“ Brand: Palmolive / Deodorants / Type: Roll-on / Suitable for: Body „
I bought this Soft & Gentle antiperspirant roll on mainly because of the price but I also liked the soft and gentle name. I'm not loyal to any one brand of roll on deodorant as I've been working my way through many of them trying to find one that I like. Soft & Gentle roll on deodorant is made by Palmolive who also produce spray deodorants, hand washes and bath and shower products. ***Price and availability*** I bought this roll on from Asda where it cost me £1 There were another two scents available as well as this Jasmine one and they were all the same price. I think the price is fantastic, especially when I find a bottle of this lasts me for around two weeks! ***Packaging*** The deodorant comes in a small white bottle which is very gently curved to make it a nice shape to hold. It has a roller ball at the top of the bottle which sits underneath a pink lid. The lids on different scents are different colours which makes it easy to see which one you have. The bottle shape is the same as in the Ciao picture but the designs on it differ slightly. The lid has a rectangular sticker on it which promises 24 hour protection and the bottle has a picture of jasmine flowers alongside the product brand and title. Underneath the flowers is some small writing which says "kind to skin" The packaging is pretty standard for a roll on deodorant but the soft curves of the bottle and the gentle colours used on the packaging do look nice, feel girly and pleasant and fit with the products name. ***Using the product*** The lid screws off to reveal the roller ball underneath which is used to apply the product to your under arms and the fact that it is a ball is why these kind of deodorants are called roll ons. The ball glides round easily and I've never had any problems with it sticking or getting clogged up, which I have found can be a problem with some cheaper brands. When you first apply the roll on to your skin it is quite thick and creamy and looks white. It does take a minute or two to sink in and dry but when it does it is no longer white, you can't see it at all. I usually apply this deodorant before I go and find my clothes as I find that by the time I have finished digging around in the wardrobe it is dry. It's not the quickest drying roll on I've ever used but it doesn't take too long in my opinion. The product does smell like jasmine flowers but the scent is gentle. The smell of the roll on doesn't seem to fade throughout the day and it is quite pleasant. Personally I use a body spray after applying anti-perpirant though, so the smell isn't particularly important to me as long as it's not awful! ***How effective is it?*** I have found this roll on deodorant to be very effective. It promises 24 hour protection and I certainly have no problems for the rest of the day after applying it to clean skin in the morning. The anti-persirant is good enough that I can do a work out with this on without having sweaty armpits which I think is great! This does seem to perform much better than other roll ons that I have tried within the same price range. True to it's name this roll on has not dried out my under arms and it has not had any bad effects on my sensitive skin. ***Overall*** I have been really impressed with this deodorant and I think it's great value for money. I will definitely be buying Soft & Gentle roll on again (in fact I found this morning that my current one has run out so I'll probably buy more when I go shopping later!), although I might try out a different scent next time and I would certainly recommend this to others
Since I have no loyalty to particular brands of deodorants and anti-perspirants, I tend to buy ones that are on special offer and give them a try! ~ Price and Packaging ~ This is a 150ml aerosol anti-perspirant spray with a pale pink lid. It usually retails at around the £1.85 mark but Boots have an offer on at the moment (Feb 2011) of just £1 for 150ml. ~ The smell ~ This definitely has a feminine scent, it's strong and slightly floral which lingers for quite some time after spraying it on to your underarm so beware that it could clash with some perfumes for a short while! ~ What does it promise? ~ * 24 hour protection. * Skin smoothing soy formulation. * Leaves skin soft aiding a smooth, close shave. * Alcohol free. * Doesn't sting after shaving ~ My Experience ~ As a lot of you ladies may know, some deodorants sting a little after shaving your underarms but as promised on the bottle, this one doesn't. After spraying it on my underarms it only takes a brief moment for it to dry unlike some roll on deodorants I have used which take a minute or so to fully dry. Unfortunately it has left some white marks on black tops that I have put on after applying it so carefully does it when you are putting on your tops. It's easily wiped off with a damp cloth if this happens but it is a nuisance! As for it's staying power........ This certainly doesn't give me 24 hour protection even if I haven't over-exerted myself. It gives me full working day protection but since I work in a very hot building, I can sometimes feel the need to replenish towards the end of the day, particularly if I have been darting around from one place to another. Therefore the anti-perspirant effectiveness of this isn't brilliant, just satisfactory. Another thing that I've noticed about this is that it gives off a lot of extra 'cloud' of the spray in the room which can get right down to the back of your throat if not careful! ~ Some other Soft and Gentle Deodorants / Anti-Perspirants ~ ~ Cool Breeze ~ Aromatherapy ~ Tiger Lily ~ Passion Flower For more information take a look at www.softandgentle.co.uk All in all, an adequate anti-perspirant for a normal unstrenuous days but certainly doesn't give the 24 hour protection as advertised! N.B. Review also appears on ciao.
Very fresh smelling deoderant. The jasmine is extreamly fresh and clean smelling and it makes me feel confident that i smell clean. The deisng of the bottle has been clevely done via the use of erganometry so that the bottle is very easy to hold in your hand. This is a 50ml roll on and often is priced at around £1 or sometimes slightly cheaper when it's on offer for example in the supermarkets. They have a whole host selection of frangrances and often I personally am spoilt for choice and end up just randomly choosing dependant on the colour or smell. The product comes out very easily from the roller ball and goes on smoothly, It doesn't dry instantly however it doesnt leave any marks either I dont fee. All together i would deffinatly repurchase and have done often in the past. Its a great product and i have also purchase its other family members which include the spray version. Hope this helps :)
I usually use a Nivea roll on deodrant, but needed a cheaper option and so I bought this Palmolive Soft and Gentle roll on from Superdrug - it cost £1 on an offer, although I don't think it is much more than this at full price. I was drawn to it because of the offer price, but also because the bottle looked nice. It is a small white bottle, with a pink/purple lid and has a nice girlie design on the front. The rollerball to apply the deodrant is large. I smelt the deodrant in the shop and it smelt nice so I decided to go with it. I have been using it for a few days and have found it to be very satisfactory. When applying, the deodrant does take quite a while to dry, which can be a bit of a pain if you are in a rush. The scent is evident as soon as the deodrant is applied which is really nice, and it isn't a soapy smell at all. The deodrant claims to have 24 hours of odour and wetness control and I have to say that so far I have not had any problems. However, I have not yet done any heavy exercise with this deodrant. My underarms have stayed dry and odourless from morning to night and I have been very pleased with the deodrant. I will be buying this again.
This is a review on Palmolive Soft and Gentle Aroma Therapy Sensual! I am not to bothered what deodorants I use to be honest, but this one caught my eye. This is because it has very nice bright pink colours on it, I like the sound of 'sensual' and I took the lid of and the smell infused so greatly through the air and I immediately added this item to my basket! Palmolive Soft and Gentle comes in a can as well as in a 50ml plastic bottle with quite a large clear roller ball and a pink plastic screw top lid. The lid can sometimes be a pain to open because when the deodorant dries it goes hard on the lid. On the front there is a very girly elegant design with a lovely pink flower and some other delicate font writing to explain the product and attract attention. On the back there is information on ingredients- stuff we never really read unless we have to! Also the website to find out more information- www.softandgentle.co.uk! This smells so pretty, I would describe it as quite sexy and floral, when it dries it does not go sticky on your skin and it has 24 hour odour and wetness control and this is completely true if you don't do vigorous exercise. I love the smell of this on my clothes- it does smell good enough to eat. This is for sale in supermarkets or health and beauty stores for less than £1.50! Not too bad but some other roll ons are less than this. This is great considering it is of a high quality and very useful for keeping in your handbag for those times when you really need it. Great Product 5/5!
I'm not normally fussy about deodorants - I just pick up the first one I see in the shop and buy it. However, the last one I bought was very overpowering and smelled a bit too strong. For that reason the next time I went shopping I chose more carefully, and ended up with Palmolive's Soft & Gentle Cool Cotton deodorant. I'm reviewing the stick version, as shown on the left in the picture above. ~Palmolive~ Palmolive is made by the company Colgate-Palmolive. As you may guess from the name of the company, they also make Colgate toothpaste, as well as making Ajax household cleaner, and more surprisingly Hill's Science Plan dog food. Palmolive began purely as soap makers. They still make bars of soap but have expanded their range to include deodorants, bath foam, shower gel, liquid soap, shaving gel/foam, shampoo and conditioners. ~Palmolive Deodorants~ Palmolive have a huge range of deodorants, coming in different scents as well as styles, which they began producing in the 1970s. Soft & Gentle was originally a brand in it's own right, but joined it's sister company Palmolive in the last few years, to make even better deodorants. There is now an ordinary Palmolive range, a Palmolive Soft & Gentle Range, and a Palmolive Soft & Gentle Aromatherapy Range. They're made in roll-on, stick and spray form, and have a big range of scents to choose from. ~Palmolive Soft & Gentle~ Palmolive Soft & Gentle is aimed at women (sorry gents!) and they claim that feeling fresh is essential to feeling confident and feminine. It claims to provide 24 hour protection and is available in three formats: spray, roll-on and stick roll-on. Palmolive Soft & Gentle is not tested on animals and contains no animal ingredients. It is available in a range of scents: Cool Cotton - available in spray and stick form. Soft Jasmine - available in spray, roll-on and stick form. After Hours - available in spray and roll-on form. Aqua Cool - available in spray form only. Soft Vanilla - available in spray form only. Pure Linen - available in spray and roll-on form. Unfortunately Palmolive do not make an unscented deodorant. Unlike many brands, Palmolive do not claim that their deodorant won't cause white marks on clothes. However they advise that if you don't use it excessively, and give it chance to dry, you won't have a problem with white marks. ~Palmolive Soft & Gentle Cool Cotton~ Cool Cotton contains '...... a fresh breeze of delicate flowers and sandlewood with extracts of natural cotton,' and is available only in stick or spray form. It has a white base with a blue lid, and the front has the Palmolive and Aloe logo in green, with Soft & Gentle and Cool Cotton written in blue. The stick form comes in a 45g bottle. ~Directions for use~ As with most deodorants, you are advised to apply a thin layer to your underarms, and allow to dry. As this is in stick form, there is a dial at the bottom to raise the deodorant out of the bottle. You are warned to not use deodorant on broken skin, and if irritation occurs to discontinue use. As usual, you are advised to keep this out of reach of children. ~Ingredients~ Palmolive Soft & Gentle Cool Cotton contains; Aluminium Zirconlum, Tetrochlorohydrex Glycine Complex, Cyclomethicone, Stearyl Alcohol, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydrogenated castor Oil, PEG-8 Distearate, Parfum, Aloe Barbadensis and Leaf juice. ~My Opinion~ As I said at the start, I wanted a subtle smelling deodorant, and after smelling several different brands at my local Tesco, I decided on this. It's easy to apply (although most deodorants are!), it dries quickly and it doesn't feel at all sticky. I've used this immediately after shaving, and not suffered from any irritation. The 45g bottle that I bought has lasted me three months so far, and I've only just got halfway through it. I'm a very nervous person and can be extremely shy in some situations, which makes me sweat more than usual. This deodorant has been very effective though and has lasted all day, even when I've been nervous. I can also attest to it's 24 hour claim and have found that even by the next morning I smell clean and fresh. What I like best though is the fact that it does keep you fresh smelling, without having to drowned you in a heavy scent. Upon applying this deodorant, the scent is quite strong, but as soon as it's dry it's only very faint and I can only smell it by sticking my face in my armpit (which surprisingly smells nice!) This means that it also doesn't clash with any perfumes I decide to wear, like many deodorants do. I can't say it smells of cotton exactly, but it has a delicate scent and is very pleasant. Although it's not intended for men, the scent would be more suitable for men than some of the other brands, although some men might find it too delicate. One of the things I like about Palmolive is the fact that they don't claim that you won't get white marks. I've tried many different deodorants in the past that claim to be 'invisible' , and have ended up with white streaks on my clothes. With Palmolive, you only need to apply a very small amount, and therefore I've actually never had white marks when using it - not even when wearing black vest tops. As they advise though, I think it would all depend on how much you apply, and how much time you give it to dry. Especially this time of year, in the Summer, I want to be able to wear whatever I want on the rare sunny days that we get - without having to worry about how I smell. I have to say that I feel Palmolive Soft & Gentle is 100% upto the job and I will continue to buy it from now on.
I first tried this anti perspirant because my old brand just wasn't cutting it for me any more, so I decided it was time for a change. The reason that this stood out to me on the shelf was the claim of 24 hour odour and wetness control, fair enough but I don't need it to last a whole 24 hours before I have another shower! As it was priced at £1.00 for 50ml (Asda) I thought this was reasonable and went for it. The bottle is a nice shape and as it has a shaped groove into the back it feels natural and fits nicely into your hand when you are applying. The fragrance of the Soft Jasmine is lovely, it's not overpowering but at the same time keeps you feeling fresh all day. As for the wetness control, well I've never had any embarassing sweat patches with this so it definitely does the job. My only gripe is that you have to be careful when putting your clothes on, as with most anti persiprants it's very easy to get white marks on your clothes from it. I find that waiting a few minutes for it to dry fully before getting dressed helps to minimise this.
Until a couple of months ago, I had an aversion to using any kind of roll on deodorant. I think I associated it with memories of when I was a teenager and was forced to use the roll on variety. I remember them to be sticky, uncomfortable and generally not very fragranced and appealing. So as soon as I could buy my own deodorant, I was buying sprays or cream sticks. I am also however a stickler for buying deodorant when it's on offer, and a couple of months ago I went to buy some and there was no sprays on a decent offer. I saw a roll on version of the spray I like to use being promoted at just a £1, so I had no argument not to try it again. I knew the fragrance would be good as I have previously used the spray version. I was praying deodorants had improved over the years. Whilst this product is called a deodorant, it also acts as an antiperspirant as it is designed to control wetness as well as odour. In a small pot containing 50ml, I was wondering how long this little pot would last me. I did realise that it would probably last a bit longer than aerosol sprays due to controlling the amount you use in one application, but was still quite intrigued. I instantly liked the design of the pot you get. Some deodorants have the roller ball at the base which is a good idea. This product doesn't have this smart feature, but the shape of the bottle itself is designed well to fit into your hand comfortably. I appreciate you don't hold this product for very long at one time, but it's thin areas fit well into the shape of hands and makes it comfortable and not clumpy or awkward to hold when applying to arm pits at all. Undoing the screw lid, which is colour co-ordinated to the fragrance of the product, you are met with a large area which holds a roller ball. Once activated this pulls the liquid from the pot and rolls a layer onto your skin. The fragrance is a sweet delicate smell which is marketed to smell of jasmine. I like the feminine smells of the soft and gentle range but I do think they smell vaguely similar no matter which one you use. To apply you just need to give the bottle a shake to encourage the liquid to be on the underneath of the roller ball and then apply to your arm pits. I find this experience quite a long and drawn out process just to apply deodorant. You only need to roll over the area once, but then you are left with two wet patches under your arms. If you try to put clothes on or do too much before the deodorant has had a chance to dry then you will have a very uncomfortable sticky feeling going on. I find it takes a good few minutes for the liquid to dry and this is one very big down side to using a roll on deodorant. With a spray it really is just spray and go, but this requires a bit more time. The most important bit for me is how the deodorant performs through the day. It promises 24 hour control, but there aren't many products on the market that don't promise this and they certainly don't all perform well. I am pleased to say that this product really does mask any nasty smells throughout the day, even better than the spray version. I do think this is because you get a better coverage with a roll on rather than a spray though. It does a good job on wetness control, but there are moments when it's very hot that I have found myself with damp patches. This isn't very attractive, but it performs well against other products for 90% of the time so I'm happy with it at the moment. Being a roll on I do find one bottle will last me about three weeks rather than just over a week for a spray.
Obviously deoderant is an essential part of everyone's daily routine. Years ago, I bought Palmolive (as I also have sensitive skin) and thought it was great. After I run out (and being a typical young teenager) I just used a different deoderant but went back to it recently. If you're like me and are going back to this deoderant, I'd personally say that Palmolive have gone slightly downhill with this deoderant. Don't get me wrong, I work with horses a lot and I use this deoderant and it does work, but I'd prefer to actually feel like I've got deoderant on. I have the Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli roll on and it doesn't really have much of a smell on it compared to other deoderants. As far as price goes, I spent a little more on this rather than Sure or a different deoderant, and I find in my area that it's a little harder to get hold of. Packaging is fairly neat, really. It stands out to the standard roll on and is quite eye catching. The whole package of it is quite sturdy and isn't an awkward shape to have in a toiletry bag or your shelf like some othe deoderants. Another bad point though is that you can't really tell when you're going to run out as the packaging isn't see through. Overall, it's a nice little deoderant to have, it's no miracle worker but for a normal day I'd use this product.
Deodorant is one of lifes little essentials and over the years I have tried many in my quest to be dry and smell pleasant. I am not a fan of deodorant sprays, they always seem to leave white powder under my arms and I also seem to be quite incapable of spraying it just on me and get a lot more in the air so its also a waste me using them so I always buy roll ons. Now my boyfriend has a habit of running out of deodarant and then starts to use mine due to this even with me teasing him that he will smell like a girl. Last month I went to use mine to find that not only had he finished his off he had also used the last of mine so I had to make a mad dash to my local Boots (nearest chemist to me) to obtain some more but they didn't have my usual brand. I was quite disappointed about this and spent about 10 minutes trying to decide which to pick before finally settling for the Palmolive Soft & Gentle Soft Jasmine Roll-on which at the time of purchase cost me 92p. The deodorant advertises that it acts as a 24hour odour and wetness control roll on so I felt safe that it would do it job. Upon smelling it it has a lovely floral fragrance, its not too strong and has a womanly feel about it, I have also noticed that it blends really well with my perfume of choice Ghost Cherish. When I put it on I do find that its very wet, it seems to take a while to dry so I have to wait a few minutes before I put a top on otherwise it will stick and leave a damp mark but once it does dry its clear and leaves no white marks. The smell does last well though, probably for about 12 hours on a day where I have been active but longer on a more relaxed day, I have gone to bed before and still been able to catch its scent when moving my arms. On the wetness front its brilliant, I haven't had any embarrassing incidents with sweaty patches and can't fault it. I am actually really glad that my usual brand wasn't there as this is cheaper and works just as well and I really like the smell so will be sticking with the product. ***This review is also posted on ciao.co.uk under the same user name***
When it comes to deodorants I simply own loads of them (don't we all lol). I prefer spray on one's as a rule but I can be swayed by price of a product of course and I do like trying different things out! I do like Palmolive Soft & Gentle products in the antiperspirant sprays because I find they don't spray on white and I like the fragrances so when I saw the roll on at the reduced price of 50p per said deodorant in my local Sainsbury's (usual price about £1.29 per roll on) I had high hopes for it being a good buy although not my usual method of trying to remain stink free! The Packaging.... Slightly different to the review photograph (tut at Dooyoo yet again lol). So if you can see the review photograph firstly the title is correct and it's the same as the roll on that's displayed on the left hand side but mine is dark red. So It's a 50ml white upright plastic bottle with an almost transparent large roller ball situated to the top covered in an almost transparent dark red lid that twists on/off to use. The front label is different shades of red and on that I'm clearly told that it is Palmolive Soft & Gentle, Aroma Therapy, Sensual, Jasmine & Rose. Orchid Extract Antiperspirant. The white label on the back is full of small black writing that shows me a bar-code, states the website address (www.softandgentle.co.uk), states the size as I've told you already, shows the recycle symbol, gives directions for use, gives a caution, lists ingredients and finally gives contact details for Colgate-Palmolive (manufacturers of this product of course). All in all it's nice and simple packaging. I do like the shape of the bottle which is nicely moulded to sit in your hand as you use it and as it's moulded it's none slip and really simple and easy to use and thought has gone into making it easy to use! Directions For Use According To The Bottle.... Tip bottle then roll under arm. Allow to dry before dressing. Caution - Do not use on sore or broken skin. If irritation develops, discontinue use. My Experience.... Well using it is of course as simple as you'd expect and want it to be. I always give it a quick shake either with the lid on or off (it doesn't matter lol) and then apply it under my arms. Each and every time you use it, it comes out evenly and although I have owned mine a good while not once has it dried up or the roller ball has got stuck or anything like that. The liquid comes out quite thickly and is quite wet but because it's a thick liquid it doesn't feel soaking under the arms or anything but of course you can see the transparent liquid and depending on the amount you rub on it dries in and isn't sticky or visible. With the amount I use I find it takes a couple of minutes to completely dry and I don't use loads or anything like that as you don't need to. Then you get dressed and no residue is apparent and still no stickiness and you can forget all about it. Smell wise, well it isn't me. It's highly fragrant from the moment you unscrew the lid and move the roller ball. It does smell of Jasmine in the main but you can also smell the Orchid and the Rose. It's rather sweet and grown up and doesn't smell one bit cheap it's just not my type of thing really. Being highly fragrant it holds the smell for hours once on though. I've been in a hot club dancing in a vest top with my arms waving about in the air like a nutter and I've smelt it so it does stay fresh and it doesn't melt under heat (i.e hot clubs), it simply evaporates into the skin never to be seen again. Does It Work... Never once have I stunk of BO whilst this has been on me. According to information I've read about this range it's meant to give 24 hour odour and wetness control and for me it does give that. Saying that though I am not an overly smelly person or anything though to be honest. My Mum on the other hand has used this product, worn a jumper in a central heated house in mid November and moaned that under her arms stunk and the smell of Bo got lodged into said jumper lol! As I say for me though it works. I can forget it's there and it doesn't make my skin dry as alot of liquids under my arms have done in the past. It is simply soft & gentle for me though the smell really isn't and I've been working on trying to get rid of it so the smell isn't recommended! Can be found in all good supermarkets and chemists and is available in this format, spray and dry cream.
