A good deodorant but not giving dry confidence on sweaty days!

For a while I have felt that my trusty Sure anti perspirant hasn't been just as effective, so I decided to try a variety of anti perspirants to see if I could find one that was suitable and effective. I have been trying a few new ones, based on which ones are on offer in my local Tesco and not long, Tesco had their Nivea antiperspirants on offer so it was a chance to try their range of anti perspirants as I was already familiar with the Nivea brand. I opted for the 'Dry Confidence' anti perspirant as I find I sweat quite easily and it is very very hot in my workplace during the Autumn and Winter months, although I need my warmer clothes outside of work.

Unlike the picture above, I think my deodorant is actually 'Dry Confidence Plus' as it claims to offer 48 hours of protection. I have never tried any anti perspirant for 48 hours so I wouldn't be able to comment on its effectiveness for that length of time, but for 24 hour usage, I would say that as long as I am not excessively sweating, this deodorant is effective in keeping me dry and smelling fresh. I don't feel sticky either. However there have been days when I have been very very busy at work and feeling under pressure or out of a fast walk, pushing my daughter in a buggy up the steep hill near our house and feeling very hot, and on those days, I do feel sticky and by the evening I am in desperate need of a shower to get fresh and smelling clean again, as I can feel a little smelly. I know this is only on days when I am excessively sweating and in general this deodorant works well, but I still want a deodorant where I don't have to worry about how sweaty I might be, and that I will still be smelling fresh and clean at the end of the day.

This is a dermatologically approved anti perspirant with no alcohol, preservatives or colourants, and claims to have a light feminine scent. I would agree with the light scent, as there is a freshness to it that isn't overpowering but very pleasant when you apply it onto your skin.

I would probably purchase this product again for the days when I know I won't be excessively sweating as I can be sure on a normal day it will keep me dry and fresh. However, for those days when I expect to be busy or under pressure or know I will be sweating a lot, I think I will continue to look for something else to give me that 'dry confidence' which this product doesn't on those days!

A great product yet again from Nivea!

I love buying myself new toiletries whether I need them or not in fact and the other day I was mooching through my local Boots store when I saw this product on offer for 99p and opposed to closer to the £2.00 price mark usually I decided that I'd get a can as its the type of product I use every day anyway!

        The Packaging:

The can holds 150ml of the spray and is white in colour with a matching push down aerosol style dispenser to the top of it and a white coloured safety cap/lid that covers that. On the front of it we are told that it is Nivea, Dry Confidence 'Gentle Care', 24h 'Feel dry and confident with minerals, 0% alcohol and that it is an Anti-Perspirant Deodorant and the weight is stated (as I have listed already). On the back of the can we are told a bit about the product and how to use it, ingredients and warnings are listed and contact details for Biersdorf are given (the manufacturer of the product). Nice enough white and light pink coloured can this is and I do like the indentation to the top of it or ease of handling.

        Using It:

Well to use this you do so as you would do any other anti-perspirant and thats to spray it at arms length onto clean armpits of course lol. This goes on almost as a layer of grease and it glistens when put on but then it dries onto the skin in seconds leaving the armpit area soft, supple and smooth and with no feeling of residue or anything transfered onto clothes at all. I can spray this onto freshly shaved armpits too without getting a rash or anything adverse happening there at all which is always a bonus lol.

The fragrance of this is really odd of this one which as I have stated is the one in the pink and white can. Its nice enough and very feminine don't get me wrong but sort of floral and really sweet and once sprayed on this fragrance lingers on your skin and clothes a good couple of hours.

        Does It Work?:

Absolutely I love this deodorant! My skin feels great when its on, and it keeps bo at bay for hours and hours. The smell lingers for a good amount of time too and I don't get so soggy under my arms at all now and I feel this is a really good quality, hard-working every day type of product and I can highly recommend it with confidence!

Available in all good chemists and supermarkets.

Steer clear, not worth it even if its dirt cheap.

Having used Nivea products and been happy with them in the past, when I ran out of my old deodorant I decided to give this one a go. I'm afraid I've been a little disappointed by it and don't feel it lives up to the high quality and good reputation of Nivea's other products.

Dry Confidence is an aerosol deodorant, which claims to work for around 24 hours and not to leave white marks. It fails on both claims! The spray has quite a strong smell when you first spray it and is the sort that really gets into your nose and leaves a nasty taste on the back of the throat, even if you only use a small amount. The scent dissipates quite quickly once its on your skin though.

This deodorant does leave white marks, in fact, its one of the worst for white marks I've ever used! I've found I need to shake the can well, spray the first bit into the air, and then rub the white powder into my skin after I've sprayed it on in order to avoid getting it all over my clothes!

As for effectiveness, I'd say its ok, but nothing special. The 24 hour claim is outrageous, maybe it might be true in the depths of winter if you aren't wearing many layers and don't go into any heated areas, but in summer it really doesn't help you feel fresh on a hot sticky day when you have to move around further than to the freezer for an ice cube and back.

I'm afraid I can't recommend this product, its been a bit of a let down all round really.
