Advantages: It works well, smells nice and there are no white marks

Disadvantages: None for me

These days my deodorant of preference is the new Body Shop one which I love but, if I get a decent voucher from Boots or Tesco, I am happy to try others. This is how I came to be using Nivea Invisible Black and White Deodorant.

I always choose the roll on version of deodorants which I find convenient and easy to use. I have always found the aerosol ones catch the back of my throat and make me cough when I spray them. The other problem in our house is that Mew (our cat!) hates anything that I have to spray into the air as the mist settles on him and he runs away as though his tail is on fire!

As I said earlier I bought my deodorant with a voucher so I only paid a few pence for it but it is currently on sale in Boots at £1.99 for 50ml although they are currently on offer at two for £3 across the Nivea range. If you do like Nivea deodorants it is always worth waiting for offers in Boots as they come along with great regularity.

Anyway let's get down to business and review the Nivea Invisible Black and White deodorant.

Unusually the container for the deodorant is made from glass which of course is recycleable, so I am happy with that. The label on the front has the dark blue Nivea logo and, not surprisingly, is in black and white (with a bit of feminine pink) if you want to find it on the shelves.

The information on the label tells me that this deodorant will give me gentle care and will protect my clothes from yellow stains and white marks. This is something that is great for me as being a little on the cuddly side I tend to wear dark colours a lot - they are more slimming than pastels! LOL!

The glass container stands in the bathroom cupboard with the plastic screw on lid at the top. The lid of the container is rounded at the top which means that, when the container is almost empty and I need to stand it upside down to make sure that I use all the deodorant before recycling the glass, it is not an easy job. I am used to using the Body Shop deodorant which, although it stands upright with the ball at the top, the lid has a flat top so it is easy to stand it upside down once it is almost finished. Sorry Nivea that's one up to Body Shop in my opinion.

The glass container itself has a sort of dent in the back of it which makes it easy to grip. Once you have unscrewed the cap you will find a fairly big ball - ooer missus! This makes actually applying the deodorant to your underarms nice and easy. The deodorant always runs freely and I have had no problem with it drying out.

This deodorant smells really nice and although I find fragrances very difficult to describe I will have a go. It is sweet and flowery without being sickly - I would say that it is more of a fresh clean sort of fragrance if you see what I mean.

It feels wet when I apply it but it does dry very quickly which is a big advantage for any roll on deodorant as far as I am concerned. At least it means that I don't have to walk round that bathroom flapping my arms up and down before I can get dressed.

The deodorising and antiperspirant effect lasts all day even in hot weather, and when I am out in the garden sawing and chopping wood for our log burner! I also work on the prom here in Llandudno every Sunday selling lifeboat souvenirs and, despite the fact that I am running about for about nine hours, I still have fresh underarms. Let's face it - it wouldn't be very nice for members of the public if I had BO! Yuk!

On Sunday I wear a dark navy blue polo shirt or a black tee shirt and there are never any white marks from this deodorant. I also find that I can get dressed quickly in the morning without getting any marks on my clothes too.

Being a roll on, it is in a small container making it ideal to take on holiday, and as it contains no propellant it can be taken on an aeroplane with no fear of explosions. The only problem here is that, being a glass container, it is heavier than the ones in plastic containers.

The other advantage of using a roll on deodorant is that it is kind to the environment, as it does not contain any CFC gases.

In conclusion I would have to say that I am very impressed with this deodorant - it works well, it doesn't leave any marks on my clothing and I love the fragrance!

Summary: A great fresh smelling deodorant
