I use several Nivea products. I saw an advertisement on TV so I recently bought a package of Nivea Pearl & Beauty Roll On Deodorant on promo which contained 2 deodorants and a free pouch. I like that its smell is very subtle and it does not leave any color stains on my clothing but I do prefer clear deodorants over the white ones. I'm actually quite picky when it comes to deodorants since I do experience some allergic reaction to some though not the severe kind. This is currently my deodorant of choice and I have yet to experience any allergic reaction to it. Two deodorants for a price of one plus a pouch, not bad. This is a relatively cheap product and works well. The bottle looks nice as well and so is the free pouch. I think I found my go-to-deodorant. I do see myself purchasing another after my supply runs out.
The NIVEA Pearl & Beauty Deodorant is available for GBP 2.29.
The deodorant is described as follows. "NIVEA Pearl & Beauty Deodorant – for beautiful, smooth underarms. Together with NIVEA’s 48-hour protection against underarm wetness and odour, its caring formula with precious pearl extracts leaves underarms feeling soft and looking beautiful. It’s the perfect combination of NIVEA‘s mild care and reliable protection."
The ingredients are Butane, Isobutane, Propane, Cyclomethicone, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Parfum, Butyloctanoic Acid, Hydrolyzed Pearl, Persea Gratissima Oil, Octyldodecanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Talc, Geraniol and Benzyl Alcohol.
When I used the Pearl & Beauty for the first time, I was already blown away the scent. The is fresh, creamy and female. It is fortunately not is sweet or intrusive. The scent is also relatively intense even when used sparingly. I spray the deodorant daily morning after showering and also when it is very hot during the day and I get one or two times a sweat, I can rely on it to experience any nasty surprises. The wonderful fragrance will with increasing sweat rather more intensively. Clearly, before the typical moisture development under the armpits, it does not protect. But the effect I've never had a product that has kept dry shoulders. Maybe is not so healthy, I think. Anyway - the protection lasts all day. 24 hours of course not, but who needs that? After at least 24 hours, I am anyway already in the shower, so I do not need. So this is not a disadvantage for me. For me personally also particularly important in Deo is always that it does not make white patches under the armpits to the clothes. Well, I must say, in the variant of Nivea, that I'm quite happy. The scent is very pleasant, the deodorant protection lasts all day and also the compatibility properly. The slight white edges on the clothes, it has for nothing, so I would therefore also deduct no star. So I forgive all five stars and a recommendation.
As someone who suffers from bad smelling under arm perspiration, I've been through many diferent deoderants that either claim to prohibit sweating all together, mask or stop the smell, kill bacteria and even moisturise the underarms. I shower everyday and still find it hard to get rid of the classic body odour.
I originally bought this product for its low price, I think it was around the £1.80 mark in Boots a few months ago which is very cheap considering that some of the other leading brands such as Sure and Mitchum are £3 or more. Since the price of the deoderant was so low I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly suprised. It smells beautiful and not too strong like some of the sprays that choke you up.
The real down side about with deoderant is the amount of time it takes to dry - it just doesn't. I've found that I now have to take a warm hairdryer to my armpits to help it dry before I put my clothes on, if I just leave it I'll have sweat patches in a matter on minutes. I think it's a real shame that underarm roll-n deoderants no longer have any alcohol in them.
Unlike Mitchum roll-on which dries white and powdery, this Sure roll on dries clear with a small amount of white dust, but I've never got it on my clothes which is a massive bonus. All in all I think it's a mediocre roll-on that stops sweating if applied properly and dried before clothes are put on.
I always use roll on anti-perspirants, but I must admit I usually when buying I usually just get what is on special offer and I bought this on a two for the price of three offer. I got the 50 ml size, which lasts quite a long time. But I usually get Nivea products as they are a good brand, gentle on skin. I love the packaging, it comes in a glass bottle, which in this size would probably make it a bit heavy to keep it in your handbag for when you are out. The label is a nice pearl effect and pink and girly. This roll on has a lovely scent and it works as effectively as any I have used, even in very hot conditions at work, on the go all the time, this producct doesn't let you down, you don't have to worry that you should be reapplying it every few hours. you can apply it and know it with last you all day. As with all roll ons the only down side is that they don't dry instantly, but I think this is a small price to pay for all the other advantages.
Deodorant is one of those essentials which I have to have, but don't really devote a lot of time to shopping for. I tend to flit between a couple of brands (usually Nivea and Dove) and try out different fragrances within those brands but, in general, I usually buy whatever is on offer. My current anti-perspirant is a very large Nivea Pearl and Beauty spray. I bought this some time ago as part of a Boots offer.
* Product Info *
In terms of packaging, Nivea Pearl and Beauty is definitely nothing to write home about. It is simply a pale pearlescent pink can, with a white plastic lid covering the spray nozzle. The graphics on the can are the familiar blue Nivea logo, the name of the product, a promise of 'smooth and beautiful underarms' and a few pink bubbles. There are a few product performance claims on the packaging - the first is that it lasts for 48 hours. This is something I've noticed on a lot of anti-perspirants in recent months and, to be honest, isn't something that I really believe in. The other claim is that the pearl extract will leave you with 'smooth and beautiful underarms' - again, not a big deal as far as I'm concerned as my underarms are not a particular area of concern in beauty terms. The deodorant is dermatologically approved for 'skin tolerance' and does not contain any alcohol or colourants.
* Performance *
I don't feel that I really need to explain how to use an anti-perspirant spray, other than to mention that the bottle says that you need to shake it well before use and allow it to dry completely before getting dressed. The shaking element is particularly important - in my experience, if you don't shake this product really well prior to application, you end up covered in white powder. Not great when you are rushing to get ready in the morning. When well shaken, it sprays easily and dries relatively quickly - I tend to leave it about 30 seconds before getting dressed and, by that point, my underarms are dry to the touch. The fragrance of this product is nothing special - it is a slightly soapy scent with floral undertones which is pleasant enough, but not very exciting. However, it doesn't clash with perfumes or scented body products which I feel is important.
In terms of longevity of protection, I find that performance is mixed. On an average day, when I'm wearing non-synthetic fabrics and not doing more exercise than a gentle stroll, then it performs very well. However, if I'm wearing the wrong kind of clothes and doing a quick uphill power-walk to the station to catch my morning train, it sometimes doesn't seem to work well at all and my underarms get very hot and sweaty. This is only a 20 minute walk and I'd expect better performance than that, particularly from something that claims to last for 48 hours. Needless to say, it doesn't offer a lot of protection on my morning run either - although as I jump straight in the shower on my return, that isn't a big deal.
* Price and Purchasing *
The RRP of the 250ml bottle that I have is £3.29 but it is currently available for £1.64 in Boots. Smaller bottles are also available. Value for money at the discounted price is ok as it does last a long time, but there are better performing products available at a similar price.
* Would I recommend it? *
I think the answer to that question is 'not really'... my 250ml bottle is now almost empty and, to be honest, I am pleased that I will be able to move on to another product. The majority of the time the performance is ok and it offers a reasonable level of protection, but there are some times where it just doesn't seem to work at all. On top of this, it is much flakier than I would like - you really do have to put some effort into shaking it to guarantee that there won't be any white flakes and, when it does flake, there are a lot of flakes. I'm giving it three stars as a average rating because that's what it is - a very average product.
I must say that I have struggled to find a right deodorant for myself for a very long time. For one reason or another, Deodorants that I tried out did not live up to my expectation. I believe due to the pheromones in our bodies different scents react differently. I felt that certain products did not smell just right after a few hours or some were not as long lasting to get me through the day.
I received Nivea Pearl & Beauty miniature version for the first time as a winter seasonal gift. I used it for a couple of days and really loved the way it smelt on me. Once it ran out, I decided to get this Deodorant again. Lucky for me I grabbed it at a bargain for only £1.
Following is the further breakdown of what I think about this Product:
It is in a glass bottle so a bit on the heavier side. However, feels very nice cooling in the hand when you grab it. The lid is made out of plastic which you have to turn and twist it. Inside is a Roller Ball. The sticker on it is feminine with pearls on it which I really like to look at.
It has a feminine smell which once on smells really nice. It isn't exactly floral but you can tell it is a ladies smell. It is not too overpowering either and I find it very refreshing to put it on after a shower.
Performance - Does it last 48 Hours?
Well the simple answer is, it depends on the level of strenuous activity you are involved in. I don't feel that it lasts two days (my bottle says 48 h) but for me it definitely lasts a full day and the after morning until I have another shower . I don't have to top up again so I am very pleased with the performance. I feel it does protect from the sweat building up.
It has 0% Alcohol and is dermatologically tested so I find it suits my sensitive skin and does not cause irritation.. However, this is a trial and error process for some people as different skin types react differently. Also, my underarms do feel significantly smoother after I put this on.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, most definitely. It smells great and it is long lasting. Maybe not as long lasting as the packaging claims to be but still very good. As long as a deodorant lasts me a full day, I don't really mind.
I have to be honest and say I notice price tags more than I do the actual products when I'm out shopping. I'd therefore never heard of nor had I seen this Nivea Pearl And Beauty roll-on deodorant before purchasing it. The only reason I considered it was because it was on offer and was reduced to £1.
When I saw this on the shelf I thought the packaging looked lovely and it made me want to try the product. The product comes in a glass bottle which has a label on the front which is shiny white and rainbow coloured like shell or mother of pearl. The label on the front has a few bits of information about the product printed on it such as the fact that it provides 48 hour protection and also that it contains pearl extract and no alcohol. There is a label on the back that requires you to peel off a section to reveal full ingredients, directions for use, contact information for the brand and a more thorough explanation of what the product provides.
This is an anti-perspirant which means it acts to stop you sweating. It is dermatologically tested to ensure suitability with sensitive skin. It does not contain any colourants or drying alcohol. As this is made by a company known for their moisturisers the brand claim the deodorant is infused with softening ingredients to provide "gentle Nivea care" although they are not specific about what this actually means.
The product comes in a 50ml sized glass bottle. There aren't many roll-on's still using glass bottles nowadays. One of the reasons for this might be the fact that the glass container is so heavy. This is not a deodorant I'd ever choose to buy if I was going on holiday and wanted to pack something. It would add so much weight to my bags. I don't even want to take this to the sports centre with me as it's so chunky. The product has a twist off lid and a plastic rollerball dispenser.
The product is easy to apply. The deodorant formula is easily transferred onto the rollerball and then onto my skin. The application is completely smooth and soft. There are no plastic bits on the edge of the rollerball that catch my skin.
When I apply this deodorant it does not irritate my skin in any way. It is one of those deodorants that take a while to dry though so you have to waft your arms around for about 40 seconds until you sense it's dry. This is a little bit annoying.
The deodorant has a lovely scent. It's very mild, delicate and ladylike and it reminds me of blossom and fresh summery days. The scent is definitely created for women only. You can smell the fragrance when you apply and during the day it masks any unwanted sweaty odours. The scent has that freshness which is perfect for smelling good all day long.
I am quite a sweaty person because I suffer from an anxiety condition. This means any deodorant I use tends to have to work harder than it would for regular people! Trying this deodorant out gradually in situations where I might get a little sweaty was satisfying. The deodorant works really well to stop any wetness and odour. The best way I can tell if a deodorant is effective is if I don't notice myself sweating or smelling and my underarms feel fresh and dry all day. I'm happy to say that this deodorant achieved this! At the end of the day my underarm skin also feels really smooth and not parched or damaged. I haven't needed 48 hour protection but applying this in the morning gives my ample protection until night time.
I am happy with the way this deodorant works, how it smells and how it leaves my skin feeling. However, the heavy glass container means I'm only happy to use this one at home and it's not really portable. I also would like it to dry faster after application. However, overall I'm pleased with this and would buy it again.
I usually use spray deodorants as I prefer the convenience and effectiveness of them, occasionally I will try a roll on deodorant as they seem better value for money and better to be used around my asthmatic Husband.
The roll on deodorant I have been trying out recently has been the Nivea Pearl & Beauty. My daughter gave me this out of a Christmas gift pack, but it can usually be brought for around a £1 from most supermarkets, chemists and retailers of toiletries.
The deodorant comes in a small glass bottle with a plastic screw off lid, the bottle is quite nice looking as it has a pearl sheen to it. The bottle contains 50ml of liquid that is easily applied to the underarm area using the plastic roller ball that is on the top of the bottle. The roller ball works well and moves smoothly applying an even layer of deodorant, I have never trapped my skin or stray hairs in the roller.
The deodorant promises me 48 hours of gentle care, I usually shower once a day and then apply deodorant so I can't comment on its effectiveness over 48 hours and to be honest I would not want to test it over that time period as the deodorant is usually giving up the ghost by the time I am ready for a shower the following day. The deodorant also promises beautiful underarms, taking all things into consideration I would have to say my underarms look nice and smooth and feel soft, not really any different to usual but at least the roll on has not irritated my skin.
The scent of the roll on is very subtle, it is floral, powdery and sweet. The scent is not really a consideration for me as I like a deodorant to be subtle because I like to wear scented body sprays or perfumes each day depending on my mood.
The one major down side for me when using a roll on is the drying time, it is not just this roll on though, every roll on I have ever used has had a long drying time, even on a day where I am not busy I dislike having to wait around for my armpits to dry, I find the stickiness before the deodorant dries to be quite uncomfortable. I would estimate that it takes around five minutes for the deodorant to dry fully.
All things considered the Nivea Pearl & Beauty roll on does the job, it keeps my armpits fresh between showers, does not irritate my skin and is safe to use around my asthmatic Husband and value for money is excellent as I have been using this roll on for a couple of weeks now and I estimate that I have 4/5 left in the bottle, I would have used a spray deodorant up in this length of time.
I give this product 4 out of 5 stars, removing one for the lengthy drying time.
Thank you for reading x
I don't usually use roll-on deodorants, preferring the quick-drying effects of aerosols. However, when I received this in a gift set at Christmas, I thought I'd give it a go.
The product comes in 25ml or 50ml bottles- I received the 25ml bottle. The lid is white and pearlescent, the label is also pearlescent with the usual Nivea logo at the top. The bottle itself is made of glass and is quite heavy for what I assume is a travel-size product.
The product itself is fairly quick-drying for a roll-on, which is good because I dislike deodorants that take ages to dry. It smells really nice, which is always a plus, and is quite creamy. I have found that a lot of roll-on deodorants can sting my underarms when I use them, but this one does not.
The label claims that it is a "48 hour" product, which is not really true- I have found that it only actually works for a few hours at a time. This is a downside of the product because I am used to my deodorants working for the majority of the day.
Overall, I think that this is a good product, but it doesn't work long enough for my needs. If you use roll-ons then this may be a great product for you, but those of us who use aerosols may find that it doesn't quite suit our needs.
I don't believe that I would buy this product for myself, but I would use it again if I was given it.
I usually buy Sure products for deodorant purposes but for my recent trip to Athens I simply picked up whichever one they had on the shelf in my local Wilkinsons where I stocked up, and it just so happened to be this product my Nivea. While I'd used Nivea products before, they were usually creams of some variety and so I had no idea if this deodorant would be very effective, but luckily, as I found out while there, it was and provided long lasting anti-perspirant protection.
While I bought a pint-sized travel version of the product which was 35ml, an ordinary bottle is 250ml. The bottle is a pale lilac colour and there are purple spheres as the design in shapes which I suppose are meant to resemble pearls. The trigger (if you can call it that) for releasing the spray is a pale pink and shaped to provide a good grip for easy application. This was actually quite useful for me as due to time constraints and having to leave in under 5 minutes at times, I could easily apply it even after having just showered and still being a little wet.
The smell is as you'd expect of a deodorant, neither flowery like a body spray nor too masculine either. It is surprisingly strong however it did mean I have the confidence to go about as I pleased without worrying too much about any sweating. This, again, was particularly helpful as in Athens the heat during the day was around 35degrees and so it was nice having some extra assurance.
The travel sized product costs about £1 whereas a larger bottle can be anywhere between £2.00-2.99. There is also a roll on variety which I've heard is basically the same, but obviously would suit people who prefer rollons to ordinary spray versions.
The product does actually leave my armpits feeling softer and because there is no alcohol in the spray, its possible to apply right after shaving. This is a huge benefit for me as I'm always running late and tend to leave the house five minutes after showering or getting out of bed.
Overall this is a great product that I would recommend to others. It is long lasting and I found that it worked for the entire day despite Athens' very hot weather. The smell isn't as plain as some other deodorants I have tried so I can wear it on its own, but I do tend to spray a body spray as a kind of overcoat as then I can actually smell a fragrance. I would buy again if I could get it around the £2 as some places do tend to sell the larger bottle for a pretty pricey amount for a simple deodorant.
~The look of the product~
The product is quite heavy for a deodorant so I would say it is not something you would be able to carry around in your handbag. I must admit I was rather attracted to the bottle because it looks so girly and pinky pearl colour. On the front the product claims that it lasts for 48 hours, contains pearl extracts with 0% alcohol and provides beautiful arms. On the back there is one of the peel off labels which provides further information on the product (not very easy to see if you are choosing to purchase in a shop based on the information on the container) "With precious Peal Extracts for soft, beautiful underarms. 48 hour confidence, anti-perspirant protection. Alcohol free, no colourants, dermatologically approved." So overall the product does look beautiful and girly, but the weight of the bottle does put me off slightly as being practical.
~The price~ and ~Value for money~
A 50ml container of Pearl and Beauty Deodorant (Roll on) costs around £2.10 and deodorant is a tricky one to estimate how much you use each time, so this is a really approximate guess 1/2ml (half a ml) per use (3 rolls on each armpit) so per use that is £0.02 per use which I would say is good value for money for a standard deodorant. I would be willing to pay a little more if the product was to last for the 48 hours that it claims, please read below for my full personal experience.
As explained above, I do not feel as though the product lasts for the 48 hours it claims, really I feel as though I am comfortably protected for 12 hours without feeling as though I need to apply more. I enjoy using the product as it does provide a fresh scent, but I do not understand how it provides beautiful arms, I have not noticed any change from the first use or after repeated use. However I do have to say it has left my armpits feeling smoother/softer and it is a nice product to use for first application of deodorant after shaving. Again to reiterate it is not very practical to carry around which is a slight let down, as it does need application again after around 12 hours. The bottle is an easy to apply standard roll on application and it does not get jammed like some other roll on deodorants do.
~The smell~and~the look/feel of product~
The smell of this product is a flowery scent but when smelling on the lid it is fairly overpowering, however once applied it is a gently fresh smell, which you are able to smell through clothing and it does provide some confidence that you are not smelling. The feel of the product is a soft luxurious feel, and the look of the product is a pearl colour, but is clear upon application.
I would rate this product as 3/5 as it looks good and smells good. I would rate this product as more if it lived up to the claim of lasting 48 hours rather than the 12 I feel it lasts comfortably for. Please feel free to comment on anything you wish to know about the product but which I have not put in this review, I have tried to write about everything I would wish to know but a few things may have escaped my mind.
I have been looking for a decent deodorant since god knows when and finally, all the searching paid off and I found Nivea pearl and beauty!
I found it mostly by accident, I got so bored of searching that I just ended up buying the cheapest decent-looking deodorant I could find, and there it was! I buy this deodorant everytime I go to Wilkinson's and it only costs me £1! Usually I would be wary of such a cheap product but I know Nivea is a brand I can trust!
The deodorant has a sort of flowery fragrance which smells amazing and lasts me all day (although I usually like to freshen up when I get home from work anyway.) And I usually have issues with deodorants because my under arms are quite sensitive but nivea causes me no problems! And the best bit? No white marks!
So if you're looking for a nice smelling deodorant, that won't make your skin itch or mark your clothes, you've got it right here with my recommendations!
I recently began using this deodrant because I am sucker for cute packaging! The Nivea deodrant comes in a glass bottle with a while lid, but the label on the deodrant is irridescent and so when the bottle is turned it reflects a pink and purple colour which adds that extra sparkle so to speak.
The deodrant itself is pretty standard in application, it has a rollerball which you use to apply the product, which is a white liquid which when applied is clear. The biggest selling point of this deodrant is that it states it contains pearl extract and has 48 hour protection. As far as the pearl extract goes, I am not entirely sure what effect this would have, except to make the product moisturising perhaps? I have to say I don't find the product drying but I wouldn't say it is overly moisturising either. I also don't find that the product offers 48 hour protection as it needs applying daily. I find that a lot of deodrants make similar claims however and don't live up to them so I am not put off this product as a result. I do however find that this deodrant manages to keep me smelling fresh all day and think it works very effectively, therefore I have just repurchased a second bottle. The scent of the deodrant is very pleasant, it is refreshing, light and could be described a delicate scent. It doesn't really have any staying power on the skin, but I don't really require that from a deodrant.
Overall I give this product a 5/5, because although it doesn't live up to the claims on the cover it works very well for me generally and I am happy with it as a deodrant/antipersprint. I can regularly pick this product up for about a pound per bottle as well, so it proves to be economical as it lasts a few weeks. I would recommend giving this a go if you are looking for something new.
While looking through the shelves of travel-sized miniatures for rally toiletries, I noticed a dinky glass bottle of roll-on deodorant. The small-sized version of Nivea's Pearl & Beauty Roll-On Deodorant contains 25ml of product, compared to the full-sized 50ml bottle. I thought this would be perfect, so I bought it. I wasn't disappointed.
So, first thing first - the packaging:
It comes in a lovely, straight glass bottle with a bluntly rounded cap made of white plastic. It has a graphic of some pearls on the front in pearlised pink with the traditional Nivea logo near the top. I like the simplicity of the design and feel it looks good on a dressing table. The shape is such that you could easily locate it in your bag.
The deodorant claims it is perfect for beautiful, smooth underarms and that it is ideal for use after shaving. It contains pearl extracts to leave you feeling smooth and cared for. There is no alcohol or colours used in it, and the version I have been testing claims it gives 48-hour protection. A lot of other roll-on type deodorants have been making the 48-hour protection claim lately, so I was interested to see whether it lived up to it.
The cap twisted off easily, and at first glance the roller ball beneath was dry. This is not uncommon, as the product settles in transit and dries when on the shelves for a time. An index finger pulled across moved the ball enough to see the glistening product sliding on. The smell was one of the first things I noticed. It smells beautiful - almost like a perfume. The scent is quite warm and floral, quite unlike any of the "fresh" fragrances normally found in roll-on deodorants. This would work well with perfume, and as you warm up so does the scent, so you could get away without it.
I was keen to see whether I could use this deodorant immediately after shaving. The milky consistency did go on smoothly and felt luxurious, and it didn't sting at all. One big disappointment is that it takes a very long time to dry, so if you need to dress in a hurry it could put you off. However, when dry it leaves a powdery barrier against day to day sweating.
A quick look at my armpits midway through the day reveals the product seems to be working. There is a bit of white residue built up in the wrinkles but it isn't overly noticeable. The scent is still as fragrant as when I put it on and there are no signs of sweat. I have tried this product while doing the odd aerobic workout and, while I have sweated through the deodorant, I haven't smelt afterwards.
As for the 48-hour claim. I took this with me to a bike rally and applied it on the Friday morning before we left. Throughout a warm and very humid day it was fine and still seemed fresh at the end of the day. I woke up on the second morning and had a sniff, and I could still smell the deodorant rather than me - all good. I didn't put any more on to see if it would last for the rest of the second day. It did. Before bed on the Saturday evening I had a smell and, OK, so it wasn't as fresh as when I'd first applied it, I didn't smell bad. As we were leaving on the following morning and could bathe when we got home, I didn't apply any more. For daily freshness, apply it daily but if you accidentally forget then you won't be caught out.
Overall, I think this deodorant is good value for money. The only downside I have noticed has been the length of time it takes to dry - otherwise this is a great product. I've been using this miniature version for a few weeks now and the product doesn't seem to have gone down very much. At time of writing, the product retails at around £2, but careful shopping around will find an offer.
I would definitely buy this product again. I couldn't possibly comment as to whether my armpits look more beautiful, but they do smell nice and feel a bit smoother.
Nivea deodorant Pearl & Beauty Roll-on ¹ for beautiful, smooth underarms / Together with Niveaãs best ever 24-hour protection against underarm wetness and odour, its innovative formula with precious pearl extracts leaves underarms feeling smooth and cared for and looking beautiful /
