I like using roll on deodorant I find that it is most effective and doesn't smell too strong. I dislike using aerosols as find that the smell is too strong and makes the whole house smell so I like to find a good roll on to use.
I've used Mum for a while but also like to swap and try different brands. So far I have found that this one is the most reliable and one I prefer.
The smell of this is a clean, fresh smell and reminds me a little of soap which I think is why I like it as it's not strong or very obvious. I think if I went around smelling like deodorant people would think I was trying to cover something up!! This is just nice and fresh though.
I apply this before getting dressed and find that only a little bit is enough. It takes one full roll of the ball to get the dampness up but then it is fine.
It has left white marks on my top a couple of times if I have put my top on right away, now I leave it about a minute or two before putting clothing on to stop this happening.
It does last me throughout the day. I only have to add more if I'm doing something strenuous.
It is reliable and very gentle, I've never had any irritations caused from it.
This is readily available in lots of shops and is a brand that you can trust. It gets 5 stars from me.
I can never quite make up my mind whether roll on or spray deodorants tend to work better. I have been use the second kind most often in recent years because it is easier to re-apply during the day if need be, providing you use a quick drying one. I remember being a fan of the Mum brand roll on when I was a teenager though, so I decided to give them another try. I used to buy the "Cool Blue" variety, and I was surprised to see it is still available. I am used to companies chopping and changing their ranges every year!
When I first bought Mum, it was in a plastic container, whereas now it is glass. The change is an old one, and doesn't make much difference to me. I suppose it looks a bit more expensive now, but the actual price is still relatively low. I bought mine for £1 [50ml], which was a special offer in my local corner shop. The usual selling price there is £1.40, but it costs around 10p less in the supermarkets and places such as Superdrug. Considering one bottle lasted me about 3 weeks with daily use, I think this is a good value price. It was still easy to use even when the end of the bottle was near. I just needed to tip it upside down briefly. I hate it when you can really only get use from a product when it is nearly full.
The deodorant is available in lots of scents. The names don't give much away about what to expect. I think "Cool Blue" is hard to describe - I would call it a fresh, sweet perfume, that develops a vanilla like undertone as you wear it. It smells quite strong when first applied, and I can still smell it at the end of the day, although it fades a little. The scent is distinctive and good quality, with none of the lingering alcohol type aroma which has put me off other cheap deodorants. [It is in fact alcohol free.] As it is distinctive, I wouldn't want to wear it with all perfumes, as I don't think it would complement them that well. That may just be my personal taste though.
The roller ball works well and feels gentle on my under arms. I don't like stiff ones that drag and pull on your skin. This one moves around smoothly, and applies an even layer of deodorant where you want it. The product appears white and thick in appearance at first, but it dries clear. I did wonder if it would mark my clothes but I have had no trouble with this. I have worn black tops while wearing it which tend to show white patches if anything will. I do wait for it to dry before dressing, as a precaution. I think it is safe to put on a top after about 5 minutes, which is faster than I could with many of the sprays I have used recently. I appreciate that when I am getting ready in the mornings! Before drying, it feels fine on the skin - not sticky, or stinging. I have used this right after shaving and it didn't cause me any pain. There isn't many spray deodorants that I could say that about.
As a deodorant, I have found it effective. This is true even when I have spent all day gardening and working up a sweat. I am happy not to feel that I need to re-apply at lunchtime. I am still sweet smelling at the end of the working day, and I have only occasionally found a small damp patch on my clothes. I would rather have never found one of course, but I have never found an everyday product that works as well as that. Mum say that their roll-on will last up to 24 hours, but I have not put it to the test beyond 12. I would never need a product to last longer than that during my normal routine, so this is fine by me. With long term use, my under arms feel and look much the same as they did before. This isn't one of those products that claims to improve the condition of your skin there, so I am just happy that it doesn't irritate or dehydrate.
Overall, I think this is a good value product, with a scent that appeals to me. I would not call it perfect because I still experienced the odd damp patch, but I didn't actually feel uncomfortable. For the price, it works well. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good deodorant. Try and sniff it first though, as the sweet smell will inevitably not appeal to all. There are plenty of other scents in the range that may suit you more in that case.

I am constantly on the search for an effective deodorant, not that I am particularly sweaty or active, but because I like to feel fresh and smell nice. I like to buy a deodorant that compliments my everyday perfume, rather than over powers it and it was thinking about this that I turned to a brand I haven't tried before, 'Mum' a couple of weeks ago. Consequently this is a brand that my own Mum swears by and that I often overlook due to the other variety of deodorants on offer and due to the fact that it has been around for as long as I can remember. Also and I hate to say it, I often associate the name of this brand with a slightly more senior age group such as my Mum.
The Product ~
Every bottle of Mum deodorant is identical in size and shape and the coloured label and lid are the only indications of the fragrance inside. The deodorant is roll on, and is packaged in a clear glass bottle with a blue screw top lid and contains 50ml of deodorant. The bottle itself is illustrated with a blue Mum sticker and promises up to 48 hours of protection.
There are a variety of fragrances available with 'Mum' however I chose the Cool Blue option. Being a girl that likes to smell cotton fresh I figured this product would be perfect.
Upon unscrewing the lid there is a small plastic ball applicator and it is possible to move this ball around to actually smell the deodorant. The deodorant is white in colour and of a medium consistency and smells very cottony and light in fragrance with a very clean scent that is very difficult to pinpoint to anything specific.
Where to Buy ~
A bottle of this deodorant can be bought from any supermarket or cosmetics store. They are always available in Boots and can be bought for £1.35. I however bought mine in Wilkinsons for a cool 79p. A bargain given the price of some of the other brands on the market which can retail upwards of £2.50.
This product can be applied as any other roll on deodorant, simply unscrew the lid and roll the ball over the underarm area. The ball mechanism is my only criticism of this deodorant as it does tend to stick easily with a build up of product; however this is easily sorted by simply moving the ball with your finger. The product goes on well and gives a light application of deodorant to the intended area. The deodorant dries very quickly (within seconds) and there is therefore no chance of it getting onto clothing.
This roll on deodorant leaves a light film of deodorant which in my experience lasts and lasts. I don't know about the 48 hour claim but mine does indeed last for a good day leaving a fresh fragrance and a dry finish on the skin which does not need a top up. This deodorant does not irritate the skin and can therefore be used straight after shaving the armpit area as it does not contain alcohol. The smell of this deodorant is not really noticeable during the day; however you feel clean and fresh due to the fact that you do not sweat with this product and therefore whilst there are no strong deodorant odours there are no sweaty ones either.
Overall this is a brilliant deodorant which I would definitely recommend and will continue to buy due to both it longevity and great price.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

So far I am yet to find a deodorant I am 100% happy with so I like to try out something new from time to time. My most recent new product which I decided to buy and try was Mum Cool Blue Roll on Deodorant. I'd never heard of this roll on before so I had no idea what to expect. What attracted my eye most of all about this product was the price. I brought it from Bodyshop for just £1. Because of the cheap price I wasn't expecting it to be all that great. Truth be told, it wasn't. However it was still well worth £1.
The fragrance of this roll on is hard to describe, just a typical deodorant smell is the only way I can think to describe it. It is a pleasant smell however not very strong and really has no lasting effects on your skin.
This deodorant claims to give a ' shower fresh feeling that lasts all day'. I found, however, that I needed to reapply it every couple of hours, it certainly didn't last all day!
It did live up to its 'Anti-Sting formula' claim though and felt comfortable when applied after shaving. I did find that this deodorant felt a little wet when applied and so didn't feel like it was protecting me from sweat. Once it had dried on, however, I did find it kept me dry for a while before it needed to be reapplied again.
I wouldn't use this deodorant as my main deodorant but for £1 it makes a fine little back up/emergency product which is always useful to have on hand.
I have to say I was introduced to Mum roll on deodorants by my mum! Not being a mum myself I was not convinced to start off with but now I have tried it Im never going to change. I have tried the white, pink, green and fragrance free.
Im definately more of a fan of the blue and green. The frangrances are lovely and you can get through a whole day without having to worry. I have used this through dance classes and have been very pleased at the end of the class.
Rolls as white but dried clear and Ive not noticed it ever marking any of my clothes. You can also use it straight after shaving and I have never ever had any burning sensation, pain or red rashes like I have had with previous deodorant.
i would highly recommend this range and thank my mum for introducing me to it!!!
As some of you will know I've recently become a fan of Mum roll on deodorant and have liked the pink one alot, not liked the sensitive one because it didn't work, and in the last couple of weeks tried the blue one too. I buy mine from the Co-op for £1.35 each which isn't too bad considering they last about a month on average. Technically these are actually anti-perspirants and not just deodorants so they prevent sweating as well as adding a scent to the skin.
The blue version is much the same as the pink one ingredient wise, the sensitive one contains less ingredients than the pink or blue, it is obviously packaged in a glass bottle with a blue lid and tells us it contains no alcohol.
Unlike the pink one however this smells very fresh and could almost be unisex. I know there aren't many men who would proudly display a bottle of any Mum roll on in their bathrooms but the scent of this could easily be worn on a man without anyone batting an eyelid. I can only describe it as very fresh, clean and kind of makes you think ocean fragrance. So for ladies who don't like floral scents the blue one is the one for you!
The product is like a white lotion and rolls on that way but it takes about 2 minutes to dry which is very quick for a roll on and oddly quicker than the pink version too. I haven't noticed any white marks on my clothes after wearing this and I have worn plenty of black in that time too so that's another plus.
I can also confirm this doesn't sting when applied after shaving, it boasts an "anti-sting formulation" on the back and this lives up to the claim. The fragrance lasts all day but is very light and not one you catch much of a whiff off as you move around. It definitely wouldn't compete with your perfume even if you wear a light fragrance.
Another claim is this works for 24 hours. I can tell you it works well and keeps me fresh and dry all day but I've never tested the 24 hour theory out with any anti-perspirant, I'm too much of a clean freak to try it but it does last a full day. I do a couple of hours of exercise each day and this roll on doesn't let me down throughout that and I'm totally confident if I apply it and go somewhere I won't need to take it with me for any reapplying.
Overall this works well, keeps me dry and fresh and is the sensible choice for any ladies who don't like floral scented deodorants. A full 5 stars from me.
