“ Brand: Mum / Gender: for women / Type: Roll-on / Subcategory: Deodorant / Suitable for: Body „
Being a fan of Mum roll on I have to say this is my least favourite of the range as it isnt as nice smelling as the others. After being introduced by my own Mum. I have tried the blue, pink, green and fragrance free. I have always been confused by the name and I will admit it did put me off in the beginning not being a mum myself!
Im definately more of a fan of the blue and green. The fragrances are lovely and you can get through a whole day without having to worry. I have used this through dance classes and have been very pleased at the end of the class.
Rolls as white but dried clear and Ive not noticed it ever marking any of my clothes. You can also use it straight after shaving and I have never ever had any burning sensation, pain or red rashes like I have had with previous deodorant.
I would highly recommend this range and thank my mum for introducing me to it!!!
Recently I reviewed the pink Mum anti-perspirant and found it to be very effective so when I spotted this sensitive version with aloe vera and calendula in it I had to try it. Like the pink one it is alcohol free and it comes with a light green lid to make it look more natural I suspect. The actual liquid is white andthe whole design of the bottle looks very pure and natural. I paid £1.35 for this roll on and expected it to be as effective as the pink one.
A few days ago I started using this anti-perspirant, straight from the shower so I was lovely and fresh and the deodorant itself smelt like cut grass which is a scent I adore so all seemed well. The packaging is glass and has a small roller ball so application is precise and you don't end up with roll on everywhere. The lid is also flat so you can tip it upside down to keep the liquid flowing. I found it dried a bit slower than the pink version and I was walking around without my top on for several minutes but eventually it seemed to have dried.
Feeling confident and loving the fresh herby scent of this I went out for a while. Within about an hour I noticed I was feeling slightly damp in the underarm area and wondered why it wasn't doing its job of preventing sweating. However I didn't notice any nasty niffs.
Fast forward a few hours and I'd not done anything you could call strenuous but I caught a whiff of body odour and realised this deodorant, anti-perspirant to be exact, had completely let me down. Not only does it not prevent perspiration as it should do but it also lets nasty niffs appear and this was all in the space of a few hours! The claim is it lasts 24 hours but I don't know who they've tested this on!
I was really disappointed because the pink version is so good so I had a look at the ingredients and found there is quite a difference between the two. The sensitive version has alot less ingredients and variations on some of the chemicals found in the pink one so I assume this is necessary to be able to declare it "sensitive". However, there's not much point in having a roll on that has "anti-sting" formulation and lovely natural ingredients if it doesn't work!
I don't recommend this one and won't be using the remainder for fear of it not working. I will say though if you've tried this one and been disappointed don't think all versions of Mum are as bad because the pink one is excellent. For me a complete waste of money and the only plus to this product is the gorgeous scent. 1 star from me I'm afraid.
Mum Sensitive Care Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
Description: Brand: Mum / Type: Antiperspirants / Deodorants - Roll-on / For Women / With natural extracts.
This is not my usual deodorant (which is Dove, just in case anyone wondered!) but it was on offer at my local supermarket and Mr Siamese picked some up. It cost just £0.65, but in my opinion, was a waste of money as it wasn't very effective.
It comes in a clear bottle and the contents are a milky colour. It has a green lid which screws on and off. You can buy this brand in different scents and it is available from most supermarkets and chemists. Normally it costs around £1.
When I applied this, it went on really well but left my underarms feeling really wet and took quite a while to dry, certainly not one to put on if you have to get dressed in a hurry. In fact, even when I did get dressed 15 minutes later, this product left white marks on the top that I put on.
This product didn't really perform well either. With Dove, I can come home after a 10 hour shift feeling and smelling as fresh as when I had left the house. I wasn't actually sweaty but I didn't feel as fresh as normal which was a shame.
I don't recommend this product. It was sticky feeling and took ages to dry. When it did, it left white marks and didn't work as well as other brands. Yes it is cheaper, but I would rather pay the extra and use something that I can rely on.
I was on my way to work one day and realised halfway I'd forgotten to put any deodorant on. Knowing how hot and sweaty bar work gets and non wanting to be treated as a leper all night I thought I'd be clever and buy some on the way. I went into a corner shop and saw it was a choice of paying nearly £4 to try and stuck a giant can of Sure into my handbag, or getting this roll on for just over £1.
The name "Mum" gave me a slight fear I might come out smelling like a granny after a few licks of it, but the front said it was unperfumed so I thought at worst it would simply cancel out the smell of 'rugby players' coming out of my armpits.
How wrong I was! The scent of Mum, 'unperfumed' as they like to call it is simply named so as it a foul smell you just cannot place. Between that and the consistency it's horrible. Although I'm more of a spray-on girl than a roll on-fan, when I have used roll-ons before they've been sticky to begin with then dried. Mum just went on and stayed clammy and wet. It was like going over a layer of smelly sweat with a wetter smellier layer of sweat.
Still I persevered all night with the bottle, but all I got for my efforts was being mocked by the boys at work for bathing myself in the 'sweat of Mums'. Definetly not worth the discount price tag- in fact I think Mum owe me a £1 for my troubles!
I admit that when it comes to deodorant's I own loads of them. Funny thing is I'm not a particularly sweaty person but the thought of it threatens to make me perspire so usually when I'm out shopping I will pick one up if I see them on special offer. The result being I own 15 of them at the moment lol.
This one I bought in Sainsbury's on offer for 57p instead of of 86p. I chose it deliberately as it is 'Sensitive' as I tend to have a shower or a bath daily and shave my armpits and slap deodorant on but it does tent to smart a little so I was really hoping this would be kind and gentle!
Long glass see-through cylinder shaped base which is tall and to the top of it it has a bright green plastic lid/cap which twists on/off. Under that there is an integrated whitish quite large roller ball tat is very flexible. On the front of the bottle in black and green writing I'm told it is Mum Sensitive Care Aloe-jojoba Calendula Deo Roll-On 24hr 0% Alchohol. On the back of the bottle I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients are listed, I'm told the product is manufactured by Procter & Gamble and the recycle symbol is displayed, the size is stated which is 50ml and finally there is a bar-code on there. It's a nice enough bottle and I do like being able to see the white creamy looking deodorant through it and all in all it looks sensible and functional.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bottle:
A caring anti-perspirant deodorant from MUM for total freedom Sensitive Care with natural extracts of Aloe Vera, Jojoba and Calendula soothes and moisturises delicate skin. Dermatologically tested. Anti-sting formulation.
Me Using It:
I'm not keen on roll on's to be perfectly honest with you and this proved to me all the reasons I believed them to not be so good all over again lol!
The roller-ball moved with ease and the product dispensed out well. However in my opinion too well! I moved the roller-ball around my armpits gently and the white liquid smeared all over said armpits and then sat there! I had to rub it in with my hands! It looked like a slightly runny creamy liquid and I couldn't get dressed for a while after applying it! Smell wise well it had a slightly sort of flowery smell to it but nothing heavy really. It had a soothing fragrance but I'd just shaved my armpits and it did anything but soothe them I'm telling you! I stung and then I went bright red! This feeling did pass after about 20 minutes and it wasn't agonising or anything but it did feel tingly but the redness vanished. In fact I have just put some on the back of my hand for the purpose of this review to have a smell so I could describe it to you accurately and even my hand, as I type now is stinging me and I can assure you I haven't shaved that lol! Sensitive? Really? Hmmmm????
Once I had allowed it to dry under my armpits I got dressed and it had no transfer and after the stinging and tingling sensation I had experienced I was left feeling fresh and dry and slightly hydrated.
However as I told you earlier I'm not a smelly person but after 12 hours I sniffed under my pits and I didn't smell so fresh really. The initial fragrance of the product had worn off after about 40 minutes anyway but still protected me for a good while but certainly not 24 hours.
None stinging? Hmmm if you have sensitive skin like I do I wouldn't bother.I don't like the way I have to 'manually' rub it in it, that the fragrance of it purchasing this wears off very quickly or that after a few hours I don't smell so good and I'm promised 24h protection! Not for me this one it has a cheap 'feel' to it and I'm not one bit keen I'm afraid on this lol.
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc.
