to the same brands of deodorant, but every now and again if I feel one isn't working as well as it used to I do try something new just for a bit of a change. My mother has been using Mitchum deodorants for years and swears by it so I thought I would give it a go.

I tend to use spray deodorants, but the Mitchum roll on was on offer so I decided to purchase this one. As with most brands, there are a few products in the range to choose from but I went for their unfragranced one just because it happened to be the first one I saw.

For a 100ml bottle you will generally pay around £2.89 which is actually quite expensive in comparison to some other brands and is actually more than I pay for my usual Dove deodorant. My theory was though that surely by paying more for the product, it meant it was going to be a good quality product so I bit the bullet and tried it anyway.

It looked like a standard deodorant with it being a small bottle with large screw on top which when unscrewed produced the ball which you roll over your underarms releasing the deodorant. My initial impression wasn't great when using this as the ball released quite a lot of deodorant which made me feel quite wet and I felt I had to hold my arms up in the air to 'air out' my underarms in the hope that they would dry off this way! In fairness, it didn't take long for me to feel dry. Although this is unfragranced, it does have quite a nice, natural smell to it which is nice. The fact that obviously quite a lot of deodorant had been rolled on by the ball meant I felt quite well protected. This feeling lasted a good few hours and I felt quite confident that the deodorant was doing its job. I had applied the deodorant first thing in the morning as you normally would and I felt cool and fresh until mid afternoon whereby I started to feel a little sweaty. I can normally go the whole day with my Dove deodorant without needing to re-apply unless we are in the middle of a Summer heat-wave. This lasted well, but not quite as well as others I have tried.

My other concern about this was the value for money. It was quite expensive as it was and the fact that a lot of deodorant is released in one go, a little more than is actually needed in my opinion, means that the bottle will run out sooner than I would have anticipated so I am not sure this is great value for money.

The claim by Mitchum is 'this is so effective you could even skip a day'. This is an exaggeration in my opinion as although it is pretty decent, it didn't last me the complete day, let alone two days!

Overall, this wasn't a bad deodorant at all, in fact it was quite decent compared to some cheaper ones I have tried in the past but since it is priced at more than brands such as Sure and Dove, I would have expected that little bit more from it. I would have liked it to have comfortably lasted me the whole day which I didn't feel it did and I would have liked to feel protected, yet dry when it was applied as when doing the morning routine with a child, I don't always have time to stand with my arms up waiting for my deodorant to dry!

All in all, this isn't the cheapest and it isn't the best I have ever tried but it is quite decent and does a reasonably good job. I would personally rather use my Dove aerosol deodorant which is available at a better price and does a better job whilst keeping you dry at the same time. Recommended but not highly.

Summary: A decent, but not fantastic deodorant
