I have used this deodorant for many years and I love it!
I originally looked at other brands such as Mitchum, but this was a comparable price and so I thought I would give it a go.
I followed the instructions and ensured that I didn't use the deodorant just after having shaved my underarms and I was so glad I listened! The deodorant gave a strange sensation, it felt as though my under arm skin was itchy and constricting slightly, and I had to try very hard to not touch or scratch my under arms.
I have found that the best way to put the deodorant on is after a shower in the evening, before I go to bed. That way I hopefully fall asleep and don't get bothered by the odd itching sensation it causes, then I wash it off in the morning and voila!
Once the deodorant has been administered and washed off, it works amazingly well for at least 48 hours, usually more. I never, ever sweat no matter what I am doing, even when I physically exert myself.
This product is definitely worth the money as it works amazingly well. The container is quite small, but as you use such a small amount it lasts for ages and you hardly ever have to replace it.
I work as a nurse and wouldn't be without this product as it gives me the confidence at work to do my job without the worry of smelling or sweating on my patients!
I originally bought this product about 5 months ago and I have been extremely pleased with the results. I found myself excessively sweating and I had no confidence at all. I found that when I first used this product that it stung a little under my arms. This abated after the first few applications and now I use this twice a week along side my other, spray, deodorant.
This smell of perspirex isn't very nice so I do find the need to try and mask this with perfume and another spray. However, this is a small price to pay for being virtually sweat free and smelling fresh with no hint of b.o.
This product does cost a lot, but it lasts for a long time as you don't need to use it every day. They also do a price back guarantee with specially marked packs so if you don't get on with it, provided you have the marked pack and your receipt, you can get your money back if needs be.
I am a very busy woman, and undeniably, I do sweat a reasonable amount. Although it was never a major problem, I would have liked to been able to rely on a deodorant which promised 24hr protection, but unfortunately never found one that worked for me. I was recommended to use Perspirex by a colleague, and once I finally got round to purchasing it, I wished I had done it years ago! The roll on doesn't have a scent, and is very easy to use. Mine was aroun the £7 mark, which I was a little dubious before hand but I now realise it is worth the money. You only have to use a very small amount, just like a roll on, you do a quick swipe underarms and then go to bed (I would recommend not wearing your best PJ's whilst you are using Perspirex, as the roll on can leave yellow stains on clothing), Sleep, and then shower it off in the morning. I still chose to wear body spray, purely because I wanted to smell nice, but if you didn't, you would not be able to tell whatsoever. The deodorant protected me for about 3 days (I showered at least every evening). It was quick, and easy to do, and when I started to notice sweating again, I just re-applied. People have health concerns about Perspirex because 'It does not allow you to sweat which is a waste product', but it is only designed to be used underarms, or on hands or feet, not anywhere else, so I never found that a problem. One thing I would not recommend is putting Perspirex on after dry shaving. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Aside that, the roll on is amazing, a really good buy.
So for those of you that have read my last review you will know about my struggle with hyperhidrosis, and how much it ruined my life, I mentioned the fact that I have found something that has got me through this summer and put me back on track with wearing what I want and getting my confidence back in life? Well this is the product that has done that!
~*~ So, what is Perspirex? ~*~
Apart from being my saviour in life it is also a roll-on anti lotion for underarms, hands and feet. The information leaflet tells us it is 'Seriously reliable protection against excessive perspiration and odour.' So it gives itself a lot to live up to just from reading the information leaflet!
~*~ What is it made from? ~*~
Strangely enough, it is made from Aluminium chloride - so as you can imagine you have that lovely metallic smell every time you open the bottle, which is enough to put you off initially because I'm not going to lie to you it's an awful strong smell. According to the Perspirex website the roll on is based on alcohol, which is what makes it work the way it does so I'm not going to complain!
~*~ How does it work? ~*~
Well the aluminium chloride in the roll on reacts with the water in your sweat glands to form a keratin plug in your sweat gland, which basically makes it dormant, so you do not experience the sweat from said gland as you would have before. However due to the normal shedding of skin cells in a matter of days the plug will come away and the gland will come back to full working order, which is why you need to reapply every few days to ensure you are covered.
~*~ How do you use it? ~*~
First time users need to ensure their underarms are dry and apply every night until the desired effect is achieved - basically until you stop sweating, or it becomes very minimal sweating; this is meant to happen within a week of using the roll on. Then after that ever y other day for two weeks, and following that two to three nights a week, basically as and when you need it. However be careful not to apply up to 48 hours after shaving, or waxing or however you remove hair if you use it on your underarms, because trust me it will sting! Try to avoid using it on broken skin as well, because that and wet underarms you will regret applying, because it too will sting.
Oh and before I forget make sure it's done at night!
~*~ Where can I apply it? ~*~
You can apply it anywhere that you have a problem with sweating, however you can't put it in places like eyes, or genitalia or something like that. Well why would you in the first place but still, there are rules so that you must not apply it to more than 10% of your body because obviously perspiration is a way of regulating body temperature so you are endangering yourself by applying too much.
~*~ Has it worked for you? ~*~
Happy days for me, I started using it back in around April this year, and I have not turned back, initially I was dubious to buy it because it is quite costly for a 30ml bottle I think it is - but given that I had my first bottle until November I am happy with how long it lasted, but because you are not applying it every day you aren't using it all the time. Obviously it will depend where you are applying it, personally it was only on my underarms so you don't need a lot - there is still a tiny bit left in my first bottle but I've gone onto a new one now instead of leaving it hanging upside down to use that tiny bit. Warning though, when you start using it, the first roll on your arm will mean bits drip off I think the packaging is a little bit over filled when you get it so watch out for dribbled bits off the ball in the rollerball.
For me when I started using it, it literally took two days to notice a difference in my sweating I was over the moon, couldn't believe how well it worked so quickly. I did carry on for the entire week just to make sure I was prematurely happy, I could have probably stopped four or five days in but I wanted to make sure it had stopped. It was the day that I wore my favourite bright purple animal from the muppets t-shirt that made me happy. It was the first time in a very long time I'd worn a coloured top without a black cardigan over the top to stop anyone noticing the sweat patches - I couldn't stop looking at the underarms of my t-shirt and going oh look there is no sweat I couldn't believe it. I used to struggle with my student nurse uniform as well, in pale blue not a nice thing to see lots of sweat, but on my last placement, not a bead got on my uniform I felt so much more professional and although people still don't take me seriously as a nurse yet I felt more the part than being paranoid about my underarms.
Now I was initially a bit worried about applying this stuff my first thought was it's going to sting, but I haven't really come across anything that's been unbearable. I've felt discomfort, but nothing that put me off sleeping - now they say that this stuff is quite bad for bleaching clothing which is why they suggest using it at night, so bed sheets could get bleached, however I've got some lovely dark blue and brown bedding and it's all still the right colour no bleached patches at all, and well with the colour of my hair the only thing that's changed colour is the pillow cases... I will warn however that your skin can get quite irritated, because it is metal on your skin, I have found with prolonged use that my underarms have got quite itchy and sometimes sore, but it will go off and to be honest it is worth the effect you get from it. The smell, yes it's not very nice but I've not been told that it's the worst smell in the world from my boyfriend when we get into bed, but I think he's so used to it now that he isn't bothered.
I can't comment on how well it works on odour because I didn't have a problem with that in the first place, but it hasn't caused any problems with me since.
Also if you are unsure it comes with a money back guarantee if it doesn't work for you, you can't go wrong!
~*~ Price and Availability ~*~
It is apparently available in all good chemists and supermarkets... I can't say I've seen it in Asda or Tesco not to say it isn't there... I buy mine from Boots for £7.30, I know it's pricey but it's also 28 points on your Boots advantage card if that swings it at all for you. I would buy it at £15 a bottle it's that effective for me!
Over time I have tried almost every deodorant on the market including those that state that they are more effective for heavier sweating but have always ended up being disappointed with the results. So just before I got married I decided to go to Boots and pick one of the more specialist antiperspirants as I didn't want to get embarrassing wet patches on my wedding dress which I knew would be inevitable if it was a warm day and especially as the dress was so heavy and hot to wear anyway. So after trying to compare the different specialist antiperspirants I decided on the Perspirex as it seemed the most suitable.
The Perspirex comes in a small white roll on bottle containing 25ml of the antiperspirant, the bottle is contained in a box with an instruction leaflet of how to use the roll on. It states to use the Perspirex at night just before bed as this is when the sweat glands are least active. It also says that at first you should use the Perspirex every night for a week to achieve the desired effect and then every 3 to 4 days after. I didn't use it every night at first but just once every 4 days which has been very effective for me. The next morning when the antiperspirant has fully dried you just simple wash as normal.
I learnt my lesson quickly as I did not pay as much attention to the included instruction sheet as I should have and one night used the Perspirex after shaving under my arms, the stinging and itching was almost unbearable. Now I always make sure that I only apply it at least two days after hair removal.
I have found the Perspirex to be fantastic, it got me through my wedding and very hot conditions on our honeymoon in Mexico with completely dry under arms. My only regret is that I did not find this product years ago as it would have saved me several embarrassing moment and would have allowed me not to have to be so choosy about what I wore on a warm day.
The Perspirex is available in most chemists like Boots and also larger supermarkets. It is not exactly cheap at around £7.00 per bottle but to me it is definitely worth every penny. Also one bottle does last rather a long time as you only use a small amount for each application and you only need to reapply it every few days. When you have used it you don't need to apply your regular deodorant but I choose to anyway as it adds a nice fragrance as the Perspirex is pretty much odourless.
This is one product that I can certainly recommend and I will continue to use regardless of the price, in my opinion it is fantastic!
Excessive sweating can leave a huge dent in a person's confidence. It can seriously impact every single thing that a sufferer does - they may be scared to lift up their arm at school to answer a question or feel forced to make their outfit choices on what best conceals underarm patches. I have never had a problem with sweating until fairly recently - after researching a little bit online, it appeared to be the start of hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) and the thought of having to conceal unsightly sweat patches indefinitely filled me with terror. While body sprays and most deodorants will make sure that you never smell bad, they do little to stop the dreaded dark rings on light fabrics.
After some extensive research online, I found PerspireX was a brand that was repeatedly touted as a solution to sweat problems. Naturally, I was ecstatic and ordered it straight away. My initial thought on gazing upon the bottle was that it looked far too small. I was worried that it would be a bit of a con, since surely this roll-on had only enough for a handful of applications? Then I remembered that this anti-perspirent isn't meant for daily use as it's so effective.
The guidelines for use are simple: make sure your armpits are washed and completely dry with no other products on them, then with a couple of travels up and down, apply the roll-on lightly to the armpits. It's suggested to do this just as you go to bed because you sweat the least during the night time, and you don't have to worry about feeling uncomfortable during the day. You do this process nightly until you feel your sweating problem cease during the daytime - it usually takes three or four consecutive night time applications. Then you stop using the product, as it is very potent, over-use will irritate your skin. You then move into a routine of using it once or twice a week from then on to "top-yourself-up".
If you want to know the science of it, PerspireX works by leaving your sweat glands ineffective. The Aluminum Chloride reacts with the water inside the sweat gland to form a keratin plug which will cause it to go dormant. This is the reason why reapplication is necessary, as over the course of a week, your skin cells die and regenerate meaning a new plug needs to be formed.
Many reviewers online rant and rave about how excruciatingly painful the application of PerspireX is, which for me, has always seemed ridiculously melodramatic. A lot of people make the fatal mistake of not reading the label and making sure their pits are as clean and dry as possible - fresh out of the shower and just dried is the best. As the active ingredient reacts with water, no wonder these people are in pain. For me, I'd say 50% of the time I use this product, I feel absolutely nothing at all. It's like a standard roll-on, albeit a little stickier and a little smellier (there's a distinct chemical smell but it's not too bad). Often, you'll apply it and briefly feel a slight tingle that is irritating but vanishes after five minutes. Just very occasionally will you actually feel any sort of burning sensation on your skin.
Now, the most important part of the review - did it work? The first day I used it, I didn't really notice a difference. I was still having my underarm sweats and nothing had changed. I was despairing but told myself to persist since it's meant to take a good few uses before results can be seen. The second day of use was when I first noticed my armpits improving. I felt like I was sweating far less and that you could barely see any sweat patches at all. The third day - my problem seemed to disappear. I was stressed, running around desperately preparing for an exam and yet my pits were staying dry. By the fourth day, I could put my hand under my arms at the end of a long day and they would be as dry as they were 10 hours ago. It was amazing, I could suddenly start wearing just a t-shirt again and not fear whether I would need to change it mid-way through the day.
It was literally all I wanted and more. The best thing about it is that because you wear it at night, you can wash it off in your morning shower and wear another deodorant during the daytime. This means you can still smell nice or, you can choose to double your effectiveness with another antiperspirant! My personal choice for deodorant (scent) is Lynx Africa, while for antiperspirant (reducing sweating) it is Dove for Men.
I bought this product online from Amazon, and it appears that it fluctuates around the £5-6 mark in most online stores. Obviously, this is a little above the average deodorant cost, but given it's high-strength and the fact that it will last a long time (you don't use it everyday), there is a sense of balance and justification for it.
Without a doubt, this is the best and most effective product I have ever used to combat sweating. If you are feeling self-conscious about it, then this product may be for you. If it works as well as it did for me, then it will turn your life around as a little concern that used to plague my thoughts every day simply vanished. It truly is a miracle product.
After buying numerous different deodorants that all promised they would solve my sweating problems, I decided it was time to buy one of the more expensive put-on-the-night-before solutions. I had seen PerspireX advertised on the TV before and was always hesitant because it seemed so expensive for such a tiny bottle. However, a friend had told me how good it was so I decided to give it a go. For the first couple of days it had no effect whatsoever and I was extremely disappointed, but I kept going with it and soon enough I was noticing the results! I think the trick with this product is persistence, as eventually you can put it on less and less. HOWEVER, there is a big negative. It stings like hell! I think some people are more affected than others (as I have quite sensitive skin) but when I first started using it, I couldn't sleep because it stung and itched so much. But, I seemed to get used to it as time went on, although it still does itch a bit.
If you do not want to worry about itching and stinging, then I wouldn't recommend PerspireX but, for me, it was definitely worth it as it completely got rid of my sweating issues which were such a burden to me, so the pain was worth it!
I would be really interested to hear if anyone else has had the same problem as me. I started using Perspirex back in 2009 and from day 1 it has been fantastic and i have had 18 months totally sweat free (1 little roll on lasted all this time!) The problem started when i ran out of Perspirex and bought another one, which didn't work so thinking it was a dodgy batch I bought another one. I'm now on my third one applying exactly as i did before but it's still not working. I'm devastated to be back to square one!Anyone else experienced this? Or got any advice on what to do next?
This is one of the strongest anti perspirants available without prescription and really helps combat problematic excessive sweating that your ordinary spray or roll ons don't. It is only recommended if those ordinary products don't work.
If your usual anti perspirant/deoderant does not work in preventing perspiration then this is worth trying before speaking with your Doctor, who can prescribe anti perspirants even stronger than this if necessary.
PerspireX works by closing the skin's pores around the area of application. You apply it at night when the sweat glands are less active and then wash it off in a morning. It can be painful, especially if you apply too much which is easily done because your instinct and desperation to prevent sweating can encourage you to apply liberally, but that will only result in soreness and pain. Only a small amount is required, which will probably cause a degree of itching, but shouldn't be too painful.
As humans we are all different to each other, which means that PerspireX won't work for everyone in the same way that it won't be necessary for everyone to even consider using it. Some people may find the side effects unbearable and others maybe won't experience any at all. I found that I could use Perpirex with some mild to moderate itching, but I could apply it one night and get around three days sweat free without applying it again.
It came as an immense relief to get results from a product that I had been hoping for with so many other products that had only let me down. PerspireX is relatively expensive to buy, but this is not a particular issue because you only apply it in small amounts and the bottle therefore lasts a good length of time.
I certainly recommend trying PerspireX if you find other products do not work. Expect some side effects of using it and see whether it works. If it doesn't work, or if you find the side effects unbearable then consult your Doctor as there are other Prescription options available for excessive sweating.
It may just work for you without that being necessary and life when it does work is bliss.
I have suffered with excessive facial and head sweating for several years. After reading about using an antiperspirant for it I found out about Perspirex on line. Although it is not reccommended for that, nothing ventured nothing gained. It took 4 days instead of the suggested 2 or 3 to get results but it works! I now use it only two or three times a week. I apply it with a cotton ball as I don't want to get it in my eyes, I wipe it on my forehead on each side of my nose down my cheeks and around my neck. It is amazing, no more waking up at night soaking wet, no more dripping hair and face after very light exertion. The strange thing is that I don't sweat from the head any more either, I don't know why, but I don't care, it is wonderful to be sweat free. Thank you.
Perspirex is a brilliant product. I don't know where I would be today if it had not been for it. I used to be very conscious of the amount I sweated, but now it not even a concern. I used to take in a spare shirt on most days and that was difficult and embarrassing. And now I just put it on before bed and its perfect. Even if I forget a night its not a disaster. I honestly would pay triple the amount I paid and I had tried some more expensive ones, but not even close to the effectiveness. It is also not a heavy duty antiperspirant. It is not itchy or sore like others and lets skin breath a lot more than any others. It sounds cliche but it has saved my life. I don't even have to worry about it. It is also easy to get in many shops.
After trying a vast range of different antiperspirants from roll ons to sprays from dove to sure I have never came across one which works as well as this perspireX antiperspirant. The one I buy varys in price from £5.99 to £6.99 depending on where I buy it and that is for a 25ml bottle roll on which yes it does seem very expensive for a tiny bottle but it last for a while as after you have had it a week or 2 you only need to apply it every 3-5days!
When I first started using perspireX I thought it would not matter if I shaved my armpits and then put it on but I could not be more wrong as I would get very itchy and even start stinging and I would then need to wash it off so if you buy this product read the instructions carefully and follow! To apply it is advised that you put it on at night just before going to bed and that you apply it to dry, unbroken or undamaged skin and then wash as you normally would in the morning and do not reapply. Then you only need to apply 1-2 per week or as you feel necessary to stay full protected from those annoying and embarrassing sweat patches! This is a unscented antiperspirant so it does not have a pleasant aroma so I tend to put on a regular deodorant or spray as well even tho it is not needed.
I would definitely recommend perspireX, especially to anyone who suffers from a lot of sweating and gets really embarrassed and self conscious about it as this product will definitely reduce or even stop arm pit sweating with continual use! 8 out of 10 and this is only because it does not smell good so if they managed to make it have a nice fragrance some how it would be 10 out of 10!
I just hate it when it is very hot weather and you are at a wedding or function and you sweat and those horrible wet marks that sometimes show under the armpits, I think it is off putting and so annoying for the person who has them and someone recommended this product to me to try a few years ago and I have used it ever since.
It is available in supermarkets and chemists and it can be found on the anti- per spirants shelves and it comes in a box and it is a round dome shaped bottle with a screw off top and inside it is a roll on applicator.
It is used in the usual way of a roll on and is used at night time for the best results just before bed preferable, and it is quite sticky and it is left to dry naturally and in the morning it can be washed in the shower, it takes awhile for it to dry but once dried it kind of feels tacky but the results are marvellous
It can be used for both men and women and my wife uses it too and she does not use it the same day she has shaved as it is recommended not to use it straight after shaving as it can irritate the skin and make it quite sore, but the next day shaving can be done and it is not a problem.
The armpits do not get wet for at least 3 or 4 days after use and so it does not need to be re applied until after this time and there is no wetness whatsoever and even on very hot days the area is still nice and dry and even after a shower or bath it does not need application again until the 3 or 4 days and I think it is a brilliant product and is very good for office workers or teachers and the first time I used it I thought it would not even work but I was totally wrong.
After 3 days or so it can be re applied and then continually in the usual way and you have nice dryness constantly.
You can use the usual smellies to freshen up around the area but none is needed under the arms.
It is perfect for all year around use and especially those summer months when we tend to sweat a little bit more and for those occasions when we need to use jackets etc and like to look nice and dry when the jackets are taken off.
My wife wears strapless dresses a lot in the summer and she is nice and dry and she also uses it on a regular basis.
This product is priced at around £ 6.97 and although it may appear quite expensive at first the results are well worth it and a little does go a very long way and I think it is excellent value for money and I highly recommend it for anyone to give it a go as I think it is worth every penny spent and I do not think you will be disappointed at all with this product.
I rate it 5 stars.
Since the age of about 11 or 12 I have suffered from awful underarm sweating, which made me feel so unhygeinic even though I knew that I had had a shower that very morning. It is very embarrssing and I am now 25 so I have put up with this for over 13 years now. I have been limited to what I can wear, I can't simply go into a shop and buy a pretty top. I have to think to myself "is this something that is going to show sweat marks?", and if the answer was yes then I wouldn't be able to buy it. So I always have to wear something which is black, or dark or with a strong pattern on which would hide the marks, or I would wear a cardigan or shrug over the top. Even in the winter when its freezing I would sweat the same amount and I was most confused.
I have tried every single deoderant on the market, even the other strong ones such as triple dry. I used this when I was about 14 and it was soooooo strong and itchy that it felt as though my underarms were burning away. And also, it didn't work.
I had pretty much given up, until I came across Perpirex. I don't know why I had never tried it, I had tried every other one!
I got mine from Boots for £7.15 for 25ml. Its a small roller ball device just like a normal deoderant, only smaller. All you have to do is put on a small amount at night, before you go to bed, and wash it off in the morning. I used a tiny amount the first time as I was worried about the itching other people have mentioned. It was abit tingly, but not itchy. The next morning I washed it off and got on with my day. I did experience a small amount of sweating still, but no-where near as much as before. That night I applied Perspirex again, abit more this time. This time it did sting and itch but once I was asleep I did not notice this and the itching was gone by the morning. I washed it off and this time I went all day with no sweating. I was amazed. It does make your underarms abit sore and itchy on the odd occassion, but if you are like me and have suffered this problem for years then it is worth it. I no longer have to worry about what to wear everyday. I now use this 2-3 times a week and don't use any other deoderant, except maybe a nice smelling spray. It is recommended not to use this within 48hours of shaving or it will hurt lot, although I have not tried this so can't comment on whether it is painful or not!
This stuff is a live saver! It has totally changed my life in a good way and I no longer am restricted in what I can wear (before it was strictly all black or white as to not show wet patches, now I can wear blue, grey, pink, etc etc with no embarrasing wet patches) You start off by applying perspirex probably about four times a week depending on how bad your underarm sweating is and then gradually you need to use it less and less and you will find yourself using it as little as once a week. Good points are no more sweat patches as it keeps your underarm bone dry. No more B.O nasty smells and just generally changes your life for the better :) Bad points are it can be very itchy if you apply when your underarm isn't completely dry or if you have shaved recently. I would definitely recommend waiting 48 hours after shaving before applying or it really really really irritates your underarm as I found out the hard way!! Definitely a good buy!
Strong, hard working antiperspirant /
