      Very helpful

      Do it without aluminium!

It is quite unbelievable how so few people are aware of the presence of aluminium in every anti-perspirant on the market. (It sounds like a over-generalisation, but it's not - read the ingredients!) Aluminium has been linked to both cancer and Alzeimer's Disease, but perhaps it's the conflicting findings about exactly how much can be absorbed through the skin that's kept this information out of the general public eye: nothing's been proved conclusively yet. But I can't help wondering why people will continue to apply obviously poisonous substances to their underarms and not question why there has been such an increase in breast cancer in recent years.

Could there be a link? You always have a choice as to what to believe.

I say: play it safe, and use a herbal deodorant! It won't stop you sweating, but this spray which is packed full of antibacterial essential oils such as lavender, lime, sage, clove and palmarosa as well as the obvious lemon and coriander, will freshen a stinky pit any time.

This is not an ideal deodorant when used on its own mainly because of its inability to combat wetness, but its antibacterial control goes quite a long way towards doing the job. I have found the most effective method to be a combination of this spray with another herbal deodorant containing corn starch (such as Jason's Tea Tree oil roll-on), as this is an ingredient which does have some ability to absorb moisture.

Neal's Yard are a brilliant retailer of organic health and beauty products and you can be sure that whatever you buy from them will have the highest concentration of pure ingredients. They really are experts in their field - ask one of their shop assistants about a skin issue and they will have lots of suggestions as to what herbs and essential oils are likely to do the trick - there are no "mish mash" mixtures thrown together in here. Kylie is rumoured to swear by them - and who has more perfect skin than Kylie?
