“ Brand: Palmolive / Type: Deodorant Spray / Suitable for: Body „
I am not at all brand loyal when it comes to buying deodorants and will just buy well known ones when they are on offer. I read somewhere years ago that you should change your shampoos and deodorants every few months to get the maximum effect - I am not sure whether this is true or not but I have always done this - and my latest deodorant is Palmolive's Soft & Gentle Eden one. I found this 150ml aerosol in Poundland and it looks exactly as shown in the Dooyoo picture where,as you can see, it looks fairly attractive in design and it has a slightly moulded shape which makes it easy to hold even with wet hands. The top comes off easily enough and closes tightly and the spray is easy to dispense with very little effort and it emits a fine mist. I find just one squirt under each arm is adequate for me and I find it does, as promised, give me 24 hour protection against sweaty/smelly armpits. Sometimes I find certain deodorants cause dryness but I have not found this when using this particular one which is good. The smell is lovely and fresh and several people have asked what fragrance I am wearing when I have used it which tells me that it is really designed for females. It is not too overpowering though and does not have that 'deodorant' smell that you sometimes get with other brands. I have not noticed any marks under the arms of tops and jumpers nor any stiffness or residue after using this deodorant. There is a list of ingredients on the reverse of the can - many sound a bit dubious - so I would be careful if you suffer from asthma or any other breathing problems or allergies. There is also information about using the product (spray 15 cm away from skin...), cautions, a phone number and website details. The aerosol spray has lasted me for a good few weeks now yet the nozzle is still working well and there is no sign of clogging and on shaking it there seems to be a fair amount left making it, in my opinion, a good buy and I will probably buy it again. I am not one for roll-on deodorants because they do not seem to work too well on me and I do not like the feeling of tacky underarms so will have to knock off 1 star because it is an areosol spray hence no good for the environment. Other than this I have to say this ticks all the boxes for me.
I was recently on a little clearout of the bathroom cupboard...filled to the brim with half used sprays and lotions i decided I wasn't to buy more until I made space at home to put them all! One of the sprays I found was this Palmolive Soft & Gentle Eden Wild Orchid Deodorant. Knowing how I am, I probably paid no more than £1 for this most likely on offer somewhere so unfortunately not too sure where it can be bought now! The aerosol is the usual design, a white tin with a lovely picture of a flower (I assume an orchid!). The tin I have is actually quite large, being a 150ml capacity so not the type for squeezing in a petite clutch/hand bag on a night out, but as I like to carry a large bag anyway it was no problem. I decided to use this spray to take it to work as sometimes through the day if I am rushing around in a hurry a quick top up with some anti-perspirant deodorant is just what I need! Using this spray is easy, simply hold a reasonable distance from my underarm (15cm recommendation!) and the spray comes out in a plentiful quantity. The smell is distinctly flowery, and not overly strong so as to clash with any perfume or nice lotion I'd be wearing but strong enough to neutralise any mildly offensive underarm scent lol! I have to say I was quite disappointed at the longevity of this spray. It has all the usual claims of "24 hour protection" but in reality I find it hard to understand how they came up with it! It was useful at providing temporary relief but I found an hour or so of rushing around later and I felt particularly hot, sweaty and clammy all over again. Not good palmolive I have to say! Whilst it was a good spray, in that it did not leave any white marks on my clothing (an issue I have predominantly with Sure) and did smell quite nice for a while, I found it's uselessness at doing what it is supposed to do i.e. be an anti-perspirant. On this basis I most probably won't be dashing out again in a hurry, but will continue to use it until it's finished as I can't bear to waste it and throw it away!
When it comes to buying anti-perspirants, I don't really care too much what I get. I will generally buy whatever is on offer and one of these purchases has been Palmolive Soft & Gentle Eden Wild Orchid, mainly because it was cheap at the time. The can for this product is white with a slight curve to the body of it, which makes it easy and comfortable to hold. The majority of the can is white with a picture of an orchid on the front in pink, along with the brand logo and the scent of the deodorant being named. The lid to this can is a pull off cap which matches the text and flower on the can. The can also states that this deodorant is '24 hour body responsive' which is a good selling point. The back of the can has the normal information like ingredients, brand information with barcode etc. Although this is a pretty plain product, I really like the way it is packaged. The can is feminine looking and easy to hold. The design on both the front and back of the can isn't too overdone and it isn't in your face either. However, it still manages to look good and effective on a shelf and it is quite eye catching. I don't normally pay attention to design when it comes to things like this but this product stands out from others in this way. This deodorant states that it will keep you fresh for 24 hours while giving you a carefree feeling of summer paradise (a bit farfetched I think). Also stated is the fact that it is alcohol free so it won't sting at all when you use it even if you do so straight after shaving. I hate deodorants that sting so this was a definite plus and it is something that is actually true. Not once have I felt pain after using it. The deodorant is fragranced with exotic oils. As with most products like this, you need to shake the can before use and spray from about 15cm away. Even at this distance, there is some smokiness in the room after spraying so you need to make sure you do so somewhere that is quite well ventilated. The deodorant is extremely easy to spray so it's a good idea to go easy on the spray button as you may end up spraying a lot more than you actually need. The smell is very fresh and flowery. Now, I'm not one who likes to walk around smelling of strange flowers all day but this isn't what you get with the product. While the smell is floral, it isn't overpowering but instead is nice and gentle, quite like the name of the product. I was really surprised with how much I liked the smell of this, even though I knew that I would end up masking it with the smell of perfume eventually. The smell does not last for 24 hours which is unfortunate but that would be quite the miracle. However, the deodorant itself does last a very good length of time. I haven't stayed awake for 24 hours after using it so I cannot comment on whether or not this is true but it did last me through a whole shift at work which is good enough for me. I paid £1 for my can while it was on offer but it normally sells for around £1.89 depending on where you buy from. I would definitely recommend this one and I would even think about buying it again, even if it isn't on offer!
I recently needed to buy some deodorant and as I am not too fussy I simply picked one which was on offer, this deodorant usually sells for £2.54 for a 250ml tin or £1.83 for a 150ml tin. I found the 150ml tin on offer at my local Asda for £1 a tin and so bought a couple to try. The deodorant is produced by Colgate Palmolive which make a lot of everyday beauty products. The tin is white in colour which has a curve about 2/3 of the way up to make it comfortable to hold and a pale pink push on lid at the top. There is a large pink flower displayed on the front and a little logo stating dare to bare soft skin, soft shave and the claim of 24 hour anti-perspirant protection. The fragrance is called Eden wild orchid, I have never smelt a wild orchid but this does smell very floral. On the back of the tin you have the information that this has a new skin smoothing soy formula which leaves skin soft allowing for a smooth and close shave although in all honesty I don't really understand how a deodorant has anything to do with shaving. You are also provided with the contact information for the company who make the product and a list of the ingredients and of course the usual warnings about solvent abuse and pressurised tins. To use the product you need to shake it well and then holding 15cm from skin spray, it is not to be used on broken or irritated skin. The tin has a push down white button to release the spray which comes out in a good strong burst and smells flowery and powdery at the same time. I think this smells like it should be used by an older woman possibly 40s - 50s, the deodorant doesn't leave any white patches on underarms or clothing and it does leave me feeling fresh all day but I wouldn't say it lasts for 24 hours. I won't buy this one again simply because I am not keen on the smell but is it a good deodorant and does exactly what you want it to.
I love smelling nice and fresh. I hate sweat its disgusting and gross so when I saw this deodorant for only £1.40 I deciding to pick it up. What mainly persuaded me was the cute packaging. The bottle is curvy near the top and straight at the bottom. With a picture of a flower and soft and gentle written on the front. Palmolive claim that: the deodorant has 24hr protection leaves your skin irresistably soft for a smooth and close shave alcohol free so it wont sting after shaving The deodorant sprays really easily and doesnt sting at all. Unfortunately it isnt anti white mark so it can stain clothes but I havent had any problems so far. The smell is lovely very light and fresh. Not to overpowering it smells like light flowers on a summer's day. Its really nice! It says it lasts 24hrs but I think its more likely 12. I fiind I need to keep re applying this throughout the day it isnt very long lasting. I love how it feels on my skin and it leaves my underarms very soft. The smell only lasts about an hour which is a bit of a disappointment. Overall I'll give this deodorant 4/5. It smells nice but it doesnt last long. I would recommend buying it because it is cheap. Thanks for reading :)
The Eden range from Soft and Gentle hasn't been out that long, and not sure why the need for a new range to run alongside the normal Soft and Gentle range, but it is a few slightly different scents and seem to be the same price. Only critisism is that although the normal Soft and Gentle Deodorants can often be on offer in my local Asda, these ones don't seem to be on offer much. These are in a 150ml tin and cost around £1.40. The tin is just how the Dooyoo picture is. It is white with Pink on it and a picture of a Flower on the front. I don't usually go for floral scents and I had a sneaky squirt of this before I bought it and it smelt nice for a change of scent, but would it do the job of keeping me fresh, dry and with a hint of a scent? This is quite a rich smelling scent. It does smell Floral, but not in the powdery petal scent I was realyl expecting. There seems to be a few different notes mixed in through this scent and it all makes a nice smell. That's the nice thing about the Eden range, as it does seem to be a mix of scents and not just the 1 boring smell. This seems to keep me fresh and nice smelling. I don't feel the Soft and Gentle range keep me perhaps quite as Dry as Sure, but that may just be a personal statement. If you like the normal Soft and Gentle range then you should love this range. Available in a few different scents, but this is one of the nicest ones in my view.
Palmolive Soft & Gentle Eden Wild Orchid Deodorant is a perfect deodorant for women. It has such a pretty designed bottle, which I guess is targeted at women, as we do like pretty things. Though it is what's inside that counts I'm afraid. The Soft & Gentle is sold in most shops or supermarkets for a retail price of £1 to £2. I have not been keen on roll-ons and found deodorants far better and easy to use. This product has a beautiful sweet smell like an amazing smelling flower. I find that unlike most deodorants this does not leave you with the classic white mark. Through the day its still working as your body is sweating, fighting the smell of perspiration and giving you confidence. Feeling dryer for longer and not having the smell of nasty body odour under your arms is a life saver to me as in my line of work I am always on the move, dealing with important clients wanting beauty treatments so I need to be smelling good and feeling fresh and this does just that. Alcohol free it's less likely to irritate your underarms, and with its gentle smell it is not too overpowering to others. I will continue to use and buy this soft and gentle as its good value for money! 5 Stars
I was at the shops, looking for a new deodorant as my usual one, Dove Go Fresh, had run out a few days ago. As there is with most body care products, there was a lot to choose from. I decided to have a change as I might find a more effective one. I've used the Palmolive soaps and shower milk before and they were very nice. What also swayed me towards the Palmolive Soft & Gentle Eden Wild Orchid Deodorant was the name. 'Wild Orchid', it sounds very nice smelling and the bottle was very attractive with a baby pink lid and flower as decoration. When I got home I decided to read the back of the bottle and I found some very interesting facts/ points. It's alcohol free, which is good because it means it won't sting even after shaving. This is a real bonus to the deodorant as having alcohol in body sprays/ deodorants (especially with sensitive skin) can sting or irritate then skin. It also says on the bottle, 24 hr anti-perspirant protection. Applying the deodorant was like most others, I took the advice given on the bottle, so I shook the bottle and held it upright about 15cm from my underarm and sprayed. The deodorant was very fresh, fresher than most anyhow. It was very fragrant, not really a overpowering perfume smell but it was very natural and fresh. So, as a deodorant? Well, 24hr protection, I'm not sure, but I can say that it did work for a long time and on a hot day. 24hr's is a long time and I'm not sure if it did last that long. However smell had long lasting effects and the deodorant was very light, unlike some others. I'm definitely glad that I did try a new deodorant as I will continue to use Palmolive Soft & Gentle Eden Wild Orchid Deodorant. You can buy this deodorant from most stores eg. Boots, Superdrug, Wilkinsons, Tesco etc. It usually costs around £1 to £2.
im a student studying beauty therapy and therefore its important that im always smelling great. i do sweat alot when moving around doing alot of massages and treatments, but with palmolive soft and gentle i dont have to worry about any of that. it decreases the amount you sweat and you do smell great all day wearing this i love the smell of them, i think they are some of the best smelling deoderants around. there are other scents apart from wild orchid they are all very nice too i especially like the tiger lily one. but they all have their individual smells and all smell great! its very gentle on the underarms and i even use this after i have shaved or had a waxing there and i find that it doesnt sting like some other deoderants i have used, and it is less harmful as some cheaper ones and it leaves underarms feeling a little bit softer, well it did for me anyway. what i ike about this is when you first apply it, it feels quite cool and is great on a hot day, you obviously smell it strongly when you first apply it but then you do get like little bursts of fragrance throughout the day which keep you smelling great, and because of this it stops you worring. since using this deoderant the amount that i have sweated had decreased alot and i have to say im going to be sticking to this deoderant for a while it costs around £1.89 for a 150ml bottle in my local boots but it does last quite a long time and in my opinion its well worth the money.
I'm really strange when it comes to smells, I have to smell nice and pretty, and hate smelling of BO, I always feel dirty and greasy, if I smell bad or feel sweaty, which probably why I have such as vast array of Perfumes, Body Sprays and Deodorants, for which I have 7 bottles in use currently. I think smells must be my weird OCD! But yes, recently I was in town, about to go to a gig, and had no Deodorant in my bag, so I quickly ran to Boots and grabbed Palmolive Soft and Gentle Eden Wild Orchid Deodorant, and thought it cant be as bad as I smelt then, and was pretty happy with the results. Palmolive claims that is product will keep you "dry and fresh" and "infused with exotic oils", which means you will smell nice all day long. But will the claims live up the reality? Normally, I don't mention the packaging or can, but I did actually like it, it had a pretty pink flower on (my two favourite thing, pink and flowers) and I thought it looked all girly and arty, so it defiantly appealed to me, but did look really nice on the shelf and did immediately jump out at me. To apply, just use like ordinary deodorant under your arms, and unlike other deodorants, Palmolive is liquid, not powdery like other deodorants, which mean the powder gets all over clothes too, how annoying! I thought applying the Palmolive was really easy, but I would advise shaking the can well before each use, because it can get all clumpy under arms. The smell is very fresh and flowery, and does smell of Orchids, which I had never smelt before but I really like it! It is really light and not over powering, so it won't over power perfume or body spray, and works well with other fragrance products that you will use, as some deodorants may over power fragrances and are way too strong, but this is just perfect. But now, the most important thing, the Protection. Well it claims to provide "24 hour protection", which isn't totally true, but it does last a fair while, around 10 hours for me, but probably could last longer to be honest. The deodorant lasts through some tough conditions with me, and still provides protection, and a lovely smell, which lasted a fair hours, but did fade eventually. Overall, I would defiantly recommend Palmolive Soft and Gentle Eden Wild Orchid deodorant, as it was one of the best deodorants I've ever used, it provided me with great protection, for many hours, smelt lovely and was really light and kind to my skin, as it didn't make my skin stingy when first applied it. Palmolive Soft and Gentle Eden Wild Orchid deodorant is available at Boots, Superdrug and most Supermarkets, for around £1.50-£2, so what are you waiting for?!
The Soft and Gentle Eden antiperspirants are a really nice range, with the wild orchid one (with a pink flower on the bottle) being the nicest in my opinion. They are quite small bottles for quite a high price - you can get a much bigger bottle of nice smelling antiperspirant for much cheaper than this. So I guess it is something of a premium range. But it does smell extremely heavenly - which is appropriate considering the name! It works well as an antiperspirant, even standing up to the extreme heat on my holiday to Florida. It is also one of the few deodorants that doesnt cake your underarms in white powder which then rubs off on your clothes, and also doesnt sting at all even if you have just shaved under your arms. In fact, it doesnt even sting if you have just cut under your arms by accident while shaving! The scent is very light and feminine, not too overpowering but very pleasant and fresh. I have had several people comment on it - I dont wear perfume very often so it is quite pleasing that my antiperspirant seems to do the same job! Although they are a bit pricey they are often on special offer in my local Tesco, so if you like them and see them reduced then it is definitely worth sticking up - I think I currently have 6 full bottles waiting in line to be used lol!
Soft and gentle seem to have hit the nail on the head when they created their eden wild orchid scented deodorant. For years I have had trouble finding a spray deodorant that doesn't leave nasty white marks on me and my clothes. As well as something that is effective throughout the day - this is perfect at both. The smell is lovely - not too overpowering just a slightly sweet feminine rose fragrance. Providing 24 hour protection - it makes sure you smell great all day long. It comes in a 140ml spray can bottle which magically lasts for ages. I have had mine for 2 months and use it daily and it still shows no signs of running out. As the name suggests it is gentle on my skin and I can even shave and spray minutes later and it doesn't have that stinging effect that many others do. All in all soft and gentle is a great value and long lasting deodorant that does exactly what it says on the tin.
I work in an office.....well, actually, I work in a cupboard without air conditioning, and a window that doesn't actually provide any ventilation due to the close proximity of the wall that I overlook...... Work is often stressful, and I wear a suit....we have quite a strict "clothing policy" and whilst the secretaries might be able to get away with floaty strappy dresses or t-shirts, I can't. That means on a hot day, with stress, and restrictive clothing, we all get a bit sweaty around the edges. As a result, things can get a bit whiffy in the armpit department.....not a good look, smell or feeling. When pong takes over, I am very conscious of it....I can almost hear the other girls talking about it. And of course, once you have the dreaded damp patches under your arms, you cannot hide.....you might as well have a neon sign above your head saying "sweaty betty lives here". Even if those sweat patches dry, a tell tale salty tide mark remains. All in all, a look to be avoided if possible. Everyone sweats, though, we have to accept it as inevitable - our body's own detox system. Some sweat more than others, some are more smelly than others.....there is no getting away from it! Some people say we should let it happen - Sting, for example claims not to use deodorant....and I've not seen newspaper headlines along the lines of "Stinky Sting" so perhaps we should just let things take their course.....but the that would also mean never shaving our legs or plucking our eyebrows either.... So, over the years I have tried numerous anti-perspirants and deodorants. Now, you should be aware, that a deodorant is not going to stop you sweating - it is simply going to cover up the smell with another, hopefully nicer smell. An antiperspirant aims to reduce or stop you sweating......and an antiperspirant deodorant should do both - stop you sweating, and make you smell nice too! I've tried roll ons, gels, solid sticks, aerosols.....I've tried branded versions and cheapie versions.....I've tried triple action, 24 hour protection, even products that claim they work for 48 hours......(no, they didn't work) I've tried washing more, washing less......and finally, I have found a few select products (all of which will be reviewed eventually) that have lived up to their claim. One of these is the Palmolive Soft & Gentle eden range - I have tried the Passion Flower version and the Wild Orchid version. Check out Boots - they often have them in on BOGOF, so you can try both without it costing you extra! This is an aerosol (but does not contain CFCs) and I buy the 150ml can, although I believe they come in a bigger can too. I like to have a can of deodorant at home, one in my bag, one in the ladies loo at work, etc, so I don't want anything too big to lug about. It is alcohol free and claims not to sting, even after shaving - I have to agree with this, and have never had that eye-watering few seconds after defuzzing my armpits, with this product! (although, as with all products, don't apply to damaged or broken skin, as this might hurt a lot!!) Soft & Gentle claims to leave you with a fresh, carefree feeling of summer paradise, and tells you that you will feel extra fresh and dry, even when things are hotting up. And I am happy to tell you that it lives up to these claims. This is an antiperspirant deodorant that I have been happy to use - it smells fresh, but not sickly. The scent is indeed of orchid, a slightly unusual but very feminine smell. It is not strong, so you won't be constantly getting comments about your scent, but it certainly smells clean and fresh and not "eau de chemical". As for the feel, well it doesn't feel powdery or claggy on my skin. It is a very light spray, and so I feel comfortable when I have had a quick squirt! And it stops me from leaking buckets full of sweat from under my arms.....phew! The can claims that it has 24 hour protection - I'm not sure about this, because I never rely on a spray to last for so long. I am more likely to "top up" throughout the day, just to be on the safe side.....so I can't vouch for the longevity of this product. I can, however say that I don't feel the need to have a quick spray every hour or so like I have done with other products! As a very positive side note - I have not experienced the white marks on my black work clothes that I have frequently had from other products......maybe this is because over the years I have worked hard at perfecting the "no touch" method of getting dressed in the mornings, or maybe it is because this product doesn't leave the same white marks....either way, it's all good to me! Available at Boots and most other chemists and supermarkets, often available on offer - Currently £1.85 per can or 2 for £2.50 at Boots. For more information, go to www.softandgentle.co.uk
I own so many anti-perspirants and have so many on my dressing table that I'm sure that if you saw them you'd be convinced I had a BO problem I was seriously trying to hide from the world lol. I don't though and the reason I don't is cos of looking after myself the way I do! I've never once whiffed any mucky aroma on me in the sweat department either.....ever actually! lol. I do love a good spray and I'm not really a roll on sort of girl. I like to spray and go and at all costs of course avoid dreaded white marks, which usually are...sadly... unavoidable. However Palmolive is a brand I really do like as I equate it to being kind and gentle stuff and this was on offer in my local Sainsbury's priced at £1.00 a can instead of £1.89 as it's usually priced and I took a sniff of the the can and liked what I smelt so bagged myself one. Did I need it? No but that's a whole other story for another time lol. The Packaging.... White can with a slight curve/dent to it's middle for ease of handling. There is a light plastic domed shape lid that covers a white plastic push button sprayer and on the front of the can there is a picture of a pink orchid drawn on there. In white, pink and black writing I'm told it is Palmolive Soft & Gentle 'Eden' Wild Orchid Anti-Perspirant Deodorant that is '24 hour body responsive'. On the back (now all in pink writing) I'm told a bit about the product, directions on how to use it are there, ingredients and cautions are given, the recycle symbol is displayed as is the size (150ml), contact details for Colgate-Palmolive are given and finally there is a black bar-code on there. A really nice, easy on the eyes and easy to handle feminine looking can. I really like it. It looks quality, well laid out and simple. A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can.... Experience the fresh, carefree feeling of a summer paradise every day with Palmolive Soft & Gentle - Eden. It's 24 hour body responsive formula is infused with lightly fragranced exotic oils. You'll stay extra-fresh and dry, even when thing are heating up. And don't worry it's alcohol free and won't sting, even after shaving. Directions For Use... Shake well, hold can upright at 15cm from your underarm and spray. Don't use on sore or broken skin. Me Using It.... Once again I have found a must buy and straightforward product with this one. It's easy to spray (even at an angle), easy to hold whilst doing so and sprays out a very cool mist of anti-perspirant that really doesn't go on white or powdery but simply the moisture sinks immediately into the skin meaning you can dress very quickly and with confidence and you feel softly moisturised. You don't need much as it sprays out fast and evenly so it works out economical as well. Yes it can be used on freshly shaved armpits as well, it really is very mild indeed. The smell of this is Oriental, sophisticated, sweet and that of flowers rather than in your face orchids (I actually hate the smell of orchids lol). It's simply not harsh or over-powering in the smell stakes but delicate, fresh and as promised summery! I love using this it's just so fresh and girly whilst remaining classy and the smell, I find stays apparent for a good few hours after I've applied it. Does It Offer 24 Hour Protection Though? Quite simply.... yes it does. The smell may not linger for 24 hours on the skin but the effects lasted me longer than 24 hours! It kept my armpits hydrated, fresh and feeling very clean indeed with no nasty whiffs or stains. I love everything about this and find it one of the most reliable deodorant's I have EVER used and a really pleasure to use as well. Can be found in all good chemists and supermarkets and from me, is heartily recommended and gets a massive thumbs up! This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
