“ Brand: Original Source / Type: Spray / Gender: for men / Suitable for: Body „
Since trying the Original Source lime shower gel last winter, I've become quite the Original Source nut - I eat, sleep and drink Original Source...Well, not quite. But it is my number one choice for shower gels. I noticed this product last week in a local Boots store, as well as several other Original Source anti-perspirants such as the Sea Kelp and Rock Salt and the Olive Wood and Hemp anti-perspirant. Anyway I thought I would give it a go for £2.44 for 200ml, which was the same price as other leading brands.
What is Original Source?
Original Source is a brand brought to us by PZ Cussons, the same company to give us Imperial Leather and Carex. They first acquired Original Source in 2002 and have since become quite popular in the United Kingdom as well as other countries. They sell shampoo products, as well as shower gels, deodorant/anti-perspirant, shaving gels as well as other products. They are part of the Aromatherapy Trade Council, which binds the company by rules and high standards, as well as sharing ethical views. Original Source also works very closely with the Vegan Society. Both of these factors mean that Original Source try to use all natural products, do not test on animals and try to be ecological as possible, which they do by sourcing and creating most of their products for the UK market in the UK. All of their products use plant and fruit extracts, as well as containing unspecified 'essential oils'. Their website claims this about the ingredients;
"They are renowned for their physiological and psychological benefits to keep you healthy and fighting fit which incidentally, we're all for."
As well as this, you can find information on what all of their products are known for.
As with most Original Source packaging, it is very aesthetic and gives the product a very natural feel. The bottle itself stands at around 15cm tall, with a diameter of 5cm, making it very ergonomic as well and easy to angle when you are using it. The bottle itself is metal, but the top is plastic and requires you to turn the lid anti-clockwise to align it with the spraying mechanism. When it is aligned you will notice a click and the fact that you can see the bit where the spray comes out, as well as the fact that you can press down on the lid.
The label clearly states the brand, the fact that it is a product for men, what the product is, and the fragrance as well an image of sage leaves at the bottom. What more do you need? As with all products, the real information is on the back. There is an introduction to the product, claiming that even Alexander the Great was 'into' male grooming. The directions state that the product must be sprayed at 6 inches away from the armpit and not to put it in your eyes. The ingridents are stated, as well as storage instructions, which instruct the owner not to leave it in conditions over 50 degrees. So don't put it in your microwave. As well as this, there are all the general logos such as "Solvent abuse can kill instantly" "Vegan" and "Recyclable". The Pz Cussons logo is also there somewhere, with contact details and 200ml.
The product itself.
The website for Original Source, www.originalsource.co.uk doesn't have any information on white sage and juniper. I suppose they just chose them because they smell nice. But anyway, like all other Original Source products, this is vegan friendly, from England, and not tested on animals, so if the opposite of any of them bother you, this product is something you should look into. It claims to be reliable and work for 24 hours with low whitening. The ingredients are as follows;
"Butane, Isobutane, Propane, Isopropyl, Myristate, Aluminium Chlorohydrate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cyclomethicone, Distearimonium Hectorite, Parfum, Dimethicone, Propyline Carbonate, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Salvia Officinalis, Coumarin, Tocopherol, Juniperus Communis Leaf Extract."
The first half sounds like something my mother would put in her car, but all together, compared to products such as Lynx, it's a hell of a lot more natural.
My opinion on this product.
The packaging is really nice, modern, and tells you everything you need to know and more about the product. I think that unlike many other brands, this one has less of a sport appeal, as it is not a sports brand and mentions nothing about keeping you from perspiring whilst doing sports, and it generally has a very grown up feel about it. The bottle I currently have has a few dents though, when I bought it. This might be a one off, generally I keep the product in a bag which I take with me everywhere so it'll get dented anyway I imagine. It does feel a lot stronger than Lynx or Adidas bottles.
I don't believe for a second that any anti-perspirant will last 24 hours, but it will last most of the day. It really has made a difference. I really enjoy the fragrance as well, it's very different and I've never used anything like it before - other sprays I have used have a very chemical smell to them, or an unnatural smell, but this product is quite the opposite, and very fresh! I have noticed that the product is white when it has been sprayed into the air, so you can see where you've sprayed, but it does not cause white patches on clothes or anything which is great!
Each 200ml bottle lasts me about 1 month, but I am very conservative with my spraying! Another plus to this product is that it's generally about the same price as other leading brands! It's well worth checking this product out.
After seven music reviews in a row I thought I would review something different and as I had requested this product to be put on Dooyoo I decided that I would review this now. The story of my experience with this Anti-Perspirant begins in my local Sainsbury's. I usually use one from either Adidas, Gillette, Lynx or Ted Baker so decided to look for something different not because I had a bad experience with any of them but just to try something different. As I had liked the look of Original Source products I opted for the Original Source White Sage and Juniper Anti-Perspirant. Looking at the can I thought here's a smart looking deodorant, I sprayed a little of the tester and was very pleased with the smell so I took advantage of the offer and added two cans into my trolley and carried on shopping.
Original Source are mainly known for their range of shower gels but they also do other products for men and women. The White Sage and Juniper Anti Perspirant is one of five deodorants in the Original Source for men range. The others remind me of the madness of Lush with Black Walnut and Sandalwood, Olive Wood and Hemp seed, Sea Kelp and White Tea and finally Rock Fennel and Icelandic Moss. They are currently on offer at 2 for £3 which is not a bad deal as they usually cost £2.44 which on it's own is not that bad really considering some of the similar deodorants which can be upwards of £3 each.
**Original Source White Sage and Juniper Anti-Perspirant**
I was attracted to this deodorant because of the look of the can which stands out from the almost plain cans of Lynx and Adidas deodorants. At the bottom you can see the white sage and juniper that makes up this deodorant. Like many other deodorants this one has a screw cap which is easy to use and the spray motion works well. So what does this deodorant smell like? Well that is the best part of this particular deodorant as on spraying this you will instantly get the very fresh scent which is subtle yet strong enough to give you good protection.
I was impressed with this deodorant's ability to keep you fresh throughout the day which is always imperative when using an Anti-Perspirant. I also enjoyed the smell which for me was the best thing about the deodorant. The deodorant was also quite good with reducing white marks which some anti perspirant's suffer from. The real downside though was that When I used it yesterday I noticed when I took my top off that a load of material had got stuck to my arm-pit hair which was a bugger to get out. I told my brother about this drawback and he joked whether it was actually called White Sage and Juniper pva after the glue which I thought was pretty funny but sadly not all that different from the actual result.
Ask yourself whether you would prefer a small white mark with an anti perspirant or bits of your clothing stuck to your underarm hair. I know which one I would choose. This is a very pleasant smelling deodorant but I was really disappointed with the glue like incident with the deodorant, my armpit hair and part of my clothing. If you want to try this for yourself then by all means. You many find different results. I would also be interested to know if any of you have actually tried this deodorant. So finally this would be a great deodorant on smell and staying power but the bad points bring the rating down to three stars.
