I recently bought a can of Charlie Red body spray. I haven't used this body spray for years even though it can be picked up pretty cheaply.
~ Price ~
It can be picked up for around £1.00 and is available from Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets.
~ Packaging ~
It comes in a metallic red coloured spray can with silver floral designs on it and 'Charlie Red', across the front.
It is a fairly simple design, which is easy to recognise on the shop shelves.
~ In use ~
The body spray is just as I remembered from using it all those years ago.
The scent is made up of notes of orange blossom, gardenia, plum, blackcurrant, violet, peach, carnation, tuberose, orchid, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, rose, honey, sandalwood, amber, musk and cedar!
It has a floral scent. It is quite a sweet floral. Something in it reminds me of sun lotion and holidays.
The body spray is not overpowering and is not too strong although I think people around you would notice it on you.
I think this body spray is aimed at a younger audience, but I do know older women who use this spray as well as the eau de toilette. I don't think the scent is too young or sweet for more mature women.
It is a nice body spray, which is a great size for carrying around in your handbag to freshen up during the day. I expect the 75ml can to last around 4 weeks with regular use, which is pretty good for the price.
The spray lingers on my skin for about 2 hours before it fades away and I need to reapply.
I would definitely consider buying this body spray again in the future, but I must admit I do prefer some of the scents from the Impulse range of body sprays to this one.
This body spray comes with a lid, whereas Impulse body sprays have a twist release. The lid is obviously a lot easier to lose or to come off in your handbag although it does fit firmly over the spray dispenser. There is then the chance that the body spray might spray itself, which has happened to me before in the past, but it is unlikely to cause much damage or mess.
I still think that this body spray is worth a 5 star rating.
Wearing Charlie Red body spray in massive doses as a teenager has lead me to dislike the smell of it. I did really love the smell at the time so maybe I've just overdone it. Personally I couldn't imagine anyone over sixteen wearing this. The smell itself is quite sharp and to me its sickly.
Smell doesn't last long but its a body spray and these generally tend not to last as long as perfumes which I usually opt for. Very cheap price so you can't really go wrong and its a fragrance you could wear year round. The body spray is available in bodycare and superdrug and similar shops. This is something I wouldn't buy for myself but I would consider buying it for one of the younger females in my family.
The bottle itself it cylinder shape and I have only seen it in one size; 50ml. The bottle is light and handy and I used to throw it in my school bag to freshen up during the day.

REVLON CHARLIE RED BODY SPRAY
I first started going out with my husband when I was eighteen. It was just before Christmas and he insisted on buying me a Christmas present and kept trying to get clues as to what he should buy. I told him I didn't want a present as we had only just met. Still, he kept on and asked what perfumes I liked. I mentioned just a few one being Charlie. On Christmas I was presented with a few gifts and one was a Charlie gift set. Now many years have passed and although there are still a few fragrances that I liked then and still like now, but naturally my tastes have changed a little. Now I often choose to buy more expensive fragrances than good old Charlie. Actually I hadn't worn a Charlie fragrance in many years although I believe it remains popular. I was interested to see that Charlie now comes in a range of different varieties such as Charlie Red, Pink, Blue, Gold, Black, White, and Silver...
My eldest daughter didn't let me down this last Christmas and once again she presented me with a beautiful basket filled with goodies and decorated in her creative style. One of the gifts included was a small (50ml) container of Charlie Red body spray.
I loved the basket and I am always pleased to receive gifts such as these yet don't expect or mind if I don't go mad over everything contained therein; I love the surprise element of delving into the basket and perhaps trying something new. But my daughter is imaginative. First of all I couldn't open the basket as it looked so lovely with candy sticks, Christmas bells, candles, sweets, soaps to name just a few items and I could see a container of Charlie Red through the cellophane but, in the end I had to untie the ribbon and undo the packaging.
Once opened, I had a better look at the Charlie Red spray and had a squirt or two. Now I hadn't expected to like this much. I thought it might be a 'teenage' fragrance as I didn't think it was an expensive item. However, on first sampling this fragrance I was pleasantly surprised.
HOW DOES IT SMELL?
Charlie Red is a floral aroma and Revlon; the manufacturers recommend it for casual wear. Well, it is fairly light and fresh in my opinion.
This fragrance is a made of a pretty and feminine blend of rose, violet, apricot and lily of the valley with notes of citrus and plum.
Well, I'm mature but I still like this fragrance. I would expect it is a popular scent among the young but in my opinion a smell is a smell. I mean, I wonder if certain age groups prefer a certain smell in air freshener. I consider price is a main factor to who wears which perfume as I think younger people generally go for the cheaper ranges in fragrances owing to buying what they can afford and probably getting through copious amounts of the stuff. And then most women with families tend to not treat themselves very much so really I suppose the younger woman of limited means would go for the less expensive brands except when they are given gifts.
But with this fragrance, as it is a body/deodorant spray, I think it is definitely suitable for females of all ages.
Now this isn't my very favourite fragrance but it is a nice one and it took me by surprise, in a nice way. I am now almost at the end of the bottle and so decided to buy myself a new bottle today when in savers as I want to take this on my holiday in May.
As far as body/deodorant sprays I think this isn't too bad on the lasting side. It isn't a perfume and so it is expected, I feel that you would want to top up if wearing for any length of time but I really feel that for a spray such as this it doesn't do a bad job at all.
WHEN TO WEAR
I would say this is primarily a day time fragrance as it is fairly fresh. It isn't a perfume but body spray and so a decent amount can be used. But as it is a refreshing spray I would not be averse to using this on holidays in hot climates in the evening. Not only is it refreshing but it's light and small so perfect to carry in a handbag and not take up much room at all. I do think it's nice to have a few light containers amongst my fragrance collection to carry around and so be able to top up when out and about.
The metal container is of a shiny red colour, which isn't really a surprise, with the lid also in red. The lettering is in the signature type wording of 'Charlie' and along with 'RED' is in silver as are the flowering on either side of the fragrance's name. All other lettering is also in silver. I would say there is nothing remarkable about this container but it is a good design in terms of ease of use and weight.
A plus in the design for me is that the actual spray press button is so nice to use. This looks solid and is very easy and comfortable to spray evenly.
And I also like the fact that the bottle (both 50ml and 75ml) is very light in weight and therefore ideal to include in my suitcase when going away for a weekend or on holiday.
WHERE TO BUY/PRICE
Savers: 75ml £1.00
www.gotiny.co.uk: 50ml £0.99
Boots: 75ml £1.70
Superdrug: 75ml £1.69
I own far too many body sprays, they seem to be taking over my house, my car my handbag and everywhere in between. Ever since school I've been a regular user of body sprays and prefer them to perfumes. One body spray I buy often is this Revlon Charlie red.
Charlie red is widely available to purchase from supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug. The 75ml can is usually on offer for £1 but has a full price of a little bit more.
The packaging is quite typical of body sprays as it comes in an aerosol can, the can is quite thin and around 15cm long so it's quite small and easy to carry around with you. I have a can of this in the door pocket in my car and it fits in there without any problems. The can has a lid on the top that is easy to take off and put back on again and underneath this is the button you press to spray the body spray.
The body spray comes out of the can in an even, fine mist and as soon as you press the button you are met with a sweet, cheeky scent. I would definitely describe it as a flirty smell, it's hard to identify what it smells like exactly but I can notice a hint of a floral scent. I think the scent makes it suitable for use day or night and for most age groups as I know my mum occasionally uses this and I have used it for years too.
The smell with this spray is the same as other similar body sprays that are often on offer for only a quid and seems to disappear quite quickly so it needs to be applied quite often. I would say the smell goes after an hour or two. I don't really find this a problem though as the can fits in my handbag (and car) easily so I can take it out with me if I need to spray some more.
I'd definitely recommend this Charlie red body spray from Revlon. The smell is absolutely gorgeous and it is always on offer somewhere. It doesn't last longer than other body sprays but this isn't a problem for me and I will continue to buy it.
I use body sprays quite often now as I find they are a nice way to refresh myself when I'm either on the go or getting ready to go out. I am not loyal to any particular brand and so I recently thought I'd try this Charlie Red for the first time. I am not familiar with the Revlon Charlie Red perfume but the Charlie Chic range is one of my favourite fragrances so I thought there would be a good chance that I'd also like this.
The product comes in a 75ml spray can. The can is bright red so you can distinguish it with the other Charlie body sprays on offer. The can has a plastic lid and a large plastic button which is molded into a fingerprint shape for easier dispensing. The nozzle is angled slightly upwards so that you need not tilt the cannister whilst spraying.
The actual design of the packaging doesn't really excite me. The can is printed with silver flowers which look pretty but slightly old fashioned. On the back of the can there are a list of full ingredients and some saftey instructions. There is also some product information.
The brand state this body spray will "unleash your daring side" as it is a "dynamic mix" of floral and spice based scents. They also refer to the Charlie Collection as a collection which allows you to have a different perfume for every mood.
When you press the dispensing button a fine but jet fast burst of body spray is released. You are able to press the button down softly or hard so this affects what distance the jet spray covers. You shouldn't hold it too close to your body in any case. A 15cm distance is advised.
This is a body spray so it has no anti-perspirant qualities it is simply a perfumed deodorant body spray. I like to spray this all over myself and also don't mind spritzing my clothes now and then if I'm on the go. It's a lot like a more versatile eau de toilette.
After reading the description on the can I was rather disappointed to smell this the fist time I used it. It's really not what I'd call a "dynamic" fragrance and it's not a scent I'd associate with anything daring. This fragrance, in my opinion, is rather conservative. It's a fragrance that's soft and hazy, not sharp and spicy. There is a mild floral base combined with smoky, woody notes. It's a fragrance I'd say an older woman might opt for as it is very gentle.
I do like the fragrance but it's not what I expected it to be after reading the description on the can. I most definitely still prefer the Charlie Chic fragrance which is more unique and magical. However, I'm happy to use this Charlie Red spray to freshen up with and am enjoying using it. It certainly has a longer lasting fragrance than some of the cheaper body spray alternatives I've been using. It also has a more sophisticated blend of notes than some cheaper body sprays on the market. I'd use this again, certainly, but if given the choice I'd opt for the Charlie Chic body spray every time. I would like to see the brand reconsider how they see this fragrance and represent it a little more accurately in their description.
You can buy this in many stores including major supermarkets and chemist chains. It cost me £1 but the price varies.
I never had any of these Charlie sprays before but always saw them on the shelves in Superdrug and the like especially around Christmas time. So it was really only a matter of time before one made it's way into my home! It wasn't the most imaginative of gifts but my half sister got me a box set of a collection of sprays from Charlie and this was one of them.
It comes in a 50ml red cylinder canister with a red plastic cap. Being quite small it is handy as it can fit easily into my handbag and comes out and about with me wherever I'm going. There is a nice design on the front of the can and in silver writing it says Charlie Red, Revlon, Perfumed Body Fragrance.
Using the spray is easy to do, I tend to spray it though once I am clothed as just a light layer of a nice smell for when I am going out and about. It carries notes of orange blossom, gardenia, plum, black currant, violet and peach, carnation, tuberose, orchid, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley and rose. To me it is quite sharp and heavy as there are a lot of scents going on so I prefer this as something I would wear perhaps to work in the office as opposed to a summery day out.
It is extremely floral in terms of the overall aroma but as it comes out so strong it is a bit harsh and not a scent I find quite compatible with myself and personality. In terms of lasting power it also is rather weak which is disappointing. Within about an hour of me leaving the house I genuinely feel as though I can't smell it anymore! I know it is a body spray but I had hoped it would have some longevity at least, so to be honest I have to carry it with me and re-apply it frequently!
Overall, this is not really a winner in my book and not a spray I'd recommend. I always find body sprays quite hit and miss and sadly this one is a miss due to the poor lasting power and the harshness in the heavy scent.
I have way to many body sprays for my own good as I like to have plenty of choice, my shelves are literally full of body sprays and purfumes. I find that body sprays are really handy to keep in your bag or if your just popping out to give you a burst of fragerance.
I'd never used charlie before, I had always stuck to impulse, however my friend bought me some for Christmas a few years ago (you know those cute little sets with the mini ones in) and since then I regularly buy the full sized cans in superdrug. I think they cost around £1.70 however I was in boots earlier and they were down to £1.
The aerosol can it comes in a bright red can (obviously Charlie 'red') with silver flowers on. However the Silver flowers are very subtle they add a hint of class to the can. The cans are long and thin and fit perfectly in your hand which makes application quick and easy.
On the front of the can it has the name 'Charlie' in a cute font with the name of the scent just underneath 'red'. At the bottom of the can it has the makers 'revlon'.
On the back of the aerosol it has all the information. It tells you to hold the can 15cm away from you when spraying and all the safety information etc. it then goes on to tell you the ingredients and some contact information.
It also says "unleash your daring side with charlie red. A dynamic mix of flowers and spicy fruits."
On the top of the can is the lid which is also red in keeping with the colour scheme
The smell is quite fruity/ floral. I love the scent as its not to girly but has a lovely smell. According to Charlie the scent contains Jasmine, plum essence and warm wood notes, I personally wouldn't be able to pick any of those individual scents out but they work very nicely together.
It is very easy to spray this and the nozzle is good because it almost disperses it outward so you cover a lot of your body at one time.
I also notices that you don't get white residue like some of the cheaper brands, even when spraying on black and very close up.
Overall I do like the smell and I would buy it again (and have done multiple times)
The smell lasts a very long time and I find I get bursts of fragerance throughout the day which is very nice.
I think £1.70 is an extremely reasonable price for the body spray as it just as good as a more expensive brand and it smells like heaven
The look of the can is very pretty and classy but I feel like it doesn't really pop on the shelf and grabs your attention which makes me think it might get over looked a lot. However I pay for revlon to make beautiful long lasting scents not to improve the look of their can which is what they do.
The scent is quite flowerly and I can easily identify the jasmine. Although I can't really tell what the other scents are, but there is something quite 'fruity' about it. I think that the different 'flavours' compliment each other really well.
I like this scent. It makes me feel all confident as soon as I put it on. I don't know why but it also makes me feel quite 'cheeky' and 'flirty' when I am wearing it. There is something quite warm and comforting about the scent, and so I would say that it is definitely a 'feel good' scent which makes you feel all good and fresh.
Unfortunately, but as is to be expected with a cheap perfume, the scent doesn't last all day, and so I always make sure that I keep it in my bag so that I can reapply it if I need to throughout the day. Also, it's quite small and so it easily fits in your bag.
I usually keep my body sprays for daytime, and tend to go for a fragrance for when I am going out in the evenings. Although, I think that you could easily get away with wearing this body spray on a night out as it has a lovely smell and isn't cheap which is good.
Whilst the scent is quite strong when you first apply it, it soon settles down. It's quite subtle and not too in your face which I like as it means that it's not too-in-other-people's-faces if they do not like it. Although having said that; loads of people have commented on how they love my perfume when I wear it.
You can find this spray on offer quite a lot of the time and so it is definitely something to keep your eye out for. If I am honest, I only buy this when it is on offer as I don't like spending around £2 on something that doesn't last all day. You can easily get it for around a £1 when it is on offer though.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this body spray.
Thanks for reading!

I use a body spray each day before going out and often top up during the day, so I like to use one that is noticeable enough to make me confident I smell pretty. Although I've used several different brands and fragrances, I've stuck with this one for a while now because it's what my boyfriend calls my 'signature scent'.
Charlie is made by Revlon, and their body sprays are described as a 'perfumed body fragrance, deodorant perfume'. They're not designed as an anti-perspirant, so they won't keep you dry, but they will make you smell sweet. They do a range of different fragrances, but the Red one has been my favourite so far.
The Red one comes in a 75ml red metal aerosol canister that's slim enough to be neat and fit in your handbag. Removing the plastic cap and using the push-down spray mechanism is each to use and gives you just the right amount of spritz, which is important because I've known sprays that are quite hard to spray and you end up with either nothing coming out, or enough fragrance to make people in the next building notice you!
The fragrance is described as a 'flirty fusion of jasmine, plum essence and warm wood notes'. It doesn't really sound like one I'd pick up, so don't necessarily go by the description alone. It has a distinctive smell, quite sweet but not sickly so. It's quite flirty as they claim, but not too in-your-face so you can use it day or night.
To use, just hold 15cm from the body and spray. It's down to personal preference really how much you use or how you use it, but I personally tend to use this over my clothes and just give myself a quick general spray so the fragrance is just noticeable.
The scent doesn't last all day, but it's distinctive enough to get some remarks. My boyfriend loves this one and my friends have asked what I use because they like it as much as I do. Don't expect it to last all day, but as I said, it looks nice enough and slim enough to fit in your handbag so you can top up when you want a quick burst of a pretty scent. I also find it lasts fairly well because you don't need to use a lot each time, which makes it good value for money (and normally cheaper than similar alternatives).
Charlie Red is also available as a gift set and Eau de Toilette.
RRP £1.70 (often on offer for £1)
When I first purchased this product I was only a teenager and was looking for something cheap to be honest lol however I was then and still am incredibly suprised by just how nice it is considering how cheap it is to buy at only £1 from most supermarkets its definitly a bargin. I have tried some of the more more expensive brands of body spray but even they aren't as nice as this . It didn't smell cheap and nasty and the scent lasts though out the day. I have had so many compliments of people about the smell when I use this spray and my partner absolutly loves it.
The packaging for the spray is very basic and i would say doesnt exactly do the spray justice . The bottle size is 75mls and the spray comes in a bright red bottle with charlie written in a sort of goldy, silver colour across it... and then red is written underneath it. I definitly wouldn't go as far to say it was a overly pretty designed bottle especially when compared to the bottle designs of other brands you can buy. However the scent does make up for this. For those that may be new to using it their is some information on the back of the spray can which includes the ingredients, a bit about the product and instructions on how best to use .
When you first spray it the scent could be said to be a bit overpowering. The fragrance is described a dynamic mix of flowers and spicy fruit which once the smell settles does become extremely true as you are left with a very distinctive, warm, sexy and sweet scent of flowers and fruit combined on you.
Overall, I would definitly recommend this body spray and i personally love it . I really enjoy using and find its perfect for everyday use. Definitly take the time out to try it at a £1 a can you can't go wrong.
Charlie Red surprised me with how nice it is considering how cheap it is to buy. I expected it to smell cheap and nasty and wear of easily but it's exactly the opposite! It has a really lovely scent which smells like both flowers and fruit combined! I buy both the body spray and the perfume and it is so cheap! It always lasts a long time on me as well which is what i mainly look for when buying any type of fragrance.
I think this one is definetely a younger persons scent to wear on a daytime occasion but it is so fun and flirty in my opinion! The Charlie body spray gift set would make such a great present for a young girl and won't cost you much at all. I've noticed that the Charlie products seem to be very readily available too and you can buy them in most department stores.
This body spray is great for adding a bit of flavour to your day and will give you a nice aroma, but like all body sprays don't expect it to act like an anti-perspirant deodorant at all, it will not stop you from sweating and you will still need to wear an anti-perspirant as well. I say this because i know a lot of people who buy body sprays confusing them with deodorants and end up being disappointed.
You can get a 100ml bottle of Charlie Red for £5! And a 75ml bottle of the body spray is under £2 so it is well worth the spend.
This perfume has to be one of my favourites in a spray. Its got a warm, deep scent with highlights of sweetness which lingers for hours, and you don't have to spray a lot of it to really get a good coverage. Be warned though, its pretty strong when you first spray it!
I'd say that this was the type of scent which would suit women (or adventurous men...) whom enjoy warm scents, but you've got to be fairly bold to wear this, because it really can overpower others when you enter a room. No-one mistakes Charlie Red when they catch a whiff.
This body spray wears really well, and will remain evident for many hours, my one gripe being that it doesn't smell quite like "Charlie Red" when its been worn down. Instead it mingles with your own body oils and creates either a sweeter scent or a deeper scent. While this isn't totally repulsive, it just isn't the same smell, and this might annoy some people, as it does me.
The packaging it comes in has changed over the years, although only very slightly. It changed from the white nozzle with a tall cap and a difficult-to-read 'Red', to a red curvy nozzle with a lower cap and a much simpler 'Charlie Red' design on front. But the scent remained the same, thankfully.
I remember when I was younger going into Boots after school to spray the perfume testers, and Charlie Red was always one that I headed straight for!
The body spray can cost anywhere from about £1 - £2 depending on where you get it from, I usually get mine for about £1 in places like Body Care or Boyes.
It's a typical aerosol can with a lid that just pulls off, but it looks really good and is very eyecatching in a bright red shade with white writing and little flowers on it. The packaging design seems to change slightly quite often but it always stays the same bright red colour.
It has a very distinctive scent, which is a mix of jasmine, plum essence and warm wood notes. When you first spray it it's very strong and chemical smelling, but it dies down quite quickly and leaves you with a nice scent which is still strong but not overpowering, unless you spray far too much in which case it is very overpowering and choking! The scent seems mainly fruity to me, with just a hint of the floral jasmine and the deeper wood notes.
It doesn't last too long so I do have to apply it quite often througout the day if I want to keep the scent, but this can be said of any body spray really, they don't last like perfume does.
It's not an expensive smelling scent as you would expect of something that cost s£1, but it does have a nice scent and is suitable for day or night.
I really do like Charlie Bodysprays and more often than not I tend to find them on offer in places rather often so I get them and always feel I have a bit of a bargain!
This one is one I have had a couple of times over the years but forgotten about and moved on to newer different fragrances from within the range.
So I decided to get it the other day in Boots for a pound and I couldn't wait to get it home and re-try it out!
75ml tall red cylinder can with a red plastic lid/cap that goes over an integrated red push button aerosol sprayer. On the front of the can and in silver writing I am told that it is Charlie Red, Revlon, Perfumed Body Fragrance and there is a floral pattern on there too. On the back of the can other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and being told how to use it, the size is stated as are the ingredients listed and contact details for Revlon are given. Nice, mature looking can this one and very sleek and informative too.
A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On The Back Of The Can:
Unleash your daring side with Charlie Red! A dynamic mix of flowers and spicy fruits.
Well all you do with this is to spray it onto the skin, at arms length. I always spray it onto clean skin but of course its up to you and if you want to carry this about for instant freshen ups then why not?!
The scent of this is meant to be violet, rose, apricot and lily of the valley with notes of citrus and plum. For me this is a heavy scent though Charlie Red is meant to be recommended for casual wear, for me its heavy and more of an evening fragrance. It certainly does have a violet fragrance along with rose as a well blended heart with fruity tangs I can't quite make out which I suppose is meant to be the plum and apricot sort of over that.
The citrus which I think is lemon uplifts the fragrance whilst the lily of the valley earths it. Its a rich and deeply layered scent and in my opinion very suitable for the more mature female to wear as its a sophisticated and very classy fragranced body spray.
Once on the skin you stays fresh and fragranced for a good few hours though of course the initial smell does fade somewhat, but it does linger.
This is a pretty and rich body spray and I had forgotten how unusual I found the fragrance of this to be and how much I liked it and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this time and time again in the future.
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc and if not on offer will set you back about £1.70 a can.

In my opinion this body spray is a lot nicer than the Charlie Red Perfume. It is totally wearable and I think it smells beautiful and it is very cheap usually only £1. An excellent price to be paying for such beautiful body spray.
The first person who got me into buying charlie body spray was my grandma. She always likes to smell nice and pretty and this smells great on her. Then I thought hey why don't I give this a go? I'm glad I did as I absolutely love it.
The body spray itself comes in a very pretty red cylinder shaped bottle with a red cap. You have to press quite firmly so they spray comes out when it does it covers me completely in a gorgeaus scent.
The scent is very floral and feminine. It is gentle light and refreshing- not a very heavy fragrance so perfect for daytime wear. Jasmine and plum escence give it a very floral and summer fruits kind of smell.
I find the body spray doesn't last that long and you have to re apply it every 4 hours to keep it fresh and stop it from going to light and musky. Which I don't like as you can't smell it. It sort of smells stale in my opinion? I can't think of a better word to put it.
I wouldn't say this body spray stops sweating but it can hide the smell of it and make you feel a lot fresher. If you have just did hardcore excersize do still apply an antiperspirant then apply this as this doesn't stop sweating.
Overall I really love this charlie fragrance much better than the perfume. Keep re applying it during the day and you will smell gorgeaus!
