A couple of years ago I started to have a horrible reaction to my usual aerosol deodorant as I have very sensitive skin and simply couldn't use it anymore. So I had a look around boots and found this, as it doesn't contain a lot of the chemicals normal deodorants do, which presumably was what I reacted to. I wasn't really expecting too much and wasn't sure it would actually work but I was wrong !
This stuff is actually a thousand times better than any product I'd used before. As it's a spray it's quite cooling and refreshing on applying, but dries quickly. With this I never even get a whiff of BO, not even in the height of summer or when exercising, unlike my old deodorant where I'd have to reapply quite often, so this really lasts the whole day ! It's also a lot better for your skin as it actually lets you sweat like you're supposed to instead of blocking your pores and keeping all the nasty stuff in.
Unlike aerosols it doesn't leave any marks or stains on your clothes, and I really recommend this as it really works so well !
For months I was getting a strange taste when I used anti persp. Then I came across a couple of other friendly products which did not really work. Then I came across Pit Rock in a Bodycare shop. I have never looked back. The performance is incredible, and this has to be the most undervalued and understated personal care item that I have ever come across.
My wife and wider family are keen to get a hold of it. I guess some people would be put off by the need to wet the product before application, but hey, that makes it feel like normal sticky stuff on a rollon.
Definitely worth buying, and the other advantage is that there are no chemicals polluting your body or blocking the sweat that needs to leave the body. Would be good if there was a spray version of the product (although there may well be)
I've not used Pitrok, but a similar product for well over a year, and am well-satisfied. The hardest thing to get used to for me was how long the damned thing lasts! I think we're all used to finishing up a product and going out to buy more, but my stuff is only half gone after a year! (making me wonder if I'm applying anything at all sometimes.) A piece did chip off, though (probably due to my rugged, manly armpits!)
I don't know if its just me or the particular crystal deodorant I use, but, after a hot shower, applying my stuff immediately makes me smell like sweat; then, within seconds as its drying, the smell is gone for the rest of the day. I wonder if I'd have the same reaction with Pitrok. Time to buy some and find out!
Warning: there is far too much of an introduction in this review but I can't find a better place to put it, so your patience is greatly appreciated!
I sweat - profusely. I sweat like a pig, actually. And there's nothing I can do about it - that's just the way I am. Of course, living in a hot country like Israel doesn't make my life any less sweaty. So in order to try to keep from offending people (as well as myself), I try to keep my personal hygiene to the highest level possible. Testament to this would be the many shower gel and soap reviews I've written, as well as a few deodorant reviews, with a perfume or two lobbed in for good measure. And for the most part, I've been pretty pleased with these products. And now I'm back with my newest find - PitRok.
First of all, I should say why I decided to try PitRok. I'd heard about this product several years ago from a trusted writer on another review site and was curious, but not totally convinced about this product. The reason for this was that I wasn't sure a crystal could work as a deodorant. Now this particular writer was mostly concerned about ingredients in conventional deodorants possibly causing breast cancer. That's a serious allegation, and probably one that many women would be worried about. But after consulting with my gynecologist, he did assure me that unless I had the genetic tendency for breast cancer, there was no real medical proof that there was any connection. He did say that those women who did have a family history of breast cancer should probably change to a product that didn't contain aluminum. Since there is no breast cancer in my family, I decided to allow my scepticism to override that reviewer's urging and stick with my old faithful Sure stick deodorant.
But then I read that there might be a connection between the aluminum in deodorants and Alzheimer's. That's when I began to worry, because there is lots of Alzheimer's in my family. So, I decided that the next time I was in the UK I would pick up some of this PitRok, and here's what I think of it (yes, the introduction is finally over).
First of all, I purchased the push-up kind since the thought of handling a slippery rock didn't appeal to me. And slippery it would be, too - because you're supposed to wet this crystal before using it, or apply it on wet skin. At the time I bought this, I also didn't know that they now make a spray on version of this, so the push-up type is what I'm reviewing here. By the way, I'm not going to go into the packaging of this product - you can take a look at it on the web page noted in the technical stuff. I will only say that it is fully utilitarian, if slightly boring in design.
Anyway, as I mentioned above, the idea here is to rub this crystal on wet skin or to wet the crystal and rub it where needed - which is mostly in your arm pits. You can use this on your feet as well, but the idea of using the same thing under your arms and also on your feet didn't really appeal to me (which is why the spray might be good for people who want to use this for both their underarms and their feet). But I did use this during the summer underneath my... um... boobs, since I do tend to sweat there as well, being... er... well endowed, so to speak. To get back to using the product, I found that applying this directly after having a shower seemed to be the best idea for me.
Since I'm used to a solid, stick deodorant, I wasn't terribly happy with the damp feeling that I got after using this, and felt I had to do a bit of arm flapping to dry the area, post-application - much like I used to do when I was using roll-on deodorants. Still, this isn't the worst thing in the world, and the hopes that this might stave off getting Alzheimer's certainly is worth a bit of a daily flap. In this area, I'd give this product a rating of eight out of ten.
Since this is a crystal, and as such has no scent to it, I found I didn't have to worry about allergic reactions to the perfume - which is something I'm very sensitive to. Certainly anyone who likes to use their own perfumes or highly scented bath & shower products would be happy to know that there's no smells here that will clash with those items. In this area, there's no doubt that I give this a full ten out of ten.
But most importantly is how does it keep me from stinking of all that sweat. Remember here that aside from my own personal profuse dripping, I also live in a hot climate - far steamier than in the UK even with global warming. The result here is slightly mixed. While I found that this does keep me almost totally stench-free, even during a heat-wave rising up into the mid-30's (centigrade), there were a couple of instances where I found myself smelling less than totally fresh. Mind you, this was when I was wearing clothing that had been last worn while I was still using my previous deodorant, but hadn't yet been washed. But after I'd been using this for a few weeks, I found that this actually did eliminate almost all the odours from my pits. Yes, "almost". But by that I mean that I found if I go for more than 24 hours without a shower (something that happens only rarely, I assure you), I will smell some odour. However, I found I could only detect this if I stuck my nose under my arm to check it. I think that's pretty good, and in fact, I think that's equal if not better than my old stick deodorant. That's why I think I'll give this product a very strong nine out of ten rating on doing what it says it will do - stop you from stinking.
Lastly, I should say that this product isn't all that cheap. As noted below, almost £7 for one of these makes it one of the most expensive deodorants on the market today. However, one should note that this lasts a full year (it says so right on the package, actually) if not more, and if you consider that any other deodorant won't last even half that time, this makes this well worth the money. Unfortunately, it isn't as easy to find as other more conventional deodorants, and you'll have to snoop a bit around the shops to find it. Another nine out of ten in that area.
In conclusion, I'm very happy I found this product. It doesn't contain any harmful chemicals which might cause health problems after prolonged use. It isn't scented so there's nothing to have any allergic reaction to (that I know of). And it does what it says it will do - keep you smelling nice. Mind you, for people used to stick or dry spray deodorants, the wet feeling might not be terribly attractive, but it can be gotten used to. And finally, while fairly expensive, it is worth the price since it lasts so long. I'd say that's enough to recommend it and give it at least four stars - don't you? Try it - it might just be a great alternative for you.
Thanks for reading.

PitRok® Crystal Deodorant's web page is http://www.pitrok.co.uk/ and you can purchase their products on-line from that site. The push-up kind I bought costs £5.95 (including VAT) on that site, and they charge an additional £2.99 for shipping within the UK (for orders over £50 shipping is free). The problem is, shipping to the EU and the rest of the world is very pricy. But I now find that I can buy something similar here, so I might switch over to that when this runs out.
This product has literally changed my life. I'm not being over-dramatic!
I used to have to throw my t-shirts away after only a couple of wearings, they got so pongy. I have tried most deoderants you can buy, including one for 'problem perspiration'. I was set to visit the doctor, the problem had got so bad.
Being a bit of an organic chick, I'd tried natural deoderants before, but they hadn't worked. I've been quite concerned also, as my mum died of breast cancer, so there was that worry, what with the suspected links with most deoderants.
But PitRok totally works! You still sweat, so darker t-shirts are out during the hot weather, but wear a pale vest top and by the end of the day there's absolutely no smell. At all!
I've also tried it on my feet (which tend to get a bit whiffy when you're wearing sandals on hot days) with the same great results.
I would thoroughly recommend PitRok to everyone. It's not hard to use at all, though it does feel like you're only rubbing water onto your skin.
I'm not going to change ever! I can finally buy tops that cost more than a few quid as I know I'll be keeping them for longer than two wears. Result!
p.s Sorry, I don't seem able to change the 'recommend' thingie to 'yes', but I totally would!
I first started using pit rok deodorant by accident. I had always used lynx and been perfectly happy with it. Then one bright summer morning after my shower I found a new guy on the bathroom shelf. My usual lynx was still there but next to it sat a round white plastic tube. I picked it up to have a closer look. It was really quite heavy. The black triangular label had the words pit rok natural crystal deodorant written on the front. I was intrigued and read the information on the back to see what it was.
What is it?
Pit rok is made from natural mineral salts. Most deodorants and anti perspirants contain aluminium, pit rok doesnt contain any aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium zirconium both of which can irritate skin. Aluminium has also been associated with causing breast cancer. Pit Rok is alcohol free and contains no perfume either. Pit rok will not stop you from sweating; after all sweating is the bodys natural way of cooling itself down. Pit rok works by getting rid of the toxins contained in the bacteria, which live naturally on your skin. When you sweat it is these toxins which cause that nasty odour we call b.o. So by getting rid of the toxins we can sweat without causing offence to anyone! The chemicals in anti perspirants prevent you from sweating by blocking up your pores, which can cause irritation. Pit rok allows you to sweat so wont clogg your pores.
Pit rok is a solid crystal, which you push up from the bottom of the tube as with other deodorants. It has no odour so will not interfere with after-shave or perfume. To apply your skin needs to be damp. I use it after I have had a shower. Alternatively you can dampen the crystal and then apply it. Pit rok can be used under arms or on feet.
So, does it work?
Yes! When I first used this last summer I have to admit I didnt expect great things. But I am happy to say I was wrong. Pit rok works really well and is far more economical than other deodorants as it has lasted for about 6 months so far and is only about half gone. I play a lot of sport and have never noticed any odour although I sweat a lot! The other bonus with this is it doesnt produce white sweat marks on clothes as with other deodorants. I apply pit rok once a day after showering and this really is enough to last all day, amazing! My wife uses it too and finds she no longer gets sore under her arms, even after shaving.
Pit rok is not widely available but I recently saw it in Waitrose on offer at £ 4.99, which is £1 cheaper than normal. Pit rok is also available from health food shops. I would really recommend you give it a go!
BO's not very nice, is it? We don't want BO, do we? In a previous incarnation as employee and office manager, I had the most unwelcome task ever ? that of taking an employee to one side and telling them, ever so politely, that their personal hygiene lacked a thing or two and that their colleagues were complaining about having to sit next to them. That's not a very nice thing to have to do, believe me. So, it's no wonder that deodorants and anti-perspirants have become a booming industry, is it? We're all out there in search of the best possible product, the wonder-item which will save us from ever having our office manager ? or anyone else for that matter ? shifting uncomfortably in front of us, trying to find a nice way to tell us that our armpits honk. And we do need a wonder-item, a best possible product, for we sweat. And left untended, microbes grow in our sweat, and? well? they smell bad! Our sweat doesn't smell, but those microbes sure do. Help is at hand, for courtesy of other reviews hereabouts, I reckon I've found the best possible product, the wonder item. It's Pitrok. Pitrok rocks (that's your free pun for this opinion, if you find further, then they are, I assure you, unintentional). Nope, you haven't seen it advertised. Nope, it's not made by any of the big names in Health and Beauty. Nope, it hasn't been highly researched by teams of scientists who talk about lipids and suchlike. Nope, they didn't need any animals to test it. Nope, it doesn't run out after just a few weeks of use. Nope, it doesn't destroy the planet. Nope, nope, nope and lots more nopes. Pitrok is just the best thing for your armpits. And it's so simple, you'd never believe it. Pitrok isn't? ? a deodorant. A deodorant is something you spray or smear ont
o your armpits hoping to mask the acrid smell of those dirty, low-down microbes with a sweeter smell. Underneath the sweeter smell, the acrid smell still lurks, I'm afraid to say. Pitrok isn't? ? an anti-perspirant. Anti-perspirants act chemically to prevent you from sweating. Yes, we're so paranoid about appearing squeaky-clean and as fragrant as Lady Archer, that we won't even allow ourselves to sweat. Y'know, guys, we're supposed to sweat. Sweating serves a purpose, otherwise we wouldn't do it. It's the body's way of ridding itself of toxins. You don't want to keep the toxins. Pitrok is? ? a solid stick of natural crystal. It's just a lump of mineral salts. But the magic of it is that it stops those nasty, low-down microbes from emitting any nasty smells. It does! It's like magic! It doesn't stop the sweat ? and I know this is a hard one to take in, but that's a GOOD thing, honest ? but it does stop the smell. It doesn't mask the smell, it stops it. Woohoo! I bought my first Pitrok about six months ago. It comes in a (recyclable-ish) plastic tube ? looking remarkably similar to any deodorant or anti-perspirant tube ? with the lump of crystal inside. You simply push up the crystal until a little bit is extruded from the top of the tube. If you've just got out of the bath or shower and your skin is wet, then you just rub it on. If your skin is dry, then you'll need to moisten the crystal a little by running it under the tap first. It doesn't smell. Not at all. It's completely odourless. And this lack of smell does take a bit of getting used to. We've all got so paranoid about our pits y'see, that we can't quite believe something will work if it doesn't blow out our noses. But, this la
ck of smell does have a distinct advantage. It means I can wear whichever perfume I like without fear of a multitude of smells all clashing together and me leaving the house smelling like the cosmetics floor of a department store. I just smell of my perfume. And wonderfully, it works. An application of Pitrok's crystal once every morning has served me well over the last six months. It's tremendously effective. Even in those hot days of the summer heat wave, I promise you that I did not smell. Nope. Not a tiny bit. No danger of someone with an embarrassed look on their taking ME to one side, thank you very much. After a day out at Paignton Zoo, I'll admit I gave my armpit a nervous sniff or two. But there was nothing. Not a single smelly, evil microbe to be found. I can't remember a time when I've had to apply it twice in one day, so it's long-lasting too. Pitrok really, really does work. I have fairly sensitive skin. My husband and children have very sensitive skin. We have to use Surcare washing powder else we run the risk of sore, flaky patches. Previously to buying Pitrok there were only one or two deodorant products I could use ? Original Source and Dove ? without getting painfully red and itchy, and only then if I made very sure to wash off all traces before I went to bed. Pitrok, being simply natural salts, doesn't irritate my skin at all. I can't remember the last time I felt uncomfortable; certainly not since I've been using it. The same goes for my husband. Most anti-perspirants contain aluminium chloride, a real nasty which closes up your pores and has been linked to the aggravation of respiratory diseases such as asthma. Pitrok doesn't contain any such thing, and it's my guess that was my itchy, sore problem all a
long. 7;e spend a fortune on facial cosmetics to unblock our pores, so it can't make sense to spend another fortune on things to block them under our arms, can it? And I haven't finished waxing lyrical yet! Pitrok doesn't rot your clothes ? no chemicals y'see. It doesn't leave stains on your clothes. I wear black nine days out of ten and I no longer need to worry about waiting around for my deodorant to dry before getting dressed because Pitrok doesn't leave any white marks. For a mother in a rush every morning ? which I am! ? this is the most enormous blessing. And there's even more! Pitrok will set you back between five and six quid, depending where you buy it, which at first glance is not particularly cheap. My previous choice of similar product, Original Source Roll On, cost about two quid. But then, Original Source wasn't still going strong after six months. My Pitrok crystal is. I might have splashed out more than double the price in the first place, but over time, I think I'll actually save money. I still can't quite believe it! If you buy in to the general paranoia about your armpits, you should know that as Pitrok doesn't stop you sweating, it doesn't stop the possibility of your clothes being sweated upon. There is a chance, if you sweat heavily, that you might get damp patches on your clothes. If you can't bear that thought, then that is the only reason I can think of for why Pitrok might not be for you. It's a totally unpractical, cosmetic reason, and I don't care if I sweat or if ? heaven forbid ? other people can SEE that I sweat. I'm supposed to sweat. But you might care. And if you do, then perhaps Pitrok won't make your grade, or at least, not during the hot, sticky summer months anyway. Yo
u'll be missing out though. Let me go through the benefits again? Pitrok does? Stop you smelling Give good value for money Pitrok doesn't? Prevent your body ridding itself of toxins Stain your clothes Test on animals Cause allergic reactions Exacerbate asthma Interfere with the smell of my perfume Bugger up the planet In my book, that's a five star product! You can find Pitrok at most independent health food shops. But if you have any trouble then you can buy it from the manufacturer's website at www.pitrok.com, or from that excellent online purveyor of right-on goods, www.naturalcollection.com. Buy some today. Go on. And spread the word! Pitrok really is the best possible product of its type. So there!
PitRoc Natural Deodorant is absolutely A1 fantastic. I first read about it here and was so fed-up with the ineffective, expensive deodorants on the market that I thought I’d give it a go. I have to admit to being a little sceptical at first but figured that, if it worked, it would be the end of an awful lot of hassle AND embarrassment. I was also concerned because I have very sensitive skin but as it is a natural product with no perfume etc I decided it was probably a pretty safe bet. I ordered it from their website, as noted in the original op and it arrived within 48 hours – complete hassle-free service. The first time I tried it I didn’t trust its capabilities at all and took a “proper” deodorant to work with me – just in case. I was, and still am, amazed. Considering we have just been through the hottest week of the year and, one of my busiest times at work, I haven’t noticed the slightest hint of BO and that’s brilliant. I gave it a thorough work-out over the weekend – doing the housework in temperatures of about 26-27 celsius and it worked a treat. I can’t recommend this product enough – it allows your body to sweat thereby preventing problems caused by blocked pores & glands, but the crystal prevents the build up of bacteria which is what causes the nasty niff! It doesn’t stain your clothes and it really does work. I can also categorically state that it has not affected my skin at all which has always been a problem with deodorants before as I'm allergic to perfume of all things!
Ever said to yourself why the heck while God was making all the furry and slimey things that crawl the earth, and all the mountains and shining lakes, could s/he not have bothered to make me a decent deodorant that doesn't stain my clothes interesting clothes, give me cancer, make me smell of cats pee or cause my arm pits to bleed and weep and swell to the size of enormous oranges? Well, rest well and be absolved, for s/he did! It goes by the name of pitrok and it's all all natural deodorant that keeps you fresh as a daisy without all the nasty side effects. It works by disabling the nasty things that cause you to smell nasty using mineral salt. This means you will still continue to sweat, but it will be scentless, which honestly will cause you to sweat less. I've tried a couple of non aluminum deoderants, mostly from Lush before. One was a talc based product which worked fairly well, but which still had a few design problems to be worked through and could be quite rough which caused slight inflamation (not nice!). PitRok however comes in a push up holder, so that it essentially has the same design as your regular roll on, only it's a crystal instead of a ball or stick. The crystal itself is glass like smooth so there is no danger of a rough surface causing damage (and no incase you're wondering my armpits aren't extra senstive, that Lush thing really did hurt!). To use, you simply step out of your morning shower, grab your push up crystal and apply to your slightly damp pits. Alternatively, you can sidle over to your sink, run a bit of water over the top of the crystal and then apply. Fairly simple. Alternatively, you can get the liquid version which you spritz in your pits, but this is a bit wetter. To be honest, I thought it wasn't going to work. After all this is a crystal, how can this compete with the science and technology that creates things like Secret ('ph strong enough for a man, bu
t made to bugger up a woman's clothes') ? Well, here I am, fresh as a daisy at the end of a day's work, feeling pretty confident, if I say so myself, and pretty thrilled. I've tried a lot of deodorants recently and have not had even a smudge of the happy result that I've had over the past couple of weeks with this thing. Plus I have the peace of mind knowing that my pores are not seething away under the evil cancerous influence of most antiperspirants and deodorants. I would also say, that because PitRok does not contain as many chemicals and additives as normal deoderants it could be used on more senstive skin successfully. You can purchase PitRok from independant health shops, and its own web site : www.pitrok.co.uk which will post it out to your for around 1.50£. Beware though, I bought the fragranced spray at the same time as the push up crystal and found the fragrance to be... a bit manly for a woman. It smelt strongly of Old Spice. For women I'd reccomend sticking with the unscented crystal and then you have a handy thing that will not conflict with your perfume.
This hand-pump spray is based on the same natural mineral salts as PitRok crystal / Spray under arms or on feet / dries in a minute / With aloe vera and calendula skin conditioning formula / No perfume is added / Does not contain aluminium chlorohydrate, aluminium zirconium or alcohol / Sutable for sensitive skin /
