I am aware that there is only so much that can be said about a deodorant, especially one that you can pick up in the supermarket like this one. However, it has to be said that for something that you use every day, and that plays such an important role in keeping you comfortable all day, it is important to use the right one!
This deodorant comes in a weighty glass bottle, which while heavy, is nice and compact and so would be good for travelling. It looks quite pretty too.
Inside, it is a typical roll on deodorant white ball applicator that you roll under your arms to dispense the deodorant.
It must be said that this deodorant does take longer to dry on me than others I have tried, which can be quite annoying when you are standing naked in winter waiting for your deodorant to dry before you can get dressed. Heaven forbid you don't wait until it is fully dry, for you will be left with the most horrendous white stains all over your clothes that will not come out until washed in the machine.
The deodorant has quite a pleasant, feminine scent. Whilst I don't find that it stops me from sweating, per se, I certainly haven't noticed any unpleasant aromas coming from my under arm area, nor have I had any kind of skin irritation, which I suppose is something you would expect coming from a skin care brand like Nivea.
Overall, if you are not a big sweater anyway, this is a fine basic deodorant. If you need your deodorants to keep the sweat at bay, opt for something stronger.
I have always used dry roll on antiperspirant sticks in the past but when I went to buy a replacement a few weeks ago none were on offer so rather than pay £2.50 for my usual brand, I decided to try out this Nivea Pearl and Beauty Roll on deodorant, as it was on offer for just £1. I have used Nivea products many times in the past and have always found them really good, particularly their moisturisers.
I applied it and found the experience to be, on the whole, very unpleasant. The smell was pleasant and was probably one of the nicest smelling female antiperspirants I have used. However, as I have never used a traditional roll on such as this before I was not anticipating how moist the product would be. I had to wander round allowing my under arms to dry for a few minutes before dressing which was a nuisance as I am someone who is always on the go so I like to make small daily acts like applying my deodorant as fast as possible! I just really disliked feeling like I was already sweating before I had even started my day. Once it had dried it didn't really feel like there was anything there (I suppose because I am used to feeling the creamy film of a roll on stick).
I didn't find the antiperspirant effect to last very long and had to re-apply the product mid-day which was unusual for me as a single application in the morning has always been adequate coverage for me.
Overall I just think the style of this product wasn't right for me and I will be sticking to my roll on sticks in the future but the smell and price was pleasant for people who do use this style of antiperspirant.
I love Nivea as a brand and I don''''t often come across many of their products in which I wouldn''''t buy it again. I especially like Nivea deodorants and have probably tried every different scent they do. The pearl and beauty smell is one of my favourites because it''''s so feminine yet still fresh. I have only ever used their spray deodorants as I''''m not a huge fan of roll on deodorants. I did however decide to try this due to it being on offer for £1. I think this is a nice looking bottle yet it seems so unpractical, to be in a heavy glass bottle. The one good thing is that you can see how much product you have left though I still don''''t think this is that important that it needs to be in see through packaging. It smells as nice as other pearl and beauty products and does seem to go on nicely. The reason I don''''t like roll-on products is because I think like the other ladies have touched upon, it seems unhygienic in the way a roll on works. I would often use this when getting out the shower or bath, and unlike how you can top up deodorant throughout the day, this roll on isn''''t the best way to stay clean and fresh. I know that I ended up throwing away this product before I finished it because it seemed unhygienic. I don''''t think I would purchase this product again simply because it doesn''''t seem worth he hassle, when you can buy the spray deodorants instead which I love.
I am a massive fan of all Nivea products. I use all the creams, body washes etc. and so I thought way not go all in and get the deodorant too. I love that it is smaller than other roll on deodorants available and so you can carry it around in your handbag. However, it is made out of glass and so really quite heavy. I just don''t understand why? This product would be perfect for handbags if only it were lighter. It gives reasonable protection, I would not say that in this way it is superior to competitors but deffinately on a par. It smells really nice and feels smooth on application. I have very sensitive skin but have no problems with this product - no stinging after shaving, and no rashes or irritation. This is a good product and worth the money, it''s not outstanding but I will be continuing to use it as I like the size, the smell, and it''s suitable for my sensitive skin.
I have never purchased any roll on deodorant before however I was given a nivea gift set for Christmas which had a moisturiser, body wash, buffer and a roll on deodorant.
The roll on was 50ml and in a glass bottle so was heavier than a thought. It is small enough to keep in your handbag which is handy. It does say on the bottle 48 hour protection which from my personal experience isn't true.
I was just going to throw it away but I normally purchase Nivea pearl and beauty spray deodorant so decided to give it a try. I've never been a fan of roll ons as I don't think they are very hygienic. They are if you use them straight after a bath or shower but if you have been active through out the day and start to sweat, then use the roll on, I just feel you are adding all that sweat to the roll on its-self. Doesn't sound great but I do have OCD so I am quite obsessed with being clean.
I used the roll only a couple of times after a morning shower before work and found it did smell nice and was easy to apply. You also don't get all the fumes from spray deodorant. I did find though my underarms felt quite sticky which was unpleasant.
I didn't feel I could re-use it later on in the day as mentioned earlier so I found myself using my normal spray deodorant. I wouldn't purchase a roll on again however for people who do like to use them then nivea is gentle on the skin and does smell nice so would be a good purchase.
As it isn't for me I am only giving it 1 star.
I have always been an Avon buyer, but a few years ago while on holiday abroad I had to buy some deodorant ( disorganised packing again) and I purchased this nivea deodorant as it was a name I recognised amongst the numerous foreign products. I immediately became a convert to Nivea forever. This product is smooth, smells loveley but subtle, and leaves your skin feeling wonderful. Like may roll ons, you have to wait for it to dry before getting dressed, but if you do this then I havent found that it stains any clothing. On top of the loveley smell and quality feel of this product I have found it extremely effective both during that particular, and subsequent sunshine holidays, and all the way through our loveley hot English summer lat year (2013). I dont believe I will ever go back to the Avon product I used to use, and it has even encouraged me to try some of Nivea's other products.
I've used this for awhile and i have to say I really like it, it has a nice smell thats not too strong or over powering. As i have very sensitive skin which is usually made worse by using anti-perspirants after shaving, im always on the look out for quality products i can rely on that dont aggravate my sensitive skin and this fits the bill, a light feminine scent that i can trust wont wear off and leave me patchy! Thumbs up from me!
not only does the smell last alot longer then most roll ons also dont turn into i different smell love others, it makes your under arms feel so smooth its very kind and gentle, and alos great to use after you shave no sting and helps to keep your looking and feeling smooth, its a perfect size to slip into even a small purse or bag so great to take on days and nights out
I have been using this review for years and I am really happy with it. Nivea is a well known brand and the deodorant is a good quality and isn't costly as well! I don't see any reason to change.. this deodorant does everything that it should.. I get no white marks and it smells really nice as well! You can buy it in most places such as supermarkets and Boots.
I have been using this product for over a month now, its taken ages to find the right deodorant, from spray's to roll on's, all different labels and colours. I've often found scented to start smelling funny after a bit. But this one smells lovely, almost like a perfume, people have commented on it and are really shocked when they find out it is just a deodorant. To top it all off it actually works! Even at the gym, your not left with nasty sweat patches from deodorants that simply don't work. Not only does it smell lovely, its easy to apply and does work all day round, whether your at the gym or at home doing work! I would highly recommend this product, a few of my friends are now using it and we all have noticed a difference in feeling fresher with this product, which is very important!!
I usually avoid roll-on deodorants as they leave me feeling not as protected, although I would prefer to use them for environmental reasons. This deodorant has definitely made me reconsider! After applying it in the morning, I felt comfortable that I was protected all day, and it smelled great! Sometimes with deodorants, you feel they smell overpowering and unpleasant, but this was just right. A mixture of sweet and musky.
It worked well and always gave enough of the product- which is a problem I sometimes find with roll-ons, you have to really struggle to feel as though it has been applied properly.
As well as this, it left my underarm skin feeling in nice condition, rather than dry or sore it moisturised the area and left it feeling soft.
I liked how the packaging was substantial and made from glass, rather than plastic. It just made the product feel more girly for me (and I love the opal colouring) and also, funnily enough, the extra weight made it easy to find in a handbag.
If, like me, you are a spray-on kinda gal, then give this a try to change your mind!
I'm reviewing my Nivea Pearl and Beauty Anti-perspirant.
It cost just £1 in Poundland .
This contains NO alcohol or colourants.
With pearl extracts.
I've always liked the smell of Nivea products. The fragrance is timeless in my opinion.
This is one of my favourite anti-perspirant/deodorants.
The glass bottle is small and is a chubby bullet shape with a slightly pearlescent tinge to the top which I presume is a nod to the 'pearl' in the name. Clever marketing idea.
It contains 50ml of the product .
The top unscrews to reveal a roller ball dispenser .
There is nothing complicated in using a roll on anti-perspirant ....or there shouldn't be if the product is from a decent manufacturer like Nivea. You simply shake the bottle slightly to ensure the bottom part of the roller ball gets a good covering of the liquid and then roll the ball under your arms back and forth a few times. I find three or four strokes plenty.
It is just that easy. Screw the lid back on firmly to ensure it doesn't dry out .
First the fragrance....it is just lovely and distinctively Nivea to me. It's similar to the smell from Nivea cream but with a more musky scent coming through. Where the cream smells heavy this deodorant veers toward the smell of a lightly fragranced exotic flower.
I use this in the morning and can still get wisps of the fragrance until early evening.
The product rolls on clear and doesn't dry leaving white residue in the way some roll ons do.
I can use this within 20 mins of shaving my underarms, so the formula seems to be very gentle in that regard (or else my underarms are tough as old boots).
It boasts 24 hr protection but to be honest I've never tested that out because it gets washed off in the late evening. However, during the day I find it works well for me. Having said that I don't sweat that much unless it is high summer or if I'm running a temperature so I might not be the best judge of how effective the anti-perspirant side of it works for someone with a severe sweating problem , but I do know that in the hot spell during the summer it seemed to reduce any underarm sweating on the worst days ,and eliminated it on the less hot days and early evenings.
I'm a firm believer in the need to sweat anyway. Our bodies are designed with sweat glands so that our temperatures can be regulated......Mother Nature's built in coolant system if you will. That is the reason we are advised to drink something hot occasionally during hot weather, so that we sweat excessively on a temporary basis and the ensuing release of sweat reduces the body temperature.
So a bit of sweat is perfectly healthy and I'd literally NOT buy a deodorant that blocked my pores so much that no sweat ever ever emerged....VERY unhealthy.
This product strikes a healthy balance for me by keeping the sweating reduced while emitting a fragrance that is light and slightly exotic .
I have a really sensitive sense of smell and many perfumes/fragrances leave me nauseous, but Nivea fragrances never do .
Another thing I like is the fact that it is a roller ball application. I have an intense dislike of aerosols for various reasons that I needn't go into, and in my opinion roll ons and stick deodorants are perfectly effective.
I'm not sure why the 'pearl extracts' in the product are considered an advantage . I've never heard of that being in any way efficacious .I assume that it is another marketing ploy......pearls being smooth, silky and lustrous, just like we'd desire our skin to be.
This is my third or fourth bottle of this and it usually lasts me around 6-8 weeks.
I have used this when using perfume and I don't find they clash because the Nivea is only evident from the underarm area, while perfume is more noticeable due to being applied to pulse areas.
Would I recommend this ? Yes I would. It ticks all the boxes for me .
Smells really nice and the fragrance lasts a decent time.
Reduces sweating to an acceptable degree for me.
Small enough that I can pop it in my bag if I know I'll be in a hot environment for a prolonged time.
No residue on application.
And the price is right.... my getting this for £1 is no big deal, because it sells in many outlets for £1 or just slightly more.Excellent value.
I have no qualms about giving this the full 5 star rating.
Thank you for reading ~myloh.
I'm always using different types of antiperspirants as I like to try different new products too see what works for me from sprays to roll ons I seem to prefer roll ons as sprays tend to get up my nose a bit to much. I don't really sweat much in my everyday life weather its hot or humid I don't tend to smell (which I love!) but I do like to smell nice a lot of the time and I might get a bit hot and stressed sometimes so I like knowing I have the extra backup for my under arms.
I found this roll on at Tesco and I liked the look of the glass bottle it comes in with its pretty design. It retails at £2.00 for a 50ml bottle, you can find this product in most supermarkets or beauty stores although it is currently on offer at Tesco for £1.00.
The bottle is see through so you can see the milky type of liquid under the roll on ball part at the top under a plastic lid.
The description of the bottle says "Pearl & Beauty, Gentle care, 24 hours,Smooth & beautiful underarms, Pearl extract and 0% alcohol" I like the fact that it doesn't have alcohol in it has in the past I've found that it does sting when applying it under your arms and can become quite sore.
I normally apply this after my shower and you just roll it under your arm, It doesn't feel sticky either, after you've applied this product you get that "wet feeling" for about 30 seconds then it disappears and you don't notice you've applied it after a while, apart from the smell of the product that lingers.
I love the scent of this roll on as it doesn't mask my usual perfume that I use, It has a kind of flowery scent to it but it's not too strong.
Since using this product I've noticed my underarms are a lot smoother than before as I shave everyday it can sometimes feel rough and bumpy but this product seems to have smoothed that problem out!
Over all I'd recommend this product as it smells nice, gives you protection and it's cheap.
Using Nivea Deodorant Pearl & Beauty Roll on results in beautiful soft underarms / It's the perfect combination of Nivea's mild care and reliable anti-perspirant protection all day long /
