Here is just a quick introductioon to the brand Nivea, now most of us have used it in one form or another but how much do you really know? Well, the company was made in 1882! and is founded originally in Germany. The name Nivea comes from the Latin word niveus/nivea/niveum, meaning 'snow-white' The company started out with tanning oils, shaving creams, shampoo and facial toners, where as nowadays they also make all skin care, make up remover and sun protection.
Nivea Dry Comfort Deodrant roll on is desgned to protect from wetness and odor. It has 48 hr protection and is dermatologically approved. It contains no alcohol or colours and lasts 12 months.
This deodrant can be found in most supermarkets and looking today it costs around £2 for a 50 ml bottle, However I myself bouth it for £1 at Lidl.
I first came across this when I ran out of my normal brand and the shop didnt have any of my normal brand in stock. I dont use aerosols as its bad for you and this was the only roll on they had. It is in a tall glass bottle which is see through and has a white lid, which you screw off to get to the roller ball. They label is white and it comes in 2 different smells, the blue and the white..... my guess is for men and women, but thats just a guess. I have the white one. It is easy to use and i find it the right size to hold onto. The liquid is white and thick, and smells floral and perfumed. It comes in a 50ml bottle and that lasted me about 2 months of normal everyday use.
Well firstly the price is very good for such a good brand. The deodrant smells nice but it isnt absorbed quickly, Ihave to wait to get dressed. Its also very gentle to skin and has a mouisturisig effect. I like the fact the bottle is see through as you can see how much you have left.
One downside is the bottle is made of glass and is quiet heavy, now Im lucky in that I havent dropped it yet, but I wouldnt like to because although its very thick strong glass, I think it might smash- especially on tiled floor, also it doesnt last very long at all I have to apply 2-3 times per day.
I wouldnt recommend this deodrant as you have to apply it so many times and it takes ages to soak in before you can get dressed. I will not be buying it again.
Thanks for reading and rating,
This is an underarm deodorant by Nivea that does well on many levels.
It comes in a transparent glass bottle which means the amount left is visible.
I paid less than a pound for this product in Home Bargains and at that cheap price it really has been value for money.
The roll-on ball moves well which is not the experience I've had with other products with which I've had to use my finger to get the ball rolling again.
Just twist off the lid white (this bit is plastic) and roll the bottle under your dry armpits. There are no artificial colours in this and no alcohol.
Upon application the skin feels cool but also a bit wet. I don't want to risk staining on my clothes so I always apply a minute, or two, before I put my top on. After this initial application the underarms feel dry. A couple of times I've been in too much of a hurry to wait and found no staining of my clothes. I continue to be careful out of habit but I think it does not show up on clothes.
I exercise hard and I'm afraid I still get sweat patches under the arms but they are not as bad as when I've used most other products. However, it does keep me totally dry in ordinary day to day situations. I never smell bad with Nivea not even during or after exercise, though I cannot claim that it remains completely fresh under the armpits when working out .The deodorant has a fresh and clean scent though it is very mild and unobtrusive. It does not cause any problems on my, sometimes, sensitive skin but do not apply to broken or sore skin.
This product has longevity. I've used this 50ml bottle daily for months. I have only needed to use it once a day unless I have an extra shower or bath in which case I use again afterwards. It is meant to last twenty-four hours but I certainly need to put it on afresh the next day so I don't feel it really lasts twenty-four hours.
I have confidence in this product but only under non-stressful situations. I have a couple of other brands that I trust just that tiny bit more. If you sweat heavily you might need something stronger.
I also find the bottle too heavy to carry in my handbag. It stays at home and means I need a lighter product to take out with me. In one respect I liked that it's in a glass bottle because I thought I could recycle it but with the ball on the top I'm not so sure it's possible. For all these reasons I give this good Nivea product four stars as for me it's not quite perfect.
~~Nivea dry confidence roll on deodorant~~
I tend to swap my deodorants quite frequently I normally go for the ones on offer as we buy toiletries in bulk from Boots as we live in Cyprus it works out cheaper for us to buy in bulk and have it shipped over. I therefore do not really stick with one deodorant unless it is particularly good. I had seen that this specific deodorant was on offer at the time of purchase so I decided to try it, I didn't have any previous knowledge of the product so it was a pretty much blind purchase, however I was happy with the outcome and will definitely be purchasing this product in the future regardless of whether it is on offer or not.
The bottle of the roll on is made out of quite thick glass; I think this is the only disadvantage of the product as it is significantly heavier than a roll on of the same size that has a plastic container. I wouldn't want to carry this round in my hand bag as it is already full to the brim and with the glass I would be worried of dropping my bag and the bottle breaking and damaging the more expensive products in my handbag like my phone or kindle. The bottle also has a white lid which houses the typical roll on dispenser. There is a sticker on the lid which brags of its 48 hour protection. I am not too sure on this as personally I wouldn't go 48 hours without showering and I don't know who would unless they were camping or somewhere without access to running water. The product does last me all day and I have found that it is the only deodorant I have tried that has lasted all day without having to be reapplied frequently. Therefore, you wouldn't really have to carry this product around during the day unless say you were off to the gym and you were going to shower and refresh after training. The bottle also contains a label on the front which has the typical Nivea branding and then the product name and a brief description again highlighting the 48hour long protection and that it contains minerals and 0% alcohol. The bottle contains 50ml of product and I would say that with daily use it would last approximately a month, failing that the product has a 12 month expiry once opened.
The product should be used after bathing/showering and you only need to use one roll on each armpit. The product dries extremely fast and therefore does not leave those unsightly white marks on clothing. The scent of the product is subtle and smells slightly soapy it is pleasant and just gives off the just washed sort of vibe. The scent doesn't last for particularly long but the protection of the product does last for a long period of time. I would therefore recommend wearing perfume or a body spray if you would like to have the extra scent as this product does not really deliver on that aspect. However, I find that a good thing as it does not detract from the smell of my perfume as there is nothing worse than smelling like you've rolled in a breakage at the local perfume store and you can smell a variety of products on one person, to me it is like they are trying too hard to try and mask a nasty smell!
Overall, I would say this is a brilliant product and I will definitely be purchasing it in the near future. This specific product can be purchased from many well-known high street retailers and supermarkets. The prices as of writing are as followed (prices accurate on day of writing 13/09/12):
Review will also feature on Ciao under the same username.
I bought a variety of these in Boots when they were on offer. The other two I bought aren't on dooyoo yet, the invisible one and pearl beauty one.
I have been impressed with all of them. I can be quite a sweaty person. To the point where in the past if I have a shower, put on antiperspirant and wear a cotton top I can still be sweating a few hours later quite badly, particularly if I am nervous. I don't get that problem with this product.
So my main reason for buying these in Boots was because they are very compact. I thought "I can put one in my handbag, one in my desk drawer, and one in my going away washbag". But I had never used any nivea antiperspirant so I didn't really expect them to be amazing. My normal antiperspirant ran out (sure) so I switched to using one of these. I then found I didn't need the one in my handbag, or the one in my desk drawer because it really does keep me dry all day!
I won't be buying Sure again as I am so chuffed with this.
Packaging is also very good. They are made of tough glass so when they run out I can prize out the roller ball and pop the glass bit in the recycling. That made me happy!
I am a fickle toiletries user, and deodorant is no exception. While I won't return to ones that have failed to impress me, if an as-yet untested one is on offer, I'll just as happily pick up that one as I will return to one I know works. I needed deodorant and body lotion. Colombia is the queen of unlikely pairings (buy spaghetti, get kitchen cleaning free and so on) and there were so packs in the shop that included, you've guessed it, a Nivea body lotion and this deodorant. It was the most unlikely of finds, but exactly what I needed, so in the basket they went.
I have used Nivea deodorants before, and always been relatively impressed by them, but this one has proved truly outstanding and I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and deliberately buy it again.
There are lots of things I love about this, and not a single one I hate, which is highly unusual. The first thing I adore is the bottle. It has a contoured back which makes it easy to grip, even straight from the shower. Some are so round and so slippy I always feel I'll drop them, but not this one. Also fantastic is the roller-ball. This runs smoothly over skin and has never once got stuck or clogged as so many brands do over time. I like to cut things fine, meaning my alarm goes off a mere 30 minutes before I am due to start work. In that time I have to shower, dress, eat breakfast, pack my bag and commute (aka walk down the hill, but still). I do not have time to fuss around with annoying packaging (blocked shower gels, crusty moisturisers) and so I appreciate the fact that this requires no effort and works perfectly every time.
Next up, the smell of this is delicious and not only when you first apply it. In some magical way it seems to send out wafts at regular intervals throughout the day. The nearest comparison is to baby powder, which of course conjures up ideas of freshness and cleanliness, which are just what you want from a deodorant.
In terms of the actual effectiveness of the deodorant, again it is hard to beat. I go to the gym every day (except Sunday when the slackers close) and also walk a lot in the city which can go from wet and rainy to boiling hot in the drift of a cloud. This means I will often be layered up when it becomes hot, adding to my internal skin temperature. Because I am teaching at the moment, I do a lot of board work for grammar structures which means I am always lifting up my arms, revealing the sides of my tops. I always cringe when I see people with wet patches (especially men who like to sit back in a chair with their hands behind their heads, apparently oblivious) and it makes me paranoid about them myself, but this deodorant is brilliant for keeping you dry and fresh all day.
This is an excellent deodorant with a gorgeous smell. It applies easily, dries quickly, and does not leave white marks on your clothes. I would pay a premium for this as I think it's well worth it, making it even more miraculous that it only costs a standard price - I've seen it for a £1 in many a place, many a time. Bargain.

I never thought I would find the motivation to write about some products. Roll-on deodorant for example - now there is something I could not get excited about. However, I tried a product recently and felt sufficiently positive about it as to be encouraged to write a review.
The product in question is Nivea's Dry Confidence Deodorant. This is the first time I have tried an anti-perspirant/deodorant from this manufacturer though I have used other products from Nivea previously. What had deterred me from buying this deodorant earlier was the fact that it comes in a glass bottle. I have nothing against glass bottles, per se, but I do a lot of travelling and need toiletry items with packaging which is light in weight and resistant to breaking or leakage. Despite this deterrent, I gave it a try.
How to spot it on the store shelf.....
The deodorant comes in a straight-sided, colourless, transparent glass bottle with a white plastic screw on/off cap. The labelling is simple, showing a dark blue panel edged with silver and bearing the words 'Nivea Deodorant' in white upper-case lettering. 'Dry Confidence' is printed in red lettering underneath this panel and further information is printed in small, dark blue lettering beneath . Give the bottle a quarter turn and you will see that the rear is shaped with an angled recess. This makes the bottle easier to hold. I can imagine this design could be helpful to anyone with a weakened grip or joint problems. A peel-back label is attached here giving additional product information. By the way, Nivea also make a product with a confusingly similar name and design which they call 'Nivea Dry (Mild Care)'.
And the smell.....?
The first time I opened the bottle I was struck by the smell - not unpleasant - just stronger than I had been anticipating. It was very floral, almost rosy. The manufacturers describe this as "the familiar Nivea scent". I thought it could be strong enough to clash with any perfume I chose to wear but I persisted and noticed that after the deodorant had dried, the smell was much more subtle - not in the least overpowering. The lingering fragrance was delicate, floral, slightly 'powdery' and fresh.
How does it feel?
Very smooth, almost creamy textured and it does not cause any hint of stinging. The roller ball moves freely without sticking and delivers an even spread of the product. It takes a few minutes to dry. It is alcohol-free - which is good news for those who suffer skin irritation - but it does mean that it needs a little longer to dry. It is essential to ensure that the deodorant has dried before dressing to avoid marking or staining of clothing.
Does it work?
Without exception I have felt dry, clean and fresh at the end of the day. (I cannot corroborate the claim that it works for 24 hours - unless I am undertaking an especially long work shift or journey, I don't usually go that long without getting washed!) I also found that my skin felt very soft and not at all dried or irritated.
Any white marks?
There is no claim that this product is specifically designed to avoid leaving marks on clothing. However, I do wear a lot of black clothing and often with sleeve designs vulnerable to this kind of staining. I have found only traces of white residue on my clothing and so in this regard, Nivea Dry Confidence has outperformed products I have tried which claim to be free of this problem.
What goes into it?
The ingredients list is available on the underside of the peel-back label and also on Nivea's website but I will include it here as some people have allergies and need to check products very carefully
* Aqua, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Steareth-2, Steareth-21, Parfum, Persea Gratissima, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Trisodium EDTA, Limonene, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Active Ingredient: 10% Aluminum Chlorohydrate
These would appear to be fairly standard ingredients for an anti-perspirant/deodorant. The only ingredient to take my attention was 'persea gratissima' - that's avocado to you and me. The oil from this fruit can soften and moisturise skin.
Availability and cost?
The only place I have been able to buy it in a store is Boots where it is £2.39. You can also buy it online from Ocado for £2.29 and Lloyd's Chemist online £2.50. This is more than I would usually like to pay for a roll-on
I realise I am straying into "anorak" territory here, but it's my background. I trained as a Clinical Physiologist and worked in both clinical and research areas. It was drummed into me that you can't make a statement unless you can support it with evidence. I expect the same standard from manufacturers who would like to persuade me to buy their goods. So there are two things I wanted to know more about:
Firstly the label states that the product is 'dermatalogically tested'. But who does the testing and on whom? I found a brief but reasonable answer to this on Nivea's website, part of which I will quote: "For dermatological testing, a product is tested on the skin of volunteers under the supervision of a dermatologist" Fair enough.
Secondly, the claim about 'minerals' - which minerals? What are their benefits? Could it be the potassium in the avocado or something in the other plant derived potions? If I ever find the answer I will be sure to tell you, but up to now I have drawn a blank on that one!
The bottle contains 150 ml.
Finally, Nivea state that the deodorant contains "no colour" and "no preservative" which could be important for allergy sufferers.
I was impressed with this product which was effective and left my skin feeling soft. The price is higher that I world normally pay for a deodorant but this one has earned its place in my bathroom cabinet.
(NB: This review appears on other sites under the same name.)
I'm always having to change deodorants because it's as if my armpits develop some sort of resistance to them after a while as odd as that may sound! This is the latest one I've tried - Nivea Dry Confidence Roll-On.
I bought this deodorant for just 80p or so in my local Home Bargains but it costs around £1.90 in most shops such as Superdrug and Boots so it is very reasonably priced. It's a white liquid which comes in a 50ml clear glass jar with a screw-up that is applied with a roll-on ball. It claims to give 24 hour protection.
It has quite a fresh smell which isn't too over-powering - it reminds me of clean laundry. This is great because it won't interfere with any other scented products you may be wearing and do to the lack of perfumes it will also be suitable for sensitive skin. I apply this by rolling it on to my underarms and then waiting for it to dry. It can take a couple of minutes to dry but it doesn't dry sticky or white like a lot of deodorants.
Overall I have been very pleased with this deodorant so far. It keeps me smelling fresh and stops me perspiring as much as usual. However, I've found that it doesn't live up to the claim of lasting for 24 hours. I usually have to apply this twice a day - once in the morning and then before bed to keep the "fresh" effect. After 24 hours it doesn't wear off completely (as in you won't end up smelling like BO) but it doesn't keep you dry and fresh smelling either.
I have been a very satisfied customer of Nivea when it comes to this deodorant. I've been using it for about 10 years now, and although I have tried other brands I always come back to this one! This deodorant is an anti persparant and it really keeps its promise. I have never ever been in a situation where I've had sweat marks under my arms whe I've used Nivea Dry, but with other brands, that has been happening.
The smell is lovely and quite neutral so you can wear other perfumes and not worry about wheter or not you're smelling like the perfume duty free shop at the airport.
It also dries quickly, which is very good but be aware that you might get white streaks if you haven't let it dry completely! Thankfully it does dry quickly too, although you should allow an extra minutes on hot summer days.
Another point is that I do have quite sensitive skin, but this is the only deodorant I can wear without my skin reacting to it!
I really like this deodorant, and I will (and have) recommend it fully. After all, I've been using it for a decade!
Who will like this product:
Girlies who want a deodrant that they can trust to last all day without ruining their clothes and with that their confidence.
What this product cost:
I bought my product at savers for £1.89 which is around the same price as it is listed in other shops, such as Superdrug, Boots and local Chemists.
This dermotalogically tested product is a roll-on deodrant which means the liquid can be applied to the underarms via a roll-on ball. This product is contained in a clear glass jar like bottle in which you can view the deodorant liquid which is white. It has a white screw top lid and the bottle contains 50ml of product, which has a 12 month shelf life. On the front the classic Nivea Logo is displayed. This product 'Dry Confidence,' claims to give 24hr protection and gentle care for your underarms and is infused with minerals whilst being alcohol, colourant and preservative free. This product has a light feminine scent, familiar to that of other Nivea products.
This product is a great roll on which smells realy nice. It is soft feeling on the underarms and ensures that you wont get white marks on your clothes which i havent had since using this. however after application it does take up to a minute to dry which is not ideal if you are in a rush. This product is small enough to fit in any handbag, but is not very light due to the nature of the glass packaging.
I?m always in search of the perfect deodorant so often try new ones at the supermarket. I generally buy them once or twice and, disappointed, move on to something else. However, I?ve now found one that I?ve been using for a good six months and have no desire to change. That particular product is Nivea roll-on, and I?m crossing my fingers like mad that it doesn?t disappear from the shelves like my previous favourite, Secret, so mysteriously did. The specifications: Nivea roll-on is widely available from chemists and supermarkets and currently retails for £1.88 at Tesco. For that you get 50 ml in a transparent glass container. Look, Feel & Smell: Nivea roll-on is a milky-white liquid with a slightly thick consistency and it smells subtle and slightly talcy ? just like the traditional Nivea face and body creams. Personally I find the smell very pleasant and not at all overpowering (which so many deodorants can be). Usage: Take off lid, invert container, roll under armpits a couple of times. You?ll find it glides on very easily indeed and gives a good coating with just a couple of rolls. Claims: Nivea roll-on is an anti-perspirant and deodorant. The deodorant bit means that it?s scented and masks smells, whilst the anti-perspirant bit is the all-important one in my opinion as it means it will stop you sweating. It claims to be kind to skin as it?s alcohol-free, and to work for 24 hours. Drying Performance: Very importantly, Nivea dries fast. There?s nothing more irritating when you?re getting ready to go out or go to work than to have to walk around the bedroom with your arms in the air for 5 minutes while your deodorant deigns to dry. You don?t have to do any of this with Nivea as it dries in seconds. Sweating & Smelling Performance: Nivea does indeed stop me sweating. I can put it on first thing in the morning with complete confiden
ce that it will keep my dry throughout a busy day in an at times unbearably hot office. By the end of the day, my armpits are dry as a bone and still infused with a subtle talcy smell. 24 Hour Performance: I?ve tested Nivea several times on this claim, and I?m delighted to report that one application works just as well after 24 hours as it does after just one or two. Skin Sensitivity Test: I?ve never had the slightest adverse reaction to Nivea roll-on, whereas every other 24 hour one I?ve tried has made my armpits feel as though they?ve been trawled through a big pile of nettles. White Marks Performance: The thing that bugs me about most deodorants is that they leave white marks on my dark clothes. With Nivea, as long as you give it a short time to dry before dressing, you get no white marks on your black jumpers whatsoever. It doesn?t even stain your black bra. Recommendation: Nivea roll-on is far and away the best anti-perspirant deodorant I?ve come across. It?s gentle on the skin and yet provides total protection for a good 24 hours if need be. Add to that the no white marks and you?ve got a definite winner. Nivea is more expensive than many other deodorants on the market, but for me it?s well worth the extra for something that performs so well with no nasty side-effects whatsoever.
The Nivea Deodorant Dry Roll-on with 24h efficacy guarantees a pleasantly dry skin feeling all day long /
